I actually live in Boston and take the T, so normally I would not go out to Lexington to get glasses. But I am so glad I did! I went to Eyelook because I saw they had a brand of frames I love called Face à Face. (They're French!) When I came in the store, I could see they had lots of really nice brands in addition to Face à Face. Everyone was really friendly. At first I thought I'd find a bunch of frames I liked, then ask someone which looked best. There were a lot that I liked. When Matt asked if he could help me, I ended up just asking him to find the frames he thought would look best on me. He nailed it on the first try! I love the frames he found . He was very knowledgeable and professional, as well as fun. It is obvious that he and everyone else there takes pride in their work. He even used this very cool machine to take a 180 degree picture of my eye area to make sure everything was placed right, plus he double checked to make sure the new prescription I had was right, because it was a big change from my previous one. While I've lived in town for years, I had never walked into my local high end eyeglass store. Trying to support local businesses even more during Covid, so went to them to repair a pair of old Tom Ford sunglasses that had a nose pad that fell off. Three things I learned from my visit: 1) the store is very well merchandised with interesting brands and designs that are hard to find elsewhere. Chanel, Cartier, sure...but so much more interesting than that. The store window had always focused on brands I had heard of- but so much more cooler stuff inside. 2) the person who was helping me was very kind and did a great job. I took them to another place to have new prescription lenses put in and they broke the frames and made no effort to fix them. Took them back to EyeLook and they fixed them right up, no charge. A few weeks later, I was in an accident and the frames got badly bent. Took them to EyeLook and they fixed them up in ten minutes, no charge. Paul and Nora are the most professional glasses experts I have ever met, and they are kind. Eye Look Optical has a great selection of eyeglasses. Those designers's frames may not be so cheap but they have great style!! I went their to make an adjustment of my favorite Theo eyeglasses, which I bought from other store long time ago. I'd visited multiple shops to get the adjustment but they couldn't help me (according to them, Theo's frames are too difficult to adjust). At Eye Look Optical, I got a great service! The adjustment and nose pad replacement were done in 10 min. He is so skilled that the adjustment was just perfect. I was so happy and told them to charge me a fee, but they never agreed. I can not say enough good things about this store! Yes...they have an incredible selection of frames.... but it's the service and kindness they give that makes this place very special. Last year I needed to buy a pair of glasses very quickly due to a medical emergency. I was stressed and unsure of what to get. Not only was I treated with patience and kindness, they made sure to expedite having the glasses made understanding my situation. They took their time to make sure I had a perfect fit and assured me the door was always open if I ever needed an adjustment. After spending weeks in a hospital the glasses did start to feel loose. Not only did they adjust my glasses, they looked at my husband and insisted he needed an adjustment as well (not caring the frames weren't theirs). A couple of months later one of my lenses got a bad scratch (out of nowhere).No questions asked, they replaced the lens at no charge. The icing on the cake came this week. I destroyed my beautiful glasses (to what I believe was beyond repair). After shedding a few tears my husband brought me back to Eye Look to see if I could buy an identical frame. The lovely young lady looked at my frame and said, "I believe we can repair these." Not only did they repair them....they had them ready the next day, looking brand new, in a lovely new case with cleaner and a cloth. When my husband tried to pay they refused. Back then, it was called "Eye Look Optical". It was there for years. Paul Dimos was the original owner. He sold the business and left. Then, he came back. Then, he sold the Winchester location and set up shop here, in Lexington. He rocks. I don't like being served by anyone else other than him. He knows his stuff. Expensive! Very expensive! But awesome! This is how you get glasses here: His wife sits you down and tells you SHE will choose your new frames. Trust me - you need to trust her. She will bring out dozens of different styles and try them on your face. You don't get to look in a mirror. After several rounds, it comes down to 2 or 3 frames. NOW you get to look in the mirror. Choose one. Or all three if you're rich. Go back in any time to have your frames adjusted because your 4 year old nephew kicked you in the face. However, after confirming my appointment the day before, the office called me not only the day of, but within 2 hours of my appointment time and cancelled my appointment saying the office was on holiday. I just returned from a store in which a German woman complimented my glasses--"must be German" she said. "Belgian" I replied--"Of course" she said, "certainly not American." I've been buying my glasses at Eye Look for fifteen years, but I get more compliments on these glasses, now three years old, than any I've ever had--it's been a steady increase, as the selection has expanded and become ever bolder and more sophisticated. (Ok, and the high end has gotten more expensive, too.) But the terrific options would be overwhelming--and you wouldn't see half of them--without expert help. In the course of 20 minuets, Nora quickly explores several approaches that fit your look and personality, and give you room to contemplate what works best for you. Can't wait for my next pair. Just as important is the quality of the lenses. I wear progressive lenses, which are extremely sensitive to the placement in front of your eyes. Paul's system for registering precisely where the lenses will be in the frame you've purchased has been flawless for me every time. When you put on the new pair, there's none of that queasy adjustment period--you just see better and more comfortably. I went to a glasses superstore and was surprised at how limited the selection was, there were a lot of glasses that were pretty much the same and everything looked pretty mediocre on me. So I went to Eye Look because of the Yelp reviews. I thought maybe a small store would be a good place to get personal advice. I walked in and immediately found myself in the hands of Jill. She asked me what styles I was looking for, and started pulling frames off the wall and studying how I looked in them, setting a few aside that she liked. During this stage, she would not even let me look in the mirror! She told me just trust her, and I did. Once she had about a dozen picked out, I sat down and looked at myself in the mirror with each pair. She talked to me about how the color and shapes worked with my face. They were unique, beautiful frames, and I started to feel almost like I was picking out jewelry--which in a way it is if you think about it, it's something you wear every day so it may as well flatter you. Eventually we winnowed down to three, it was so hard to decide, I almost bought two! But I finally settled on a beautiful pair. The selection is extensive, and they have a lot of interesting, funky, unusual frames, in every color and finish you can imagine, some of them were like sculpture or works of pop art. I was on vacation and staying in the Lexington area when one of the lenses on my Prada reading glasses popped out. Fortunately, I saw Eye Look Optical and walked in to see if they could help me. They were so friendly and welcoming. The woman who greeted me took my glasses and disappeared to the back room. Very shortly thereafter, a very nice gentleman walked out with my FIXED glasses. Then the woman (I didn't get her name!) asked if I had a hard case for them. I told her that I did not bring a hard case. I was trying to travel light and only brought the soft pouch. So she went to the back and presented me a slim hard case which fit my glasses perfectly. When I asked how much for the service, they said "no charge." I am so grateful for their immediate service and willingness to help me. If I lived in the area, I would be a customer for life. Plus they has such a cool and amazing collection of fun, artsy, funky glasses. Very "hip" - and for those of us who can't pull off the "funky" look - they have traditional normal eyewear too.
