But it quickly became clear that having great coverage doesn't mean much in a place that prefers to sell the Ferrari of eyewear. Now, to be fair -- the optometrist knows his craft. Truly professional, skilled, and thorough. But if you know the glasses game, you can spot a commission-based shop from a mile away. Here's where things went off track: a thousand dollars for a single pair of glasses after insurance. I really like it here. They are on top of things. The visits are quick and they are so accommodating. They have lots of styles to choose from and take a good list of insurances. There were two gentleman there which I forget the names he gave me his card which I miss placed but they were so knowledgeable and so cool. It gives that place the finishing touch. Wes at Eye Q in Cambridge helped repair my glasses today, though they were no longer under warranty. My husband and I are long-time customers, and I was so grateful as the glasses were tilted on my face and I couldn't see clearly. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DECEIVING. AVOID AT ALL COST. I had an appointment with the Dr. a few days ago. As I explained to the doctor during our appointment, this was my first time visiting an eye doctor. When I entered eye-q-optical, one of your employees gave me some forms to fill out, including the optomap retinal exam. I had come in to get a prescription for eye glasses. This being my first time, I assumed this was a routine form one signs when going to the doctor's office for the first time. Coming into the office, I had never even heard of an Optomap or a retinal scan. As I was leaving, I was charged $39 and couldn't understand why (apparently it was for the optomap add-on, which I had never verbally agreed to). Given that it was my first time, I think it only would've been fair for your employee to explain that this is something separate from the eye exam, and that while helpful, is not something that is required to get a glasses prescription. Instead, I was simply given a document to sign. At the best, this is lazy and at the worst, this feels deceitful. I emailed the practice several times and was promised a call back from the doctor, but almost a week later, I haven't heard from them. If this is your version of customer service, good luck competing with other providers. Next time, explain to your patients what the optomap is, before putting a document in front of their face for them to sign. read more

I was traveling in Boston when I lost a contact lens and realized to my horror that I didn't have a spare on hand. And having a lens "overnighted" from home would take at least a day. In the meantime, my husband and I and our hotel concierge called up every opthomologist in Boston and Cambridge to see if we could find a replacement to get me through the day. Claire Holmes at Eye Q Optical was the only one out of many who was willing and able to help. She had a lens on hand that was close, I tried it and it was perfect. Dr. Luria and the staff are quick, efficient, and nice. But I will say when I went to my appointment a week ago, (I'm fully vaccinated), I was so excited to have the appointment and to be doing "normal" things again, that I went to shake Dr. Luria's hand at the end. He looked at me with disgust, shook my hand, and then right there in front of me, squeezed from the big jug of sanitizer from the front desk a big squirt of sanitizer and cleaned himself and went back to his office. Now I'm not saying this is wrong, I've been super vigilant, especially with Covid, to be extra safe... but he might have made an effort to look less repulsed, and waited 5 seconds until he got back into the privacy of his office, to sanitize my "disgusting" germs off him. Just a little etiquette suggestion for the future. Otherwise everything was adequate. read more

Wow, what a great experience! Dr. Luria was very knowledgeable and helped me understand all the details of my prescription. He recommended some updated versions of the contacts I use and helped me figure out the right glasses for me. He was easy-going and obviously knows what he's doing. And his staff did a GREAT job after I finished helping me find a new pair of frames that worked for my style/budget/prescription needs. Every part of my experience was great. I was brought in exactly on time for my exam (I waited a bit because I was early), which was a strong start because I've often had to wait upwards of 30-40 minutes after my scheduled appointment. And it was on a Saturday! Dr. Luria was so helpful, explained everything that he was doing every step of the way. The overall exam experience was pleasant, and it was quick! As I was leaving I was asked if I wanted to browse frames, which I wasn't planning to at the moment. Instead of pushing me, the staff was very understanding, which was very refreshing. That said I did poke around a bit before my appointment, and they have a really unique selection of frames. Before I left I was provided with paper copies of an itemized receipt and my prescription, and I was emailed both as well before I left the shop. The entire staff was so helpful. read more

