I was really misled by all the very positive reviews of this optometrist. She is cheap. She may be minimally competent. But she did not assess my needs. She prescribed a very old lens that could not correct my astigmatism. She said that that was an acceptable cost of wearing contact lenses. She told me that toric lenses, that could correct my astigmatism, would be too expensive and would tear easily. She did not even mention rigid gas permeable lenses. This led to a prescription for a lens that was ill-suited to my needs. It didn't correct my vision very well. The technology is just much more advanced. I think she assumed that cost was my absolute, primary objective. While cost is something that is a consideration for me, I also want a lens that I can see with! And so, when I went to Korb & Associates, I felt that there were many more options explained, and much more thorough examination was performed. I cannot recommend this service. I really appreciate the existence of this place. As a student, the price is affordable, and doctor Wu is really nice. When I made the appointment, she cut to point what I need to bring, how much it's gonna be, how the service works. It's perfect. No bullshit, no payment plans, very easy to understand. She gives genuine advice to your eyes and tells you what type of contacts you need. Super helpful. The process is straightforward and effective. Definitely recommend! Dr. Wu may not be warm and fuzzy, but she is totally dedicated to eye health. During the pandemic, when she didn't have office hours, she gave me her time free of charge by phone. I had seen her at her storefront only once! A year earlier, when I called from an out-of-state optometrist's office, she took the time to find my prescription so I could order lenses and glasses through someone else. I did not even realize it was possible to have a negative optometry experience. They are typically so routine and matter-of-fact, however my experience with Dr. Wu was pretty terrible. Terrible enough for me to dust off my old Yelp account and write this review. Without going into extreme detail, I found Dr. Wu to be abrupt, condescending and almost confrontational when I asked specific questions (I've been wearing glasses and contacts for 30 years - and my Rx has largely remained unchanged). She did not have an Rx pad, rather a random, hand cut printout of a prescription template, which she proceeded to cross off the address of whatever location was printed originally and then scribbled my Rx on the piece of paper. Its completely illegible and I've basically resorted to guessing my Rx when ordering lenses and contacts. I was a little thrown off when I walked in and the office was the size of a van with no front desk or secretaries like the optometrist offices I'm used to. I only needed a contacts lens prescription and Dr. Wu was able to book me the same day. This was unexpectedly the best eye exam experience I've ever had. Dr. Wu is an older Asian lady whom one could describe as a little rough around the edges but a no BS type of person. She understands and speaks English perfectly fine, albeit with a slight accent. When she answers the phone, it can sound a little scary or rude, but that's just the way she talks on the phone and you'll see she is nice in person. If you're someone who can look past the superficial details, you'll see she has a lot of clinical experience under her belt and sincere passion backing her words of advice. I've been wearing contacts for a decade and learned so many new things from one appointment with her. This is my second visit here for a regular contact lens exam. Dr Usana Wu is very thorough, appointments are conveniently scheduled, and the pricing is honest. It's a small office right on Beacon street - there's a street lot right across so driving was convenient both visits. Why I keep coming back: 1. Thorough - the contact lens exam is extensive and she gives helpful advice on how to increase comfort while reading or working on the computer. I have dry eyes and she recommended a soft lens that improved my comfort. I also like that she explains things in detail as she is doing the exam. Found out my prescription was outdated and she fixed that. 2. Convenience - she books appointments on weekends or evenings which is great. My last appointment was at 8pm on a Monday though Saturday was also an option. I also went late on a Friday for an earlier appointment. Also, it's in Coolidge corner so plenty of parking and easy to get to. 3.Honest - this was the cheapest exam I could find in Brookline and it was not short - she took her time examining me and making sure I understand what I need. She doesn't sell lenses, so I am confident she recommends the right thing for me. read more

It is my first review in Yelp for being user of it near one year. But today I decide to writing something because Dr. Wu is really a wonderful optical doctor. The price is really reasonable, which is 109 dollars (2017) includes eye exam, instruction about how to wear contact eyeglasses and even a pair of trial contact eyeglasses. Also, the location of this small clinic is pretty convenient. Basically you can finish the exam in 1.5 hours after have lunch in the numerous restaurants nearby. Dr. Wu provide services even at 8pm. I would like to say contact eyeglasses is really a wonderful way to reduce uncomfortable of frame glasses. A big thank you for Dr. Wu. read more

I've recommended Dr. Usana Wu (the owner and primary eye doctor at this practice, aka www.ContactEyeCare.US) to all of my family and friends who need fitting for soft lenses or glasses. This review is seriously overdue! I was in a bad spot after a decade and a half of hard lens use, finding it harder and harder to tolerate wearing lenses over a work day. I met with Dr. Wu, who suggested trying soft lenses. I had heard this before, but eye doctors tend not to like switching patients over, because there's an adjustment curve. Dr. Wu went above and beyond to shepherd me through this process. Several highlights stand out: 1) Very knowledgeable and willing to teach. She is great about explaining just about anything I could think of (or not think of) about both eye health and contact lenses. Not often to learn from someone who has trained in 2+ continents! 2) Patient. She charged her very reasonable fee exactly ONE time, after which I returned more times than I could count for followup (3++), and each time (what with explanations and discussions) for several hours. She could also be very efficient when I had limited time. She offered me trials of several different brands and models of contact lenses, all at no additional charge. 3) Amazingly flexible. In fact, I had initially found this practice because as a clinical-year medical student, in the rare times I could get out of the hospital, my eye care options are pretty limited. As long as I called ahead, Dr. Wu made a point of staying quite late and/or having special weekend hours - not because of any financial incentive, as described above, but because she really cares! 4) Honest. In addition to above, when we finally found an acceptable set of lenses, she made a point of giving me the prescription so that I could comparison shop online. She explained that when she worked in chain-optometry shops that sold lenses in-store, she was always pressured by management to recommend lenses based on financial incentives. Thus, when she was able to start her own practice, she wanted to be sure she could truly focus on providing good patient care. read more

Dr. Wu is the best! I am so happy I came here. VERY reasonable price for great quality of services. Dr. Wu is attentive, well-informed and a truly honest professional. I have been wearing contact lenses for almost 10 years and went to the same place throughout. I was unhappy with my previous lenses and when Dr. Wu examined my eyes she explained why that might be. Later, when I was having trouble getting the prescription filled Dr. Wu promptly helped me resolve the situation. What I liked most is that Dr. Wu patiently explained eye care basics to me and also offered unbiased tips and explanations to help me make the most informed decision. Being honest to help others. Dr. Woo is cheap , not professional and racist. Terrible experience going to that witch just once a couple years ago and never again for the advertised contacts lenses exam. Dr. Woo demanded payment for doing nothing but using archaic equipment, giving a prescription I never used, is suspiciously incorrect based upon the optician, I paid for a second opinion to obtain a correct and different prescription and the practice doesn't take credit cards, seedy, a demeaning contact lenses lecture and shoving them in my eyes with no patience and rushing me out. Dr. Woo gave me just one pair of sample contact lenses for astigmatism from a closet in her bathroom. Obtaining an extra pair of samples is like extrapolating teeth. It's weird that Dr. Woo reached to confirm my appointment five minutes before but never followed up with me afterwards concerning my contact lenses. I had to follow up concerning my struggles placing the contact lenses on my own. As a result of my politeness, Dr. Woo became ruder and ruder until I was happy to to never hear from Dr. Woo.
