I had laser eye surgery on 8/15/2001 and I loved it. everything was great. But now 23 years later I need glasses to drive. I looked into using their lifetime warranty that they say is good at any location. I had mine done in OKC Oklahoma. TLC told me that location closed down and they do not have to honor the lifetime warranty anymore. I would not use anyone that does not stand behind what they advertise on their website. Do not trust TLC!!! read more

I got my lasik done in JC TN in 2004. The care, procedure and post op were great. Just one thing they fail to tell you is when they close a store down, that voids your warranty on any more procedures for your eyes. So you have to start over as a new patient and pay for the procedure again. As they closed down my clinic . So be advised. If they shut down your store your screwed. read more

I recently received the PRK laser eye surgery for vision correction on BOTH eyes about 2 weeks ago. I waited until I could see clearly enough to write this review and after an opthalmologist verified that my eyes were healing normally. I'm a homemaker and stay-at-home mom of an older, more independent child, so I don't have to worry about rushing back to work full-time. Husband was very supportive. First of all, I have to mention that the surgery itself felt surreal, something you would see in a sci-fi film come to reality. Ever watch Futurama? This was easier than going to the dentist!! Each eye literally only took about 5-7 minutes to get fixed. There was absolutely no pain and no blood. All I had to do was relax and focus on the blinking light; I was given a dose of Valium and a stress ball to help. Numbing eyes drops were used for local anesthesia and tons of cooling eye drops during the surgery to relieve dryness and discomfort. You're in good, capable and gentle hands with surgeon Dr. Ezra Galler. I didn't qualify for the LASIK procedure, but I was reassured that the end results for PRK would be similar to LASIK. While you can immediately see clearly after LASIK, it normally takes weeks for your vision to improve with PRK. Everyone heals at a different rate. For me, my vision for distance was blurry but legal to drive in RI within a week during the daytime. I felt confident driving on short, familiar 20-minute routes with navigation assistance. I have dry eyes, so my vision fluctuated over the course of 2 weeks. By day 16 post-op, I am able to read my emails clearly without any effort. My vision continues to sharpen as each day passes. By week 3, Dr. Galler had to insert tear duct plugs (painlessly inserted in seconds) to slow down the drainage of natural tears and eye drops to alleviate my dry eye syndrome, which was causing blurred vision. I can now see clearly when my eyes are moist. He also prescribed a stronger steroid eye drop for my allergies (I occasionally wake up with crusty eyes--sucks having high maintenance needs). I highly recommend using the Refresh Celluvisc preservative free eye drops w/ 1% carboxymethylcellulose sodium. Lasts the longest and most comfortable and effective than the other brands I tried. Can use as often as needed to relieve dryness. Dr. Galler recommends Genteal water soluble gel drops for added relief. TLC also offers a special kit for dry eyes at around $200; includes fish oil supplements, microwavable warming gel pack for your eyes, etc. Comes in a zippered bag to keep your eye drops organized. Clean and pleasant office. Nice staff. Financing available at 0% interest. Free parking with validation. Best decision I ever made after procrastinating and chickening out for years! read more

TLC did a reasonably good job with my surgery, and I found Dr. V to be nice. While I was waiting I was called into another room for a private consult prior to surgery where I was told I had "big pupils". It was explained that this could create halos around lights and other various things that may or may not affect night vision. I was told this information as I sat in the lounge area waiting with other patients ready to go in..Not exactly a great time to make a life changing decision. I went forward with the procedure, and have had halos and issues with night vision ever since. It gets worse as I age. Secondly, the so called "free" revisions should be classified as false advertising. No such thing exists, at least not for me. I have met the criteria, and have called TLC...and called, and called, and called. They say "the records are in storage in Florida", and tell me to call back in a couple weeks. This went on for several months, until I finally gave up. For my money, and for long term eye health, and good vision, there are better places. read more

