The staff here went above and beyond to help me track down a discontinued pair of frames (I ordered the originals here six years ago). And they didn't even laugh at me when I ordered both new pairs in the exact same style. Great service, quality, prices, and inventory. What's not to like? read more

I'm a repeat client and he is always kind and has a great selection of glasses. He doesn't take insurance but the price is always right 2 for the price of one you can't beat that and you can use your flex spending. He can make your glasses there and they'll be ready in a couple of hours. If he doesn't have your lens he will order them and will be there in no time at all. I just bought my first pair of glasses with progressives, yes we will all get there some time in our lives lol. I'm now stylish af and can read fine print haha( see pic for my red pair) he will let you know what fits your face and what's best for your prescription. You must visit Michael it's a no brainer! I fairly recently visited Michael for the first time and I quickly discovered his integrity, patience, generosity and kindness. When I went back with what seemed like a problem with the main (graduated) pair it turned out that the prescription was a little off. He did not charge me for the new lens (based on a new prescription)! In passing I had mentioned that I realized I didn't really like the reading glasses after all, and he exchanged the frame, again without charge. He knows his business and values his customers, and I am now a loyal one. read more

I have used 241 Optical multiple times for progressive glasses, progressive sunglasses, and prescription readers. Excellent service and selection of frames. Reasonable prices. I have been going here for my glasses for several years.

Michael is very knowledgeable and helpful, and is good about giving you a good price. Both my wife and myself have gotten glasses from him over the years, and will come back again. read more

Put this contact in your phone right now. 2 for1 Optical is a wonderful resource for all your eyewear needs. Michael will help you make the right choice in frames, provide a quick turn around on the lenses, and fit them to you on the day of delivery so that you get all the benefit of your new selection. Lots of choices, great prices...but really, at the end of the day, you can find choices and inexpensive frames at lots of places. You cannot find informed and gracious service, good advice, and followup like this anywhere else in the area. I recommend 2 for 1 Optical with unreserved enthusiasm; they've been making my glasses for a decade read more

The service is outstanding, as is the value. For as long as they're open, I will get my glasses here and refer all of my friends to it. It's also a great value. read more

Great service from someone who has quickly saved me from having to drive without glasses twice. If you want frames that are subtle (not super bold) this could be exactly what you're looking for. Also impressed with an optometrist (Dr. Cope) at SEE, another small vision store which is only a block or two away from 241. read more

I am doing this review a year after buying my glasses here. Good customer attention and helpful in the selection of frames. Frames variety was good but nothing extraordinary. The quality of the lenses was very poor. Probably, this is why they can offer 2x1. I had to have the lenses made twice (the first time I could not use them apparently because they were not fit the prescription). The second time around were not perfect but I had already gone too many times to their shop and decided to cut my looses short. A year later, the lenses are ruined, totally scratched, impossible to use. This "extreme" scratching is the first time it happens to me. I use my glasses constantly; i.e., I do not take them out; therefore, there are few chances to damage the lens surface. People tells me that the lens were just plain cheap. I guess I got what I payed for. I should have followed EmilyD. review ;-) read more

Professional, decent selection, friendly, punctual. And two for the price on one. I bought a couple pairs of glasses here a while back ago and appreciate their professionalism. read more

Went into 241 on the recommendation of a friend of which I was initially pleased. Made my selections for their 2 for one deal . The deal wasnt as great though, $600 for progressive lenses. Got them back pretty quickly about 4-5 business days. Loved the shape and color. 6 months later the arm of the frame broke off when a toddler arm colided with them. Went in to see if there was any way to repair them and the owner gave me new frames for $80 . Low and behold 4 weeks later the hinge got hit again and the arm broke off once more. Knowing the real price of the frames and they're completly made of plastic guess I wasnt surprised. Went in and spoke with the owner(sister) again. She replaced them for free! I was amazed. She did the exchange quickly and with a chilly attitude giving the glass a cursory swipe and back into the case. I took them out saying they might need adjusting and she quickly said no they wouldn't. Here is the part even I find hard to believe. She must of been pretty resentful she had to replace the frame because what she buffed the lenses with must of been brillo ! There are circular scratches on the inside and outside of both lenses ruining them. I'm obsessive about keeping them clean and scratch free using only a leather shammy to clean them. Learning my lesson that polymer lenses scratch super easy .Not realizing what had happened till the next day was horrified to see the degree of scratching on both lenses. Guess she figured I'd come in to replace them? So confused and angry feeling there was no way she would admit doing it. My only recourse this review. UPDATE: 9/27/16 Yulia (owner) surprised me with a call having seen my review here. At first she was open and willing to do "ANYTHING" to resolve the situation. The conversation albeit uncomfortable I did managed to powered through her abject lament over her reputation. Asking her to please let me speak I expressed that I had no other choice than to believe she did it as the glasses were so scratched they were ruined. Why would I bring them in to be fixed if I couldnt see out of them! While she repeatedly reverted to her rant over her reputation I did manage to agree to come back in and see what we could do. The following day I went in . Not sure why Yulia asked me to come in because all she did was continue her lament over her "reputation". My reasoning should of been of great interest to her if she sincerely wanted any resolution. Her actions only confirmed my beliefs . Cheap glasses horrendous service . read more

