Total scam place, they don't even give you your prescription without having to ask for it as is REQUIRED to give you the choice of going elsewhere to buy glasses. Eye exam, frames, and lenses - difficulty seeing with the new Rx and lenses, so lenses were remeasured and remade. Still uncomfortable. The solution, pay for another eye exam. The same OD produced a new Rx and the new lenses were still unacceptable. Tried to cancel an order for replacement lenses in another frame, but even though it was within 24hr(not certain, might've been 48hr), the order was not canceled. Finally went to another optometrist and the Rx was different from the previous two. Had new lenses fitted - less expensive for the same manufacturer, and still have a pair with the lenses i can't use. Expensive, spent more than 2k for exams, frames, and lenses that i can't use. read more

I had a very disappointing unprofessional experience at this office and would not recommend it. First, my insurance covers one comprehensive eye exam per year. However, the office routinely uses a "fundus camera" and charges an additional $39, which is not typically covered by insurance. This was never communicated to me in advance. My initial appointment was scheduled for 9:00 AM, but I did not see Dr. Idrizovic until 10:20 AM. When I was finally brought back, the visit felt chaotic. The receptionist knocked on the exam room door multiple times because other patients were waiting to pick up contacts and were frustrated. During the appointment, I was told I had dry eyes, but the doctor said she did not have time to address it and asked me to reschedule. I left without an updated prescription and only a vague understanding that I "might" have dry eyes? At my follow-up appointment (scheduled for 1:00 PM), I was not seen until 1:45 PM. During that visit, I was again told I had dry eyes and was encouraged to purchase a LipiFlow treatment costing between $700-$1,500, which is not covered by insurance. When I checked out, I was charged $114 -- $75 for the follow-up and $39 for "Lipiscan" imaging. No imaging was performed that day. I was told they were charging to review images taken during my first appointment, which had not been clearly explained. I raised concerns about the lack of clarity and the way the appointments were handled. Later that day, Dr. Idrizovic called and agreed to reimburse the $114. However, during that call she told me it was my responsibility to ask the front desk for my prescription (which is why I didn't receive it initially) and commented that my insurance was "poor," comparing it to her own Harvard Medical School insurance with lower copays (she told me her copays were $20 which is significantly lower than mine which were $75 ). I found this extremely unprofessional. Although I was reimbursed the $114, the office still billed my insurance for the follow-up visit, during which no meaningful evaluation occurred beyond being told I had dry eyes and being encouraged to purchase an expensive treatment. Overall, the experience felt disorganized (I waited over 2 hours total over my 2 appointments), poorly communicated, and focused more on upselling than patient care. I would not return. read more

Sorry to say I felt ripped off in several ways. On the phone I was told with my insurance my out-of-pocket would be $50, When I arrived they charged $94 (before the exam, no less.) When I objected, they said they'd waive the $39 "fee" so I paid $55. The optometrist was very good but wrote me a prescription valid for one year (standard is two years.) Again I asked why and they said "Oh, we want you to come back in a year to make sure you don't have any problems." (Read: "come back for another overpriced exam.") I insisted they change it, which they did. When I asked for an estimate for my lenses, they quoted $995. Lenses only!! I got quotes from\ two other reputable opticians for $445 and $459. Go to Custon Eyes on 50 Prospect St., Cambridge. He's honorable and well-priced. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Service is extremely rude and you pay a high price for a simple eye exam. Honestly, if I could give less than one star, I would. I am definitely not one to write low rating reviews, but this one is a warning to anyone who is deciding whether or not to go here. I had been needing to get my eyes checked as my rx had expired and also to get my glasses updated with the new prescription. I made an appointment online and came at my allotted time. The front desk attendant had the worst interrogative and condescending attitude I have ever experienced and the process of getting my eyes checked was definitely weird. They asked for my current prescription ahead of examining my eyes - which shouldn't matter. Makes me think that they didn't do a thorough job of checking my eyes since my prescription didn't change. They also had me throw away my current contacts to check my vision even though they could still be used. Normally you are provided with a case and saline, but the attendant gave me attitude and had me throw them away. I had looked at the reviews online and had seen some more positive reviews on google in the recent months thinking that perhaps service had changed from the negative reviews I had seen. I assure you, it has not. Part of me wonders if they have planted reviews to get their ratings up. read more

