From the initial consultation, the staff were friendly, patient and understanding of my nerves. On the day of my surgery, Dr. Giles was great and made me feel comfortable the entire time. The procedure took less than 20 minutes and was painless. After the procedure I experienced very little discomfort and after a few days, any discomfort I did have completely went away. I experienced dry eyes for the first week, but since then that has also gone away. Being able to see is the greatest gift and I am beyond grateful to TLC for giving me the gift of eyesight. If you are nervous to get LASIK, know that I was too, but wish I hadn't been so nervous because in the end I had such a positive experience.

They performed preliminary exams to diagnose the possibility of surgery. After that, they scheduled the surgery date and, finally, on the day of surgery, they assisted me throughout the procedures and, most importantly, always kept me calm and confident about the surgery. I am truly grateful for their professionalism and passion for the work they do. Congratulations to the entire team, especially Dr. Christina La, Brandy, the doctor who performed the surgery, and the friendly lady who performed the initial exams. "I'm sorry I didn't write your name, but you know who you are." Congratulations to the entire team! Excellent work and keep loving what you do. You are the best.

Let's talk Lasik. Granted, it hasn't even been 48 hours since my surgery, so if my eyes fall out, I…read morepromise I'll update this review. I'm the type of person where if there's even a microscopic chance of disaster, I'm certain it'll happen to me. I prepped myself for this surgery by stumbling around my house blindfolded while asking "Could I live like this?" Even with that answer being a resounding "NO," I decided to finally take the plunge before my 40th birthday. In sum, so far it's one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I strongly regret not doing it a decade ago. The experience at Clear Advantage is streamlined and professional. You quickly feel like you are in great hands and that nothing can go wrong. From the front desk, to the initial assessments with the techs, everyone is extraordinarily friendly while also emanating an air of "chill out dude, we do this all the time." And really, that's all I needed to accept the frightening proposition of lasers slicing my eyes open. The surgery itself is quick and painless. Doctor Peters calmly explains the process, you're in the chair for maybe 10 minutes, and the laser is more fascinating than terrifying. I entered the operation legally blind. Immediately afterwards my vision was still blurry, but much clearer than before. After a 2 hour, Valium-induced nap, I awoke to 20/15 vision. I only had 20/20 with contact lenses. It was a revelation. You must avoid all tv/phone screens during the first day and are on a strict prescription and lubricated eyedrops routine for the next month. It's a nuisance, but easily worth it. I live nearly an hour from Clear Advantage and chose them after a recommendation from my local eye doctor. I strongly feel like they must be the best in the region. Doctor Peters and the entire staff make the process clear, casual and pain-free. It's been nearly 30 years since I've had vision like this without contacts/glasses. Don't make my mistake and rule out this operation from fear.

LASIK. I am writing this review less than 24 hours after my procedure and have already driven to a…read morefollow up appointment sans pain and with 20/15 vision. This is all truly surreal. I was so impressed with the kindness and thoroughness of the process and staff. I initially wanted to get both eyes done but after reviewing one of my eyes they denied it due to some scarring from a previous ulcer. They noted that their practice is conservative with the patients they take and let's be honest, that is EXACTLY what you want when you're going to have a procedure affecting your eyesight. In terms of the procedure I definitely had some nerves but they truly put me at ease with explaining how quick and foolproof the technology is, if your eyes move, the laser moves. How cool? If anyone is on the fence about getting this procedure, I cannot stress enough how incredible Dr. Peters is as well as the whole staff at Clear Advantage. The 1-2 hours of discomfort after the numbing meds wore off is nothing compared to the feeling of waking up being able to see unassisted and without pain. I live a hour away and I am so happy I made the trek to Portsmouth to get this done. 10/10, do it.

In the interests of full disclosure, I've had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Paul Botelho personally,…read moreso when it came time for cataract surgery last year, he was the natural choice. Lest you think it's only due to personal relationship, Paul is also an instructor at Brown. Who better to perform eye surgery? That said, the overall experience was very positive, from scheduling to the exam process, then surgery, then billing question follow up. The actual surgery is done in batches, almost assembly-line styler. That may sound negative, but the staff was very attentive to all patients' personal needs and kept the process extremely organized so my mind was at ease knowing I was in good hands. Kudos to all the staff for a job well done! This office is highly recommended.

I have been looking for a good eye doctor for some time now. After visiting a few (and regretting…read moreit) I decided to give Advanced Eye Centers a call. I used to see one of the founding doctors years ago when I was young, as I've had eye issues all of my life. It was easy to schedule my appointment as I was still in their system after what had to be 8 or 12 years! They went over my insurance with me and explained what I'd be expected to pay at my first visit. I was able to get an appointment scheduled about two weeks out, but that was partly because my own work schedule is busy! I arrived about 10 minutes early and completed some simple paperwork. I was the only one in the waiting room and right on time was greeted by Dr. Michaud, an OD at the practice. My exam was thorough but quick, which was really great as I was in and out in about 30 minutes. I was able to get a pair of contacts in my new prescription to wear home and ordered a few months worth to be delivered to my house - super convenient. Check out was simple and easy. They do have an optical shop on premises which is convenient, but I chose to keep my old frames and they do charge a fee on top of the lense replacement charge if you aren't purchasing new ones through them. I elected to shop around for prices, so I didn't spend too much time in the shop. The doctor and staff were friendly and helpful and the practice was very clean. I had a great experience and will continue to visit them in the future.

