I'm from Michigan and visited Chicago for a mini vacation. I loved everything about this place!!! I heard they remodeled everything because of COVID-19 and they follow guidelines and regulations while still executing great service. The place looks so nice. Everything is white and the pedicure chairs are silver (very luxury like). Suzanne did my nails & she made sure I felt very comfortable with my visit. I highly recommend. read more

Truly the worst nail salon I've ever been to. My nail tech rolled her eyes when I asked her to fix the nail shape, also asked for a full set and they refused and told me "fill only." read more

Sam did an amazing job on my no chip! I've been looking for a new salon ever since my last nail tech left the one I usually went to, and I think I've finally found my new go to spot! It's super reasonably priced (especially for being right off Michigan Ave) and they're super fast & efficient. Sam was also super happy to do a design & executed it perfectly despite my little fingers!! I'll definitely be back & I've posted a photo as well! read more

I'm not one to really post reviews, especially with descriptions, but all that aside.....LET THIS BE A NOTE TO ALL NAIL SALONS. I'm coming to you to pay you to do what I choose to wear on MY nails. I don't care if the polish doesn't cover my nail in the time or amount of coats that you have the patience for, I don't care if I have one broken nail and want to just do that one nail with overlay instead of all ten. It's the reason why I don't go to many nails places anymore, like Hi-Way and Nail Perfection, for example. I didn't ask your opinion about what I asked for, I didn't ask you to vent your frustration to me about what I asked for as you're doing my nails, especially if it's not much and I'm not being a diva about it. Simply do what I'm paying your for. Thank you kindly. read more

Downgrade. After having my nails done (she did a fine job), I decide to get a brow wax too. I'm not a particularly hairy person, so I only do this once every few months to get rid of those blonde hairs I just can't see when grooming myself. So, she proceeds to wax my brows, seems to do an OK job (albeit taking a bit more off than I'd like), then this exchange occurs. Waxer (W): You want me to do your lip? Amanda (AC): No, thank you. Awkward pause. W: Why not? AC: Because I don't want you to. I was annoyed at this point, as I don't have anything worth waxing on my lip. But I was still laying in the chair with hot wax on my face, so I endured this scrutiny. After she finished with the brows, the exchange continued. W: You sure you don't want me to do your lip. AC: Yes, I'm sure. W: ::Giggles:: Hate. Please do not offer to wax anything other than what I have asked to wax. It gives me a complex. Oh yeah, and my eyebrows got ingrown hairs from your over-zealous wax job. She did an OK on the mani-pedi, but for $35, there are better places. Trust me. No more...you served me well while I was poor and in law school, but I refuse to sacrifice quality for price anymore. Suck it. Wax your own damn lip, leave mine alone. read more

I have come here 3 times now, and I just got the pedicure of my life today!! Thank you, Kim! I work conventions for a living--that means I stand it 4-5" heels for a minimum of 8 hours each time I work. Are you picturing the calluses on my feet??!?! Revolting. I haven't felt callus-free feet for maybe 8-9 years...no matter what I did I couldn't get rid of them. Well, the magic potions and tools Kim used melted them away, and I have beautiful baby-soft feet again! Not only that, but the French pedicure itself is perfect. Perfect nail length, perfect white tip thickness...she even accommodated my crazy-hard request to not paint the pink over the white so the white remained crisp and clean...not clouded by the pink. The last gal I had, Lynn, she also made my toes look just as incredible...my feet were just softer with Kim! So request Kim or Lynn, because this place is a diamond in the rough! Who cares if it doesn't look like the Peninsula?! You're getting a better, less expensive pedicure...and the ladies couldn't be nicer. Thanks, Fantasy Nails! read more

My freshly pedicured feet are about as soft as a baby's tush. Seriously. If you have particularly gnarly feet, or it's been a while since your last pedi, I would highly recommend Fantasy Nails. It ain't much from the outside. It looks somewhat dingy and tacky, and the inside isn't much to speak of either, but the pedicure was so good that I will definitely be back. I loved that they really scrubbed my feet. How do I say this without making it seem that I have nasty feet...? Oh who am I kidding, EVERYONE has nasty feet. Seriously. Everyone. But anyway, it had been a while since my last pedicure so I was in need of a good scrub down, and my lady definitely accomplished that. The massages here are amazing! They used this peppermint exfoliating scrub for the first round, spending ample time massaging the leg and foot. And as if that weren't enough, they did a whole second round of massage with lotion. They didn't spend a ton of time on the toes themselves, so that would be my only recommendation for improvement. Perhaps paying a bit more attention to the cuticles and the filing, etc. So maybe my feet aren't actually that bad, because my toes look awfully pretty. The service was fast and friendly. We had purchased a youswoop and we got right in at 1 pm on a Sunday (with an appointment). Can't wait to be back for another awesome pedicure! read more