Would avoid--I called and visited this office to inquire about a frame adjustment, and was rebuffed in an impressive number of ways. First, I was told over the phone that it required a waiver, then that it would have to be sent away to be fixed--before it was even seen. Then, when I arrived they told me that it would cost $25-50, for what many eyeglasses stores will do for free. Finally, upon inspection I was told they were "not comfortable" making the repair, with no justification. Maybe they were just mad I didn't buy $500 frames? read more

I will never go back! In my experience, Dr. I and other doctors at ALL EYE CARE have been double/triple booking apts. The last few years, every single time I got the wait time was regularly 60-90 minutes to be seen. They check you in, tell you to look at glasses, you wait for about 15 minutes, someone comes to do the brief eye pictures/eye puff thing. Then tells you to go back and wait, look at glasses. They know the doctor is "running behind" After years of this happening, a couple weeks ago I had a 9:30am apt and there is no way the doctor ran behind. Once again, multiple clients were waiting and always only one doctor was scheduled. And historically they try to sell you glasses like you are at a car dealership, lots of pressure. After 90 minutes, I asked how much longer, they said "five minutes" Ten minutes later, I insisted my copayment was returned and walked out. Some of the employees working this day actually agreed with me, I ended up going to WARBY PARKER and had a 5:20 apt, was done by 5:42 with a prescription for glasses and contacts! And no-one made me feel like they were trying to sell me a car. And the contacts are cheaper than I ever paid at ALL EYE CARE. read more

This is the single worst medical service I have ever received. I have been wearing contact lenses and/or glasses for nearly 50 years. I wanted to get a new contact lens prescription. The doctor, Connie Ngyuen, simply could not get the prescription right. I was required to come back several times. Ultimately, I was shuffled off to another more experienced doctor. He gave me several new contacts to try . When I called back to say which was better and to finalize my prescription I couldn't even get someone on the phone to give me the contact prescription. They did however take my money and report to my insurance company that they provided me with a prescription. read more

I'm sure they have good intentions but I have always had problems with their prescriptions not working for my eyes. They also make it difficult to actually get the prescription as I always have to ask for it and like others have said they try to sell you glasses before they give you the prescription. This is actually a violation of Federal Law called the eyeglass rule. Eye doctors are required to give the prescription automatically after the exam whether the patient asked for it or not. They can't offer to sell you glasses before they give you the prescription. read more

I needed to do the OrthoK fitting process and found Dr. Idrizovic, who is an expert in this. (It was hard to find a doctor in the area who is trained in OrthoK.) Dr. I and Rachel have taken great care of me throughout this process -- including fitting me with soft contact lenses (so that I don't have to wear glasses in the interim), helping me fit a pair of glasses for backup use, and trying out multiple OrthoK lenses until we found the right ones. I've had a lot of questions, and Dr. I has always patiently explained things to me in technical terms and in intuitive terms. Rachel at the front desk has helped me find convenient times for all my fitting appointments and answered my questions related to insurance, receipts and more. Had a routine eye exam a few months ago for a new rx because my other rx expired. Went here because of the high ratings on google but was very disappointed. The optometrist tried to help me find contacts that wouldn't irritate my eczema. He gave me a few to try at home but many of them unfortunately didn't fit/stay in my eyes. Only one brand which is an old brand I used to use worked. Every time I tried the contacts was during the day. Also the optometrist called me 7x at work in a row and wouldn't leave a voicemail telling me that he would leave these contacts for me at the front desk which was frustrating because it wasn't urgent. It was disruptive and a voicemail could've easily been left. Fast forward to when I get my script and contacts ordered. I rarely use my contacts except maybe 2x/week during the day. I recently used the new script to purchase glasses at warby parker and got the glasses last week to find out driving home at night that the optometrist did not put my astigmatism on the script. So now I'm stuck with $150 (after insurance) worth of contacts with the wrong script and a $300 pair of glasses with the wrong script that I can't return. I called the office last weds to get a somewhat rude front desk person who was trying to make excuses and avoid taking any responsibility for the issue. Finally at the end of the 10 min or so back and forth he finally agreed to schedule me with the optometrist next week but would call me back. I never got a call back. I would avoid coming here. If my prior rx accounted for an astigmatism you shouldn't take that off a script. Its now challenging for me to drive at night and I run the risk of possibly crashing my car at night due to inadequate vision. I wish I still had my old glasses to use so I wouldn't be in this position. Now I have to go find a whole new optometrist and pay full price again for everything let alone take time off to make an eye appointment. read more

