At first, I was hesitant to come here and was about to leave and find another place, but It was getting late so I headed back just in time for my appointment. Didn't look like a normal doctor's office. Since it was inside a mall. I was like nope.... They took my appointment in at the very last minute, every other place were supposedly "full". Staff were very friendly and very professional. Adrian was very nice and also professional. Answered all of my questions and concerns. And for only $40, not sure why I'm wasting $200 a month on "ObamaCare" since it doesn't pay for anything. Place looked busy but they managed to get to me at my scheduled appointment. I'm always a bit wary of places with 5 star reviews. However, I was able to get a Saturday appointment pretty easily, which was great. I was a bit apprehensive because I haven't had the best experiences with Vietnamese places in the area. Also, I'm hesitant to drive down Bolsa at any given time, but......I was desperate for a contact lens prescription before my vision benefits kick in next month. When I walked into the shop (located on the 1st floor of Asian Garden Mall, the back entrance), his wife greeted me and helped direct me to the front of the store to be helped. All subsequent interactions I had with people in the store were friendly and professional. Dr.Nguyen was knowledgeable, warm, honest, and patient. Bedside manners were great, he took the time to answer all my questions thoroughly in understandable terms, and didn't rush me through my examination. He still gave me encouraging responses even though I'm pretty sure I failed every line I read. What I LOVE is that he explains everything, addressed all my concerns, and went over my diagnostic test results with me. Prices are also super competitive (one of the cheapest I found in the area) --- $40 for an eye exam, $70 for a contact lens exam, $80 if you have astigmatism (dang, genetics). I did my research. I work in health care so I'm telling ya.....these are good prices. Basically, it's everything you could ask for when seeking health services --- accessible, affordable, caring and professional provider. Sure, the parking lot is horrendous, but if you're willing to walk and avoid the horrible jams, I saw a bunch of open spots towards the back. read more

My regular optometrist was booked out for the week so I really needed a doctor to prescribe me antibiotic eye drops. I came here because they had an opening and they charged me $180 on top of the medicated eye drops for the SHORTEST 5 minute appointment ever. And they weren't even thorough. They also told me to come back after a week for a check up after I have been applying the eye drops and wanted to charge me again for that visit. DO NOT go here they just want to strip you of your money and the workers aren't even hospitable or thorough. read more

I came to this place because of the great reviews on yelp. Its true what the yelpers have stated: the optometrists is extremely friendly and helpful. I can feel like he is honest, hard working and wants the best for his patients. He educated me on my medications and possible implications of side effects... and how it correlates with eye sight. He is the first optometrist to have every addressed this problem to me. I truly appreicate it. He has a bundle of knowledge and really update to date. I was really impressed. I marked a star off because I was turned off with the receptionist. It was so diffcult for me to understanf the pricing of the contacts per boxing. I asked if i could have a copy of the pricing and she resisted to give me it. It was off-putting that she couldnt explain the prices per box. The pro is theres a check in price reduction and rebate for the contacts. I am not sure how much I am really saving because I havent commpared the cost to other optometry offices. read more

