It's story time: Unbeknownst to me my glasses fell off the nightstand at the hotel during the night. This morning when I got out of bed I heard a CRUUUNCH and realized that I stepped on my glasses and they are bent and broken. You can imagine my panic. I took the broken frames and lens and went looking for an optometrist. The first place I ran to, that was recommended by the hotel front desk, was closed, (this is the third recommendation by the same front desk person that utterly SUCKED, but I digress), and I realized the lens is now missing! So I ran back to the hotel, found the lens (yes!) and looked for another spot. I found one on yelp (5 stars), close to the hotel, and ran there. In the meantime I called the other person working with me, to give her a heads up that I may miss the first meeting today trying to fix the problem. The lab was in this run down building, non-descript entrance, down the hall on a confusing second floor. I entered, still panicked, and showed them what happened. "Let me see what I can do" was the response (with a big disarming smile behind the mask). And with that I handed over my bent frames, lens and all. Long story short; we struck a conversation (he wants to retire in San Diego) and about 15 minutes later the frames were fixed "not perfect but that's the best I can do!" was what Yong, the optometrist said. I couldn't thank him enough! I really couldn't thank them enough for saving the day. I'm thinking of going back to buy a spare set of glasses to give them some of my business. They are very accommodating to my very difficult eye prescriptions (extreme near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism) and give me the best solution for a clear vision without incurring unnecessary prescriptions for my needs.
