    Tape buried inside my food
    Mai S.

I've been a regular here for a long time because I love the food, but tonight was my final visit. While the male server was friendly, the woman serving me was dismissive, avoided eye contact, and seemed annoyed when I asked for sauce. To make matters worse, she gave me smaller portions than my friends who were served by the male server. However, the dealbreaker was finding a piece of tape buried in my food. I didn't realize it until I was chewing on it and felt the sticky residue. I can overlook mediocre service, but a physical contaminant in my meal is a major health concern. It feels like this place has become so popular that they no longer care about quality control or customer experience.

I love Falafel stop! Their salad is so filling and has an assortment of so many veggies that it makes it absolutely delicious! Their falafel is also moist and crispy, not dry at all. They are very generous with their servings, as the salad and falafel is always two meals for me. The workers are super friendly and their is plenty of seating indoors and outside. I always come back here when i'm craving falafels.

Been a while since I came here and reviewed so just wanted to do a quick recap. Wasn't planning on stopping here but was driving by and decided to get some lunch to go. As usual, this place never disappoints! Friendly and quick service! Got the 1/2 falafel and gobbled it up as soon as I got to my destination. 10/10 recommend!

ummmm bring back in the bay area for 6 years and having this spot on my bookmark for 6 years - a few weeks ago was my first time eating at falafel stop lol unbelievable! i loved it! esp after i ate at achilles in like this place is a thousand times better!!!! definitely will return again!!! id say the only thing that i didn't like as much was the falafels themselves - prolly controversial but ive jus had way better.

Falafel Stop serves large portions of mediterranean food with a side of pita bread and salads. The menu has a large variety of meats to choose from which comes with hummus, salads, and fries. Jerusalem Mix plate had chicken sauteed with spices, served on a plate of different salads and fries. Grilled Kebab plate had beef, served on a plate of different salads and fries. Parking lot is small but accommodating if it isn't too busy. Seating is at outdoor seating with picnic tables. After ordering, receipt numbers are called to pick up the food. There are two lines since one side is vegetarian whereas the other kitchen side has all the meat options. Overall a place for delicious mediterranean food in enormous portions!

I stopped by on a Sunday early for lunch. The place was getting filled up then. By the time I finished lunch, there was a rush. Falafel pita was my favorite item. Their falafal was excellent. Chicken kabob on plate and Shawarma on plate were my other entrees. Both were flavorful items.

I went with the chicken shawarma plate, which comes with rice and a variety of veggies. The chicken shawarma was flavorful and had a nice smoky rotisserie taste and aroma that stood out. The rice was cooked nicely and had a soft texture, while the veggies were fresh and balanced the meal well. Everything came together in a way that felt satisfying without being too heavy. The portion size was generous and well worth the price, which can easily feed two people. The customer service was great, and everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. There was also plenty of parking, which made the trip easy and convenient.

So good! One of the few places I crave on a regular basis and need to get my fix. They do a great job, super-authentic, delicious flavors, great service, and very very casual vibe and very fun, like a social picnic!

First off, they weren't very clean in there. Really went downhill the past few years. They gave me the meat that had already been carved and sitting at the bottom for a while. This place was disgusting. Just under $20 for this. Only giving them 2 star 'cause I've had their falafel and I believe that that is their saving grace. Could work on their customer service as well. Don't understand how they have the reviews that they do.

Their food is really good! Anytime I go to Sunnyvale, I always get this place. It's super healthy and filling. The price isn't bad as well. The staff are friendly and the vibes are nice. They have different dishes you don't normally see at other places, I'd highly recommend checking this place out if you ever have the chance!

Have you been to Falafel Stop yet? If not, you are missing out. The customer service and food quality are both top-notch. They have also recently opened Italian Ice and Cream in the same parking lot, which is equally amazing. I highly recommend trying both; I am sure you will love them.

Falafel Stop always hits the spot when I'm craving some Mediterranean food to-go. Every time I visit, I tend to order something with falafel. They're so crispy and packed with flavor, I think they're some of the best I've eaten, I also enjoy getting the Chicken Shawarma Hummus Plate, the portion is always a hefty amount. The tahini sauce is delicious as well. Sometimes I'll get it in a Pita, but I feel that the plate is easier and less messier to eat.

I have been coming here very long time because the meat is kosher. Last visit when I asked they said it was NOT kosher. And it was never kosher l. So is the meat kosher or not?

The restaurant has never been kosher, you can get a clue to that by the fact that feta cheese is served in the Greek salad and meat is on the menu. A kosher restaurant will display their kosher certification and fully abide by the laws of kashrut.… Read more

    Yes

What is the difference between "on a hummus plate" and "on a plate with hummus"?