I cannot give more positive reviews to Dr. Galler and all of the technicians at TLC Providence. The office is clean and beautiful (there is even snacks and coffee in the waiting area). The staff is friendly and professional. And the results I got after my PRK surgery are incredible. I was seeing 20/400 before surgery (basically off the charts blind). Although people heal very differently, it's only been five days out and I can now see 20/40 in both eyes. The staff told me all of the potential side effects that were to be expected. There was a bit of a rough patch on days three and four, with some "burning" sensation and light sensitivity, but the staff gave me all the supplies and instruction I needed to get throught the healing process and I do not regret the decision. I could definitely give you a long description of how kindly I was treated, how seamless the procedure went, and how they answered all of my questions, but I feel like the other reviews do just that. However, I would recommend booking through Qualsight to save an extra $400. PRK with them was about $5000, but with Qualsight it was $4590. Yes, it's more expensive than Lasik Vision Institute, but these are my eyes and I would trust these guys through and through. read more

From the day I decided to do Lasik to the day I actually did it... TLC was AMAZING!!!! The day of surgery, as soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the most amazing staff. Although you're a bit nervous, they make sure to make it as easy as possible. During the procedure, which was only about 20-30 minutes, the doctor is great. Everyone is speaking to you and keeping you calm, and you don't feel a thing. Bonus, by the next day, I was back at work with kids. I am 3.5 weeks post surgery and my results are amazing!! One day after surgery i had 20/20 vision and a week post op I am now at 20/15! After many years of contemplating getting Lasik, I finally did it! If you are considering getting it done, I say do it! It's been 6 days since I've had it done and I still can't wrap my head around how amazing it is! I chose Dr. Galler from my primary Optometrist's referral. I did my own research and saw all happy and satisfied reviews. I was also very impressed with his background and experience. A personal friend of mine also had Dr. Galler and she was extremely satisfied, so I was sold. He was friendly and very informative. Open to any questions you have and explains the process thoroughly. He was also comforting during the procedure which helped out a lot. If you are fearing the procedure, don't! I don't consider myself very brave when it comes to anything near my eyes. I'll admit I was very nervous going into it. As soon as it started, I instantly relaxed. You only feel slight pressure on your eyes. From beginning to end, it took about 5 minutes and you're done! I walked into the room with my blurry eye sight, and walked out seeing clearly! My first words to Dr. Galler was, "oh my god, I see your face!" The first few hours after the procedure aren't very fun, I'll admit. It feels like something is in your eyes, but it's nothing you can't handle. The next day I saw crystal clear and only had slight dry eyes. Drink plenty of water to hydrate and use your tear drops and you'll be fine. I had no other side effects. I see better than I ever did with contacts or glasses. I would recommend Dr. Galler and TLC to anyone. Don't hold off if you've been wanting Lasik. Just do it! You won't regret it. I went here for a consult a couple of months ago and am still getting the emails which reminded me to write this review. I did not at all like the experience I had. I went in with questions and didn't ever get full answers. So I arrived at my appointment and waited to be seen. The nurse-like person performed a number of test which she kept getting frustrated with me because I would blink. That's what happens when you are at the end of the work day after looking at the computer. Not much I could do about that but she could have been less rude. Finally I see the doctor and ask questions specifically about my dry eye and night vision. I have a very good optometrist who said I had large pupils and that I may want to consider PRK so I have less night vision side effects. The Laser Center doctor brushed it off and said he was the expert and I didn't need to look at alternatives. No explanation or anything just that I was wrong for listening to my doctor. He even said (paraphrased) that I wouldn't not do LASIK if you're giving me your money. I felt like it was a for profit procedure. I definitely didn't feel comfortable thinking that he was going to cut my eye open. Vision is far too valuable to mess around with and not have a wonderful surgeon. read more

They changed my life (for the better). From the referral day to the PRK surgery day, it all took 3 weeks. The TLC staff took multiple scans of my eyes to be sure that I was eligible. My very near-sighted eyes were -9 and -8.5 when I went in and during my second post-op appointment, I tested at 20/20 vision. This was post-op day 5. I have never had 20/20 vision and I am well into my 40s. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. It's a relaxing, calming staff. They were always ready to help me and answer my questions (via. phone and email). What was amazing to me was that this life-changing procedure took about 15 minutes to complete on both eyes, same day. I was awake, nervous. But, there was no real pain. Days 2-3 post-op, I had itchy-gritty eye which was alleviated by the good meds. they prescribed. Life = CHANGED! read more