Up to spec technical equipment, a solution for my "gray area" astigmatism, and vinyl that plays in the front? The only competing optometrist I have been to is Modern Eye in Philly and turns out, they're buds! I got new frames that I think make me look sharp. I ordered my year supply of contacts and they helped me figure out how to save money and get a rebate. And! They helped walk me through the insurance benefits so I pay the least out of pocket. I also learned there are new screening machines (that were used) for observing your retinas and tear ducts and they take images to help better keep track of patients' records. I walked out of here with contacts that now give me 20/15 vision. I will continuously recommend this place to anyone in the future. I have VSP insurance, so, if you do too-- know you're covered at least for that! read more

Stunning lack of integrity and concern for their reputation and customers. Pick another place to buy your glasses. Ten months ago, I purchased very expensive glasses costing almost $1000 from Eye Q. The hinge fell apart with no abuse or stress. I have been wearing glasses for almost 60 years and know how to take care of them. When I returned to Eye Q, the salesman confirmed the purchase and immediately said the manufacturer has a 1-year warranty but won't cover this failure. He also confirmed that the store has a 1-year guarantee but said he would need to confer with the owner. The non-negotiable offer, presented as if he was doing me a favor, was to replace the frame at half cost. This store is primarily interested in their immediate profit. I strongly recommend you patronize another merchant who values their relationship with their customers. Update: Several hours after posting this review, I received an email from the owner offering to refund my payment from earlier today. He indicated there was a miscommunication with his salesman. read more

I bought some frames here about a year ago. At the time the woman who was working was a bit chilly but I loved the frames. I brought my girlfriend a couple weeks ago. She had just made an appointment with Eye Q to get her eye exam and wanted to try on frames. The store is quite small and there were a lot of people in there. My girlfriend and I had taken off our coats and set them on a chair. The woman was clearly annoyed with us for doing that even though my girlfriend was trying on $500-700 frames. Again we just let it go. The last straw was that my girlfriend went to eye appointment today which she had booked on line through their site. Apparently they don't keep track of their on line appointments and they didn't have her appointment noted in their paper appointment book. Not even an apology. Okay Eye Q, you have nice frames but there are many other stores in the Harvard Sq area that have nice frames AND decent customer service. You just lost not one, but two customers. Ooops, make that three. I had just told a friend about Eye Q and texted her not to bother. At $700. plus prescription per person, you do the math. read more