All Eye Care Doctors has a wide selection of eyewear and friendly staff. I had a unique incident where the frames I bought were hurting my nose. I subsequently (stupidly) broke the frames twice due to too much adjusting. The team was accommodating and allowed me to return the broken frames and get new ones for a fee. They also originally gave me a discount on the frames since I saw them for cheaper online. So their customer service is very good. That being said, there are some off things going on at this practice: - A licensed optician from back home told me that MA has a law that states that as long as an optometrist is on site, an optical shop is not required to employ an optician. I'm not sure if AECD has one on staff, but after some digging I later realized I was not fitted by a licensed optician. While the staff I interacted with are nice, sales/retail/business folks should NOT be fitting you for eyewear. - That same optician told me that the quality of their "high index" lenses was poor. After comparing my new true high index lenses with those from AECD, it's clear that their lenses are much thicker with unappealing concentric circles. These are not worth the money. Even with insurance covering a decent chunk of them, they're still VERY expensive for what you get. - The last time I got my eye exam there, the wait time was at least an hour and the doctor was rushed because of the delays. But the doctor himself was fine. - I agree with the previous poster that the patient's prescription should be printed and handed to them as they check out. Of course, you want the patient to choose eyeglasses at your shop, but I think printing their Rx would go a long way to show honesty and transparency. Adding to that, I think the optical dept could be clearer on pricing. For example, on the receipt, they should specifically spell out the full price of the frame and lenses and then show the deductions covered by insurance. I couldn't quite figure out where they got their numbers until a few months later when I checked my vision insurance claim. read more

My usual very cool eye glass place stopped taking my EyeMed insurance so I have been trying to find a new place for eyeglasses. So I saw this place and made an appointment. The eye doctor seemed to be great. The exam seemed more thorough than any others I have had recently. But as others have mentioned my prescription was written by hand on a post it and give to the sales people. That seemed odd...I've always gotten it printed out. when it came time to think about frames things turned not so great. I had this guy named Fati (or something like that) he was very "cool" almost cold in his demeanor and seemed very condescending. Almost like a 'we are too cool' type attitude, not personable at all. So I told him I need progressives, transitions and anti glare coating, that was it. But what really got me was the RIDICULOUSLY HIGH PRICE - for the lenses!! which he also wrote on a post it with NO info except the prices- so I am not exactly sure what any of it means: $367.50 $75. - $125 0 - $15 -$120 ________ $705 this is what he actually wrote YUP SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIVE DOLLARS for the lenses!! $199 for the frames. $904.00 total???!!! WHAT???? I said "I have never paid anything even near that price for glasses in my entire life. Can you please email me my prescription?" he said he would do that right then. and I left. I did not get my prescription emailed to me. I had to email them and ask for it again. I have been to two places since then..... one uses EyeMed and the price for lenses AND frame was $480.00 then I went to my old awesome place with lots of really cool frames Central Eye Care. Without even any EyeMed coverage the price came to $580 for frames and lenses. That's $324.00 LESS than WITH my coverage at All Eye Care!!! nope nope nope that is an insane rip off if I have ever heard of one. If my perscsription does work out (I'm leary based on other reviews here) I would go back for an eye exam but would get my prescription and go elseswhere for sure. I was hoping to come here because of the convenient location for me, but my routine eye exam here was subpar. They only offer "premium" contact lens evaluations, which typically has poor insurance coverage. Their frames start at $300 minimum, which is outrageous considering most frames all come from the same manufacturing sites and are priced according to brand (which if you're willing to pay steep markups for, great, but this place doesn't offer any alternatives on the cheaper end of the spectrum). They also pushed retinal imaging hard, even though dilation and fundoscopy is still the irreplaceable gold standard (and warranted if they find anything suspicious on imaging). They also check intraocular pressure using pressurized air (ouch) instead of tonometry (again, the gold standard, the next step if abnormal results are detected in the former test). Just seems like a less traditional and thorough exam compared to everywhere else I have tried, in the name of laziness or profitability. The worst part is that it would actually cost me less to get glasses and contacts at many other clinics WITHOUT insurance than it would be to do the same with my insurance here. This may be a sign that I just have crappy insurance, so beware if you have cheap/basic plans - treat them like discount clubs instead of insurance. The only positives were the ease of scheduling and attentiveness of the staff. read more

