I showed him the glasses, he said "give me five minutes." I sat in their comfortable waiting area. Within a minute or so, he stood up and said "here you go" with a big smile on his face. Then, he cleaned the glasses and handed them back to me. I said "Wow, that was fast." Then he showed me his special technique, which he had learned during his career. Since I knew which frames I wanted, I ordered glasses online opting to pick them up in the Coolidge Corner store. The sales person was lovely until she heard online order and handed me the sealed box. When I asked to check if prescription was right or to have any adjustments to fit, she said they did not do that with online order. Mind you, I spent hundreds on these glasses and have bought glasses with LensCrafters before. I asked what if prescription is off, they said I could return them online. Only when I continued to ask about policy of not giving any service to online orders did another staff person say they could check. Terrible customer service. When people are trying to limit their time indoors, ordering online makes sense. Saved time for the staff too. So why not take care of the fitting process? I advise going to a shop that actual cares about building long-term customers. read more

I wish I could divide the stars between the first part of my purchase and the end... and it is the end that brought the scoring WAAAAAAYYYY DOWN. Bought my sunglasses from Robyn, who is really nice, chatty, helpful, etc. I was busy later in the day, so I picked them up a few days later. When I went to pick them up (either Tuesday 9th or Wednesday 10th), the "older woman" (yes, I said "older woman"..... one of those late 50's women who are pretending to be 20 yrs younger) came to the door and said, VERY RUDELY, that she couldn't let me in because she was by herself. Um, OK. So I stood outside while she let the UPS guy in, and she brought my sunglasses out, telling me if I needed adjustments, I would have to come back. Sure, I would love to walk another 30 mins each way to make your life easier, lady. Wore the sunglasses for 9 hours this past weekend while out-of-town, and cursed that bitch the whole time. They need adjusting so that they don't sit on my face in a way that looks like I slept on them and woke up looking like the freak of Brookline. I think I will go 2 minutes before closing for a fitting, hope that she is there, and tell her why I am keeping her late. To sum it up: Robyn was nice, but everything else sucked. i've been coming here for the past few years for my exam needs, but what spurred writing this review is the great experience i had this past week. I generally meet with Dr. B once a year to work out a new Rx, but this time I met with Dr. Straube (even though i scheduled the appointment with Dr. B--so i guess it was a little unprofessional of them to not notify me of the change). Anyway, its not that I've ever had an unpleasant experience with Dr. B, it's just that I don't exactly get the warm fuzzies from her--something about her general attitude and demeanor don't really rub me the right way all the time, but, again, i would never say that visits with her were unpleasant. Dr. Straube on the other hand is fantastic! She has the kind of attitude that you expect to get from a pediatrician. Very warm, kind, and most importantly patient. I didn't feel rushed looking through different Rxs (you know when they ask "what's better 1 or 2?"), and she really took her time making sure I was happy with the contacts I tried on in the end. And of course I love that they give you a free week of lenses to use so that you can be sure you're getting the right Rx/lense type. No complaints here! read more

I purchased a brand new pair of frames from MOSCOT in NYC and took them to the Brookline MA store on Beacon St on 8/14/2021. I choose new lenses and paid $788.99 I have not received the glasses as of 9/15/2021. I cannot get the date when they will be ready. All Kim can tell me is that they are working on them. I paid $290.00 for the frames for a total expense of $1,078.99 All I want is a check for the total expense of $1,078.99! I filled out an on line complaint form, but I need my MONEY BACK so I never go back to Lenscrafters again! They are part of a huge conglomerate under LUXOTICA I will continue to post as I get results! read more

I went there with my brother to pick up his pair of glasses on Saturday afternoon (April 23rd at around 2pm) and one of the Sales Associates named Shannon, refused to clean my brother's glasses when we requested that she did that, knowing from the day when we purchased the glasses that cleanings were free to LensCrafters customers for life. Shannon talked down on my brother, saying that there was fog on his glasses which made his glasses look dirty and that the glasses were always in the case and didn't need cleaning. She didn't acknowledge my presence once. She ignored anything that came out of my mouth. She only paid attention to my brother. My brother and I came into the store together; why didn't she give us both of her attention? Shannon gave me the impression of being a horrible and snooty associate. How dare she act arrogant with us, especially with me by acting like I wasn't there? I, in fact, bought two pairs of glasses previously at that location years ago! Shannon gave me the impression of only caring about customers who actually made purchases. I will never forget how she treated me and my brother as if we were nobodies. Paying customers or not, anyone walking through LensCrafter's doors have a right to feel welcome and not underestimated. Shannon should be ashamed of her behavior that day. I would love for her to apologize and clean my pair of glasses well as my brother's. When a customer requests a cleaning when LensCrafter's advertises that cleanings are free, then the associate must comply. I didn't want to make a scene that day as my brother gets very upset when I throw a fit, but I write this here and did call the store this morning to let Shirley (an associate) know about this matter. I hope to definitely speak to Kim, the manager, about this situation. Shannon should be warned about her conduct or terminated. read more

