The interior of the practice itself is decorated with obvious delight and joy, with a clear emphasis on being a safe space for clients. Dr. Ah-Kiné fosters a sense of relaxed competence and straightforward communication that is all too often a rare thing in medical professionals. They explained the procedures as they performed them, gave no judgements or lectures for any information I offered (I'm getting better about sleeping in contacts, I promise), and overall gave me their full attention for the length of my appointment. Mac was similarly a warm and welcoming help in discussing options for contact pricing and glasses, and the front desk staffperson was prompt, friendly, and had truly fantastic eyeliner wings. :) Overall: Gaze is 100% my new go-to eye doctor, no question about it. The office is very large and nice with a fireplace in the waiting room and plenty of exam rooms. Dr Macbeth's assistant did all the pre-testing with me. I opted for the Optomap even though it's not covered by my insurance. I'm definitely not cheap when it comes to the health of my eyes. I forgot the assistant's name, but she was very nice, knowledgeable and professional. Dr Macbeth continued with the rest of my exam. She is very nice, knowledgeable and pleasant. What I loved about this office was how hi-tech all the "machines" are. After being a patient at Lenscrafters, Pearl Vision and a low-tech family-run eye doctor in Watertown (for the past 5 years) I was very impressed with Dr Bennett's office. I wear contacts mostly, but I wanted to get a cool new pair of glasses and Dr Macbeth had some good tips for me. After my exam I was led to the frame specialist, April, who was great, very helpful in helping me choose my new frames. I tried on so many of them, I was very picky and it took me a very long time to finally choose the right frames. Can't wait to pick them up next week.

I'll agree that they seem a bit expensive - I haven't had to pay just for contact consultation before, and they took some images which was an additional cost (they let me know about that ahead of time, at least). I had my most recent eye exam here, mainly out of convenience, but I'm really glad I ended up here. Both Dr Edward and her assistant were really great. They were friendly, kind, and thoroughly answered all of my questions. I had some hi-res retinal imaging done in place of the usual pupil dilation, and Dr Edward walked me through everything shown in the images, and explained it all in detail. Sometimes doctors tend to use a lot of arcane medical terminology in their explanations, which can leave the rest of us just nodding our heads, but in this case, Dr Edward explained it all in terms I easily understood. I definitely appreciate that kind of attention. The office is clean and tidy, and I was in and out of there in around 30 minutes. The shop is small, but there are more than enough samples to try on. Target Optical is owned by Luxottica, so all of your favorite eyewear brands are available, like Oakley, Ray Ban, Armani Exchange, etc. The other thing I genuinely appreciated was that I didn't feel pressured to buy something while I was browsing the shop, as has often been my experience in other places. I didn't have time that day to actually pick out a new pair of glasses, but I will definitely be heading back over there for my next frames.

The receptionist was able to fit me in the very next day and double checked both my eye insurance and my health insurance to make sure I was utilizing all my benefits and paying the least out of pocket (I had already used up my free exam with another eye doctor). Place: clean, well organized. docked 1/2 a star because i think the frame selection was small but they do have other locations so perhaps this one isn't as big. My doctor was Abigail, sweet woman, walked me through everything, very personable. The exam went smoothly and she explained all my contact lens options and gave me a trial set for a week (which was WAY better than my last brand). I had to come back in a few day to get my eyes dilated. Docked the next 1/2 star because I was a little shocked at how aggressive Abigail was when putting the drops in my eye. I sat down in the chair and she was on me pulling my eyes open and BANG! Drop! Maybe that's how they have to do it but give a girl some warning before pouncing! I've been going here for years, which is why this experience was especially disappointing…read more During a recent eye exam, the doctor became concerned that she saw something abnormal and strongly directed me to have an additional test. I had actually been offered this test as an optional service and had declined it because I didn't feel I needed it. But when the doctor reacted as though she had seen something concerning, I understandably became worried about my eyes and agreed to have the test. I was specifically told by the doctor that I would not be charged for it. Thankfully, the test showed that there was nothing to be concerned about, and I was relieved. A few weeks later, however, I received a bill. I suspected it was for the additional test, so I went in to ask about it. Unfortunately, I was given an explanation that did not match what the doctor had told me. I was told that the doctor apparently meant that I personally would not be charged because the cost would be submitted to insurance--but because insurance only covered part of it, I was now responsible for the remaining balance. Weird explanation given that they weren't there and seem to just learn about the issue. That does not make sense to me, particularly when I was explicitly told the test would not be charged. They could not do anything and told me they would leave a message for the doctor. Weeks went by without anyone getting back to me. When I returned to pick up my glasses, I asked about it again and received the same explanation, with no resolution. What's most disappointing is not simply the bill. It's the lack of accountability and follow-through when I raised a legitimate concern. When a doctor makes you believe there may be something wrong with your eyes, you trust what they tell you and make decisions based on that information. If there was a misunderstanding about the billing, I would have expected someone to acknowledge that and work with me to resolve it--not repeatedly give me an explanation that doesn't align with what I was told. I've been a customer for years, but after this experience, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