Very bad service. Have my glasses done here, they claimed my glasses will arrive in 7-14 days but 3 weeks later i havent heard anything from them. I kept calling them like 3, 4 times but they kept blamming on lab. Today i called them and the one who answered my phone said that the lab sent out my glasses on Monday but they didn't arrive yet but i heard another girl's voice said that it already arrived? They don't really know the status of their products so they just said they don't receive it yet without double checking again? And I came to the store to pick up my glasses and the girl said "your glasses should have been finished in 1-2 months" Oh my god? Why you claimed you can make it in 7-14 days at first and now they say it to abdicate responsibility or show to me that they did their best in the fastest way to done my glasses? Day four from Eye Smart Optometry's GRAND OPENING. YAY!! WELCOME TO YELP! Let's begin, As an optician, I have this uncontrollable habit to walk into every optometry offices or any eyeglass/sunglasses stores just to browse and maybe try a few fun frames on. Upon entering the store, my boyf and I were greeted by the staff and told about the the grand opening promotion going on. 30% off all sunglasses and eyewear. $30 comprehensive eye exams for 30 days. I was browsing around and was very impressed with the selection of frame. Eye Smart Optometry has all the latest styles, trends, colors, brands, you name it ! Brand names varies from Juicy, Tory Burch and Ray Bans for the youngn', Lacoste and Oakleys for men, Gucci, Prada, Versace, Tiffanys for women, and the list goes on. Another thing that caught my eye was the European/Denmark brand they carry, very fun and colorful. I appreciate that many of the frames were not your typical boring black/tortoise shades but had many colors (purple, blues, reds) and styles (ombre, oval) and unique aspect to them (check out the Prada's and you'll know what I mean). Jenny was such a doll. She was helpful and so fun to shop with, I felt so at ease, as if I was shopping with one of my best friends. She gave honest opinions on which frame looked nicer or what suited me best. For EVERY frame I tried on and touched, she gave me the discounted price on the spot. When I was up at the register purchasing my new Tiffany&Co. ophthalmic frame, I noticed copies of their price list sitting out for patients to see. Let me just say, the prices for lenses here are RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP !! Of the hundreds of optometry offices I've been to, NOT ONCE have I ever seen a price sheet of all the lenses and options out on display for the general public to see. Which definitely shows they have nothing to hide. Brownie points, I was VERY impressed. I didn't however see Dr. Nguyen because I already had my eyes checked just a few weeks ago. I've been going to Dr. Andrian Nguyen for years and was so happy to hear that he opened his own shop! The office is located in the back of Asian Garden Mall. His staff is very helpful with getting the paperwork processed and with picking out glasses that fit your face. I appreciate that Dr. Nguyen gives me friendly, honest input on how I should take care of my eyes, contacts and glasses. He always gives me useful information every time I see him. His exams are reasonably priced and there is a good selection of eyeglass frames to choose from, including plenty of sunglasses. The turnaround time for picking up glasses and contacts is very fast! If you come on a weekend, I recommend seeing him before noon, before the lunch crowd. He also accepts VSP, so no need to show up with any VSP paperwork! Just got my eyes checked by Dr. Andrian Nguyen... my new optometrist! It's a new place, they just opened last month. The place is clean and very bright... very refreshing hues of orange and blue going throughout the office. I just came for a basic eye exam for contacts. Didn't have any wait time. The staff was super friendly, as well as Dr. Nguyen who answered all my questions. I came in at 12pm, filled out the paperwork really quickly, got my eyes checked, tried on trial contacts, got my eyes dilated (never had that done before... why hasn't my old optometrist done this if it's standard of care?!), and I was out of there before 1pm. There was a bit of casual chit chat during the exam with the doctor too, to help put me at ease and feel more comfortable. He's really nice, easy to approach, and of course, very knowledgeable and professional. They take VSP insurance, which was the main reason I was there instead of my old optometrist (who doesn't take my new insurance). But if for any reason I don't have my vision insurance anymore and go back to being a cash patient, I'd still come back to Eye Smart for my regular check-up. Their cash prices are fair and the staff and doctor are excellent! Couldn't help but notice the doctor's diplomas hanging up on the wall by the reception desk. College degree at UCLA and optometry at Berkeley. I can't help but feel a little biased and support the bruins! read more

