Excellent, fair prices. I paid 1/3 the cost of no glare lenses than some chain shops. The owner, Meg, is pleasant and vivacious. I would take my clients, who have a range of psycho-social peculiarities here, and she is patient and understanding across the board. Like many of those who reviewed OMG Optical before me, I really had an amazing experience. Meg is really personable; while we were making conversation, she just picked up my sunglasses and started tightening the screws in them and cleaning the lenses. It made all the difference! I didn't realize how much I had to push up my glasses to keep them on my face until she repaired them. They finally fit my face! I left that day with a promise that my prescription glasses would be ready in two weeks; I was pleasantly surprised when they were ready to pick up a week later! The ONLY downside of OMG Optical is that there aren't more employees (that I've seen). While I would be devastated if I went there to pick up my glasses and she wasn't there, it is unfortunate that the business closes anytime she has to leave for a break or something. I went to pick up my glasses yesterday at 12:30 and it was closed with a sign that read "Be right back!" I am not blaming Meg at all because everyone needs a break! It's just slightly inconvenient for customers to return once they are already there because of it. That being said, I highly recommend this place for your glasses needs because of its AWESOME customer service! read more

The owner is very condescending and rude. The bottom line is: only go here if you are really tight all budget, have no expectation for the service and want to get your glasses at a minimum cost. You are talking about 100-200 for a pair at this place. However, if you think about it, a pair of glasses will last for a least a few years, so I think it's worthy investment. Plus, it's your eyes after all. Anyways, I don't want to trust this condescending and rude owner with my eyes. If you are willing to spend just a little more, there are many much more welcoming and less dirty places around this area. read more

I noticed OMG Optical when it first opened and have since had two interactions with the owner, both of which were very positive! I should also disclose that I have a really hard time finding the right pair of frames/glasses because, I've been told, I have an abnormally small face. That is, normal glasses that look good on everyone look sad and clownish on me. Which means OMG Optical gives hope yet to all small faces of the world. You're not alone. The first was when I trying to do outreach for an event that was happening in Brighton, and I just popped into her shop to try to spread the word. She was very nice and receptive, offered to tell her friends about it and even went so far as to give me some discounts that could be applied for some rx eyeglasses in the future. The second was actually for my eyeglasses! I was on the search for the right pair, having had just gotten my eye exam. and a new pair was overdue. My current frames I still love, but I guess I loved them too much because the paint is chipping off the titanium... Sigh. Anywho! The search took forever, and we went to three different places, including Meg's (the owner of OMG Optical). I spent a significant amount of time at the first, where we were given no guidance whatsoever, even after requesting help! The second place: also didn't feel too welcome there, with no frames that stood out, so off to the third. And we decided on OMG Optical. It was one of the best experiences I have had with eyeglasses! OMG Optical is owned and run by a Brighton Local, which the not-so-inner hippie in me really appreciated! There was us and then another client when we came in, and we were mostly browsing at first. Then, as I was trying some on, Meg offered her perspective and expertise all while still working with the other client in between. She was just really attentive, and gave us her complete and honest opinion whenever I asked. There were a couple of pairs that she didn't hesitate to dismiss as wrong for my face. Then, we came down to two pairs, and I could not make a decision. So I recruited her help then and even put her unsuspecting husband on the spot, and he happily participated. With a room split on the pair, 4 people, 8 eyes evaluating and giving the indecisive me all their advice and feedback, and some photographic analyses with said pairs, I finally decided. The frames are so nice and I am so excited to pick them up! Overall, Meg's OMG Optical is a wonderful little optical place with a nice selection of frames, including sunglasses. She is super nice, very helpful, honest, and just makes you feel so welcome. So support Meg's shop and get your next pair here. You'll see why! get it!? See? A long-winded review, yes. I had a great experience with Meg. She is good in being straightforward with you. And she figured out as she was putting lenses on my eyes that I have an astigmatism! The eye doctor did not figure it out with extensive tests and measurements on machines! I just put a review for this place a couple of days ago, but for some reason, it's not showing up. My doctor always tells me to go to OMG Optical after my eye exam and I have been going to OMG Optical for a few years now and love this place!!!! Always get great service, friendly, professional and very helpful!!! I usually stop by every few months to get my glasses tightened up. Meg always greets me by name and is happy to help me. Yikes! What a dirty, dingy place with a really rude and negative owner haha. I was referred here to pick up glasses through my eye doctor. The owner met me at the desk to ask what I needed. She was so condescending my entire visit just because I didn't know the differences between various types of frames. When I did pick ones I liked, she made me choose a different one which was... bizarre. The shop itself smells like stale cigarette smoke and has a general layer of dust on it. What should have been a 20 minute process took nearly an hour because she wouldn't let me out the door. She kept talking and complaining about life which was mildly awkward. When my glasses finally came in, I basically took them and ran. The options they have for frames is limited and cheap. I'd probably go elsewhere. The shop on the outside looked cute! But the experience itself... whew! read more

I can definitely recommend OMG Optical. I first met the owner, Meg, a few years ago when she was working for another optical supplier. She instantly struck me as the only one in the whole store who was doing her job. We struck up a conversation and connected on LinkedIn. I decided to keep an eye on her because I felt she was going places. I was right. About a year later, she opened up OMG Optical. Admittedly, it was another two years before I had a prescription in hand that required a visit to her store. When I showed up, even after three years, she still remembered me. We chit-chated for a bit while she thoroughly went over my prescription, asked me in depth questions about everything, helped me choose some frames for my new glasses and then placed the orders for the glasses and my contacts. When I picked it all up about a week later, everything was great. She took the time and went over everything in detail. My new glasses have worked like a charm and I will definitely be going back to her. I can't recommend her enough. read more

I have walked by OMG Optical many times, but finally decided to go in today to look for new glasses. I wish I had gone in sooner! Meg was great- very knowledgeable and professional. She took the time to help me pick out new frames that were the right size, shape, and color for my face. I usually have a hard time picking out glasses, but I fell in love with a pair pretty quickly. This place is amazing! I went in today with my friend who was visiting from out of town and had an amazing experience. My friend who doesn't have insurance was able to get a very affordable price to get new glasses and also have them done with in 24 hours. I like that this place is independently owned because the owner gave us a lot of attention individually and I felt like the financial needs were very well taken into consideration. The woman who owns this was very friendly and I would 100% recommend to anyone as they will not just be lip serviced like a larger corporate but have there needs met and questioned answered personally. read more

I had a pair of designer sunglasses with a missing screw for one of the hinges and I brought them by the shop. I was told it was an easy fix and when I asked how much it would be the woman told me it was FREE. It took her less than a few minutes to fix, she cleaned my lenses, and I was on my way. In the words of the woman who assisted me "we're not here to nickel and dime you like most other stores," and she was absolutely right.
