Sept: after three weeks .i received a call/voice message said I can pick up my glasses. My girlfriend was nearby so I told her to pick up for me. She Went there and the lady said no glasses. Next 2 week me and my girlfriend was near Chinatown. We both went up to the doctor and still didn't have my glasses. I know it was my fault not to call first but come on after 2 week. Total time of 2 months lol. Finally Next few day they call led me and left message . Of course I'm call and confirm ask them stupid question if the glasses are physical holding in their hand. Otherwise I would not go there. Took me 2 months and 3 visit to get my glasses lol . I know maybe this was an odd day.

After excusing myself from work to make this appointment and walking through a slushy city, I was not very happy with the fact that the place was closed. The agreement that you have with your booking company (ZocDoc) says that all appointments available on the on-line system are available (they called me to explain this). And here is the text that I received on my phone confirming the appointment: 'ZocDoc appt reminder: 3:30 PM Today Dr. Xinsheng Zhu 65 Harrison Aven, Suite 403, Boston (617) 426-1726' To me, this looks an awful lot like a confirmation.

Dr. Curtis was great as always and the staff at the new place was just as wonderful. I purchased a pair of eyeglasses after the appointment which was the first time I did that in a long time (thanks Liz!). I usually just get my eye exam and contacts fitting at one place and purchase my glasses elsewhere (due to a lack of options I like) and order lenses online (cheaper). I also tried Warby Parker for a few years. However, Dr. Curtis' new location has a great selection of glasses. I got a pair of Tom Ford eyeglasses and when I came back to have the glasses fitted I ended up buying a pair of prescription sunnies (my first time buying prescription sunnies!). I was initially going to purchase my own sunnies from Bloomies and have the lenses replaced with prescription lenses but the Broad Street store had such a great selection that I ended up picking a pair of sunnies from there (thanks Liz!). The staff was patient and helpful in helping me figure out what was best for me. They were not pushy and were wonderful! I'm happy with my purchases and grateful for the wonderful customer service.

My prescription ended up being dead wrong (a return process I need to now tackle), and the whole staff was HIGHLY manipulative. Other reviews are right- I found myself in a painful atmosphere almost like buying a used car, in a position where I was trying to politely fend off for HOURS the deskperson, who kept trying to up charge after up charge for frames that would "fit my face better". One old OD was too busy taking selfies with his patient(?), another younger one at one point just shrugged to my question and goes "I dunno". I'm not one to complain about demeanor, but I really mean it when I say this place has left me dumbfounded. When they're not trying to manipulate you into getting a $1000 pair of lenses, they're totally unaware to your even being there. This was just so awful and has left me with such a headache. EyeBar had an appointment at a convenient time and I when I arrived, I was seen right on time. I believe that my examination was thorough. I really liked the widget that takes a picture of my retina. The optometrist was able to review that in a couple of different contrasts and even zoom in on one spot. Great to know that we have a record there that can be compared when I return next year. Thankfully, my prescription hasn't changed and my eye health is excellent.