That type of excellence begins with Dr. Andrian Nguyen--a Berkeley graduate, who is professional, efficient, friendly, and cognizant of all things involved with the eye. Not only that, he emphasizes affordable care, ensuring that each patient gets what they need by spending as little as possible. His awesome Yelp deal of $100 for $75 certainly helps too! Dr. Nguyen's wonderful bilingual speaking staff can't be dismissed either--they were quick to help and amiable to any questions. An eye exam for contacts is $70, but if you have an astigmatism, the exam will be $80. (astigmatism is when your corneas have an irregular shape--mine are supposedly football shaped...Go Seahawks! Lol) A box of contacts that'll have 4 pairs each will cost from $25-50 depending on the brand. My astigmatism contacts were $45 each box. Combine that with the yelp deal to save even more money! ---- Conclusion: As poor college students, all we look for is good, friendly healthcare that's affordable and fast. You'll receive this type of attention once you enter Eye Smart Optometry. In addition to that, they have a huge selection of glasses and sunglasses too! My usual eye doctor is at Myoptics in Bolsa--and they're fantastic, 5 star worthy as well, but being that it was a Sunday, they were closed. Eye Smart is open 7 days a week. Right when you walk in from the south entrance of the Asian Garden Mall, there's a pop of bright colors and clean cut modernism that stands out from the rest of the traditional mall setting. Yes, it is where that fresh fruit shop used to be, question answered, but it seems that they've completely renovated the lot. Clean wide tiles, welcoming hues of orange and blues and nicely lit display cases for a full experience browsing. What I really like is that there's so much space in here to actually walk and browse comfortably. If you're a little tired or want to sit as you try on various styles of frames, there's some plush little stool or comfy soft chairs for you. Wait, what's this? There's an actual optometry and office in the back of the store! Yes, it is true and Dr. Nguyen was rather patient in helping and explaining his services. They're pretty cool for speaking multiple languages, English for the youngsters and Vietnamese to the more typical clientele in this location. They advertised Spanish as well and yes he can speak Spanish too, far far better than my 3 years of high school classes could comprehend. Very versatile in the staff as well, with someone to cater to the needs of different clients. They've very recently opened, around the Lunar New Years and currently have a special promotion for the month. For one, $30 for an eye exam, and two, 30% off the entire store....hmm tempting. For brands, they carry Juicy Couture and Tiffany's, enough said. Okay okay there's other brands and a men's section too. I watched my cousin ridiculously pose in front of the mirror with a bunch Ray Bans and I know my uncle likes their Prada. The front may be sunglasses but go further in and you''ll find frames for prescriptions and such. Oh and their kids section is so adorable! i stumbled upon this place after the leaving the night market! What a hidden gem! I came in really late in the evening on Saturday and Jenny was super friendly helpful. The next morning (Sunday) I bought my glasses and got them on by Tuesday! The selection of glasses range from high to low. They have a lot of the new updated models from a lot of different high end brands and also have the standard glasses if you don't want to spend too much. Overall, my experience was exceeded my expectations. This place isn't like other Asian places that are unfriendly. I came in contact with a total of 4 staff members and all were very professional and very caring. Price is fair and I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family! So I found this deal on Yelp, $35 for a basic eye exam and was a little hesitant because it was so cheap but it ended up being one of the best customer services I have ever had. There was no wait, we just kind of walked in without an appointment and signed papers and after that was seen by the doctor. The doctor was so nice and took his time on the exam. He was very helpful from the start of the exam to when we left. To those who might be hesitant because its located in the Asian Mall where they mostly speak Vietnamese, don't worry. They speak very well English and are so helpful. This will def be our new eye doctor! read more

Dr Andrian was super friendly. He's welcoming and very humble. I didn't make an appointment a walk in instead. It was towards closing so I didn't have to wait long. The process did not take long at all. I filled out my paperwork and did my exam. He guided me through everything and answered all of my questions. The examination took a bit longer than my old place ... But that's a good thing because he actually took the time to ensure that my prescription is accurate. Where as my old dr just wanted me in and out of there as quickly as possible I only had the chance to talk to one of the staff members and he was friendly and helpful as well. He made small talk while he was getting my paperwork and bill ready so the process went a lot quicker and less awkward (awkward silence). I was really skeptical because I dislike going to Asian doctors. 99% of the time they are rude especially to people in their 20s like me. I figured I'd give them a call and ask how my VSP works. They answered everything and much more about my coverage. Few days later I came in and got my eye exam. I was literally in there for 30 minutes. I was skeptical because it was located in the Asian Garden Mall (which I hate going to and haven't been in 4 years literally NOTHING has changed how sad). Everyone was nice and everything was clean!! I love LOVED that they had their own bathroom and that, yes, it was CLEAN. I still am very skeptical to go to Asian doctors for anything, but this is one exception. read more

I had to stop by and get a pair of sunglasses for my girlfriend to celebrate our two year anniversary. The staff told me ahead of time to bring in a pair of her current glasses, but I unfortunately forgot. Luckily, they asked for pictures of her in sunglasses to approximate what would work. I browsed the store freely without feeling overlooked by anyone there searching for the perfect pair. Once chosen, they laid it all out in front of me and brought in a few extra pairs that offered alternatives to what I had chosen. The optician came by and described how the frames can also be adjusted to fit my girlfriend in case it was too wide or too narrow. Overall, the experience was smooth and easy. Plus they had good pricing on some very expensive sunglasses worn by the glam and glitz crowd. [I ended up getting my girlfriend a pair of Jimmy Choo's.] I'm not entirely sure which actress is wearing that pair, but it was legitimate and stylish enough to make her happy. I've had wonderful experiences with Eye Smart! I was able to make an appointment in the same day for a contact lens exam. Without insurance, the cost was $70 for a quick 30 minute exam. Dr. Nguyen checked my vision first with my contacts, then again without. He also checked visual acuity and eye pressure with the machines. After he established my prescription, he gave me new contacts to try and a contact lens case and solution to hold my old contacts in since I had only been wearing them for 4 hours. He also explained everything that he was doing, and he cares about what's most comfortable too! My vision got worse by 0.5 but he suggested only moving my prescription 0.25 because that big a change can cause headaches and discomfort. I appreciated that he gave me that option and let me know what to expect! All over great service. This is my go to place for eye exams! read more