The lady at the front desk was very rude Janne. I brought my grandson in there for a regular eye exam on 5/9/2024. The lady said it was a 40 copay. I told her that he has Davis Vision and she starts to say, he has MGB and we are a specialist. i explained to her that its just an eye exam under Davis Vision its a 10 copay. her dumb self goes oh is the 40 + 10 for the copay and then goes " well I don;t know what to tell you" first off know you job you can not charge 2 copays, secondly learns some customer services... ask a higher up. " the patient is only here for an eye exam, should it only be the 10 copay with Davis Vision" Needless to say she was rude i voiced that she was rude and she is lucky i did not curse her out for not knowing how to deal with patients,. i've been in the medical field for 29 years and have never encountered someone that rude. All Eye Care Doctors are in my insurance network and close to me, so I decided to try them out. First, I was charged $39 for the copay which at the time I thought was odd because I don't remember it being so high when I read my insurance plan previously. It's also an odd number for a copay - why not $40? Really weird. But I paid anyways. The next day I looked at my insurance plan and for in-network providers, the copay should only be $10. No idea why they charged me $39. The optometrist was nice, no complaints about the exam. When I went to pick out my frames, the employee helping me said my insurance does not cover lenses at all, so those I would pay out of pocket completely. Their lenses start at about $200. And he said my insurance only covered about $100 (don't remember the exact number he specified) for frames, and the cheapest frames they sell there were $200-300. Again I thought this sounded very odd because from what I remember when I read my insurance plan lenses were completely covered and I had a higher allotment for frames. I also thought it was odd that their CHEAPEST frames were still extremely expensive. The other eyeglass stores I've been to have much, much cheaper frames. It seemed like they have only carry "designer" frames. Something wasn't feeling right so I decided to make an appointment for the following week to pick out frames so I could have some time to double check my insurance plan. Turns out yes, I was right - my insurance covers lenses completely and puts $125 towards frames. So I called to get my prescription & cancel my appointment, and just planned to go somewhere else. Then, a few days prior to my previously scheduled appointment (that I had already called and cancelled) I get a text confirming my appointment. So did the employee I spoke with on the phone not really cancel the appointment??? Not sure what happened there. I called once again to cancel. Never got anything from them afterwards so I assume it worked that time. Weird experience. EDIT: upon reading other's reviews I'm reminded that after booking my appointment online, they texted me to see if I could come in earlier. Annoying. I booked the appointment at the time I did for a reason. Also, the eye doctor pushed me to buy daily contacts like it seems like he did with others. I presume because they're more expensive. My experience matches other's experiences here - this office cares much more about making money than about patient care. read more