My experience at Eye Q was unpleasant and, frankly, creepy. I don't know what other reviewers are talking about when they say the customer service is good. It was, at best, awkward. I have student insurance and don't have vision coverage, but do have Eyemed. They couldn't seem to figure this out, and don't accept all types of Eyemed. My mistake. This is all fine, and perhaps my own fault for not checking my coverage more thoroughly, but what bothered me was how weird the Dr. and sales guy were about it. Honestly, they treated me like they'd caught me shoplifting or something. I offered to pay for the exam and deal with Eyemed myself, but they wouldn't do that. When I offered again to pay for the exam, after being strongly encouraged to look for glasses that I might want to buy, but the Dr. literally laughed at me and said "well yeah, you have to pay, but we don't know what's going on with the Eyemed thing". I was treated really badly WHILE being pressured to choose glasses AND offering to pay for the exam upfront. Frankly, by the end, I would have happily paid full price in cash to get out of there. Oh, and when I asked for a copy of my prescription I was again pressured to choose out glasses before he finally handed it over. I went in hoping for an exam and to finally get a new pair of glasses. I came out really unsettled and uncomfortable, without glasses, and with a prescription I had to ask for. I'm dreading the bill, but would frankly rather pay it and be done with this whole ugly experience than go through any more run-around and weirdness. I sincerely hope they don't contact me again. They used to be great. Well not exactly great, sort of okay-ish at best. I've worn glasses my entire life, since I was about 5, so I'm not an indecisive person who's frustrated over aging vision issues. I have a pretty good idea of what works on my face and what doesn't. I also have a VERY good idea of what I can afford, and due to my insanely strong prescription I have to often go for some of the lower end frames a store offers. This is much to the consternation of the sales staff but they used to work well with me and help meet that need. That said the last time I went in there (some time ago as I needed some cooling down time prior to writing this) was the straw for me. I'd broken a pair of frames I'd purchased from there maybe 5-6 months earlier and was hoping they'd have the same ones, I could pop in the lenses and save myself some heartbreakingly expensive moments with my wallet. Of course this wasn't the case, even had they had the same frames they flat refused to put my old lenses in saying they were, and I quote, "too worn" This after the one sales person in the store said, "too bad for you, but great for me and my commission" I bitch faced him and waited for the other woman working that day to finish with her customer. My commission wasn't much, but it certainly wouldn't be going to him after that. To digress a moment, those "worn" lenses? Courtesy of when I picked up the glasses, wore them for literally a week and the polarizing lense protection whatnot was shredded. I less than happily called them back about this and they blamed me. Fine, blame me, yes I did drunkenly clean my glasses poorly and then drag them up and down the counter for shits and giggles. I was persistent in pointing out this wasn't the case and all it got me was a couple of dollars off the contact lenses I was still waiting on. I then learned to live with the scuff. Onward. So given that they weren't able to help me with a straight swap I decided I'd suck it up and just purchase a cheap-o pair at lens crafters or whatever until I could afford an actually good pair of glasses. I told the girl who'd been helping me that day (maybe 10 minutes or so, not like I'd spent hours of her time) that I simply wanted a copy of my prescription and that I just couldn't afford it given their unwillingness to help me out. She hemmed and hawed and made many an excuse as to why I couldn't get the prescription, finally settling on "the doctor isn't in to sign off on it" Okay, then please have it mailed to me. I leave my address and am happy that in a week or so it will be mailed. Two weeks later I call saying I hadn't received it. Some one else says thats because they don't mail them and I'm out of luck, come on in and I can get them. I ask if the doctor will be there to sign off, surprise, no he's not. Thankfully I saved a trip. I then said that it was impossible for this to not be the case as I am legally due a copy of my own prescription. I get put on hold and in seconds the doctor (wait I thought he wasn't there?) is on the phone with me. All said about a month later I did finally get a copy of the prescription that they've so thoughtfully only given me a year on (eyeglass prescriptions in MA are good for 2 years, contacts only 1). I called to complain (again) and they sent out another with the same one year date on it. I was done and am done with them. They went down hill and fast and will no longer be my go to, I'll make the haul downtown to Warby Parker, save a ton of money and get better looking and better quality, or at least equal quality, frames. read more

