I had a bad experience here last year. First, I agree that Dr. Idrizovic gave me a sales pictch. I orginally saw another Dr, who was fine, but I was told I had to return to see Dr. I because she was a dry eye specialist. Not only was I kept waiting over an hour for this appointment, but my insurance didn't cover it so I had to pay for it. Dr. I recommended that I have a series of laser treatments at $250 each. AND she told me a horror story about how I could go blind if I didn't do it. Then, when my glasses came in the alignment or something was way off. I had it checked and redone redone twice. The lenses alone cost $650 because they were progressives with prism. (They were never right but I gave up.) When I told them I couldn't see well enough to drive wearing the glasses, they didn't believe me and said I just had to get used to progressives even though I explained that I had had progressives before. So, I had to return three times and wait a long time even though I had appointments. At the time, I wrote a negative review. The owner contacted me and asked me to take it down and he'd give me a free pair of prescription sunglasses lens. (I provided the frames.) I'm submitting this again because it's a year later and I went to another eye doctor. Now, after a good experience at Boston Vision, I know I was right to complain. Sure, prescriptions change, but I found out the contacts didn't even correct my astigmatism, which is the main reason I wear them, and the glasses were way off. Not only that, but no one tried to sell me any lasers or drops or eye masks. When it came to tests, they carefully explained my choices because some were included under my insurance and others weren't. read more

I was pushed into extra treatments (especially dry eye services)that felt unnecessary and profit-driven, with no explanation. Billing was just as frustrating. Despite having vision insurance, they ran things through my medical insurance instead, leading to surprise charges and poor transparency. Since being acquired by All Eyecare, Eyespot Chestnut Hill has clearly lost its integrity. It now feels corporate, aggressive, and focused on maximizing revenue rather than patient care. We went back after I had my cataract surgery and found poor service and rushed. I was given an appt which was changed twice for, what turned out to be fine excuse. When I came for the appt. I've been meaning to write this review for a while, but life happens. In November and December 2024, I had my first (and last) appointments at Eye Spot. I've worn contacts since the early 2000s, so I've had plenty of experience with optometrists. Unfortunately, my experience here was terrible from start to finish, and I wish someone had warned me before I booked. I arrived on time for my appointment but ended up waiting over an hour to be seen. During my eye exam, Dr. I strongly pushed the idea of switching to "daily wear" contacts, claiming my eyes were irritated because I wasn't replacing my "monthly wear" lenses frequently enough. When I assured her that I followed the replacement schedule but maybe go a week over here or there, she outright told me she didn't believe me. Her approach felt unnecessarily aggressive, but I decided to give the daily lenses a try and returned a couple of weeks later to evaluate them. At my follow-up appointment (which had me in the waiting room another 25 minutes), the assistant asked which daily brand I wanted to buy. I asked for a cost breakdown first, and after reviewing the numbers, it was clear they were far outside my budget, even with insurance and bulk discounts. I informed her that I preferred to stick with my monthly lenses. When she relayed this to Dr. I, it was obvious the response wasn't well-received. When I went into the room, Dr. I immediately confronted/pounced on me about my decision. I explained that while the daily lenses were nice, they were simply unaffordable for me. Her reaction was so aggressive and uncomfortable that I felt pressured throughout the rest of the visit. We proceeded with a second eye exam using a new pair of lenses to test the prescription, but when I put them in, my vision was blurry, and the contacts didn't sit right. Dr. I insisted the prescription was correct and chalked it up to my astigmatism, saying it might take time to adjust. I squinted through the rest of the exam. At the end of the appointment, Dr. I finally relented and ordered monthly lenses, though it was clear she wasn't happy about it. She tried to smooth things over by giving me a handful of free contact solution samples, but the damage was done. When I got home, I swapped the lenses between my eyes, and like magic, I could see clearly. A closer inspection of my original sample boxes revealed that they were labeled correctly, but Dr. I had recorded the wrong prescriptions for each eye in the system and this was reflected not only on the written eye prescription I asked to be sent to my email, but the monthly boxes I ordered and later received. If I'd ordered glasses instead of contacts, this mistake could have been a nightmare to fix. However, seeing as I can relabel the boxes and put the correct lens in the correct eye, its resolvable from my end. But nonetheless, as a professional optometrist she literally gave me the WRONG prescription. Needless to say, this was the WORST, most uncomfortable experience I've ever had with an optometrist. Dr. I's pushy, aggressive sales tactics made it clear she prioritized profits over patient care, especially with her hard sell on daily lenses. To top it off, when I picked up my monthly lenses, everyone ahead of me was collecting dailies, reinforcing my suspicions. If you don't enjoy pushy upselling, careless mistakes, and uncomfortable experiences, steer clear of Eye Spot. read more

