Came by Feng Cha with a good friend for boba after a long day. We were excited to try it since we heard so much about it being the new boba spot in the area. The boba quality could be improved. I had their regular pearl milk tea which is black tea with milk and boba. The pricing is affordable and typical, but once you get their specialty bobas...the price does soar a bit. The boba pearls themselves didn't have the deliciosuly QQ chewy quality that I like. I do like that they have strong wifi and a variety of seating options for those who choose to study or have a nice conversation there. The restroom is very clean and they have a separate area if you just need to wash your hands. The cups are reusable and they recommend bringing it back again if you choose to get Feng Cha again in the future! You can save a solid 2 quarters if you choose to do that. I'm always for having more boba options in the greater Austin area, however Feng Cha wouldn't be my first choice for bubble tea. Service was very kind and wonderful, and they have a cute area with awesome vibes. The boba itself could be improved. read more

Yes! Multiple foam options but I stick to the cheese foam. The other ones are good too except for the sea salt foam. For some reason, it is sweeter than the other foams and not salty for being a "sea salt" foam. I've tried 3 teas so far, peach oolong, osmanthus oolong and earl grey. The teas here are strong in my opinion, not a complaint but just a note for those who may not want strong teas. Earl grey with cheese foam is my favorite so far. I get half the sweet level... so I love "eating" the cheese foam so much that I now order my drink with a layer of foam on the bottom, tea in the middle, and foam on top! Is that overkill? Nope! I finally got to try cakes, which I was excited about. They didn't disappoint. The cakes were moist and not too sweet. Very soft and light. I've tried the sea salt pearl and matcha love cakes. The matcha love is actually a plain sponge cake with matcha foam on top, the cake is not matcha flavored, fyi. The sea salt pearl is a regular white cake (think birthday cake texture). I would choose the sea salt pearl cake. This boba franchise has a slight edge over some others that have opened in the Austin area. Another bubble tea place to take the place of the original Tea Haus. Unfortunately Feng Cha is lacking - perhaps because they're pretty new. Cheese foam may sound shocking to some people, but relax. It's more sweet like the cheese you find from Asia as opposed to the the savory flavors of American cheese. I had the 50% sweet black milk tea with tapioca and cheese foam. The drink was good, but they are stingy with tapioca. It was the equivalent to two teaspoons of tapioca. Disappointing. Tapioca costs like one cent for a single one. You won't lose money by giving more tapioca. I also tried the osmanthus tea: It was pretty horrid, and tasted strongly of rubbing alcohol used to clean equipment as opposed to tea. Thankfully my companion had it replaced with a Four Seasons Tea, which was much better. Right now Feng Cha hasn't found its own unique presence in the bubble tea scene: The decor is reminiscent of Tea Haus's look on the inside, but there are more chairs. We got the Mango Breeze and the smoothie itself was great however the boba was far too warm and created an odd contrast with the taste of the overall drink. For 5.99 each you get a freshly baked chiffon cake smothered in their signature flavored foams and topped with boba, kit kats, oreos, or matcha powder depending on which flavor you get. Drinks- not a place i can count on for full bodied teas and consistently made tapioca pearls. I always get 50% sugar and regular ice. Teas are rarely full bodied and rely heavily on sugar for taste. Atmosphere- as of 7/1/21 they are takeout only still. Here are some of the drinks I have ordered. - Matcha breeze: Tastes like a Starbucks Matcha Frappuccino. If you like a traditional matcha milk tea, don't get this. It can be very heavy. The cheese foam is super good tho. - Dirty Boba: It is just way too sweet (I mean it is expected) and I got so full after 3 sips. This drink is just very heavy so only order if you have room in your stomach. - Overflowing Grapefruit: GET THIS! my personal favorite. It tastes light and refreshing and is perfect for summer. This is one of my go-to bubble tea places. I don't usually get boba, so my review is really based off the drinks. I usually get the oreo cheese drink. The cheese is a little too rich if you sip from the cup but if you mix it I think it's pretty balanced. The milk tea isn't too sweet but the oreo crumbs do sink to the bottom. I recently tried the dirty creme brûlée (with no boba) and thought it was good as well. I tried the basil fried chicken and it was underwhelming. This is a really cute boba shop in Austin. They got a pretty good variety of teas and toppings. I only wish their kitchen was open all day. I was looking forward to trying their basil chicken, but they said they only open their kitchen in the morning. I went at around 2:30 PM, but I guess I'll have to be up at 11:00 if I want some chicken. Anyway, I definitely recommend this place to anyone that loves boba tea. The aesthetics are great. They also adjust sweetness and ice level according to your preference. Currently, they have no indoor seating and there is no seating outside either! Plenty of parking though. Keep in mind that for their milk tea, they don't brew their tea specifically for milk tea. By that I mean that tea brewed to be milk tea is usually made with more tea leaves to keep the tea flavor strong even with the addition of milk, but when I tried their milk tea, I could tell that they brewed it like it was meant to be just straight tea, not milk tea! It was actually pretty delicious, not too sweet and super soft. It is exactly the consistency of what filipinos know as Mamon. The drinks here are pretty good and they have some unique flavors. I'm divided here: I thought the half-sugar Classic Black Milk Tea with Boba was spectacularly unimpressive, but the "Dirty Boba" drink special was surprisingly great. But if I stop using Classic Milk as my ubiquitous benchmark and switch to pricey specials, I'd have to reevaluate every Boba place I've ever been to. Don't wanna. In any case, Feng Cha is the latest corporate Boba giant making a play in Austin, and the bad news is they took the original Tea Haus on Anderson to do it. Dunno about the Tea Haus on Airport. Interestingly enough, it appears they'll keep the Basil Chicken on the menu, and that'll make this Feng Cha unique from Dallas & Houston. Cool. I love coming here to get their dirty boba drink. It is a yummy drink if you like the flavor of caramel milk. It is a brown sugar milk drink with boba. The brown sugar gives that caramel-y taste and goes so well with milk. It is definitely on the sweeter side so I usually have to order mine with 50% sweetness. My absolute favorite tap place in Austin (actually ever). Including SoCal and Houston. Yes, I said it. I am not usually a fan of tapioca in my tea, but this place just does it right! Everything from the different foam options, sustainable cups AND straws and their yummy popcorn chicken. I'm pretty sure they use fresh and seasonal ingredients too. Helpful staff. Check. Plenty of seating. Check. Fast WiFi Check. Amazing drinks. Triple check. I love the whole concept of this place. I think I have been here 10 times in the last 2 months. It just makes my heart happy. My favorite drinks to get are the classic oolong or earl grey tea with either the taro or cheese foam with their honey tapioca. 30% sweet. I was wary of the cheese foam but it's deliciously indulgent. Think more cheesecake! I will say the drinks sometimes turn out different based on who makes them, so just be aware of that. It tastes like caramel milk tea with cream cheese toppings. Okay okay the issues: the cup is tiny, 4.25 for one drink and only one size. It's so sweet that it kinda hurts, get 1/2 sweet. The kiwi tea was incredibly unremarkable and I wonder how the other ones taste. Of course I have a sweet tooth so this is my opinion. This place originally used to be Tea Haus and I loved Tea Haus. But now I can say, I love Feng Cha more! I was skeptical at first but the staff was friendly and helped me navigate my way through the menu. She was super generous to let me try a sample of each milk foam flavor. My favorite was the Cheese and the Tiramisu Milk Foam. The Cheese Milk Foam is super interesting. Similar to the Sea Salt Milk Foam, sweet and hint of a salty flavor to it but the Cheese Milk Foam has a thicker consistency and tasted more like cream cheese. I got the Oolong Cheese Milk Foam with boba and the Bursting Dragon Fruit with boba. Just to be safe, I got my drinks at a 70% sweetness level. Next time, I think I'll be safe to get the drinks 100% sweet. The boba pearls were just like how I liked them to be, a nice chew to them and it didn't have a soggy outer layer. What I really liked, was how the drink didn't sit heavy in my stomach. Other milk teas I've tried left an unsettling feeling and made me painfully full. Here, I felt refreshed and light after drinking a large size, too! In the end, I was very satisfied. And I can't wait to try the other drinks on their menu. Pro tip: their cups are re-useable! RIP Tea Haus. Hello Feng Cha. Well kinda - the decor is still very Tea Haus. Feng Cha is a chain I've always wanted to try ever since I saw it in Dallas and so my wife and I went for soft opening. Overall, they are unique because they do offer the milk foams, and I definitely recommend it as something to get. I really liked the taro milk foam - subtly sweet taro milk frothy goodness topping your drink is a good thing. But the oolong milk tea itself is weak - I didn't taste any tea, just a lot of creamy milk. My wife's rose oolong tea was definitely stronger though, so maybe its just luck of the draw. The drinks here are on the less sweet side too fyi, so I would recommend something in the 70% range of sweetness. Overall, the boba is ok but the foam is great - just expensive when the add ons add up. read more

