AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Kush Patel is incompetent optician. I went to this place because I was traveling soon and couldn't get in into my regular optician. He totally SCREWED UP my eye exam (how hard is that??) and missed diagnosed my astigmatism by TWO POINTS! And they couldn't get one of their machines to work. Plus he said such a big change was very unusual and it might be corneal disease and sent me MERSI in Waltham for another exam and more $$$. All they wanted to do there was talk about surgery for my cataracts (which is not needed) Maybe Patel gets a kickback? So when I got my glasses, my vision was totally distorted and I was dizzy. So I finally went to a real optician at Newton Wellesley Eye Associates, they confirmed I actually had very little change in my RX and fortunately, the great folks at Focal Point in Newton changed to the correct RX without any charge. Dr. Segal is awesome and I would give him 5 stars. He is patient and explains things as he does them. The other people that work there are a different story. I observed one man speak in a very mean and insulting tone to a customer who did not raise his voice and was asking questions about scratches on his glasses. The man was Indian and I had to wonder if his race was a factor in how he was being treated, which was very upsetting. The people who do the checking out explain the insurance benefits and the pricing in the most confusing way and become vexed when asked to explain it again or more clearly. When I expressed dismay, instead of apologizing for being curt they became more annoyed and unpleasant. I will probably keep going here for Dr. Segal and I hope the customer service will improve. read more

I was referred to Dr Siegel from my Retina Dr to see him for contact lenses, as I have Macular issues in my right eye . He did a wonderful job and gave me some lenses to try , I'm still in my trial phase but confident that I will find a great fit! After I visited Dr Siegel I needed new glasses as well. These people broke my glasses and wouldn't replace them. They only offered a discount to buy replacements from them, as if they'll ever get my business again. Do not go here unless you want to be treated like a piece of garbage. EDIT: I was not warned that my frames were old. In fact, they are NOT that old. I haven't even been wearing glasses long enough for them to be very old. Second, the waiver was given to me a standard part of your service and told that frame breakage was quite rare. It's not as if my frames were inspected and then I was given some dire warning. You service involves breaking my glasses, and now I'm out $300. And you really think I'm going to give you MORE business after you broke my stuff? If anything, this comes across as a big con to get people to buy more frames from you. "Oh darn, your frames broke! Don't expect to just walk in. The doors are locked & you can't even look at glasses without a salesperson. I drove 25 min, had to fight for parking 5 min, wait outside the door 5 minutes, and 30 minutes to be allowed to stand up & look. This sucks big time. read more

I had Drew help me pick out my prescription glasses and not only did he know right away EXACTLY what frames would be perfect for my face (I typically spend at least 30 minutes picking out frames and within 5 minutes I had glasses and prescription sunglass lenses picked!), but he is so knowledgeable and such a joy to talk to! It was time to get my eye examed and get new glasses and I chose this place based on my experience with them when my daughter got her glasses. Dr Seigel was very nice and helpful. Explained what kind of glasses may be better for me. I visited this place during the pandemic and while it may take a bit of time waiting, that is expected. The staff make sure everyone use hand sanitizers and make sure all frames were sanitized after customers tried them on. When I picked up my glasses, the staff spend time time to adjust it so it fit my face better. I have been wearing glasses for over 35 years and they spent the most attention in making sure the bend the arms and nose pieces just right. read more

I was there last year for an eye exam. I had both vision insurance and medical insurance, and I told them to use my vision insurance to cover the exam. However, they still billed my medical insurance!! Or probably they billed both. I would suggest anyone going there be very careful about it! read more

I've been here 3 times now. I see Dr.Siegal. He has a very calm demeanor, he speaks very clearly and explains everything really well. The other employees are also very friendly and professional. I just left, I got a new prescription and the woman that helped me was so patient. I didn't understand the difference in the types of lenses and the reason for choosing one vs the other. I asked her about them on the phone when I called about coming in today, and then again in person because I didn't know what was best for me. She didn't rush or seem impatient, she adjusted my old glasses because she noticed they were loosening up. She was just so sweet. I forgot her name but she said she's only been there a couple months. I'm happy with them and I love my new lenses, I walked outside and they were so clear it didn't feel like I had them on! read more