I had my eyes examined @ Eye Spot Chestnut Hill, the Dr was great. Spent $7,000 getting several pairs of glasses, sun glasses, & computer glasses. I told them when I made the appointment I had Vision benefits 2 plans so I can submit for one pair of glasses to each plan. They are in network with VSP vision care, they looked it up and told me it is active plan when I made the appointment & Davis is not in network with them , but I can submit for an out of network benefit. I told the lady about these plans & showed her the Davis form when I was selecting the glasses she said they would do that at the end. picked up my glasses today, they refused to sign the Davis form that the Dr examined me & they dispensed the glasses & didn't use my VSP benefit. Update I did receive a call back from the business and they did assist my submission for out of network benefits by signing the form I needed stating they examined my eyes & gave me glasses Also accessed my VSP benefits which is a co they are in network with. read more

Then in the appointments she tried to aggressively upsell me on unnecessary procedures. What a racket. On my way out of the office she had the audacity to tell me that the problem is that I made my appointment for 11:30 am. She said that if I make an appointment for earlier in the morning, she won't be so behind. It is absolutely not my fault that she can't manage her schedule. I wish I could get back the fee they made me pay for a pointless dry eye test that they did. (They had to do the text three times because the tech couldn't run it properly.) I went into this place and asked if I could get a pair of glasses fixed since one of the legs had loosened. The lady who helped me out looked annoyed that I had even asked. She asked to see the glasses, which I had to take out of my bag and my friend who came with me saw her roll her eyes as if she was annoyed that I didn't have them in my hand already. She then gave me a form and told me the price (which was fine that's not what I am upset about) and kept a sour attitude when I asked how long it was going to take. I'm not sure what her deal is but after seeing how business is run here, I decided not to pay however much it was to get the glasses fixed. read more

I do not leave reviews but feel I must for the horrific way I was treated by the owner/manager of Eyespot. The context: My husband (posted as Shawn R here) purchased $1500+ of eyewear and had a lot of issues with customer service - you can read his review from 9/12/23 separately. Dr.Dzenana Idrizovic called him, hoping to regain trust by offering his wife (me) a free pair of lenses (email attached). It was a bait and switch. After 1+ hrs in the store, an eye exam, Dr. Idrizovic said, "oh I am sorry, the deal is only if you purchase frames here". The lenses were $1300 without a frame purchase and frames I did not even like were $600+ so I left empty-handed, feeling I'd wasted my time. Dr. Idrizovic called my husband back asking why I did not get glasses, and he told her I'd felt pressured to spend money on expensive frames I did not like and to just forget it. He also still hadn't received the glasses he'd bought months ago. She backpedaled hard, "that's not what I meant. She misunderstood-I will give her the lenses. And can you remove your Yelp review?". There was a lot of back and forth the next several weeks to rectify incorrect contacts Rx's, lenses that I couldn't see out of due to incorrect placement of the transition point of the progressive lens, etc. On our final encounter, I went to pick up my completed glasses and to order contacts. A man I'd not met before asks my name to look up my Rx, and when I tell him, he stops typing and glares at me. "I know your name. Your husband gave us a very hard time and he won't take down his Yelp review". I explained that it certainly had not been a smooth process even after the Yelp review, and moreover, it was not my review to remove. He became enraged, jumped up from the counter, and says "You know what? I'm not giving you any lenses. Leave!" He thrust my glasses at the stunned optician and said, "take the new lenses out and give her back her old ones!" and then gets in my face and says, "see, doesn't feel good does it? Just like when we try to make your husband happy and he won't remove the review. Get out of my store!" He refused to give me his name but said he owns all 17 Eyespots. I asked to have my contact Rx printed out so I could fill my Rx elsewhere, or for him to return my $150 I had paid for the fitting. He said, "you're not getting anything back from me." I persisted for the Rx, so he said "someone will send it to you". I left, shocked and shaken by the aggression and rage in this person. So far it has been a week and my emails to Dr. Idrizovic asking for my Rx have gone ignored. Bottom line - buyer beware. You shouldn't be abused anywhere, but you certainly should not be abused at a store who charges their exorbitant prices and claims to provide a great experience. My husband and I are both professionals and don't waste time writing reviews but this was so egregious I felt it necessary. Look at the reviews. Shop for glasses somewhere else. I purchased glasses 1/22 and within a year I had to return them for defective lenses. I then had to return them again for the same problem but was told that they were no longer under warranty and would have to spend $995 for new lenses. I spoke to the manager, Whalid with no satisfaction. He said he would replace the lenses with a much more superior lens for $400. My question to him was why didn't you give me superior lenses when I first bought my glasses? They are rude and don't stand behind their merchandise. This should not happen to lenses after two years. I have been wearing glasses for 40 years and never had a problem. I believe they give you an inferior product so you have to replace them in two years. Stay clear of Eyespot! read more