The staff and doctors here have helped me so much with improving my eye health with many eye wear options and contact lens options They had tons more brands than my old eye doctor had. And were helpful on working with me to prioritize my eye health ! Also note they have a more modern appointment setup. Their office is very brand new looking with new equipment and they email you to confirm your appointment . My hatred of opthalmologists began after seeing this eye doctor. Initially I disliked this doctor because I felt they were prioritizing profits over patient care. Now I have another reason to hate them. The advice they gave me made my condition significantly worse. When I met with doctors at this office they told me to start doing warm eye compresses and because of their advice I have been doing warm eye compresses daily for YEARS. At the time I didn't know I had ocular rosacea. I have also avoided other eye doctors because the doctors at this office sucked so much. If I had had a competent eye doctor who actually cared about my eye health more than they cared about selling me $200 eyeglasses and $600 contacts they may have actually identified my ocular rosacea and not advised me to use warm compresses. read more

I try to be pretty open minded but man this place is so strange. Dr. Chuang was great and I had a very thorough eye exam. Tiffany was also a lovely salesperson. After my call with them today, I would say my one problem is that there seems to be a lot of miscommunication between what they tell you and what your insurance actually covers. Especially considering I am in network. The math just doesn't add up. When you try to ask questions and elaborate on why their quotes don't match what insurance is telling me, the staff gets weirdly aggressive on the phone, insulting other companies and also just trying to up-charge you. EDIT: The staff was very apologetic about the misunderstanding in communication. Dr. I. was very gracious and actually able to explain my benefits and how it related to my cost breakdown. The exam was fast and simple and the Doctor I saw, Dr. Idrizovic, is clearly very experienced and knows what is going on. She was good about informing me of all of my choices without persuading me to pick something that didnt suit me. The staff here are so nice and efficient, and were more than willing to work with my needs as an out of work bartender during the COVID-19 shut down. They are offering a great deal for contacts+glasses with rebates at the moment. They set me up for a couple weeks worth of contacts to wear while I waited for my paycheck to come in to cover ones for myself. All around excellent place to go!!! First, read the MEDFORD location's Yelp reviews at 63 Station Landing -- they're more representative of my experience in Cambridge regarding a pushy, sales-driven doctor, and incompetent insurance billing by the doctor. So here's my advice, directly quoted from a review at the Medford location: "Do not go here. Do not go here. Do not go here. You've been warned three times." Here's a summary of my awful experience with this location: Utterly incompetent insurance claiming process. I had an appointment here, and then ordered both glasses and contacts. Dr. Idrizovic insisted that this was an AMAZING deal - I could get a $200 rebate from Acuvue if I ordered both glasses and contacts, so I did just that. As an in-network EyeMed provider, I also expected my insurance to be accurately charged - as ANYONE would expect for an in-network provider. However, I noticed my insurance was NOT billed for the frame in my glasses. All Eye Care INSISTED this wasn't allowed by my insurance. That just is NOT correct - my coverage includes a frame and contact allowance separately. Again on this issue, let me quote another Yelper who had the same problem with this location, because it describes my experience to a T: ""she told me I can't use frame insurance allowance if I am using contact lenses allowance!!!! Duh, frame and lens, do they sound the same to you? It's either frame and contacts, or frame and eyeglasses lens." I was being scammed out of a high-value insurance benefit! Long story short, Dr. I kept refusing to file the claim, until I had to get EyeMed involved to force her to do it. In the end, she claimed the frame benefit was "new to her." She's an eye doctor. The provisions of EyeMed should not be "new to her." In the end, she did file my claim and reimburse me (in part) - but it shouldn't have taken nearly as long as it did. This all took two+ months in total, which was insanely annoying, and could have been avoided if All Eye Care was simply honest and competent at the beginning and filed the claim - as they are required to. In all, I found Dr. I's many phone calls with me to be very rude and accusatory. At one point, she tried to say that I should pay HER back the $200 rebate I got from Acuvue - as if to punish ME for figuring out that she wasn't filing my insurance correctly?? She didn't - thankfully - follow through on this, but even the suggestion was unreasonable, and highly inappropriate. There were other small annoyances - like the $25 fee for some kind of retinal imaging in lieu of eye dilation. She also charged my medical insurance instead of EyeMed for the appointment, which was strange. Dr. Chuang was admittedly perfectly fine - she was actually nice, and was the only redeeming thing about this location. However, as I checked out, for some strange reason Dr. Idrizovic signed/issued my prescription that Dr. Chuang created, which I found odd. In short - horrible, horrible, horrible customer service, and prices/insurance billing/rebate-issuing tactics that make you feel scammed. Do not go here. Ever. read more

