Just went tonight for my daughters 6th birthday. Not only was the food delicious and the hibachi very well done and entertaining, but they took serious steps to ensure both my gluten allergy and my daughters shrimp allergy were accommodated. Never again. This person I spoke to Friday on the 6th was so rude and not accommodating. I hate giving reviews. I always give second chances. But as someone in the industry she should be let go. She's a liability. I gave this place several chances but this was my drawing board when I called to notify them....not in a complain way and her response was "is there a problem" I would think she would rectify the situation instead she did not: note if you're a hostess you represent the company and let alone as an Asian minority female you also represent your family. I went here for the Saturday Lunch Buffet, which also includes dim sum choices (Sat & Sun only) on the buffet and choice of soup (served to your table). I've also been to the Tyngsboro location for lunch, but the buffet is not offered there. The atmosphere in the restaurant is modern. The buffet had around 40 items to choose from including the Chinese items, sushi, salads (field greens, seaweed), fresh fruits (watermelon, bananas in strawberry syrup), small desserts, and hard ice cream (2 flavors). Some of the items on the hot buffet station included veg lo mein, veg fried rice, assorted vegetable tempura, spring rolls, pumpkin cakes, scallion pancakes, crab rangoon, fried dumplings, pumpkin mussels, chicken wings, sesame balls with red bean paste, cowpeas with Chinese sausage, coconut shrimp, bok choy, mixed vegetables, chicken & broccoli, spinach dumplings, shu mai, sticky rice, fried dough sticks, soy milk, and more. I tried most of the food items on the buffet and I was very satisfied with the quality, temperature, and taste of the food on the buffet. Some of the highlights of my meal included the sesame balls (big & soft), crab rangoons (crispy), spinach dumplings, tempura (not greasy), pumpkin mussels (spicy), and sticky rice (wrapped in a leaf). Our friends live right around the corner from Feng Shui and go here all the time. So when they recommended it for lunch, we figured it must be good! When we walked inside, I was immediately impressed with the decor and cleanliness. And then I was impressed with the size of the place! The staff is friendly and accommodating. We had to wait a bit because it was busy, but they gave us constant updates on how much longer the wait would be. We all got the buffet, although 2 started with wonton soup. The buffet looks small but has a lot going on. I stayed away from the Dim Sum, as the items weren't labeled, but every one my friend had looked good! I was very excited for the Chive Pancake, but unfortunately, it turned out to have shrimp (which I don't eat). Downstairs the Chinese food tastes like any other Chinese food in the area, yes, I mean the 'fast food' Chinese, but the Hibachi, that's another story. In case you've missed it, Feng Shui has hibachi grills upstairs and you don't need to have a large group to enjoy it. My mom and I took a chance on them and we are still talking about it. Our chef gave us a great show and was very personable and made us the best food EVER. I had the chicken and steak and my mother had the shrimp, scallop, lobster combo. My dinner was melt in your mouth good, not too salty from the soy sauce and just perfect. From what my mom was saying, hers was Mmmmm, mmmm, mmmm, yum. The rice was PERFECT! It transformed from white rice to fried rice in front of our faces so you could see exactly what was going into your food. The vegetables were fresh and not mushy. And overall, because the food is cooked right in front of you, you don't have to wait for it to be served. Leftovers were just as good. I'm already planning my next trip. If one doesn't want to participate in the lively cooking show, there's an extensive menu with Japanese and Chinese offerings. We visited the Chelmsford location today for their weekend lunch buffet. Price was reasonable, less $15.00 per person. We got there right when it opened at 11:30 AM and the workers were still setting up our table. Our server came to get our drink order and asked if we wanted soup. The options were miso, hot and sour and wonton. There was no egg drop so I went with the wonton. It was actually pretty good. For the buffet, there were 7 types of maki rolls and 3 types of sushi on rice I was surprised to see the dim sum offerings in the steel steaming trays. There were chicken feet, tripe, wontons, shumai, sticky rice and shrimp dumplings. I turned around and there was additional selection of Chinese delicacies that included pig's ear and ox tail. The restaurant does cater towards the Asian community with these offerings To cater towards the western clientele, there was the typical American Chinese food that included wings, terriyaki, boneless spareribs, eggrolls, crab rangoons, lo mein, general gau chicken, etc My favorite entrees was the fried fish in sauce, braised pork belly and stuffed mussels. For dessert, the ice cream choices for the day was black raspberry and maple walnut. I was a bit disappointed that there was no green tea, coconut or red bean. Service was extremely friendly and quick. It didn't feel like the typical Chinese buffet where the servers are rushed, annoyed and overworked. I don't know what to say about Feng Shui that hasn't already been said over and over, except that it lives up to the hype. It is a family favorite. The Sunday buffet is outstanding- not the usual offerings at all (and I loathe buffets). Service is excellent and the space is modern and chic. If you are in the area, I highly recommend it. Note: 18% gratuity is added to all checks for parties of 6 or more- even the buffet- and it's not clear on the check. Since Feng Shui opened, I have been there