We were in the area Saturday afternoon & decided to grab a quick lunch here. This was our first time trying Farmer Boys. I thought it was a sit down restaurant, but it's more fast food. You place your order at the counter, & they bring it out to you. The girl behind the counter was friendly & sweet. She was also the person who brought our food to us. Hubby got the California BLT. I got the crispy chicken sandwich & made it a combo for hubby & I to share. For a side we got the onion rings. Hubby real liked his sandwich. The ice tea was really good as well. My chicken sandwich was good. We didn't like the onion rings very much. You get 4 large onion rings. The batter is thin. However, it was falling off the onion ring. The reason for only 4 stars is due to the price of the chicken sandwich. It was almost $17 for the sandwich alone. Plus a charge for the onion rings & an additional charge for the iced tea. First time at a Farmer Boys. The storefront is simple with a similar feel to other fast food and fast casual places. The interior is open, bright and clean...the workers must do a good job cleaning up regularly after their guests. I struggle digesting fatty ground beef so I opted for their fish combo with fries and a drink. My wife ordered chicken strips with toast and fries. She almost ordered breakfast food which they offer all day. The counter service was very friendly. We found an open booth and they have many condiments available. Unfortunately, our food was bland. The fish batter has no flavor (better than super salty but barely) and my fries were tasteless. My wife's chicken strips were pressed and looked decent but again no flavor. Maybe we ordered the wrong items but first impression was plain Jane. As everything else was favorable I'll likely try this place again and get a burger or chicken sandwich. I am from CA and this was my family's go-to spot back home. Happy to see a Farmer Boys close to us...however... For a quick lunch for 2 people our bill was 47.00!!! That is just INSANE. Food is mid but it's not worth 47.00. I cannot imagine a family of 4. Will be our last time here and that is just simply for the price. We can get better burgers at In and Out and Whataburger for cheaper. UPDATED REVIEW GOING FROM 2 stars to 1 star: A few bites in--boyfriend ordered the double cheese burger and this poor man doused his burger in ketchup just to get it down. Said the meat patties were hard to digest as previous reviews have stated. My sourdough chicken sandwich was GREASY. Fingers covered in oil. I could only eat 1 half of the sandwich. First time stopping in with a coworker for lunch. The place was busy but not crowded. We were greeted right away and asked if we had questions on the menu. The cashier was very friendly and offered suggestions. The food was really good especially the fries. They were cooked perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I would recommend the chili cheese fries that hold up really well. Burger was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of seasoning. We had several workers come by and ask how we were doing which felt more like a restaurant than fast food. I really liked the atmosphere and employees. 10/10! read more

Expensive with terrible food My daughter and I went here yesterday at 2 pm for lunch. Our bill was 34.40 for a burger, fries and 4 chicken strips. We live close and have been wanting to try this place that we had never been to before. The lady behind the register was rude. I asked for a bacon cheese burger combo. We have a box she said it comes with a mini size drink and a mini size fry. Ok please upsize the fry. You can't do that she said. I had to order a combo. Okay I'll order the combo. Ok so 2 patties, no I'd like one please. Sorry I can't do that. What the F. I don't want 2 patties and I want a regular size fry. Whatever. So we get out food about 10 minutes later. My burger was terrible. It was chewy and had no taste at all. It also had some orangish sauce on the bottom and was covered in cut onions. It was terrible. I ate 2 bites and pushed it to the end of the table and ate fries. My daughter got chicken strips. I had half of one. It was also terrible. She only ate 1.5 of them. They also had no seasoning. The ranch was super runny so we went up and asked for another. The food was terrible, service was just okay. The restaurant was dirty, almost every table had dirty trays and food on them. Though it is a bit pricey for fast service, it was delicious! My Cobb salad was fresh and the ranch homemade. My daughter got a Cobb wrap and ate every last bite. I had tried the location on Higley and Baseline and it was a 5 star review so I was hesitant to try this one closer to my house. Let me say this: My 30 year's hospitality experience says forget the others. Unless you want a biscuit sandwich go to Ckfila but here the quality and menu are 100times better. Had the 2 egg sandwich today and coffee. Was scared because 2 cars were in front of me. Uuugh how will they perform with timely service? 5 stars for friendliness and service. We used to go regularly to the Rancho Cucamonga FB. That was the best location in the FB chain! The food here was as good and the staff here in Gilbert were all very polite & helpful. I've eaten at these in California 20 years ago and they were just OK. I was in the area and needed something to eat so stopped by here. New establishment, nice and clean, well staffed, and mostly friendly (you could tell they were still in training). There are some interior niceties that up-level it over your standard fast food burger joint. Chicken avocado sandwich and a side salad and water came to $19. When it came out the salad was pretty sad for $5, but fine. What was worse was the tiny little chicken breast in the sandwich. Cut uneven one half of the sandwich had maybe half of it with chicken, while the other half had a mere sliver. Now I know you can go the $11 value combos or whatever but I hate to think what the quality of that sandwich is like. Took two trips to find them. First was way south as their opening soon flyer had the wrong address! GPS said do a U-Turn coming in from the north. Land locked location not handy! Cool new food spot for the area. The menu looks inviting. Ordered the cobb salad and Farmer boy cheeseburger. The burger was a little overly greasy, made the box it came in start to fall apart. The salad was sitting sideways in the bag when it was handed over so the appearance wasn't the best, I think next time they should bag the salad separate from the burger so the bag doesn't make them collapse inside together. The young boy was very nice that was at the window that took the payment. My mom liked her salad and my burger was not bad aside from the greasiness. The good: staff is great, service is always on point. The place is clean and it's never busy when I've gone which equals no line or long waits. The bad: prices seem borderline outrageous. I wanted to try the breakfast but the items are the most expensive I've seen in the fast food market. The sourdough chicken avocado sandwich is delicious but not worth the price. Like others mentioned, the chicken breast is really only big enough for either half of the sandwich otherwise you're eating a lot of everything else. It's laughably small for a $12-$13 sandwich (after tax). Suggestions: lower prices or increase serving sizes. Your staff and restaurant are not the problem. They need the rest of the recipe to succeed. Otherwise turn your place into a sit-down fine dining establishment and ditch the drive through. Maintain current pricing but serve alcohol and customers will tip when they get their bill. read more

We were at the Val Vista location last week! The burgers are juicy cooked just the way we wanted. The salad was great, ranch creamy, thousand island and blue cheese both just right as it was at my favorite other Boys favorite restaurant from the before times and long ago. Really disappointed with my recent visit to Farmer Boys. I've been to other locations that were way better--this one completely let down. Paid almost $15 for a sandwich and the portion was embarrassingly small. The portion was tiny, no exaggeration, slider-sized, barely bigger than the palm of my hand, swimming in a huge bun with way too much bread. For that price I expected something substantial, not a kids'-meal portion. Fries were average, nothing special. Sad to say, but I won't be back to this location.