241 Optical - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - Cambridge, Massachusetts

My past several experiences ordering glasses have been unpleasant, expensive, or some combination of the two. Luckily, I had an A-HA! moment and decided to try YELP to find a new business from which to purchase my glasses. Enter 241. I work in Harvard Square and the last pair of glasses I purchased cost about $750. Granted, they were a very high-end brand name, but still, that's a lot o' cash. At 241, I purchased two pairs for $360, including paying extra for anti-glare and high index lenses. What a deal! When I walked in, I was greeted by an extremely pleasant person, who was helpful, but did not pressure me. I thought the selection of glasses was certainly adequate, and was able to find four pairs that I liked, which I narrowed down to two. I should note that my coworker came with me, and she, similarly impressed, also ordered two pairs of glasses. My glasses were ready two days later and they are beautiful. Note that most glasses at 241 are ready within hours, but they did not have my lenses in stock at the time (I have a very strong prescription!). I couldn't be happier with this experience. Thanks 241 and thanks, Yelpers! read more

I've been coming to 241 for years now and they are just plain wonderful. Their selection is modest, but their glasses range from uber-hip modern style things to elegant, minimalist frames (my personal preference) and they're more than happy and able to help you select the right frames with gentle suggestions, rather than pushy salesmanship. I've always been happy with them, but a recent experience pushed them over into amazing territory. I got a pair of frames that seemed good in the store, but since I have to stick my face real close to the mirror when trying them on, it's difficult to see how they really look, so long story short, they were fine in the store, but once I got them home I really didn't like them (Life lesson: Shop for new glasses with your bestie, not your boyfriend). I had to return anyway to pick up my sunglasses, so I asked them about their return policy. Now, technically they don't *have* a return policy, because their glasses are all custom-made, etc etc, but they were SO nice about it. They did take them back and I picked out a new pair that are absolutely PERFECT for me. The sunglasses I got are great too, the tinting is perfect and having sunglasses for the first time ever has pretty much changed my life. In short, I 100% understand and agree with the fact that they're so highly rated on here. I recommend them to all my friends. read more

5 star customer service!! 5 star price!! As I walked I was promptly greeted by one of the store owners, Michael. Michael was very friendly, gave out some good suggestions and pointers. You'll find a no-pressure sales enivornment unlike going to car dealership. After you selected your frames, he'll begin to evaluate the measurements of your face, nose, etc as you sit down. A good thing to bring with you is prescription slip to get the best results for lenses. All the frames are made in Japan and the lenses mainly Japanese or German. Depending on what frames you get and the prescription strength, there's a chance that you might get it on the same day or a couple days later. Once you receive your glasses, Michael will do one more evaluation for the correct fit and make adjustments from there. The overall experience I received here was beyond my expectations. I would definitely recommend this place. Remember you get "Two" frames "For" the price of "One" hence the name 241 Optical. read more

I came to 241 Optical because I'd never had a "fancy" (aka expensive) pair of glasses before, and the reviews here were so glowing. Yulia was as great and intuitive as everyone says she is - she picked out frames that I would never have guessed would look good, but lo and behold, they did (and do)! The 2-for-1 deal worked as anticipated. I ended up paying around $300, I believe, for two pairs of glasses and anti-glare treatment ($60 a pair, I think). My glasses have held up great for 10 months now. I have no idea as to how much I "should" pay for this brand of glasses, but I had such a flawless experience from start to finish that I wanted to review 241 anyway, even with my limited knowledge. read more

The eyeglass frame selection - 5 stars As a lifelong Lenscrafters customer, stepping into 2-for-1 was like entering a brave new world. Who knew glasses could look this good?!?! The prices - 4 stars I like the two-for-one aspect of the deal. Of course, by the time you get duped (oops, I mean convinced) into getting the extra special non-glare lenses, you'll end up paying a little more than you wanted to have paid. But all in all, you're still getting a bargain to be able to create two different looks in your frames! The customer service - 3 stars The lady who helped me find my glasses wasn't exactly the "warm and friendly" type, and I can't tell whether she was particularly attentive given that I was the only customer in the store at the time. But she did her job, and I have two fabulous pairs of glasses to show for it! All in all, I recommend that you at least stop in here if you are looking for a new pair of specs! read more

