I have a…read morehistory of retinal detachment and chronic dry eye, so eye appointments usually come with a lot of anxiety for me, but from the moment she walked in she made me feel completely at ease. She took her time, really listened, and explained everything in a way that was clear, calm, and genuinely reassuring. I never once felt rushed, and it felt more like talking to someone who truly cared than just a routine appointment. Her attention to detail and level of concern were above and beyond what I expected, and I left feeling relieved, confident, and honestly just so grateful to have found her. The staff was just as wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive the entire visit, which made the whole experience even better. I truly hope Dr. Herald can be my eye doctor for life because doctors like her are rare, and if you have any eye concerns, especially anything complex, you could not be in better hands! Can't wait to recommend her to all my family and friends. A+++

Dr. Herald will always have a special place in my heart. I booked an eye exam and she came to my home with her new and fancy portable eye equipment -- all in one bag. She completed a very thorough exam and gave me back the pleasures of working comfortably on both my computer as well as prescribe another pair of glasses so I can now see my family and friends clearly at gatherings. Dr. Herald is a special light in the world, and I think we all know that it is rare and wonderful to meet someone who considers their profession to be a "calling." The quality of her care is inspiring. My comprehensive exam tested my field of vision, checked me for glaucoma, measured eye pressure, evaluated me as to cataracts -- and gave me back peace of mind after so many years I was forced to neglect my eye health. As far as I know, Fall River Vision is the only company in MA and RI to come to patients' homes for eye exams and prescription glasses. I feel so lucky to be a patient now under the care of Fall River Vision and the warm office team that worked with me to get me back on track and to be able to take such joy in eye health once again.

Over the years, my opinions on this matter have changed completely. What I wouldn't give to have 20/20 vision and see the world with crystal clear clarity, without the help of my industrial strength contact lenses (when I take them out, the world becomes one big Monet painting). Luckily, I have the very best ophthalmologist, Iman Ali, in whom I've placed complete trust to keep my peepers healthy and bright since 2005. At that time, I traveled the 45 minutes from my apartment in Quincy, MA to see her in Fall River. Eight years later, I still travel to see her, forsaking many other qualified ophthalmologists in Providence. For my first appointment, she had her work cut out for her: I was fresh from a major car accident during which I'd suffered eye injuries that made wearing my traditional contacts extremely uncomfortable. She was patient, caring, and so confident that I could keep wearing contacts (by the time I reached my twenties vanity had sunken in, and I no longer agreed with my seven year old self that glasses were a badge of honor). She knew instinctively how to care for a young woman who'd suffered a physical and emotional trauma, and with her help, my eyes - and my overall well being - improved. Today, there's barely any remnant of the original injury, and my prescription has, against all odds, grown lighter in strength. Other fantastic details that make Dr. Ali's practice, Total Eye Care, an excellent choice include: a friendly front desk staff (who in all these years have remained intact - I mean, no discernible turnover. This speaks volumes!); a charming little coffee shop in the main lobby before you enter the office; and for those who DO still think that glasses are a true fashion statement, a huge range of high end designer eyewear, including gorgeous prescription sunglasses. If I still liked wearing specs, I'd have no shortage of luxe and lovely options. Dr. Ali is - to coin a well worn phrase - the very best in the business. She's so smart, so sophisticated, and so easy to talk to. She's Brown University educated, NYC trained (where she gained incredible experience working on patients suffering from eye issues in the wake of 9/11), and superbly suited to a practice in an area like The Riv, where folks really appreciate a doctor who remembers all sorts of things about you: little facts that might date back years. While she's thoroughly modern, hers is the type of practice that hearkens back to the physician practices of old, which were built on a strong sense of family, where all generations went to the same doctor -- and that doctor inquired after one's parents, as the pediatric patients matured into adulthood. This makes my annual eye appointment feel like coming home, in the best way!

The front desk staff have varied over the years, and sadly, the last batch appears to have been misplaced: They collectively (and individually) have the personality and dispassionate guest-relations skills of stereotypical DMV workers. No more warm, smiling genuine greetings upon entering the office :( It seems like since they remodeled the office, the friendly front desk staff disappeared. I've tried to engage in a warm connection with this new batch of grumpy greeters, but got the bored look of a gen z (or is it y? I dunno...) looking at 'this smiling old lady' who wants to make friends? I wouldn't be surprised if they rolled their eyes at me once I turned my back. I recommend mixing it up and also hiring mature font desk folks who've lived and seen a little life, who understand and appreciate the customer service includes exuding warmth & compassion and a true interest in the patients who spend their money there. I would not encourage anyone to purchase their glasses at this establishment, because the staff is seemingly not trained in sizing frames to the face. They don't appear to know how progressive lenses need to be fitted to the eyes/face, and they are definitely not skilled at adjusting the newly arrived pair of glasses to the ears and nose - I know because all three of them made the attempt and did NOT give me glasses that function the way they should. I have to use my hands to lift my glasses up so I can see things on my laptop. Sadly, It felt like once they receive payment, there's not much incentive to provide a functioning product? Hundreds of dollars down the drain.... During my short time in the room with the Doc, I mentioned the problem with my glasses, but just got a disinterested 'Hum' in response... She was already on to other things....