I have been going to this optometrist's office for ten years, but my latest experience has been a nightmare and I will not return. Dr. Sharma was very friendly, and at my last visit he told me that once I have worn the trial contacts for a few days, I can just call his office, tell them that they are OK, and they will email me my prescription. This was exactly three weeks ago today. I called the office several times, and each time the receptionist assured me that they will send the prescription ASAP. Today she just shared that the doctor is out 'for about a week' (information that she chose not to mention that last few times I called). I paid $240 for the eye exam and a month later still have no prescription. read more

This is the worst worst worst glasses store I have ever been to! All the store representatives have certainly no idea what does it mean by customer service. A so called "professional" broke my glasses frame after adjusting it, and refused to compensate me anything! Giving me 20% off to the frame! That's what the sales price is. Pros: Excellent selection, great location, reasonable prices Cons: I've had massive headaches for a year, and here's why: (this is long, but bear with me.) I went there a year ago to get new glasses. I found great frames and brought in my new Rx to get it filled. After I picked up my glasses and wore them for a day, I knew something was wrong- I could barely see a thing. But my Rx was fine- I could see through my new contacts with the same Rx just fine. I went in and explained that I believed there was a mistake. The woman checked my Rx, and said, that I was wrong, and they were indeed my Rx. I asked her why I couldn't see through the lenses, and she said "Oh, poly lenses get dirty easily. Just clean them daily." And off she sent me. I didn't know any better, and I couldn't afford new glasses or another eye test, so I kept the glasses for a year. Plagued with headaches constantly, barely able to see anything beyond 20 ft, cleaning the lenses more than once a day. I can't believe I lasted this long with them without going insane. So, after a year, my eye insurance renewed and I could get another pair. I went to a new eye doctor and glasses place (Central Square Eye! love them!) and explained this to my new eye doctor. He says to me "Well, I am really sorry to tell you this, but you are what we call 'poly non-compliant'. It's a big deal, and it can be very harmful to your eyes, and any one with proper training should have known this and given you different lenses." So in a nutshell, my eyes are not able to see through the poly lenses that LensCrafters gave to me. It caused constant headaches and eye strain. And the folks at LensCrafters WERE NOT AWARE that this could happen, and let me take these glasses home, despite the fact that this is not an uncommon problem yet a harmful one. I would not trust them with my eyes ever again, nor do I recommend that you do, either. read more

The LensCrafters website says: "We use the accurate prescription from your eye exam*, the information gathered by your associate during your store visit, including your AccuFit™ measurements that account for your face shape, as well as the type of lens you need." If my prescription had been accurate, I'm sure that I would have had a great experience here. The associates listened to my needs, helped me weigh pros and cons of different lenses, and gave me loaners when the frame color and lens type I wanted weren't directly available. Unfortunately the prescription wasn't accurate, so all the emotional support, adjustments, coaxing, double checking that the lenses matched the (wrong) prescription, etc., was for naught but leaving me with debilitating headaches and nausea for a week. The doctor did see me again, but gave me a drastically different prescription only after a lot of assertiveness. They would make me a new set of lenses with the new prescription at no cost. The frames were also still leaving painful indents on my nose despite many adjustments, and they said I could do one no-cost swap of those. However, I felt burnt out from spending several hours that week on my semi-daily trip to try to wrestle clear and pain-free vision from the glasses I got and was doubtful of the accuracy of the new prescription, so I ended up returning my glasses to start over at some place new. Although this try was not successful, I will definitely consider using LensCrafters again when I need new glasses in the future - but only if I am sure that I have an accurate prescription from somewhere else. The craftsmanship, clarity of vision from the lenses they use, policies that allow for returns and exchanges, and customer service were fantastic. Big shout outs especially to Ivan, Nabil, Adamis, and Evan for their attentive accompaniment through a painful journey. read more