A great little shop in Harvard Square that carries a decent (but not overwhelming) selection of nice frames. I went in on a Monday morning and had glasses picked out in about 10 minutes. They were ready the same day. As the name implies, you get two frames for the price of one. I stupidly assumed this meant two identical pairs. Nope! You can get two completely different frames as part of the deal. Michael, the gentleman who helped me out, was very personable and to the point. He also used some cool device to shape the temples that looked like a box filled with diamonds. I never thought anything would top my glasses buying experience at Eye Q Optical in the south end, which was wonderful, but 241 Optical edges them out. See your way there! read more

What a good experience! I am fussy when it comes to eyeglasses, and I have a hard time making up my mind. The owner here was extremely friendly, patient and helpful. Extremely low-pressure too - in fact he tried to talk me into a much less expensive pair of glasses than the ones I had initially wanted. Prices were very reasonable (I ended up paying about $350 for two exceptional pairs of glasses with anti-glare coating) The selection here is smaller than some places, and the brands are Japanese designers that I hadn't heard of - but the frames seem very solid and there are some really cool designs - it was very difficult to choose two because there were so many good ones. So - I'm a very happy customer, and I bet you will be too :) read more

I don't think it gets much better than this! I'm pretty blind, so regular lenses aren't an option for me, and 241 Optical did charge me a little extra for the strong prescription, but nothing near what I've paid in the past. They have a great selection of frames and service is top quality. As an aside, I wear contacts everyday, so my glasses don't get heavy wear. Because of this, I can't really speak to durability, but I've had no problems. Just remember to bring your prescription with you when you go. read more

I was always disappointed with the frames my optometrist carries and I was always overwhelmed by the price and gaudiness of some of the designer shops when looking for frames. I checked Yelp! to see if there were any other shops around the area I should check out and landed on 241. I was able to walk out of there with a pair of primary glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses at the end of the day, spend only around $300, and be very pleased for months to come. I do love the two for one deal, but I think what draws me to this place is that they have a very simple shop full of awesome frames. The frames are all stylish, but not too crazy to the point where you can't ever find a time and place to wear them. These are mostly everyday types of glasses of all shapes and sizes. Awesome place, excellent service...I will probably never get glasses anywhere else. read more

BEAUTIFUL glasses! I love my frames! High quality glasses - they came out perfect!!! Sooo affordable too. FAST - Delivery time frame exceeded expectations!! I have a very high prescription, but with the super high index, and the frame selected...my eyes looked amazing not like bottle caps at all! The owner was very flexible - because I couldn't decide on another pair (for free - you heard that right) she let my husband pick out a pair with his prescription. How cool is that? And my flexible account needed a particular format of a receipt, and she was very accommodating! By the way, read my review on SEE - I had a horror story and ended up going to 241 optical. The owner is AWESOME!!! And the quality of glasses are outstanding!!! All very fast, I order my glasses, and they were ready in two days..and fit me perfectly. I highly recommend this store!!! read more

Beautiful, well-crafted frames that are SO affordable. Seriously! It's about $300 for two pairs of gorgeous eyeglasses with anti-reflective coating. The owner is always highly professional and straightforward. Tonight when I was browsing, a woman walked in off the street to have her glasses adjusted, which the owner did quickly and without charge. Maybe this is standard practice, but I thought it was super classy. A+ read more

I had a wonderful experience at 241 - their frames are very stylish and you even get to pick out two, like it says on the tin. They were even ready the next day (I went in the evening or it might have been same day). I'd thought they said they would be ready at 2, but when I arrived I found they had said 6 (I was almost certainly the one who was wrong); but he (Michael?) said he would do them for 3:00, and called me 45 minutes later to say they were ready. Wow! Remember, though, THEY DON'T DO EYE EXAMS, you have to bring your prescription. I'd say it's worth the time to come here for your frames instead of getting them at your optometrist! I love my new glasses, they are high quality and feel great! read more

What an amazing find! The 2 for 1 deal is fantastic. I was able to find a lightweight glasses frame and a great pair of sunglasses, both with high index lenses, for a very reasonable price. Michael called on my behalf for my prescription and had the lenses to my glasses cut within the hour. I couldn't be happier and will definitely return the next time I need new glasses. read more