For 4 years I hopped between optometrist, looking for the one who is a perfect fit (ha) for my windows to my soul. EyeQ got two visits out of me. I saw Dr. David Luria during both trips. Back in 2004 I was an contact-lens-only wearer. Things went well - appointment, exam, payment. If you wear contacts, you know that in order to purchase lenses with other vendors, you have to submit numbers like lens power, base curve, etc. As I paid, I noticed that the numbers were different on two separate documents they handed me - both written by Dr. Luria. I pointed this out, and one of them said: "Oh, don't worry about it -- here I'll just fix that," and randomly grabbed one form to change the numbers to match. To this day I don't know if he picked the right one. No one called for Dr. Luria; didn't seem like they cared, either. In 2007, I returned, after trying a couple of other doctors in the area and not feeling the right vibe. Despite the above, I remembered that the EyeQ guys were extremely nice, so I decided to give them another try. I had also finally decided to get a pair of glasses, and these folks were notorious for having interesting frames that didn't make you look like a Level 56 Nerd. So I walked in on the day of my appointment: Counter folks: ".... hug everyone!" Me: "Mm? You guys giving out free hugs?" Counter folk: "Um. SURE!" *HUGS* So by now I was thinking, aw, I'm home. I then said, "I'm looking for glasses that, how do I say this, uh, NOT make me look even more Asian." And they totally got it. So some pairs were tried and I found my glasses, which I like (don't love - but like enough to wear, which is quite an accomplishment) to this day. Going well so far! Next: appointment w/ Dr. Luria. He performed a few tests, and said he would like a follow-up test in a couple of weeks, that he was concerned about one of the test results. We scheduled that. Two weeks later, we did the test again. "Looks great! Results are much better. There is one more thing," and he went to put some eye drops in my eyes for reasons I can't recall. At which point he stopped short and said, looking a bit startled, "Oh. Did you have contact lenses in during that whole test?" (The test two weeks ago was sans lenses. I considered bringing this up, but decided he was going to be staring at my eyeballs all through that test, therefore would see them, and deduced he wanted them to stay in.) "Um, yes." "Oh. Well, we should have taken them out for the test." No mention of re-testing. I was given the eye drops, sent home. I never went back. So, here's an OPTOMETRIST who FAILED TO SEE THAT I'M WEARING CONTACT LENSES THROUGH AN EYE EXAM. I don't even have a good metaphor for this to try and be funny about it. (Mechanic not seeing the car cover? Designer wondering why clothing fits funny when the model is already dressed?) EyeQ, you're hip and cool, your glasses are stylish, but you know, stylish glasses do jack sh-t if your eye exams FAIL. For those of you who took the time to read this mess of a post, I recommend using these guys as a frames shop only, for the sake of your vision. 5 Stars for friendliness/great products, minus 3 for er.. failed optometricising. read more

Nuh-uh. The eye exam was fine, even pleasant. I was told my vision was okay, but that maybe I should consider reading glasses. Then the doc morphed into showroom salesman and brought out stacks of frames for me to try on, all costing something like $250. No, thanks. But he saw through my "I think I'll come back later with a friend" excuse and raised it with a "You don't need a friend's opinion. Can't you make your own decisions?" My first experience here wasn't that bad...they were helpful but still trying to close the sale asap. Initially I had a good experience here - the selection is great and the salespeople are very helpful (although also very high-pressure) - prices are extremely high though, and unlike most other eyewear stores they really don't stand behind their products (all house-brand) Today I went in with a two-year-old pair of their frames that had broken with only very light use. They would not repair them, they would not offer any sort of warrantee, all they would do is sell me a replacement pair for full price. I've worn glasses for about twenty years, and this was both the most expensive pair of glasses I've ever owned and also the only pair that ever broke (even though I babied this pair and not the others) - I told the Eye Q guys that if they won't stand behind their products I won't be shopping there again. I've been wearing glasses for about 20 years.. and contacts for about 10.. yet I NEVER remember to "back" things up. Always always have 2 pairs of glasses and always always have a box of contacts. Especially if you're a clutzy mcCluzterston like me and your contacts like to jump out of your eye. Like I've said before.. the 5 second rule doesn't apply when you drop your contact on the Boston city sidewalks. There's like.. colonial diseases on there. And you scare the hell out of your optometrist when you say shiz like that. Not like I've done that... Anyway one Saturday.. I woke up and realized I was on my very last pair of contacts.. that I'd been wearing for at least 2 weeks.. and I had broken my extra pair of glasses. Trish for the win! After calling several places in Cambridge and Somerville, Eye Q was the ONLY place that stated their prices up front (and without the large sighing over the phone.. seriously?). Everyone else kind of tip toed around giving me ridiculous ranges but never really coming out about how much just an eye exam and contact exam would cost. OR..the weekend people had NO idea what was happening. Really? There's no huge sign in the window stating your exam prices? Or one by the phone? Whatever. The person on the phone at Eye Q was friendly and upfront and the end. The optometrist, Dr. Dave, was awesome. He explained everything that was happening and why he was doing it. He also chatted with me about how it's not that bad that I wear my contacts for longer than 2 weeks because the new contact solutions are much better at cleaning contacts than the solutions of old (when the rule of 2 weeks per pair was initially set). And to top it off.. he gave me some awesome news.. my eyes have gotten better! WAHHOOOOOOO. I have the highest level of astigmatism in both eyes and can barely see without contacts/glasses.. but I guess since college I haven't been reading as much (lmao) and my eyes have de-stressed themselves or something.. and improved. NICE. So an eye glass exam + contact exam + contacts for a year (yeah year!).. were CHEAPER than Costco. Believe it or not. I didn't however get glasses because I think that's probably the more expensive part of the store.. but they had some really nice frames. Sad I used up my emergency fund for the exams/contacts.. so I might be back to try on some more frames when I have the money. Best part.. the contacts came in on a Wednesday/Thursday of that week. I must say that my experience here was disappointing--though the staff was generally friendly and sociable. I called around to a number of places to inquire about prices. services, etc. The person who answered the phone said that they would do a complimentary refraction (since I only wanted a new refraction and not a complete eye exam) if I bought frames. He then checked with someone else and revised the price--the refraction would be $50. I still scheduled an appointment. When I got there, I was told it would actually be $79--"we don't do a part of an exam." The exam itself was thorough, and the optometrist did an excellent job of explaining what he was doing. Quite a few times in fine stores, I've been tempted to buy items beyond my budget. I did not have that experience here. There honestly were not any frames that were quite what I was hoping to find. For the prices they charge, I would have expected a bit better. It also bothered me that frames are not marked with prices--the prices only appear on a teeny-tiny piece of paper in the back of certain shelves. Trying to figure out the actual price was not very easy as they talked about how they would "massage the price" to make it work. After my experience with the refraction pricing, I was not going to risk learning about changes after-the-fact. Since I needed glasses rather quickly, I almost bought a pair here--until the owner commented on the amount of competition in Harvard Square. A newcomer to town, I did not realize that there were so many choices. Once I learned that there were a variety of options, I (somewhat unhappily) paid my $79 for the refraction and left. I do agree with others that some services can be cool--the photo they take of your eye and the photos they give you of yourself in various frames. Those gimmicks are not enough to get me to come back when there are many stores with better selection, more stylish frames, and more reasonable prices... read more