I've gotten acrylics, pedicures and eyebrow waxing done here and they usually do a great job. My pedicure was nice. It was in a spa chair, with a foot bath and all of that great stuff. I wanted the french treatment and she did them perfectly. I can't even tell you the compliments I got on my toes. The acrylics were mediocre. The way he did them, they made my fingernails look fat. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's true. He dipped a brush in acetone and then a powder and then brushed it on my nails. It felt like he was using too much and my nails looked really thick which was really unflattering for my fingers. They did a good job on my eyebrows. Not too thick but not too thin, either Now for my gripes: This is one of those small shops owned by Koreans, if you're wondering. So unless you can understand thick accents, don't expect to sit and gab while you're being worked on. The prices are a little high but that's to be expected because of the area. I paid 25 for a full set of acrylics, 10 for my eyebrows, and I believe 18-25 for the pedicure. Also, I feel like some of the tools used for waxing and pedicures were not the cleanest. Nothing to complain about really, but if you're anal about one-time use tools this isn't the place to go. All in all, a good experience, I must say. :) read more

The lady managed to hurt the skin around my nails and continued to have my nails and the red skin around it, soak in acetone. Not only that but she was scrubbing my nails so harshly with the buffer afterwards that she lost control once and injured the skin around it. I asked her twice to be more gentle. She did cooperate but gave me terrible attitude. read more

I should have known better... I have a place I usually go to get my nails done, but today I was in a hurry and needed my gel manicure fixed. I walked in and asked if they had time for a gel removal and another gel manicure, they said no problem, they weren't busy. Fine. I sat at the first station with the very young girl there. (Maybe the relative of a worker or owner?) She didnt know what she was doing, at all. I asked for a half moon design, which I normally get at the place I go to, they know what it is and I dont have to explain it. She had no idea what it was and the lady next to her explained it to her. I should have asked for someone else right then, but I didnt. She also didnt know what an "almond shape" was, even though my nails were already shaped that way.... She starts doing my nails and I am seeing that shes not doing it right, I think ok, maybe they do it differently here... No, she had no idea what she was doing. When it comes time for the design, the other lady literally showed her how to do it. And she still didnt get it right so I said forget it. She then hurried up and finished her not so good job of a manicure. The gel polish is all over my cuticles. There is still residue on my nails and lint is stuck to it. I got home and my fiance said my nails look like someone painted them with a marker. I highly doubt she has ever been trained to do nails. I would have asked to see her licence if I had thought of it. Now I have to go back to my normal nail person to get it fixed. It was a complete waste of $35. Wish I had never gone in. It seemed like the other ladies there did a great job, but whoever this young girl was didnt know what she was doing. I wish I could get a refund. Only cash tips allowed. read more

My partner and I were both in the city for a wedding and as luck would have it we got a flat tire. Our hands were not looking wedding appropriate. We saw Fantasy Nails and decided maybe by chance they could make our hands look and feel better. We were greeted at the door and explained our Dilemma. Lihl took us right in and actual put us at ease. She worked on both of us as a professional and made us feel a lot better. We got done in time for the wedding and everyone commented on how good our nails looked. Definitely a must if you are in the city. Five plus Star read more

I really like this place. I've not seen another man there getting a pedicure, but they are always friendly and welcoming. By the way, they are Vietnamese; not Korean. English isn't their first language, but they've always engaged me in light, friendly conversation. No criticism here about their accents. I'll criticize when my Vietnamese is as good as their English! It's a great pedicure and manicure for a very reasonable price. Every time I've gone, it's $35 for a manicure and pedicure. Be sure to bring some cash for a tip because you can't add a tip to a credit card charge. They don't accept Amex. Great value and great service! read more

At my sisters recommendation, I visited Fantasy Nails last week for a mani/pedi. Overall, the place is pretty gross and I question the cleanliness of their tools, but I did get a very nice French manicure that lasted for awhile. While I was there, the 15 year old girl doing my nails asked me if I wanted an eyebrow wax. I was a little bit reluctant, but I knew I was looking kind of hairy up there so I agreed. So she leads me behind the bed sheet separator and sits me down in a rolling desk chair with a Salvation Army pillow headrest (I'm not even kidding). I should have bolted then, but I let her finish because I knew it was only costing me $10. As it turns out, the kid did a good job. Fast forward 3 days. I now have acne around my eyebrows. No sh*t. Not to gloat, but I have great skin (I haven't had acne since my adolescence). So I am 100% certain that the acne came from this unsanitary wax job. Yelpers, you have been warned. I might go back to Fantasy for another mani, but they better keep their hands off my brows (and my bikini line)! read more

(I do Ashiatsu "barefoot" massage too) I was on a tight schedule today so when I was saw walk-ins welcome, I thought maybe I can get my mani & pedi in time. Well sure enough they took me right away. I had Kelly, who was such a sweetheart & did an awesome job in a timely manner too! We had a real nice conversation that made time fly. Mani's and Pedi's are such a luxury- i love them. I was referred to Fantasy Nails by a friend, and walked-in without an appointment. I've been a few times, and its always busy in there. I was never really pleased with my nails, they would have bubbles and cracks in the paint. It was pretty cheap ($32 for spa mani/pedi), so I dealt with it. The reason that I don't go anymore is because the employees are pretty rude. I know its common for them to talk amongst themselves in their native language, but they also laugh at point at girls' hands and feet- something straight out of Seinfeld ya know?! If you have thick skin and a light wallet, this is a convenient spot to go. read more