I needed new contact lenses and glasses. I had gone to a cheaper place up the street for progressive glasses; however, they weren't appropriately fitted. I had to fold up tissue paper and place it on the bridge of my nose to raise them to a position where I could read the text comfortably on my computer screen. And the glasses fell off my face whenever I bent my head, no matter how many times I adjusted them! So, I went to Eyespot. The measurement and fittings for contact lenses and glasses were perfect. First, Dr. Dzenana Idrizovic ensured I had the right prescription; then, she sent me home with sample contact lenses to ensure I could see while driving and still read on my computer screen. The sales guy was fantastic too. He knew the perfect frames for my face and intuitively understood what I'd like, making the ideal suggestions for both sunglasses and prescription glasses. On top of all that, I was going on a cruise and immediately needed my contact lenses and glasses. Eyespot bent over backward to get them delivered in time. The eye exam went well, but the real fun was Salesperson X. He scored empathic points almost miraculously by picking frames he thought I would like. I second Sean C. I've been coming to this place for the past 3 years. Owner changed. I was charged double the amount of what I have paid in the past, close to $200 for an annual exam even with insurance. I couldn't even get my contact lens prescription afterwards because the doctor gave me trial contact lens which I never agreed to. She didn't explain to me difference amongst the contact lens companies and the point of trial. Just gave them to me without explaining to me that without "check up", she can't give me a prescription. No explanation, nothing. I was content with my contact lens. Never asked for my opinion. She also put the eye machine on my nose, asked me if I can see. I obviously can't because the view is blocked. Then she proceeded to tell me I should be able to see through my right eye for vision test. She had both eyes open and everything was blurry. I've been going to annual exams since 2004 and this has never happened to me. When I told her I think you have the left side open, she proceeded to say 'oh' and just moved on. I've worn contact lens for over 10 years and never had this kind of experience. Also had to wait 40 minutes for the doctor to see me even though I made this appointment 2 weeks ago. I was charged initially $99 up front for comprehensive and then another $95 AFTER the doctor saw me. Front receptionists never explained to me the breakdown for pricing. Just charged me. The front receptionist is horrible. Fatina/tima? Horrible. I asked for itemized bill and she said that it will be sent in the afternoon because they don't get the information from credit card company until then. When I showed her itemized bill from last year, she told me that the reason for increased pricing is because the doctor is a specialist. I asked, for my annual exam, why do I need a specialist? She said that's just how it is for pricing. For reference, with the SAME insurance last year, I paid $75. For this visit, I paid $194 WITH same insurance and was charged again AFTER seeing the doctor. They didn't mention that I will be charged again after the visit. So they charged my credit card twice. When I talked over the phone, Tina or Time or whatever said that's just how they charge clients. Are you kidding me? She also put me on hold to "figure" something out for me, never returned for 15 minutes, and when I called back immediately, she put me on hold right away. Didn't even say 'how can I help you'. She knew I was calling and kept on putting the call on hold immediately. I called 6 more times, she didn't pick up and forwarded me to Burlington location. If they keep the same name, same patients, shouldn't they keep the same level of service? Doctor sat me outside right after my appointment without explaining to me why I needed new glasses. Prescription was the same. Her reason was because online glasses cannot be trusted. If you're a returning patient, avoid this place at all cost. read more