They have such beautiful frames, great staff who leave you alone if you like, give you input if you like, and will take polaroids of you in the frames so you can take the pics home and think about/get input on the big decision. It's not always easy to find really awesome frames that you want sitting on your face full-time. But after finding my last two pairs of glasses there, you can bet Eye Q will be first on my list when the need arises again. read more

I wish every merchant... providing their respective product or service was half as good - the world would be a better place. I went to several optical dealers before stopping in Eye Q with my super stylish hipster chick friend. Our experiences up till then were less then inspiring. Steven was knowledgeable, stylish, friendly, funny, frank... and truly cared about finding the prefect frames for us. We left with 3-pares. I had so much fun here. First of all Paul is hilarious and it's true, he will bring pair after pair for you to try on, but actually I tired HIM out! I am the type who could try on clothes/glasses for hours on end. He was like "girl you don't even NEED my help, want a job here?" I think he is the founder, so he is very enthusiastic and really loves helping you get a good frame for your face. They do order nice ones too, the brands are not your typical ones. He was also playing a great Replacements record. There were a few other customers there ages ranging from 60s to 20s and we were all having a nice time chatting with one another and commenting on our try-ons. The doctor is nice too, he sent me home with pictures of the insides of my eyeballs which I thought was pretty cool. read more

Saw Dr. Luria at the Eye Q in Harvard Square and couldn't be happier with the results. Here's how it broke down: Exam - I have astigmatism, and consequently have been wearing the same type of toric contact lenses since I was about 13. They're annual wear so they're high maintence (clean and disinfect every night) and expensive. Additionally, I could only get 20/40 vision from them and they were becoming increasingly hard to find. My old eye doctor tried to fit me with disposables time and time again, but none of them fit well. I was convinced I was doomed to these annuals for the rest of my life or until I decided to have Lasik. Dr. Luria took one look at them and was aghast (they were old and so uncomfortable). He said they'd come a long way with toric disposables and he had ones for me to try. I was skeptical but willing. After doing a complete exam that was very thorough and unrushed, the first pair of disposables he put me in fit perfectly. Additionally, I now had 20/20 vision for the first time in I don't know how long - and they were so comfortable! It honestly it felt like a miracle. Next best thing to Lasik. I also got new glasses from them. They have the most unique selection of frames I've ever seen, and they guide you through what looks good. Not cheap, but totally worth it. These guys are my new eye care providers. Highly recommended! read more