Davonia is the best! I've been getting no chip polish on my nails every two weeks for over a year and it's been a bear trying to find a new salon once my old one started slacking on quality. I have been here a handful of times, and return when I just want an inexpensive manicure. Today was a gamechanger. I made an appointment for two at 1:30 for manicures. We arrived 5 or 10 minutes early, and were instructed to pick out a nail color. I was hesitant, because although I stated I had an appointment, I noticed that all the technicians were busy. My friend picked out her color quickly, and they sat her down right away. After I picked out my color, I sat next to her and watched her get her manicure. They didn't acknowledge me until 1:55 and asked "oh, manicure?" to which I replied, "no... it's too late now." And I don't even think she cared or realized something was wrong. It's just nails, so it's not the end of the world, but I'm not coming back. If you want to make an appointment for fun because it won't be acknowledged, feel free. Sorry, guys! read more

Even with an appointment, you will wait 15-20 minutes for your scheduled nail tech to start on you. The last time I went Catherine spilled the oil that they rub on your legs during a pedicure on my pants. Not only did she not apologize but she told me how I could clean them. I've been going to this location for years and Catherine took care of me. She does a really good job. It's unfortunate for them that they've lost a loyal customer. read more

Soo I came here after work desperately wanting beautiful long nails. Upon first arriving I asked for a full set which was advertised as $30 outside of the salon. I was handed a basket of unorganized nail color ring samples. There were just too many too look through... after that I was seated by a very old woman who seemed nice. However, she cut my cuticle while filing my nails with a box filer. I didn't want to be problematic so I kind of ignored the pain until I saw that I was bleeding .. I'm sure she noticed before me but didn't take action until I pointed it out. She poured some blue liquid on it and idk what it was tbh with you. Another thing was that my thumb was crooked so I asked to fix that which, I'm glad I spoke on it. The last thing I disliked was the rhinestones are slightly off and that the nail polish poured over on my skin in multiple locations. I even had nail polish on my finger tips. At the end I was charged $60 which ... frankly I'm confused about that still lol but whatever I guesss. I just always look to have quality service with quality prices smh. I have received many compliments on my nails but if u were to look closely u would obviously see the imperfections. I'm still looking for a really great nail salon read more

Fantasy Nails is okay... Hannah is the best!!! She is so sweet, and does a great job. The place, however, is pretty gross. You have to walk downstairs, into a "dungeon" of some sort. The place is very small, although they managed to fit a decent amount of manicure and pedicure stations, especially considering the small space. It does smell a bit like fumes as well. However, it's a good value for the price, and they do a pretty good job. My feet look great! read more

My friend and I went here after work for no chip manis. My no chip, chipped within 8 days, the polish wasn't all the way to my nail bed and overall the quality was just poor. Also, my tech kept standing up and walking away without saying anything to me. My friend's nails weren't any better. They filed her nails crooked to the extent that when we were finished, she looked at her fingers and freaked out. The technician then said she'd have to completely redo the thumb to get the nail even, until another tech came over and said they could just file the nail as it was to save us 30 minutes, which my friend did. Still her nails didn't look great. Lastly, you aren't allowed to tip on credit card anymore. In downtown Chicago, not being able to tip on a credit card is absurd. When you don't have cash they keep badgering you "don't you have any cash? check your purse! there's an atm over there" etc before swiping your card and sighing heavily that they won't be getting a tip. read more

I have gone here a number of times. The girls were always nice to me. The only nasty one was the owner/manager, who sits right at the door. More than nasty, she is hostile. Never, ever a greeting or a Hi, Nice to see you! I never saw her greet anybody, but I may have received extra special treatment - a look that said she wanted to kill me! I think my crime was that I have severe allergies, so I bring my own chemical free and fragrance free products. They are extremely expensive and the girls love using them. Pure African Shea Butter and Simple Sugars. Also polish for my toe nails that is chemical free. Despite bringing my own products and never using their heaters to dry my nails, I paid full price. That was not good enough for Ms Nasty. When she told me I would have to pay MORE I stopped patronizing them and spared myself her angry glares. When questioned, she came up with a ruse. She said I took longer than the others. That is not true! My toe nails are in the same perfect condition as my finger nails. I've been told this by the techs many times. I see the feet of others and there is no comparison. This business model should be used in MBA Programs for how NOT to run a business. Treat regulars badly. Only allow cash tips. Look angry or super bored at the front door. Charge extra for allergies to chemicals There is more, but who has time to write it all or even read it. This should suffice! read more

DO NOT COME HERE, unless you want to bleed while getting a regular manicure and pedicure. There was no need to file my nails hard, and I get monthly manicures and pedicures. The nail tech charged $45 for a manicure and pedicure, in which she was constantly on her phone, left me unattended for 30 minutes, and filed my skin (not my nail) on my toe. My toe started to bleed, and she cleaned it with cotton and squirted acetone on it to prep the nail for polish. Acetone on an OPEN wound. I immediately applied antiseptic after my experience there. I never write reviews, but consumer beware. There are other options nearby that offer cleaner results, better customer service, and competitive pricing. read more