For those of you who are as blind as I am, this is an amazing find! I love having more than one pair of glasses to choose from, and you'll be able to expand your selection without depleting your wallet at 241. This is a small eyeglasses shop right in Harvard Square that's run by a Russian brother and sister, who are just wonderful. They are so kind, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Yulia is especially good at picking frames that will work well for your face. Though the frames aren't name brand, they're still of good quality, there's a really solid selection of plastic and metal frames, and the price is extremely reasonable...especially since you get 2-4-1, yes, two pairs of glasses for the price of one. And since the lenses are made in-house, you can usually pick up your glasses on the same day you ordered them. They also do tinted lenses for any of the frames, so you can also get prescription sunglasses. They also do the usual super-thin plastic for high prescriptions, and anti-glare coating. Do have your prescription from the optometrist when you go in. Great place to use your flex spending account. I highly, highly, highly recommend this place! read more

I have had many eyeglasses from many stores throughout the years but each time I get a pair of glasses from this store I am truly amazed by the superiority of their lenses!! I do not live in MA but have frequented this business on multiple occasions when visiting from MI to get glasses. I would highly recommend! Michael, the owner, will definitely take care of you and fit you with a fashionable, high quality pair of eyeglasses! read more

Very helpful as I don't like picking out glasses, and so I appreciated that they were very patient. I read all nice reviews and decided to give it a try. I needed special lens and they did it wonderfully. The owners were very honest and talented-- and humble, which is very rare in this area. (I mean many eye related shops in Cambridge) I'm a writer and need my eyeglasses while using my computer -- can't use contacts during the work. I love my new glasses. It helped me greatly to finish new chapters this summer. read more

Stumbled upon 241 on a trip to Cambridge / Boston earlier this past summer. I had been putting off getting new sunglasses and as we were passing the shop my girlfriend convinced me to stop in and check out the selection. The owner was helping some customers but immediately welcomed us in. They had a ton of options that didn't consist of the same old brands you find in every other shop. Michael was extremely helpful throughout the process and we ultimately ended up buying two pairs of sunglasses (one for me and one for my girlfriend). Highly recommend checking this place out of you're in the area! read more

One of the lenses in my RayBans cracked. Luckily, on a walk through Harvard sq this evening, I stumbled upon 241 optical. Within 20 minutes I had two new wonderful looking, premium quality lenses set in the frames. Great service and reasonably priced. And I couldn't stop checking out some of the frames. Very cool stuff. This place is well worth a visit! Just don't whistle inside... read more

I had a good experience here and they have a faster turnaround than anyone in Harvard square. But don't expect to get any insurance discount. They'll tell you that it's easy to get reimbursement but unlike all the others in Harvard square, won't do the paperwork for you. That's because they are not part of the IMED network like everyone else is. @241optical just tell people the truth so they can fairly compare prices with other stores. read more

Wonderful glasses, good prices, and absolutely exceptional service! I agree with the preveous reviewers that both Yulia and Michael are extremely friendly and professional, but what stood out most of all is their attempt to satisfy their customers above and beyond what is expected. The frames of my glasses broke, not just once, but twice -- and both times they replaced them free of charge. I was able to chose new frames and even received an updated set of lenses through which I can see even better! So in summary, I recommend them highly not only for the prices and types of glasses and lenses they carry but most strongly for their exceptional service. Thank you! read more

241 is the place to go for eyeglasses! Michael was very helpful and did not try to push any eyeglasses on me. The store has a nice selection of eyeglasses for a wide variety of prices. I also like how the lense options are simple and not overwhelming. I know that other stores probably offer a broader spectrum of lenses, but I prefer simple. The 241 deal is also great! I could not decide which eyeglasses to pick for my second pair, so Michael gave me a raincheck! Note that the place does not do eye exams. Great place and I would highly recommend it. read more

I came here to get some glasses last spring. The siblings were very pleasant to deal with, and all in all, I'd say this is a great place to get glasses if you have a fairly standard prescription. However, if you have an odd prescription, like me (super bad astigmatism/myopia), the game changes a little. If your prescription is really strong, they can't make them in-house. The Rx will have to be ordered and you'll have wait a few additional days, compared to other customers. Also, another drawback of having a strong prescription is that you don't qualify for that sweet two-for-one deal, which really bummed me out. I smell sight discrimination! How come I should be disqualified just because I have terrible eyes?! It's not my fault! I guess I understand, though. Strong prescriptions must take more work or something. The other annoying thing about having a -15 prescription is that many many frames are unsuitable for the lens thickness that I need. That stinks too, but that's certainly not 241's fault. Again, the only reason I give 241 3 stars instead of 5 is because I feel it's rather misleading to offer a 2-for-1 deal, and then renege if the customer's prescription is too difficult. read more