I think I've just found my new go-to boba spot in Austin! Housed in the old Teahaus space, Feng cha brings in some new tasty boba options. So far I've tried the strawberry overload fruit tea and the dirty boba. I personally LOVED the strawberry tea - it was the perfect amount of fruit and tea. Usually places screw it up by adding too much sugar or artificial flavoring to the point where you can't tell you're drinking tea anymore, but here the drink tastes light and refreshing. The dirty boba was a bit too heavy for my taste - I like sweets but the drink was so sweet that it made me feel sick to my stomach. Flavor wise, it was pretty good - I'd recommend getting 1/2 sugar if you're going to try this! One cool thing is that they use reusable cups here and you can get a 5% off discount if you reuse your cup. For some reason, they have plastic thin straws but paper straws for boba. I get that paper straws are more environmentally friendly, but it's really hard to drink boba with those straws because they get soggy extremely quickly. I feel like I need to get a reusable boba straw just to come here! read more

They put into the tea a half a lemon which already takes away the amount as it is....I asked them why its low on the amount of tea and she proceeded to tell me "because you left out the ice and but its not really low on the amount i left out" ... I was going through instagram and just happened to hear about this new Boba place in town - and boy was I lucky. I dropped by to try out this new place and I honestly really like it. First impression of the overall location: it was cute, cozy, and I definitely love the sofas that they put up. Overall, very nice ambiance and vibe, I could definitely see myself studying here.