I just had my LASIK surgery done this past week and am already soo thrilled with my results! This clinic is the perfect combination of knowledge and comfort. Dr. Galler has been performing LASIK since 1995 and his expertise truly shines. He was very thorough with my consultation exam and took the time to really answer any questions I had. As for the staff, they are one in a million! Kayla, Stephanie and Jeri were so accommodating and friendly, they made me feel so comfortable during my whole procedure. A few hours after my procedure, Jeri called me and made sure that I was doing well. Very sweet of her! All in all, I recommend TLC in Providence if you have ever considered LASIK. I had lasik a little over a week ago and I am SO HAPPY with the results. Dr. Galler has a ton of experience and came very highly recommended by my eye doctor and friends. Admittedly I was terrified to go through the procedure but in hindsight it was one of the least traumatic experiences ever. I don't think I was in the operating room for more than 20 minutes- and that includes the prep time. The longest part of the whole experience was the most extensive eye exam I've ever had in my life. Dr. Galler made sure he had the absolutely most accurate prescription for me before doing the surgery. The surgery was completely painless. Once it was finished, they had me look at a clock on the wall and read them the time. It was such an incredible experience! Although it was cloudy- a temporary side effect- I could actually see without wearing contacts or glasses. They sent me home and said to take a nap and they'd call to check in on me in a few hours. The ride home, my eyes were stinging and sensitive to light. It was no worse than getting shampoo in your eyes so I didn't want to open them for a while. After a nap of about 2 hours, I woke up with no pain and probably 90% of the cloudiness gone. My eyes just felt like they do at the end of the day when my contacts are getting a bit dry. And the only cloudiness left was a little bit of halo effect around bright LED lights. Other than that, my vision was just as good as when I wore glasses or contacts. The next day my eyes didn't feel like I had anything done to them at all and the cloudiness was extremely mild. I passed the 20/20 vision test at my follow up eye exam and everything was healing well. It was incredible! 2 days later I noticed that I wasn't seeing any halos anymore and later that night I realized that I was able to read the scrolling sports ticker at the bottom of a tv in a bar from all the way across the room- something I could NEVER do with glasses or contacts! My vision is sharper than ever! I'm so happy with the results. A few things to consider.. you do need to buy some antibiotic eye drops, steroid eye drops, and artificial tears. The antibiotics and steroids require a prescription and even with my healthcare they cost me $80. The pharmacist said there was another brand that was cheaper but unfortunately I procrastinated and didn't have enough time to call the Dr to see about getting the other prescription. The artificial tears are about $30 over the counter for 60 viles. I wasn't expecting the tiny bottles of eye drops to cost that much. The worst thing about the whole experience was the following week of using those drops. You can taste the steroid drops about 10 minutes after using them. Gross right? Extremely minor compared to the ability to see clearly. You also have to tape some eye shields over your eyes while you sleep for the first week and the medical tape they provided left extremely sticky residue on my skin so make sure you have something to help get that off in the mornings. Again, if those are the only bad things about the whole experience it's nothing to complain about at all. read more

TLL in Providence has been amazing throughout my entire lasik experience. Previously I had a consult with another lasik center and felt very much like I was on an assembly line. Not so at TLC. I got individual attention every time I was in. Everyone always remembered me, and I felt extremely taken care of. I also felt extra reassured because Dr. Galler is a corneal specialist, which you do not have to be in order to perform lasik. He is also on the conservative side, so if you aren't a good candidate you will get turned away. All of those things made me feel very comfortable that I was in good hands. I had PRK surgery there. It was a pretty scary ordeal but it went wonderfully. The surgeon, Dr. Galler, is extremely conscientious and conservative. Other surgeons would have considered LASIK for me, but he went with this procedure which I must thoroughly endorse - though the recovery is longer PRK is less invasive, a great surgeon and staff - and now I can wrest an evening gown with no glasses! read more

This is one of the fanciest eye care facility I've been to. They have some of the best equipments and the employees were very friendly, but their LASIK surgery will cost you an arm and a leg. I went to three different places for my LASIK consults and they were the most expensive one. Needless to say, I didn't get my surgery done here, but I think anyone who wants to pay more than $5,000 for their LASIK procedure should go to TLC. They made me feel very comfortable. read more