As someone in their mid-30's who has never worn glasses, the idea that I would need to start wearing them was nerve wracking to say the least. The doctor and all of the staff were so patient, kind and helpful. The woman who helped me pick out my frames was conscious of my budget but also really had an eye for what frames look good on different people and found a bunch that looked great. I think the first time I came here to get a pair of glasses, I was in middle school and they were still located by the Star Market in Chesnut Hill. They have since moved to Needham St. and now I'm 24, but they're still great. The service there is impeccable. Marcia usually helps me and my family, but everyone else there is just as nice. You can always stop by to get your glasses adjusted without feeling resented by the staff. Great styles to choose from as well!!! I had glasses for all of two or three days and I was becoming frustrated because they were uncomfortable after wearing them for awhile. Rather than travel a couple dozen miles back to my optometrist's office to address my needs, I looked for a place close by that might be able to help me out. Pearle Vision jumped out at me as I'd seen the name before, so off I went to Pearle. Upon setting foot through the door I was serviced almost immediately. Someone helped adjust the pads on the bridge of my glasses so that they fit my face better, not once, but several times until they felt right. Plus they sprayed and wiped the lenses and treated my glasses with care, all of this free of charge. I was very appreciative, and I was told to come back anytime. read more

First off, this location moved to Needham St last year (300 Needham St) but the phone is still the same. The new location is larger, has loads of parking, and the staff is still great! They are sooooooo patient while I try on 5+ pairs of glasses, asking "what about these?" with each one. I would like to express my deep gratitude to this Pearle Vision store for the service I got today on 10/8/15. I brought my glasses which have one of frame's temple (arm) broken. A man employee asked me right away: 'How can I help you?'. I showed the glasses and asked whether he can repair them. He said that he needs to see what they have to solve the problem and went to their repairing room. I was waiting for him for about 15 minutes. After that he appeared and gave me the glasses with a new temple instead of broken. I asked him how much I have to pay and he replied: 'Nothing'. Was able to get a coveted Saturday appointment same day because of a cancellation. The optometrist explained everything to me in common sense language. They had numerous pairs of glasses suitable for my small face, in most other establishments I am relegated to children's frames. They assist you in selecting glasses if you wish help or will leave you alone if you just want to look around on your own. Rosie was very helpful and even helped with the final selection from the 5 I had chosen. All designer frames no children's frames in the group. Service and attitude all top notch. Great experience overall. Eye exam with the doctor was thorough and not rushed. The staff helped me find just the right frames without making me feel rushed at all; I tried on lots and lots of frames and never felt like I was taking too much of their time. I used this same Pearle Vision years ago and had the same positive experience. I highly recommend this place for glasses. Other perks: location is easy to find and there is a large parking lot, large selection of frames and late hours some days of the week. I went in for an eye exam of which Pearle Vision refused to work with me on my health care's coverage, making me pay with cash or check, refusing any other form of payment. After the exam I was bullied into their current promotions without having any tact when it came to handling how much this whole experience would cost for someone not making a whole lot of money. I basically got treated by everyone working there like a child and on top of it, they bad mouthed every other vision care center saying that they were elite when it came to eye care. I walked out of there never wanting to deal with another Pearle Vision again....not to mention I found the SAME glasses for half the price at Sears and with the best customer service I could have asked for. read more

Avoid like the plague -- terribly rude people with no sense of customer service AT ALL. Including the manager Danielle who of all people should know better. Total attitude problem. When I tried to nicely remind her that I'm the customer who called to get information BEFORE even coming into the store in order to decide if I'm going to give them my business, instead of empathizing and doing a reset she proceeded to lay into me and tell me how I'm doing everything wrong. Do you want to know what I did wrong? I called and asked a simple question about insurance coverage / discounts. Do you want to know what the manager thinks I did wrong? She yelled at me for only mentioning my insurance company and not the fact that their benefit provider under the hood is a different company. I'm sorry, but she's supposed to be the expert in the optometry business, not me; so, I think the proper thing would have been for her to just ask for more information if she knew that such a distinction existed. (I did not know.) Sure, things are probably stressful at the end of the year when everyone is trying to claim their benefits before they expire, but that's NO EXCUSE for how I was treated and spoken to. By the way, Danielle at this location claims that since they're an independently owned franchise they get to pick and choose which insurance programs they participate in as opposed to abiding by what their corporate headquarters has decided. While I don't yet know if they're really allowed to do this, I certainly hope not -- as I find it to be deceitful and confusing. If my insurance company has a deal with a brand name I want to be able to go to the location nearest to me and expect them to participate. If not, it isn't a real deal. I really hope the owner of this franchise location sees this review and is able to successfully retrain Danielle in how to speak to a potential customer. Because her actions have consequences on the well being of your business -- this Yelp review being one of them, and permanently alienating my (and my family and friends') business being another. read more

I bought some nice black framed glasses here a few years back. With my Harvard Pilgrim discount, it was a great deal. But this entry isn't about that..It's about how Rosie at Pearle Vision helped me today. I did something dumb earlier in the week - I knocked my glasses off my bed by accident and ended up stepping them, bending the frames/arms out of place. I could still put them on and they were functional, but they would keep falling off my face if I looked down. Fast forward to today. I came in, mentioned my issue to Rosie, and she fixed them on the spot, free of charge. Really grateful for her help. It made my day! read more