Finally received my glasses a week after they said they were ready. Not sure how the address was printed wrong three times. Unhappy that packaging was lackluster. My glasses came in an eyeglass case without a cloth cleaner. The eyeglass case was packaged in another small box. When I picked it up, it was bouncing around in the box, no bubble wrap, no tissue paper, nothing to protect it, especially since it has been in transit for one week! On top of that, I think someone went through great pains to finish the job. The nose pieces don't say Prada. The bridge on the new pair seems weaker than the older pair. (I can only make these statements because these new frames are supposed to be the exact same as the old ones.) I am incredibly disappointed with the service and finished product. Any ideas who I can complain to? Prada frames with no name pieces is not what I ordered. read more

Was blown off by the receptionist completely in regards to my insurance. As a medical professional, I understand the complications of insurance all too well. So, to have been blown off and not even have her check my insurance was absurd. The other staff are pretty ok Esp the manager Nabil but the female optician Sherry, really gave me a hard time every time I went there. Also their adjustment skills are not that great. I went there often to have my glasses adjusted Cuz they didn't seem very good at it. The frame never fitted. Imagine how frustrating was it that I have to go there every week to adjust my frame. And she just had an unfriendly attitude which made me very uncomfortable. She broke my glasses without apologizing. And then she got me another pair thro my insurance. But she never called to find a new frame until I called after a month. I will still go to lens crafter but not this beacon st store. read more

Two years ago I came here to get my eyes checked. The prescription I got was way too strong -- I could barely see out of them. So I went back and got another exam by a different doctor, and she said, "Oh, it's not that these are too strong; they're the right prescription. It's just that you waited so long between checkups that your eyes aren't adjusted to these." So she cut the prescription in half and it's been okay -- but I've always felt that they're a little off. Well, today my suspicions were confirmed: the second doctor at Lenscrafters was just covering the first doctor by making up that excuse. I live in Oregon now, and the optometrist I saw here said, "No...this prescription is actually too strong for you, still. There's no way you needed something twice this strength." Lesson learned. I'll probably never go to a LensCrafters again. read more

This review is for the optician services. I've been here three times in three weeks to get new contacts. It had been a loooong time since I'd had my prescription renewed, and I was getting headaches. You can make a Saturday appointment but *not* for follow-ups on contact lens fittings. I think Dr. Buduo is only there during the week and presumably she needs to have the final say on your prescription. Follow-up appointments are only available 10am - 6pm, Monday - Friday. Anywho, my first, Saturday appointment was with the very friendly and capable Dr. Bautista (people in Brookline are so dern cheerful). She wanted to save me $$ on the toric fitting (which is for those of us with an astigmatism) so she gave me a prescription with regular lenses. But after wearing those for a week, the lenses were still wonky, and I ponied up for the toric fitting with Dr. Buduo. She's a little more brisk but still very personable, and on my third and final visit it was just a confirmation of the prescription with the new, toric lenses. I did have a look through the eyeglass selection, which wasn't too exciting. Either cool and wicked expensive, or lame and affordable. So it is. I have Aetna health care so the contact lens/eyeglass prescription appointment was only $40, and then only $20 additional for the toric fitting (I was told it was going to be $60 additional, but I realize it was just $60, total). If you have Aetna, it's a great deal! If not, the $75 for the eye exam ain't so bad, especially since the people working there are so professional and friendly. read more

A lesson in haste making waste indeed... I went to this place mainly because I'm familiar with Lenscrafters (they're sort of the McDonalds of eyeglasses), plus my mom and brother had both recently gone to Lenscrafters branches and had pretty good luck. The independent optometrist I saw at this location, Dr. Cho (Dr. Buduo was out that day), was very nice, personable, and professional, and she explained everything very clearly. So that part was good. The standard eye exam was $75, which is not outlandish, but this opt. office only accepts Aetna and EyeMed insurance; since I don't have either of those, I had to pay everything out of pocket. Not so good. Things went further downhill when I went into the Lenscrafters store afterward to pick out frames. The sales girl who I wound up with was decently nice, but she just wasn't very helpful. She started off by pulling a pair of thick plastic-rimmed red frames with rectangular lenses... fug on a platter, in my opinion. I like simple, clean styles and have a heart-shaped face, so I wanted something more oval- or teacup-shaped to help balance things out. I asked the sales girl if she had anything similar to my old glasses (semi-rimless metal frames with oval lenses), and she then proceeded to pull the exact same frames I have now in a different color and a pair of plum frames with a cheap Claire's-looking purple stone in the side of them. Oh god. I had been hoping to have someone who seemed interested in making this process fun and had a good understanding of fitting frames to a face, but alas -- no such luck. Eventually I was so discouraged with the experience (and so wishing I had just waited and gone to an independent store) that I said I'd sleep on it and took my prescription with me. If I go back I'm going to ask to just look around by myself for a while to see if I missed anything good, but the selection did not look terribly extensive, either -- there's a good chance I'll just take my Rx to a different place. read more