A few things about me before I recite the love sonnet I have composed for Eye Q Optical in Harvard Square: I have been lurking on Yelp for ages. Evidently no food, no plumber, no bikini waxing experience was ever quite good (or bad) enough to make me break my silence, until now. I was ordered to stop wearing my contacts because my eyes were infected and demanded a break from having little plastic circles stuck to them 24/7. I needed a pair of glasses *pronto* because being half-blind and stepping on thumbtacks is not my idea of a good time. I am a girl with vision insurance, and I'm not afraid to use it. In fact, when I set out yesterday morning on my quest for glasses, there was absolutely no way I was going to do the "out-of-network provider" thing again, which has cost me, like, a bazillion dollars in the past, and with nothing out of the ordinary to show for it. Enough about me. Now, on to the part where Eye Q Optical is my new BFF. So I get the script for my glasses and am trudging through the snow in Harvard Square, when my gf says, "Oh, I got my glasses there several years ago. They're great." Oh why not, I think to myself. I have only been to, like, 70 stores looking for glasses. I have a little peanut head, and I am *so* over trying on Barbie glasses in the scant children's section of LensCrafters. But I'll try this one more place. So we walk in and immediately the selection of frames is palpably superior. Joe Fox, the man who is the brain child behind Eye Q Optical, was friendly and funny but totally not invading my personal space as many retail folk will do. He takes one look at my tired, diminutive face and starts bringing frames that are perfectly suited to me. Frames without a "Scooby Doo," logo on them, or frankly any logo at all, which I find most refreshing. What I also find refreshing is a shop that understands how to treat a potential customer, and how to close a deal without the hard sell. Joe was upfront with me that I would have to pay out-of-pocket and submit the receipt to my insurance myself, as he was considered out-of-network. I was on the fence about this, for obvious reasons, but ultimately decided it was worth the money. And yes, I will tell you why. He killed me with kindness and made my choice an easy one. He offered to cut a pair of temporary lenses into the frames I chose (did I mention they have a special - buy one, get one OR buy frames get lenses free???) right then and there. He promised my new lenses would be ready the very next day. AND he knocked $25 off the price if I paid cash. That's a small price to pay, as it were. This guy knows how to make repeat customers out of walk-ins. And I have a new home for eye care. I've been to Eye Q Optical for my eye exams for two years in a row now... and I honestly couldn't be happier with them. Dr. Luria is thorough, patient, and friendly - and best of all, he's a really good doctor. He has a perfectly reasonable, logical explanation for whatever ails you, and he does whatever he can to correct the problem. He also uses technology that - prior to visiting his office - I hadn't seen in other optometrists' offices, like the camera that takes a big, clear photo of the inside of your eye to check for any horrifying abnormailities and to compare the overall state of their health year after year. Fancy pants, that Dr. Luria. Both he and the rest of the staff are also really helpful when it's time to pick out frames. I wear both glasses and contacts at various times, and it's important to me that my frames are fashion-forward without making me look ridiculous. The frame selection they offer in this office is AMAZING - no need to weed through a million crappy, identical, so-called "designer" frames just to find one or two good options. Everything here is unique enough to get you noticed for the *right* reasons. Last night at my most recent visit, both Dr. Luria and Steven helped me narrow down my options, and I ended up picking out FABULOUS frames that I never, ever would have tried on by myself without their recommendation. Now I just can't wait until next Friday when I get to pick them up! Is this the cheapest place to get your glasses? Well, no. But these are a DAILY accessory for most people - and for most people who wear glasses, their frames define their faces as much as their noses do. I waltzed into Eye Q Optical this afternoon with the intention of ordering a set of frames to match my newly acquired perscription I'm an experienced eye glasses purchaser as I've worn glasses most of my life and I have to say that this was the most pleasant of my experiences choosing out frames. Granted I mostly shopped at Lens Crafters with my mother as a child. I was helped by a lovely lady, Rita. She was an enormous help in choosing just the right frame to go with my face. It was nice to have her there to ask if I looked good in this or that, or if I should choose another color or lens shape. She would pull many frames and try them all on me! At last I came upon the perfect pair. A simple black framed frame with the perfect shaped lenses. I was sold instantly! When it came time to pay, I chatted up some other friendly customers while she rang up my ever so cheap bill. The frames were designed personally by someone at Eye Q (It's their own line!) The frames were only $259 and after the non-glare finish and the prescription I only paid $329. Way cheaper than Lens Crafters even with the AAA discount! So I ordered contacts on-line from my usual supplier about 3 weeks ago, and still a no show. I go across the country tomorrow for a week and the last pair of contacts I have are already about 2 weeks old...and yes...these are 2 week contacts. I call around today to at least 10 places in the area and some further out (natick/framingham) to see if they carry my specific brand. Every place I called gave me some run around about how there was nothing they could do and blah blah blah. I call Eye Q, and within 5 minutes, the lady I spoke to - Tracy I believe (I'm horrible with names sometimes) told me to come in and that they would be able to help me out...and they did. She provided me with a spare pair of contacts to last me throughout the week, until I can figure something else out when I get back... I basically spent 2 hours calling around to every place I could find on google, until I hit Eye Q - and within 5 minutes she solved my problem. I went in the store, and the transaction, including our chatting, took all of 7-10 minutes. It is great to know that people in retail positions still feel human enough to treat others like human beings and not robots. It is even better to know that there are still retail folks out there who will extend themselves, and go beyond what they are required in order to help another person. Thank you Eye Q. This place is the real deal. Dave the opto was truly top shelf - I've been near blind for about 20 years and he's the best I've been to so far. The glasses selection was a bit more homogenous than I expected. I admittedly freak out a bit when choosing specs (oh, so this is how my face will love for the next 2+ years...) so having a more complete range would be better. read more

