My husband and I pay for full coverage for an annual eye exam, lenses, and frames. Yet we were handed a bill for over $300 when we left. First, the office requires you to do an eye test that is not covered by insurance at all. They literally pressure you to do it regardless of if you need it or not. $40/person, so for both of us that was $80. After the exam, we went to discuss glasses. Francine asked us which type of anti-glare we'd like on the glass: blue light blocking or not. The two are the same price, $85. We were never offered the option to NOT get anti-glare and therefore stay within the bounds of our coverage, so for both of us that was an extra $170. The remaining balance were co-pays, which were fine. But this office took advantage of our lack of expertise in this field to nickel and dime us for an extra $250 that we really did not need to pay, but weren't given a choice. Patient beware. Giving one extra star because Dr. Kolnik really does have excellent bedside manner.

Online is where I told him I wanted to purchase them. So he said he wouldn't give me an eye exam. Because of "certain things consumers don't know" and "attorney" and grumble grumble. That was that, and he tore up the sheet that he been writing my information down on. So I left. It was an oddly unceremonious end to the exam before I could actually even make it into the old-timey-looking back exam room. Dr. Leavitt didn't seem to mind losing my low-margin business, and I was quite happy to get out of there and not have to follow through with what most certainly would have been an interesting eye exam. The guy is clearly marching to the beat of his own dusty drum, and the place seems weirdly outdated for modern life and invites equal parts bemusement and discomfort. And this is coming from someone who grew up in a backwater rural area full of these kinds of places. We started out with my daughter's prescription and the frames we already have . They had our insurance information (VSP signature) All we needed was basic lenses for her school -1.00 polycarbonates R &L , nothing fancy put into new frames we just bought abroad. The optometrist wrote a whole bunch of things on his pad which amounted to a over 500$ - and it would take 14+ days at least because it's VSP . Now mind you this is not my first time getting glasses and we always bought frames had exam and had our glasses made for under 100-200$ with our insurance. This time we did not even need frames or exam !! I asked about what savings are there with VSP and he answered that it's like a coupon , they give discounts for add ons But the price of over 500$ without frames or exam for basic lenses for simple myopia sounded ludicrous. Description as follows Frame - Patient Frame Lens R/L- Any Single Vision (Lab Choice) - 80$ each Crizal ROCK with UV (AR Coating D) 205$ Custom Measurements & Edge SV 60$ Grooved 50$ SV scratch & warranty service 33$ And I was told this is the basic stuff , first off Crizal Rock is not basic and with my insurance should have been about 50$ if covered at all The coating is already scratch resistant so $33 was just double charge for same thing on top of 200$ they should not have offered to begin with Now I needed to have 4 more frames done so that would be 2400$ And mind you This was the basic stuff according to them . There was nothing cheaper I called VSP and realize that this EYESPOT are scamming by price gouging and adding totally uncalled for and unnecessary add ons . VSP savings on one prescription ended up being too small and out of pocket cost was close to 300$ for just one simple pair of glasses -1.00 both eyes ! I was outraged I called morning of next day , I said I want to cancel order ASAP , The secretary said that they needed to speak with their optometrist and they will call back They didn't , 2 hours later I called again asking for refund and my frames back , again I was told the same BS to which I replied I will come in person , only then did a manager magically appeared and told the secretary to tell me that it's too late to cancel as they charged the VSP ! I called VSP they said they received nothing and they called the store just to be told it's the store policy that they do not cancel orders even ones placed less than 20 hours prior I made a formal complaint with VSP that I want to go elsewhere and to put stop payment on the claim , which they agreed to Later In the store the manager gave us hassle that they won't refund the FSA for the remaining sum, to which we said we already called FSA to put a stop payment on this "purchase" They refunded FSA only at that point And they had trouble finding the frames we left with them just 20 hours prior, then another BS story about them getting charged by VSP if we are refunded . The person who fixed them warned me that the worst frames could possibly snap but he'd give it a try. You can tell they know their stuff too because he knew exactly where I had purchased each frame. 10 minutes later he came back with all of my frames fixed. Gave me a new nice case, and sent me on my way with lollipops for my kids. No charge. Seriously good service. I will definitely go back there when its time for my next exam. And then, wait for it, she called me "honey" in a derogatory manner. Yes. It's 2026 and a female patient is being called honey by a woman who is clearly unhappy at her job. After under going six months of unsuccessful Prose treatment at USC Eye Institute, in Los Angeles, I was told by the optometrist Dr. Gloria Chiu that "my eyes are always changing" and that "Prose was not meant for me". In being the advocate for myself, I was persistent in obtaining a second opinion on the Prose at Boston Sight. I was treated by Dr. Alan Kwok, the best doctor there on both visits, 7/30/18 and 5/6/19. This doctor has given me my eyes back and brought light back into my life. He is truly amazing! With these Prose, I am now able to return back to work and do the things I used to enjoy. The staff at Boston Sight is a group of compassionate and caring people that understands and treats patients with ultimate respect. This place is full of light and miracles! Lets just start with attempting to get a live person when you call. You may or may not get a phone call back. Very frustrating. Ophthalmologists and vision techs are wonderful and detailed oriented. I fully trust them. They have great interpersonal skills and treat their patients nicely. Problem is outside of their department. When it comes time to pay, a less than professional guy will come in and talk to you-Parnell. If your insurance provider is not set up and approved by their staff prior to your visit, they will not be active participants to help you secure payment. Fight will be all yours. BFS will no longer care as long as they get their pay from you at that time!! If you call them, it usually takes 2-3 days to receive a phone call back. Can be frustrating especially when concerns fall on dead ears. If there is a problem with your lens ( device) and needs intervention, they have a process where by you can send the lens to them. Since my lens was very irritating to my eye, I sent my lens in for treatment and repair. My lens was not returned in 2 weeks. After calling, Sabrina in this department told me it was delivered and had was signed for not by a name but by a person who used three initials as identification. Lens are not send via mail with insurance from BFS. Sabrina's answer was not very reassuring to me at all and all she essentially repeatedly said was lens was delivered. I had to tell her she was not very helpful with that answer as clearly it was not delivered to me or to my building staffed with 24 hour concierge service who would have signed for the device. She then said she would inquire about delivery and would call me back next day at 1pm. Didn't happen. Wasn't surprised. That is in a nut shell the lack of support Boston Foundation for Sight has for their patients in a nutshell. The organization does offer services for the financially less fortunate with steep discounts to free devices. I thankfully do not need this services but an aware of the good this organization affords. If you are a paying customer. Different ballgame!