I was the only one in my waiting area, the previous patient had been attended to by his medical assistant. Dr Yang came out directly and treated me without his assistant taking me first, when I noted/asked 'do you do your own prep-work?' -- he said 'well i know people on early appointments are usually trying to get to work or somewhere else, so rather than have you wait I decided to do the prep-work myself because the medical assistant is busy with another patient. Beyond his pro-activeness, Dr Yang was professional, patient and competent and had good 'bed-side' manner. I highly recommend Dr Yang!

I am hoping someone had or have not had a similar experience:…read more Bear with me - broke a pair of glasses less than a year after getting them. My fault. Clumsy. I called to say just that-----I broke them and i needed to get a replacement pair. Not a new prescription. The appointment rep looked up my info and said the optical shop I got my glasses at was no longer in network and that i needed a new eye exam. This appointment took months to book which is the norm now. Got to my appointment, checked in, got seen. Then, I received a bill. Called the billing department to discuss, whoever I spoke to was clearly working from home and basically no help at all trying to explain what had happened. Too noisy and too busy shooshing kids and pets in the background. Got frustrated. I actually said F U on the phone. Hung up. Brought the new prescription at a different optical shop--The Optician asked for my insurance info----same as on the phone and going in person....the Optician was the one who saw that the prescription wasn't needed. Too soon. I explained exactly what happened and she said all she can do is order the exact same prescription, I was trembling with frustration - not at her. BECAUSE that is exactly what i told the appointment rep when i called months ago. She said the initial appointment rep should have seen that it was too soon for a new eye exam before booking the appointment and should have just order me a new pair. No need for an eye exam. I was not told this when I made the appointment over the phone, because again the person who made the appointment was also working from home like the billing person and probably not paying attention to what I was saying or looking at my insurance information in their system. Even if the first person missed my insurance information over the phone, the check in person should have seen it was too soon. I would have preferred to be turned away when I got there than to be billed for a non needed exam. How come the phone person AND the check in person didn't see my insurance information? AND me saying in person and over the phone that I just needed a replacement pair didn't register? Thanks for reading my vent. Calling tomorrow and asking for a supervisor or manager.

I had my consultation 6/8th/2020 which was roughly around 3 hours and surgery schedule Thursday…read more6/11th/3020. Just a little background on me, I'm 30yrs old I have been short sighted since I was 7. So I've always had to wear glasses which isn't convenient in many ways especially being an athlete. I've Always wanted to get lasik surgery done but have always been contemplating the issue and uncertainty of it and also committing that kind of money towards it. The reason I finally decided to do it is, for the past couple months my eye sight was dramatically getting worse and worse every other day and I was starting to lose my vision in my left eye, So I finally decided to use up all of money in my savings and set up the appointment to get the surgery done during my vacation week. I was praying that I met the requirements to be able to qualify for geting the surgery done. So It was a scary feeling because I know my Vision was getting worse and also excited feeling knowing that it was a chance I could be able to see better without having to wear glasses or contacts. By the way if you wear contacts I would recommend not where them about 2 weeks before your procedure they normally say 7 days is good but I wanted to be extra safe and stop wearing it 2 weeks prior consultation. After About 3 hours of the consultation I was notified that I am elegible for lasik surgery except that my left eye was on the border line of being able to get this procedure done so got me a little nervous. Eli was AMAZING with every single step by step test and very informative and made me feel comfortable about the whole procedure. Also the front desk ladies were great also. I was told Dr.Seth would make the final call on that decision but great news When I found out that I got a green light on the procedure. Now the day of the procedure I was in and out roughly 30mins. But Process itself took about average 5- 6 minutes for each eye. They do Give you eye drops to numb your eyes so you do not feel any pain at all or discomfort, All you can do is feel the pressure but nothing to worry about. Once the procedure was done you do see as if you look in underwater, And just as they recommend when you go home take a nap and follow the medication as schedule. You will see blood shot in the white area of your eyes after surgery that is normal don't be alarm, in about 2-2 1/2 weeks it will clear up and heal. You will need to wear sunglasses for couple weeks as well to protect your eye from accidentally being poked and irritated by the sun. when I woke up the day after surgery I totally could see 20/20 it was an amazing feeling, a moment I have dreamed and prayed about for many years. This has been the best decision I've made in my life and it's definitely worth the money and getting it done. Also fyi it is suggested to get the procedure before the age of 40 if you want to have a chance of great vision. I very much HIGHLY RECOMMENDING GETTING LASIK DONE. You do deal with dryness in the eyes but the artificial eye drops prescribed will help for the next 6 months until the eyes start producing it's own tears. One of the eye drops you need to take for the next 6 months day and night, is really expensive so be ready for that depending on your insurance coverage. $2000 for a 3month supply so just a heads up, all depending what % your insurance covers. But having 20/20 vision that price is worth it . As I write this today July 12 a month later my vision is still great, the dryness is still there especially with the summer heat. I do experience lil blurriness when I first wake up in the morning but that's just from the night eye drop you take before bed bcuz it is a lil creamy compared to the artificial eye drops which is like tears. I have my 1 month follow up this Friday 17th super excited. Hope All of you who are considering getting the surgery by reading this post it helps, I do my best to be as detail and informative and share with you make Experience and I really hope it helps in making a decision and I hope you do decide to get it and you have the same great experience as I do