three times -- once for lunch and twice for dinner. I am very impressed with the elegant and skillfully designed interior. The ownership obviously retained a very talented designer and was willing to spend a good deal of money on some very nice stylized touches. The menu has both "Chinese" and "Japanese" entrees and there is also a shusi bar. There is a cocktail lounge. The second floor is planned as a "hibachi grille" and is not yet completed as of this writing in mid-January 2008. (Because the building has just been renovated, the restaurant appears to meet accessibility standards. There is a modern elevator which serves all three levels of the restaurant. Restrooms are on the lower level.) The presentation of the food is as elegant as the decor. Each dish is carefully composed on a square ceramic platter. And, which has impressed me most, is that the vegetables are cooked perfectly -- just slightly crisp and fresh. Shrimp dishes did not skimp on shrimp and the portion sizes were generous but not excessive. (The hot-and-sour soup is uninspired, however -- but, then again, what can you say about hot-and-sour soup.) When I had lunch at Feng Shui, I ordered from the lunch menu. Therefore I cannot comment on the good-sized buffet which was set up in an area of the dining room. But it looks worth a try. Service was attentive and pleasant, although our servers seemed a little unsure because the restaurant has only been open a few weeks and the staff is still getting comfortable with how things should run. Although the address in Chelmsford, this place is very close to the Lowell city line and within about a quarter-mile of the Crosspoint office complex. I knocked a star off bc of the chinese selection they have. The selection is very small. Not much vegetable dishes. The pork are hard and chewy. Most of other meat dish were unimpressed. Too many fried options made you get full really fast. The eggroll also has too much carrots without much of any other filling. My review is for hibachi only. My boyfriend and I went and each ordered steak tips and chicken hibachi. We also had Mai Tais that were very strong but delicious. The waitress was patient, kind and always had a smile on. The chef was funny and joked around with us as he cooked our food. I enjoyed the show and by the time I started eating I was all smiles. We got there at 6:30 for our 6:30 reservation, I checked in with the hostess downstairs and told her we were just waiting on one more person and they were finding parking. The parking lot was full so my friend had to park somewhere else and walk over. It took some time. We went upstairs and they gave our table away saying we didn't check in within the time limit. I said we were downstairs and we checked in with the girl down there. We were told upstairs was basically separate and we'd have to wait an hour for a table. If that's the case, why didn't the hostess downstairs let us know to check in upstairs? Why didn't she let them know we were here? Why didn't she tell us to just go up and secure a table if it's separate?? We ended up eating downstairs. Food was alright. I've been here a few times and it's always good food and service. There are lots of choices on the menu from Chinese to Japanese sushi to seafood. They also have a decent selection of wine by the glass, Japanese beer and saki, Chinese beer and traditional American beer and imports. I love the Chilean sea bass with ginger. Cons: I wasn't a big fan of the calamari - the portion was small and it was soggy. The duck dish does not come with bao - they serve it with tortilla which was really strange. Visited for the first time last night. Menu descriptions are very inaccurate. My husband ordered mongolian beef which was described as beef cooked with onions. It came as a huge pile of barely steamed broccoli with a small amount of beef and onions. I ordered orange chicken and was shocked when I received a plate of fried Chinese chicken fingers with sweet and sour sauce poured over them with a few cherries and pineapple chunks (didn't have time to change dishes since we were catching a movie afterwards). After going to the Burlington location, I decided to try this one. I tried takeout first and it was decent. The food was definitely not as fresh as the Burlington one but it was ok. I was very disappointed when I chose to dine in as the decor inside was very outdated compared to the Burlington one. (I understand that the Burlington was a newer location). What irks me is the plates and bowls that they used. It's likely they were from a couple of decades ago... The white plate they used was not for sushi as it was huge. It was not an appropriate plate to use. The bowl they served their soup in was a lot smaller than the one they use in their takeout soup container. (portions incorrect). The sauce bowl for sushi was weird because it was a mini bowl instead of a flatter sauce dish. This makes no sense as when you dip your sushi into the mini bowl, it doesn't consistently coat the entire bottom of your sushi, also because it's a bowl and curved, it bends and breaks the sushi that you are holding. The only solution is to dip the soy sauce on one end. It makes absolutely no sense, they need to update their plates and utensils. It's not a matter of design at this point, it just doesn't work. What made it worse, is that the booth we sat in was facing the sushi bar direction. That is okay...but 5 staffs stood there facing us the entire time, which made it awkward as there was no privacy while you ate. I also understand they might not have had anywhere else to stand. Standing at that location could be helpful as they can see the door and if any newer customers walked in, they could attend to them. But it made it so awkward/intimidating if you happen to be sitting in a position where 5 people stood there and could clearly watch you eat. read more
