Great pizza! Ordered the Big Star pizza, which had red sauce, the good pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers, onions, olives, cheese, and a perfect crust. All of the toppings were good and they asked if we wanted freshly grated parmesan on top. The Mickey White pasta was okay, felt like it was missing something and also needed more salt. We made reservations for 6:30p on a Monday and they were able to seat us 20 min early (otherwise would've been an hour and a half before we got a table). read more

Went here for a birthday celebration and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We shared a Margherita pizza, the Casanova pizza, and a classic pepperoni--each one perfectly cooked with great flavor and balance. We also ordered two types of wings (buffalo and honey hot), both of which were a hit, especially the honey hot with its sweet-heat combo. The pasta Bolognese was hearty and satisfying, and the salad was fresh and well dressed, rounding everything out nicely. The atmosphere really stood out. The lighting is low and moody--more on the masculine side for a pizza spot--but it works beautifully with the hip, neighborhood it's in. The music was excellent, ranging from Hall & Oates to 80s hits and current pop, setting a great vibe without being distracting. Best of all, the volume was just right: not loud at all. I came here for my birthday dinner recently and everything was so good. The place has a cozy chill vibe. Dimly lit. They have patio seating along central. We got the chicken tenders as an appetizer super good. You have to try their honey hot sauce. The Cesar salad was great. The crispy potato fingerlings are a yummy side to try. Bit pushy, perhaps they were trying to upsell a lot cause they didn't get enough tips that night? They kept breaking with me to go talk to other people and had some staff convos in front of me like I wasn't there before coming back to talk to me again. Although, all the other staff except the other bartender were super polite and smiley, allowing people to pass, cleaning intently, greeting customers, the whole nine yards. Really enjoyed my dinner at Federal Pizza! The Detroit Style supreme pizza (forgot what the exact name was) was exactly the way Detroit style pizza should be. Thick crust, heavy sauce, lots of cheese, and tons of meats on it. Added Jalepenos to it for an extra kick as well. The pizza came out in about 20 minutes after putting in the order. Service was relatively prompt but we did wait about 5 minutes after being seated to be greeted and drink orders taken. Apparently its an open service model so many servers can take a table, but besides a different food runner the same server took all orders and ran the credit card. I'm subtracting a single star (wish I could leave a 4.5 star instead) since there were flies buzzing around and some of the tables were sticky. They had some large parties coming in and out so I don't hold it against them. It left a college sticky bar atmosphere since it wasn't the cleanest all around. There was plenty of outdoor seating with misters but it was 106 outside so it wouldn't have made a difference. Overall will be back and its added to the local restaurant rotation. Will definitely be a place to visit when the Detroit Style pizza cravings hit! read more

Fantastic Wood-Fired Pizza, though the patio is a bit loud. We dropped into Federal Pizza in Phoenix without a reservation with my in-laws and we all had a great time. Even though it was busy, they were able to seat us outside on the patio right away. If I make it back, I'll make reservations so I can enjoy the ambience inside the building. The food was definitely the star of the show. We tried the Federal Chop, which was fresh and delicious, but the pizza was the real standout. We went for the "Double Down" deal--the half-pizza and half-salad combo is a great way to try both. The pizza crust was amazing (perfectly chewy and charred) and the pepperoni was cooked to that ideal crispy-edged perfection. My only minor gripes were that the service was a slightly on the slow side and the traffic noise from Central Ave can be quite loud. If you're looking for a quiet conversation, try to snag a spot inside, but for the food alone, it's absolutely worth a visit! Ate here with my boyfriend for his birthday and our server was Dan! He was so incredibly attentive and gave great suggestions on how we could maximize the amount of food we tried on the menu. It was our first time trying the caesar salad and chicken wings as well and both were equally delicious. I didn't know we could split up the wing sauces or combo a pizza half/half at no extra charge. I've been here a few times already, and my favorite pizzas are probably the Casanova with the arugula and prosciutto and the Detroit style pizza with hot honey. Their salads are also great as well. We always have great service here. Vibes are great. Have never really had to wait for a table, but it's never too empty. They have a bar inside and outdoor seating as well. My favorite pizza place hands down! Every time I try somewhere else I compare it to Federal Pizza and it just doesn't compare. My go to pizza is always the Casanova. If you order this get it for dine in only not take out . Doesn't taste the same. My gf likes the Pineapple Express and it has gotten spicier. The manifesto is ok the Casanova is where it's at. They have a great lunch special half a pizza and half salad. My favorite salad are the Caprese, chop, and Caesar. Plenty of food for 13.50. This place is becoming one of my favorite pizza places to eat. They have wood fire and Detroit style pizzas that I have tried so far. Plus some great appetizers you can mix and match for a tasty meal. I recently had the pineapple express pizza which is definitely my favorite so far. The crust is crispy it doesn't distract from the toppings. I love pineapple and ham. This one has a little kick to it too which makes it stand out for me. The Detroit style pizza was also good. The crust was crispy on the outside but still soft inside. I'd say maybe a little more cheese was needed. But overall very tasty. I'd get it again if I'm in the mood for a thicker pizza. I also saw a couple specials that I plan to take advantage of. $15 lunch special half pizza and salad. Or Mondays and Tuesdays after eight a pizza and a bottle of wine or a growler of beer for $30. Service is a lot like the other ones in this restaurant group where everyone helps each other so it keeps things moving and everyone seems very friendly.