LensCrafters is terrible and really gone downhill. They don't stand behind their products and the Brookline store opticians do not know what they are doing. First they sold me glasses with graded lenses that were not made right and the lenses were replaced but in the process the optician stretched and damaged the frames when trying to fix them. I got to wear them loose for a couple of weeks. When I returned the optician told me they only stand behind their products for 30 days and there is nothing they can do. No one should purchase from Lensecrafters, they are overpriced and purchase sub quality products. read more

Customer service is way better now! I've been back twice to get a pair of glasses that I ordered off of coastal.com adjusted. The first time, they were very hesitant with the adjustments. The second time, they made sure they fit perfectly and weren't sliding off of my face. The optician was even able to spot the the centers (I'm sure that's not the right term, but I can't remember exactly what he called them) were about 10mm too low, and while this won't damage my eyes, it would be good to see if coastal would fix them for free. So, I got great service for free, for a pair of frames I did not buy there, and advice on how to make those glasses better. Also, they were very on top of helping customers in the order that they walked in. read more

I see from other reviews that I am not the first person to identify the incompetence of this staff. When I received my first order I had problems reading books or computer screens with my progressive lenses. They rudely claimed it was my optometrist's fault. I went back to my optometrist who showed how the PD/progression was way off. I went back and they reordered the lenses but never took responsibility. I received the "corrected" lenses and the right lens is still off. Still not taking responsibility they want me to go back to my optometrist. I complained to corporate customer service only to receive a canned response. read more

I have mixed feelings about my experience at this LensCrafters. I came here to get a new pair of glasses as I had lost mine and needed new ones immediately. I specifically decided to go to LensCrafters because although their prices are higher than where I usually go, they advertise glasses in 1 hour. Just as many other reviews mention, there was 'no technician in' and the quickest they could get me my new glasses was two days away. I unfortunately still went ahead with LensCrafters as this was still quicker than the place I usually use, but I was annoyed with the false advertising. Luckily I had an old pair of glasses I could wear during the two day waiting period, but it wasn't ideal wearing an old precription. The staff member who assisted me was friendly enough and was able to look up my eye insurance to get me a lower price so that was appreciated. Overall, I would call this location in advance before you show up and expect glasses same-day. Side note: My family has used LensCrafters in Natick many times and has never had an issue getting new glasses on the same day as they advertise so if you do need them quickly perhaps give Natick a try instead of the Coolidge Corner location. read more

Dr. Buduo was so great, listened to all my concerns, and helped customize my eyecare routine to my preference, my job, and my prescription. She gave me advice on eye drops to use, the right type of contacts, etc. The staff is really polite and helpful, and I felt really comfortable asking a whole host of questions. As for the Lenscrafters store, it was SUCH a positive experience!!! I am annoyingly picky, have a high prescription, and don't have a lot of money. i had to get my first pair of glasses two weeks ago - ushering me fully into adulthood complete with failing eyesight and maybe in another two weeks, osteoporosis. ANYWAY... my company offers a nice discount at lenscrafters, and seeing as i live 3 blocks from this location, i stopped by one evening about 7PM. the general manager was working the floor, a great lady whose name i totally can't remember and we talked about my first pair and how i feel like i have a weird face non conducive to glasses, and then we made our rounds. honestly i would have preferred walking around the store unaccompanied, you know trying all sorts of different frames on, because i **kind of** felt like she was trying to get me to buy an expensive pair. i know when frames are well below eyeline they are cheaper and she kept choosing high-placed pairs. that said i probably would have ended up with glasses i didn't really like. we went through the whole store, with no rush of "1 hour till closing" implied and i picked out four pairs that we sat down with and i kept trying on until i narrowed it to 2, and then the winning pair. it was actually fun. and she was SO nice, geniunely nice and she wasn't pushy. glasses are ready in an hour, though at the end of the day i was asked to come back the next morning, which is totally fine, i get that. i also ended up getting a pair of ray ban sunglasses there which i like in style but craftsmanship BLOWS. I've gone back and they very graciously tried to adjust them to fit me exactly the way i want, but i think they are just crap sunglasses so i do plan on returning them. 4 stars for service, speed, selection and (something with an s...) sex appeal. as in mine, with my new glasses. i look like a VERY naughty secretary. read more