I went to the Boston Eye Q in the South End. I just moved to the neighborhood and was a bit hesitant about going there. It was a small store and I was not sure it would have a lot of choices plus I thought it might be expensive like many of the other stores in the area. I was instantly greeted by Richard who was so nice and personable that I felt like we had been friends in a previous life. It did not take me anytime to find the right frames. These frames fit my face perfectly and comfortably. I instantly fell in love with the color and look. Usually I shop around esp now that I am a grad student and have no money. I was having such a hard time finding the right glasses that I thought I would just replace the lens on my old frames. That was how frustrated I was at that point. When I walked into Eye Q, the whole experience was smooth. Richard even helped me with a price that fit my budget. I bought the eye glasses on the spot and have not regretted my purchase. Eye Q is a great place with people who care about their product and want the customers to be happy with the purchase. I had such a great time there that the next time I walked by the store and saw that Richard was working, I popped in for a small chat. That is how nice he is! read more

I can see? I can SEE! Yeah, I'm not blind, just a little nearsighted and I only really need glasses to drive at night, watch movies, tv, etc... In any case, I needed new glasses and when I dropped in well before I intended to buy anything, Paul found me a great pair of frames, didn't push me to buy them that day, took a picture of me with them on, gave me the picture and wrote down the model for when I decided to get them. Not pushy, just cool. So now I've been in for my eye exam and I'm getting my glasses and it's been a good experience all around thanks to the staff here. Highly recommended. read more

You may not buy glasses from these guys, but visit them before you buy somewhere else. I went to numerous other stores in the area and couldn't find people or frames that even came close. It was an easy decision to get my frames from them. Every employee I interacted with was generally awesome and the selection of frames is unparalleled. read more