This review is of my entire experience. It is lengthy, only because I wish I had this information before my surgery and I hope it will help others. I had LASIK by Dr. Galler 2 days ago. My consult was about an hour and a half long. It included quite a few tests, including an eye exam to assess your prescription. This was best eye exam I've had in my life. I always found it very frustrating choosing between 1 or 2, than 3 or 4 repeatedly. He does not let you fail during this exam, and he clearly states that he is there to help you. Also during this exam he goes over some of the tests that you previously went through, including the map of your cornea. At this time he suggested I get PRK (for those who have a thinner cornea), however it may change the longer I have my contacts out. He is conservative in the manner that he does not want his patients to fail, so he suggested I do one eye at a time in case I had a hard time healing after the surgery. He did agree to doing both of my eyes, but only if I was able to speak with my supervisor on the complications that I may have with healing. Though PRK is a wonderful choice, especially for those who do not want a flap, it is not an easy recovery and some people take weeks to heal. On surgery day I went through all the same tests, including going over my prescription again. Dr. Galler's staff was extremely thorough with each test to make sure surgery would be as accurate as possible. During my eye exam Dr. Galler stated that I now qualified for LASIK, so I decided to go this route. In my experience the surgery was a breeze. They give you a Valium before you enter the surgery room. As you are relaxing they go over all the drops you will need for the next week or so. When you enter the surgery room they have you sit down on the table. I had a slight astigmatism so they had to numb my eyes and draw in sharpie to indicate so. It's awkward as someone is coming toward your eye, but you do not feel a thing. They then have you lie down, give you a teddy bear to squeeze, and put a blanket over you so you stay comfortable. Here you get more drops, and then one of your eyes gets taped shut. He tapes your other eyelids open, puts the plastic piece over your eye that helps keep it open (you don't even feel or see this). When the machine that creates the flap is applied you feel nothing but pressure, like pushing your fingers on your eye. I can only assume that those that feel pain from this are people who are either extremely sensitive or very dramatic. You briefly lose your vision from this, which is completely normal. Once your flaps are made you are then rolled over to the actual laser that fixes your prescription. This was a little tough as I'm light sensitive. This is my ONLY "complaint." The laser has a green light in which you stare at, surrounded by red lights and bright white lights. Again, you do not even feel a thing. Once your prescription is fixed you can see through a fog his surgical tools moving the flap back. At this point you are okay with him touching you, you still cannot feel a thing, and you just want your eyesight perfected so it's easy to stay still for this. Once done your eyesight is foggy. Much like when you get out of a chlorine pool. Everything is clear though. He has you sit up and tell him the time on the wall and you are officially all done! I don't think I was in the room for even 20 minutes. Before surgery my eyesight was 20/400. At my follow-up the next day my left eye was 20/20 and my right was 20/15! I now see better than I did with contacts. And to think, you are only at 90% within the first day! All the cloudiness was gone the next day, and decreased the night before dramatically as I kept up with my drops. The next day your eyes are extremely dry, much like an old contact. This also subsided the more I used my drops. I have no complaints about this vision center. It was very clean, and you will not find a more honest doctor. He did not fail to give me any information, and he did not promise anything as to what I would feel or experience as every person has a different experience. He stated over and over again that everyone is different. If you come across a doctor that promises you won't feel a thing, or you will be absolutely fine the next day (especially if you are looking into PRK), run because they are lying. The staff here was just as amazing, and just as honest. I was catered to, and they were prompt on calling me the night of surgery for a post follow-up. Only suggestions: -Keep your contacts out for a good week before your consult. They change the shape of your eye. I had a lot of anxiety over the idea of PRK, which could have been prevented if I had kept them out sooner. -Take the next day off from work. Though you will be able to see, your eyes get tired extremely easy as they are still healing. -Go outside the day after surgery and just look at the landscape. You will see colors in ways you never have before. read more

I had been hesitated doing LASIK for many many years despite of plenty encouragement from friends and relatives. However the moment I finished the free consultation at TLC Laser Eye Center, I finally felt comfortable enough to go for it. I am very happy with the result with minimum discomfort right after the procedure. So I had to constantly remind myself to stick to the post-op care because i felt almost nothing. Dr. Galler is definitely the one you can trust with the important procedure with his expertise and steady hands. He is focused, attentive, and reassuring during the procedure and the whole thing was done so quickly! Dr Brown's detail examinations and explanations put my mind at ease throughout the pre-op and post-op follow ups. Finally the whole staff, especially Gerri and Cat, are outstanding and genuinely caring for everyone walk through the door. It's a huge life changer not to look for glasses anymore.