DO NOT go here for you prescription. They are more interested in selling contacts and eyewear than providing care, and they will make it difficult for you to get your prescription filled elsewhere. While the doctors are nice and knowledgeable, my most recent experience was terrible-- and confirmed some suspicions I had at my first visit there. Here is my evidence that the office will make your life difficult for you if you want to buy contacts elsewhere: 1) At both visits, I had to ask the staff to provide a copy of my prescriptions (contacts + glasses). They did eventually email me the prescriptions after being asked, but the staff seemed to think I was asking a weird question. 2) After my first visit, I ordered contacts via an online company. I had forgotten that I had an emailed copy, so I entered in my doctor's information. This order got rejected because the prescription 'was expired'. It wasn't. I found my copy of the prescription and uploaded it. The order went through. 3) After my most recent visit, I ordered via a different online company (ContactsDirect) that wanted both a copy of my prescription and the phone number of the doctors office. I put in both pieces of information. I got an email this morning from AllEyeCare informing me that my order was "currently pending but wanted to offer to you our pricing for contacts as our prices are competitive to online vendors!". The offer was only $5 cheaper, and required me remembering to fill out a rebate (I am bad at this kind of thing). I told them to confirm the order and let it go through-- I don't like filling out rebates. Instead, I got an email 10 minutes later from ContactsDirect informing me THAT MY ORDER WAS CANCELLED DUE TO AN "EXPIRED" PRESCRIPTION. I called ContactsDirect and they showed me how to reorder in such a way that they don't confirm again with AllEyeCare. In addition, I feel that this drive for sales impacted the way the optometrist provided vision recommendations. He really seemed to be pushing daily contacts (I have previously worn only biweeklys). He did not have much to say when I asked about pros/cons of various options, but had a preference for dailys. I feel for AllEyeCare-- competing with these national brands is tough. I would like to support a local business, and I may have been responsive to pleas for compassion. However, AllEyeCare: (1) I already paid you a pretty hefty fee for the contact lens visit; and (2) You didn't ask nicely, but were underhanded and made my life difficult. On top of this, the way you market your pricing assumes that all your customers are too busy/stupid/lazy to understand the the pricing isn't that different from online retailers. It grosses me out. This is the best spot for eye care, and I've been to lots of different places. Not only is the service fast (my appointments have always started right on time), but the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They help you pick out frames with a strong focus on what you're looking for (fit, comfort, look). I went a little crazy and purchased pricey glasses, only to realize that I overspent and needed the money back. Not a great reason to return glasses, but they listened to my situation, and helped me out as best as they could. I got some money back, and still ended up with a great pair of glasses that I love. Three years ago I visited this office for my first eye exam since childhood -- something I mentioned to them at the start of my visit. Given my unfamiliarity with everything, I didn't push back when Dr. I told me that I'd need three pairs of glasses. But my budget was incredibly tight at the time, and I didn't see how I could walk out of there with all three. She said I could wait on the reading glasses but that I really shouldn't be driving without glasses, and preferably not without a tinted version during sunny hours. Earlier in the visit I'd been told: "I'm sure you're thinking about going to Warby Parker, but unfortunately, they won't be able to make glasses like the ones you'll need." (Unfamiliar, I made a mental note to look up Warby Parker later.) Afraid that I'd be breaking the law to do any less, I agreed to buy the cheapest pair I could get ($200) that would correct my astigmatism and distance issues. When I told my boyfriend how surprising it was to need three pairs of glasses when I'd never noticed more than tired eyes after staring at a screen too long, he asked to see my prescription. What prescription? He told me that they were legally obliged to give me a copy of my prescription at the end of my visit. They had not done so. I called and requested a copy, which they emailed the next day. By this point I realized that online places could do a wide range of glasses and that my prescription was incredibly mild, so I decided to order reading glasses that way. Except ... my prescription indicated no need for magnification. When I went back to All Eye Care Doctors to pick up my glasses, I asked why I needed another pair for reading, and pointed to the prescription. The man helping me said that my records did indicate a need for magnification. He was new and he didn't know why it wasn't on the prescription I'd been sent in response to my request. He went back to talk to the doctor, and I heard her ask, "Is she going to order reading glasses?" He came out after a few minutes with my correct prescription printed out. Now I'd be able to order cheaper reading glasses and sunglasses online at some point. However. When I followed their instructions and began wearing the new glasses first thing the next morning, I found it difficult to focus on the world. I felt nausea, my eyes hurt, and then the headaches started. When I asked the office about this after one day, they assured me that it just took a couple of days to acclimate. After a couple of days, I called and they said it took several days. After several days, they said it could take a week or more. I gave up on their office at that point and found another optometrist. The new eye exam found no need for glasses unless I wished for clarity on "the most extreme detail." Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to use the glasses I'd purchased from All Eye Care Doctors because the prescription was wrong, perhaps explaining my weeks of headaches. One year later, I received an email from All Eye Care Doctors stating that they were reminding me of my appointment in two days, would appreciate two days' notice of cancellation, and would charge a nominal fee for less than 24 hours' notice of cancellation. Obviously, that was not an appointment I'd ever made. I notified them that I hadn't made the appointment and would like to be removed from their lists. Then I set up a filter for their messages. It's not a big deal to keep getting messages from them when they'll only go in my spam folder, but when another "we're reminding you of your appointment in two days" email arrived this year, what it actually reminded me of was that I'd never posted this review anywhere. I like the doctor and staff here very much, the location is great, and the office is clean. Unfortunately, the office is quite disorganized. It seems every time I make an appointment it gets entered into their system for the wrong time, requiring multiple phone calls to clarify. Wait times are pretty long as well, and appointments can be slow. It's a frustrating place to interact with. read more