Melanie gave me individualized and undivided attention while selecting a frame. She is very patient and showed me frames based on what I told her I liked. Very poor customer service and communication once they have your money. Promised both eyeglass orders to be available in 2 weeks-- wasted a lot of time coming in to check at 3 weeks, 4 weeks and now 5 weeks (no phone calls or emails for updates given despite promises to do so). Always told by a different person "its taking longer than expected and we left messages wit the lab but we have not received an update" -- seems like a reasonable excuse the first time, but not the third time over two weeks. Asked to speak with a manager the last time only to be told there was not one available - and then one eventually came out begrudgingly (and defensively) saying the lab is beyond their control and there was nothing they could do. Was promised a call the following Monday with an update which never came. Based on the Google reviews this may be a one-off experience but at this price-point I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

One of the best decisions I've ever made was to start using SPF on my face religiously in my 20's. The problem is most of the sun damage we get occurs during our teen years. I wanted to reverse those telltale signs of aging & decided to sign up for a series of Photo-facials at EYESPOT. I'm thoroughly impressed with the results as well as the customer service. Their trained & knowledgeable esthetician has such a gentle touch making the whole experience a delight & virtually painless. I now get asked constantly what I've done to my skin to achieve such a youthful glowing complexion. I recommend all to go get these treatments as there is no fountain of youth found in a jar. In order to achieve a more even skin tone & texture "intense pulsed light" is most definitely required! I would rate this experience with 10 stars if I could! read more

Dr. Savitz takes the time to explain what she's doing and why, what's going on with my eyes and vision, and to discuss alternatives (specifically re my question about different contact lenses). I'd probably give this place four stars just for the parking. But the cleanliness and precautions (in this, the COVID era), the ease of scheduling, the atmosphere in the store, and the optician (as previously mentioned) all combine to deserve ten stars (at least). This had to be the MOST fun experience I've ever had getting my eyes checked and then following up with my selection of the right frames. The office and shop are so cool with all the latest high tech equipment to assist in examining and choosing the right frames. First of all the optometrist, Dr Glenda Berman, is as pleasant and attentive as any eye doctor that I've ever seen. Her description of any possible medical issues with my vision was very understandable. She gave me a clear picture of what to expect and put me at ease with her patience and explanation. Second, since it sometimes can be difficult for me to look in the mirror and decide what eyeglasses to buy, the staff was extremely helpful in advising without being pushy. Even Dr Berman took a few extra minutes to express her opinion of how I look! I especially enjoyed the quick snapshots they took of my face with a whole bunch of frames. That way, I could step back for a few minutes and think about how I'd look in pix! I'm not usually a big reviewer but since this experience was so positive, I thought I'd pass the word. read more

I recently when to EYESPOT for a way overdue eye exam. This was my first time getting my eyes examined here. I thought they did a really thorough job of examining my eyes and making it go by really quickly. Since I ended up needing glasses, they helped me search through the huge selection of frames to help find the right pair for me. They even take your picture so you can see what frames look like on you as opposed to just looking in the mirror. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. They gave it to my honestly, some glasses I liked, they let me know they wouldn't work with my prescription. And so many choices. It was great. I love the atmosphere as well. Modern, comfortable. Very one on one service. I ended up finding a pair elsewhere I really fell in love with, but nonetheless, they are very close to my home. My wife's experience with eyespot was awesome. She has very bad eyesight and needed a formal eye examination to examine her retina. She also needed a pair of progressive lenses. At eyespot she was able to get a full exam of her eyes including an optical CT scan of her retina which was read by a trained retina specialist. She had no problem picking out beautiful frames assisted by the friendly and patient staff. They helped her find many frames which could accommodate her specific lenses and she ended up with a great pair. read more

What a horrible place. I went in asking for an adjustment and they embarrassed me by asking if I bought them there. I said no. So then she asked me what the problem was. Well if you knew you were going to fix them why ask if I bought them there? So I thought I was going to have my frames fixed for which I would have gladly paid but then she says she's not responsible if she breaks them at which point I walked out. The receptionist said they were very, very busy but she asked and the guy came from the back and adjusted my glasses perfectly.
