Great pancakes!…read more Breakfast here was a win. I ordered nothing but pancakes. Buttermilk pancakes and Chocolate Chip pancakes. So so good. They were fluffy, smokin' hot, and beautifully plated. These pancakes are huge too. The plate of pancakes come as a stack of 3. I had a single chocolate chip and added one of the buttermilk pancakes to it and that was still plenty. The server and hostess were very nice and the atmosphere was quiet. I'll be back for lunch :)

This place was surprisingly bad about accommodating my soy intolerance. I called in advance and was…read moretold they cook most things in a canola/olive oil blend, which is good for me. When I got there and ordered, I told the waitress about my intolerance and ordered a salad with chicken. When my food came out, I was told my salad didn't have chicken because I couldn't eat the chicken, or any other meat in the restaurant, because they coat it in Pam spray (soybean oil). For a place that prides itself on making their own dressings, etc., you'd think they could've figured out how to cook chicken in an oil that they use for everything else. Perhaps if they'd communicated better about my intolerance instead of not thinking about it until immediately when my food was ready (which was quite a while after we ordered), they could've found someone in the restaurant who was capable of making non-vegetarian food with something other than soy spray, but I may be giving them too much credit. They also didn't offer us a high chair for our toddler, which was strange. He wound up doing fine in the booth, which was for the best because a high chair probably wouldn't have fit well where we were sitting anyway. The waitress was apologetic and nice about my food screw up and offered to make me something else, but there wasn't much that could be done given that apparently no one in the restaurant knows how to cook meat without soy spray, plus we'd already waited quite a while for our food. The beet salad was tasty, as was the bread with honey butter and the Chai latte, but I would've left feeling more full if I could've added meat to my salad.

Perfect Retirement Celebration Spot! Thank you OHSO Gilbert!…read moreWe celebrated my wife's retirement at OHSO Brewery + Distillery in Gilbert and could not have asked for a better experience. We reserved one of the VIP cabanas and it was ideal for a group. We had our own dedicated server who was incredibly attentive all night, and there were 2 TV's inside the cabana so we didn't miss a minute of the MLB Playoffs on September 30th. So much room to move around and actually have conversations with everyone -- not cramped at all. Best part: we got to bring our dog Ellie to celebrate with us. OHSO Gilbert is super dog-friendly and they even brought Ellie water and a homemade dog treat for the patio. We ordered just about every appetizer on the menu -- the Buffalo Chicken Dip, the potstickers, all of it -- and we really liked them. We ordered dinners and dessert as well and were pleased with all of it. And for a retirement party on a budget, it was very inexpensive. We were able to host an our group, have our own space, and still come in under our retirement celebration budget. From the dedicated server, to the cabana with TVs, to being dog-friendly and easy to book, OHSO made it SO easy. Thanks for making her retirement night so memorable -- we'll be back!

My son had ordered food from here as takeout last year. The food taste was interesting, though, I really like the cheese dip for the pretzel bites. The bites were pretty big. Lots of tables at this location, a bit warm. But our party of 14 was easily accommodated. Our daughter chose this place and it was quite loud. My husband and I are quiet people, so if we were to choose again, probably not here because of the loudness and all the TVs all over the place. But for those who like it loud, TVs and do not mind the prices on the menu, have at it. I don't remember our server's name. If she told us, I couldn't hear what she said. She was alright. Honestly, I had a hard time hearing even my son who sat next to me, and hearing my sister who sat one seat over in front of me, I couldn't hear what she was saying. Loudness is an issue for me and I do not have hearing issues. Our bill with tip came to over $700+. That was the most expensive lunch we've ever spent for our party of 14. Typically we're in the $400-500 range. But it was a special occasion. My husband and son got the 36 hr ribs. My husband really loved them. My son said it was okay. I didn't ask my brother and BIL who also got the same dish. I know my BIL was unhappy that he didn't get the side he requested and when they gave it to him (asparagus, I think), it was cold and he wasn't pleased about this. I got the hub burger and it was okay. There was a lot on the burger, but the patty itself, didn't have that much flavor. Some of the "Starters" or appetizers things were salted too much, but the burger did not taste like it had any salt. I had eaten too many starters so when my food came, I wasn't very hungry and took most of it home and ate for dinner another night. My husband and son do not like coleslaw and I ate theirs. THIS I really liked and tasted much better than KFC. I loved the sweetness and that the cabbage was shredded bigger than KFC. The pretzel bites were good. We got wings, and they were so-so. The roasted brussel sprouts were too salty. The deviled eggs were okay, but pricey for 2.5 eggs, which I do pay at Trader Joe's for organic free range pasturized eggs I could've gotten over 2 dozens. But, yes, I pay for the service and ambiance. I really thought there would be more than 5 halves for the deviled eggs. We got the nachos and they were okay. The melted cheese sauce was the best part. My mom got the fish and chips and she seemed to pick at it. She didn't want to take home, so it must not have been that good because she almost always takes a doggy bag home. My sister had the salmon and it was in a huge bowl and didn't look to be that much food. It was pricey. One of my SILs got something I didn't recognize and she said it was okay. No one I could tell was over the moon with the taste of the food and I heard the word "interesting" quite a bit. It's not that it tasted bad, but it didn't really taste good good. You know what I mean? I did bring a special order cake I got at Nothing Bundt Cakes in Gilbert. I asked Culinary Dropout if we could borrow a cake cutter. They didn't have one. Weird. This was a Red Velvet cake and this was absolutely divine. It was moist. The frosting was some sort of yummy cream cheese frosting. The cake was perfectly sized for our party of 14. The cake was the best part of our meal and it didn't come from Culinary Dropout. I would pay this much for a meal at Roy's for lunch for this sized party, but alas, all the Roy's in the valley are closed down. So sad. I'm not saying this place is bad or the food tastes bad. It's okay and pricey. If the food was great or amazing, we don't mind pricey. We have paid over $1K for meals for our big party, and happily do so when the food is equivalent to the price.

It was my boyfriend's birthday so they also offered him a free pastry. I tried the chocolate chip cookie he picked out which was so good. I told the server I wanted to pay for my boyfriend and he acted like he charged me, however, as he made his way around the table he ended up charging my bf for his meal! My friend and I both ordered mediums with 75% sweetness, and it was the perfect drink for a hot, humid summer morning. Sweet enough to feel like a treat without being over the top. I could probably put that on just about anything. The vibes are wonderful too. It's cozy, welcoming, and the kind of coffee shop where you want to linger with a friend for a while. My only critique is the layout of the front room. There always seems to be a line, but there's not really a good place for it to go besides in front of the entrance and the water station. It turns into a lot of "excuse me" and people weaving around each other. It's definitely a good problem to have because they're clearly popular, but I hope as they continue to flourish, they're able to expand into a larger space or rethink the flow a bit. Either way, I'll absolutely be back. Just save me another coconut brown sugar latte.