STOP CALLING ME! I tried to make an appointment online and got multiple call backs saying that they "needed more information'" and "had more questions for me." Um... no you don't, and mind your business. If you needed more information, which you shouldn't for the simple act of booking an appointment, but to play along for a moment, you should have made the online form require the info you needed. If you can't handle online appointment submissions, then you don't get to claim you set up appointment online. Take the feature down if you can't handle it. I didn't make an online appointment submission because I wanted to talk on the phone. My sensitive medical information is none of your business until you actually service me. You should also already have the information since I'm a (now) former customer. It also didn't speed you up AT ALL the last time I was there, so don't feed me that BS. Don't hold appointments hostage requesting information you have no right to until you actually agree to see me. You also harassed me with calls AFTER I said I didn't want to continue with your services since making an appointment is apparently already too challenging for you. You really bothered me on a Saturday morning for that? I never thought I'd have to block an optometrist office. Get a life and stop harassing your customers and holding appointments hostage for information you have no right to. read more

Nothing but positive things to say about this practice! The eye doctor was knowledgeable and gave me multiple pairs of trial contacts to help me determine the best fit for me, they fitted my glasses with new lenses in less than a business day, and the manager helped me work out a complicated billing issue. They're also easy to schedule (tons of open times) and have solid COVID safety protocols in place. read more

