Bay state eye associates is absolutely the best place to go to get a through eye exam done by Michael K Edelstein O.D His staff are so friendly and professional that i can see why many customers including myself keep coming back Special thanks to Robin, Susan and John who work here that make each visit a pleasant one . Prices are reasonable and they work hard to get your glasses or contacts back quickly. I highly recommend. Thank you Linda Daughtry

Why is a girl enshringed in designer threads hobbling around like a baby giraffe, bear-hugging complete strangers, and mistakenly slathering on conditioner as strangely sticky moisturizer? Blind as a bat and completely miserable. Why and how I lost and could not replace my contact lenses is another matter. I made an appointment with a google-d and seemingly reputable optometrist. Even in my pathetic blearly-eyed state, I thought I had walked into a Baltimore city, run-down, stuck-in-the-early-90s optmetrist's office. The plastic racks were yellowing and Adrienne Vittadini was laughably referred to as designer eye wear (I'm in my 20s, not 50s). Frivolities aside, the office workers were pleasant and helpful and Dr. Edelstein was very amiable and marvelously quirky. Being color blind, he painted some of the paneling in his office BRIGHT PINK, dare I say, MAGENTA. He uses some of the most advanced machines I've ever seen (and clearly I'm an expert on this matter) and he's very knowledgable about eye balls. Apparently, the president of my univ. is a patient along with many Brandeis students. However, I couldn't get over the feeling that he wanted me to order contact lenses and a new pair of glasses from his office. However, his prices are much higher than 1800CONTACTS so I could not be tempted. An eye exam is $135, which made me want to weep bloody tears out of my sightless eyes...(in Texas, it would be less than half that!). Compared to other eye doctors in the area, I'm assuming that's normal especially since a trial pair of contacts and every diagnostic test conceivable are thrown in.

Best optometrist I've been to in the (almost) twenty years I've worn contacts and glasses. The doctor was extremely educated and thorough, and the gentleman at the front desk was fabulous! He went through the details of my insurance and not only dealt with my irrationally based, obsessive hunt for new frames, but gave great feedback and suggested several pairs that were great picks. His honesty about which did/didn't look good was extremely refreshing and cut my browsing time in half! (If only my husband were so straightforward- I'd probably never be late!) I will be sticking with this office from now on :)

Can I get the dmv vision screening certificate here? If so, how much does the certificate costs?

You can definitely get it here, but I can't remember the cost. (I used to work here.)

One review of the prescription by a BJ's doctor acknowledged a problem with the prescription. I was told it was "off by 2 measures." Subsequently overheard a comment indicating a staggering level of inaccuracy. They tried to adjust the two pairs of glasses resulting in different, yet equally unusable glasses. The eye exams by the remote staff are extraordinarily rushed and sometimes presented a language barrier. Also, the two pair of glasses appeared to be of different prescriptions. As it turns out, BJ's assumes no responsibility for the end product. After an initial adaptation period I went to Home Depot and found that I could not read the labels on products. These labels were perfectly readable with my previous pair of glasses. Subsequent use of the glasses proved fruitless. Apparently there are more individuals having issues with BJ's optical. It may be time to share our experiences in an effort to solve problems that have cost some people hundreds of dollars with no return of value. The commentary from BJ's leads a consumer to believe that they assure the provisioning of functional eye glass wear. They do not. It's the consumer's perception of the materials and verbal representations that are relevant. Do not buy eye glasses at BJ's. They also have a habit of upselling sometimes useless options and advertising attractive pricing but dancing around the actual operation of the discounts.

The gentleman that works there was extremely nice and helpful with trying to find certain comics my oldest was looking for. The pricing is reasonable too, if I didn't budge well I'd leave that store with empty pockets but with a treasure trove of goodies.

Today half of the store was sectioned off and unavailable, limiting their stock to less than half of what they have. Signs say that this is due to "reorganization", but employees have no information as to when it will be opened up and shoppers can only look at half of the store across barricaded pathways. I've never been at a store that can't manage inventory reorganization during off hours, especially given the amount of store closures this location has due to staff meetings (which I've also never seen a retail store be closed for). It's super frustrating that the store can't get their act together. Every "improvement" comes at the cost of customer convenience. It's honestly like the owner has never worked in a retail environment before. I keep trying to find things to like about this store, as it used to be one of my absolute favorites. Needless to say, they're making it incredibly hard to find reasons to come here. Side note: the staff are the only redeeming aspect of the store.