Well, "on a hummus plate" usually means hummus is the featured food and "on a plate with hummus" usually means it's a side.

Is it vegan friendly? or do they fry the falafel balls in the same oil as meat?

This is vegan friendly We have vegetarian section

Do they take orders over the phone for pick up?

Yes. People do call in orders for pick up.

What oil do they use for cooking?

Not that I was aware of.. it's just plain good old falafel joint.

Yesterday, I ordered a Vada Pav, Shalimar Egg Mughlai (on their recommendation from their list of egg dishes), and a Veg Frankie -- and honestly, none of it lived up to the hype(5 stars currently) or price point. Vada Pav: It was okay. The "mirchi" served alongside was literally a raw Thai green chili. Really? At least pan-fry it with some salt and oil to enhance the flavor. For over $10 with taxes, this was already pricier than better Vada Pavs you can get at places like Elco Drive, and yet it offered nothing exceptional. Frankie: This one made me genuinely angry. It was a soggy maida roll stuffed with the same aloo masala from the Vada Pav, plus a few sad shreds of cabbage. That's it. And they had the audacity to charge $12 for it. ($1.50 for cheese, lol I am glad we didn't add)This isn't a Frankie -- it's a lazy repackaged Vada Pav with no flavor or creativity. They threw in some pickled jalapeños on the side, which only added confusion. If you're running a fusion menu(well partially), at least mention it upfront instead of misleading customers. Egg Shalimar Mughlai: At $13, it was passable but still not impressive. The bun on the side was not toasted or anything. Better than the Frankie, but nothing I'd recommend or return for. I was so excited for trying this place but, overall, this place is overpriced, underwhelming, and frankly disappointing. If your Vada Pav and Frankie are practically identical, maybe inform customers before they order both. I wouldn't recommend Maya Kitchen -- save your time, appetite and money and go somewhere else. A food truck, not to mention a highly rated food truck was the perfect solution for what I needed. I couldn't resist the NYC Chicken Tikka Masala, because I enjoy all four words of that dish, so what could go wrong? The guy made it for me and handed me this thick boy to-go box, which I promptly walked to my rental car and opened up to see a 10/10 visually appealing heaping meal. And then I took a bite and.... where was the flavor? I took another bite. Same thing. And another. And another. Bland tikka masala?? How does this happen? After I had several bites, I came to the conclusion that it tasted like chicken dipped into water. There was literally no taste to the sauce. Was an ingredient forgotten? Did I come to close to closing time (30 minutes)? I really don't know. I enjoyed the pita bread and the salad concoction, but I will forever be bummed thinking about the alternative places I almost visited before choosing to grab dinner here.

This one was disappointing enough to feel worth documenting. My boyfriend and I ended up here after attempting to go to Treehouse nearby (which had an hour wait--unsurprising given the concept). This restaurant was a short walk away, which actually worked out well given how congested the area was, and we walked in optimistic. The space itself is very large, but nearly empty for a weekday evening. It felt family-owned and casual, which I usually love--many of my favorite restaurants fall into that category. Unfortunately, the experience didn't reflect that warmth. We were given a different menu than other diners, which immediately felt odd. Service wasn't overtly rude, but it was noticeably unwelcoming--almost a "why are you here?" tone rather than hospitality. We ordered hummus and feta, both of which were surprisingly expensive for the portion and quality. We were told bread would arrive automatically with the hummus, but it didn't--despite asking multiple times. When it finally arrived, it was poorly cooked and no longer served any purpose, as we were already well into the meal. Despite the restaurant being far from busy, our mains took about 30 minutes. One dish--a kebab--was fine but very forgettable for a $30+ price point. My dish, dumplings in a yogurt-based sauce, was honestly inedible. I left it untouched and mentioned that it didn't taste good. The response was simply, "Oh, so you don't want a box?" No attempt to fix the issue or even acknowledge it. What sealed it for me was the overall condition of the place. Dirty cutlery, a generally rundown interior, and a lack of attention to cleanliness made it uncomfortable to eat there. I'm not picky about ambiance when the food and service deliver--but here, nothing quite worked together. The whole experience felt very turn-and-burn, as if the restaurant relies on proximity to a popular area rather than repeat customers. I left feeling like unless you're part of a specific in-crowd, this isn't a place that's trying very hard to win you over. Personally, I wouldn't return, and I wouldn't recommend it--especially given the pricing and the many better options nearby.