I tried to schedule online but then got a call that they needed to change it to three days later. Which wouldn't have bothered me except for what happened next - the bait and switch. I've had glasses since I was 12, and I've had a lot of eye exams. I've never had one take nearly two hours, and require two people. The second leg of the exam (where I actually got to see the doctor), consisted of a repeat of much of the first part, with high pressure sales tactics. And lots of "explaining" of things that I already knew (having had glasses since I was 12). I decided to hang in there, since they said they took my insurance. But that was the bait, and here's the switch - they only take it for the exam, but not the glasses. They "use a different lab, but still give you a discount," which means glasses that should be free/covered actually cost hundreds of dollars (but the discount!). That was if I took the low-end option they offered, the original sell was for $700 lenses, frame not included. My prescription is not complicated at all. When I decided I needed to have a think on this they got pretty surly, and made me wait around for a long time to get my prescription printed. They refused to measure my pupils for glasses. So, 2 hours later I have no glasses, a sort of prescription, and a very sore neck from sitting in their tiny exam rooms for far too long. Do not go here. read more

I wrote this sitting in the waiting room for an appointment that was supposed to be 30 minutes ago. This place is an absolute trainwreck. I don't know how they exist with this level of chaos. After scheduling an appointment online, I received a series of texts suggesting other appointments, to which I kept responding that I could not make and wanted to keep my original appointment. I found this unprofessional and odd. I had an OK experience with the doctor, but they immediately tried to push me into buying glasses there, which I had already selected online and was not interested in purchasing. Recently moved to Somerville area and went here for first time and would highly recommend this office. The front staff was friendly and the doctor was thorough and quick. Was switching to daily contacts so they gave me a few options to try to see what worked best. As I needed new contacts, they also offered to match pricing for anything I found online so that was very convenient. They also helped me through the rebate process. Will be going here for my annual checkup. read more

This was my first time getting a new prescription (contacts and glasses) in a few years, and the staff here was incredibly helpful. They gave me multiple types of contacts to try on (never was the case with the last eye doctor/facility I went to), which was great to try various products! TLDR: great experience, staff is super nice, Dr.Chuang is awesome, I totally recommend . So I have really bad anxiety about going to the doctors and it had been about 10 years since my last eye checkup. I was having symptoms and couldn't ignore them so I used ZocDoc and chose the earliest appointment/doctor hoping it would be a good experience. And I'm so so happy I did! Dr.Chuang is sweet, thorough in explaining everything, answered all my questions. Just generally all around lovely to chat with. I left feeling relieved about my eye health and happy knowing that if I need to I have a doctor I would be happy to see again. I've seen some other reviews with different doctors so I want to mention she wasn't pushy at all about selling anything and was very genuine and thoughtful about her explanations/ recommendations for my symptoms. If you're like me and super skiddish about doctors this might help- What to expect: I went in for a general eye exam - you check in and wait a little (not long at all in my case) and then you'll do a few eye tests in a separate room with another staff member (she was super nice I hate that I can't remember her name), this involved a machine that blew a puff of air in each eye to test eye pressure ( I was horrible at sitting still the girl was so nice about it), focusing on an image/light, and since I didn't get my eyes dilated, a picture was taken instead which involved a bright flash of light but wasn't uncomfortable at all. Then you go back and wait a little longer (again, not long at all) and then Dr.Chuang came to get me and we did all the general eye tests in another room. Focusing on the letters and answering when things looked clear or blurry. Then she went over my eye pictures with me which was awesomely informative and answered all my questions. That was it! Totally painless wonderful experience. Staff was super nice. And I really recommend Dr.Chuang! Especially if you're anxious about seeing an eye doctor. Also I did have the same experience as others where I booked on ZocDoc and received a text about the appointment not being available. But honestly I thought it was super accommodating of them, they offered other appointment times and it's not an automated text it's an actual human which was nice. read more

I've been a patient at All Eye Care Doctors for the last 4 years. They are a professional team that are willing to work with their customers to get them the right solution. I see them for my contacts/glasses and have always walked away feeling that they gave me the best options available. They have a wide range of selection, at all levels of cost, and are always happy to talk other options. I even recently had them replace a pair of frames that were still under warranty (it was a smooth and timely process).