The morning after I stepped on and broke my glasses (which were already a backup pair), I called Lenscrafters. I needed a check-up anyway since it had been almost 2 years since my last one. I was pleased that they could schedule me for that day. This was my second visit at this location -- first time, got a cute pair of Ralph Lauren frames. There was an issue with the base curve of the lenses and pupil distance being off, so I did have to return for them to correct that, but it did get sorted out eventually. I saw Dr. Buduo and it's true, she's all business and perhaps a tad curt. But she seems to know what she's doing and I wasn't in the mood for a leisurely eye appointment. The only kind of alarming thing was that she told me one of my optic nerves was enlarged but then didn't explain at all what that meant or if I should be concerned etc. I think the glasses selection is ok -- I found a pair I really like for $169. Since I needed something ASAP and my lenses had to be special-ordered, they actually made me a loaner pair in my frames with my prescription (my lenses with the anti-reflective coating weren't in stock). So I was able to get a pair in an hour and when my lenses get in, they will switch them out. I didn't catch the name of the saleswoman who helped me with the frames, but she was very nice and helpful (and honest about which pairs fit my face the best). read more

Everyone there was exceptionally nice and helpful. I went two days in a row and the employees recognized me and remembered things we had discussed the day before. I picked frames on Saturday and came back for an optometrist appt. on Sunday. Very quick and convenient. The sales manager seemed to be a little mean (to the staff), but I didn't deal with her so no biggie. The optometrist appt was quick, helpful, and friendly. Decent selection of glasses. The only thing that threw me off was paying $400 for glasses. Maybe that is standard and I just don't realize. read more

They have great deals and every time we go there, its great. We even stop by if we're in the neighborhood to say hi to Julie and get our glasses cleaned. And they ALWAYS are helpful. This is the worst eye care facility I have ever been to. I have never written such a poor review, but feel that others should appreciate a few things so do not make the same mistake I did. 1) Billing is entirely unclear. While they claim to "have explained everything to you when I left a message before your appointment", the charges for fittings and evaluations were not delineated. I ended up with a bill an order of magnitude larger than expected for no additional value. Note, other optometrists in the area help customers weigh the options vs. out-of-pocket costs. 2) The individuals who help select and fit glasses are entirely unwilling and unable to navigate insurance and are transactional. For whatever reason, they are unable to bring up your benefits, and repeatedly kept saying that the costs will be whatever they will be. They are unwilling to help you evaluate options. 3) While Dr. Buduo may be knowledgeable, the one associate I was seen by was not. While kind, he was unable to propose alternatives to my current situation with my contacts and glasses. read more

Buying glasses here is comparable to the dreaded interaction with a car salesman. You can't help but wonder how the math is working out the way it is, and the explanations are incredibly convoluted and unclear, to the point you feel like you are being scammed. Sales attempts are aggressive, to the point they are scoffing at you, when you decline the several upgrades, add-ons, warrantees and their cleaning cloth/spray (yes those were all brought up in the sale). Go spend your benefits, flexspend, or money elsewhere, where the customer service is bound to be better. read more

Over the last 10 years I've had great luck at Lenscrafters in Coolidge Corner - that is until recently. I had incredible issues with a pair of frames and had to have them readjusted every 3 weeks for almost a year before I finally freaked out and demanded new glasses. My only complaint with this store was that not a single staff member offered a permanent solution in all of my frequent/monthly visits. Best Experience Purchasing Glasses Ever. The entire process from start to finish was streamlined and convenient. The staff are super helpful and patient. They helped me pick out frames, gave me numerous price quotes on different frames and lenses, and their computer system tells you automatically whether the frames are covered by your insurance. I have been back numerous times for frame adjustments and they treat me like a paying customer every time. I will not go anywhere else for glasses as long as I live in the area. read more

I walked in with a prescription that said "poly carbon lens ONLY" and the optician up sold me to high index lens. I didn't know the difference, I just needed to protect my eyes and stated that repeatedly. On my next visit the optician's colleagues informed me that he wasn't being forthright and the high index lens would not protect my eyes like poly carbon would, and because the prescription said "poly carbon lens ONLY" he shouldn't have suggested anything else.
