I had a frustrating experience at this location today. According to the hours listed on the app, the gate, and the office door, the facility closes at 7:00 PM on weekdays. I arrived today (Wednesday) at around 6:47 PM, thinking I was still within the posted hours. I only needed to quickly purchase a box and access my storage for a few small items I even mentioned I would be in and out. However, the employee on duty a white male, late 40s, who rides a motorcycle and was handling closing told me they were already closed and that access ends at 6:45 PM. He refused to allow me access to my storage unit. The only thing he did allow was for me to purchase a box, and even then, I was told I could only pay with a debit card because the registers were already closed. If access actually ends at 6:45 PM, then the hours should reflect that everywhere (app, gate, and office door). It's frustrating and misleading for customers to show up within posted hours and be denied access. I understand people want to wrap up their workday, but consistency matters. I'm hoping this gets addressed so other customers don't run into the same issue. read more

December 30, 2024 I received this injury due to this protruding foot-long piece of metal Sticking from the wall around a blind corner. I asked for a Band-Aid in the front office, and was scoffed at. "We don't give customers bandaids. Do you think we're a Pharmacy?" I had to go to the emergency room, Had to get a tetanus shot, Had to go on antibiotics, missed two weeks of work, and now six weeks later have a lifelong scar. Extra Space storage? Unfortunately, my experience is yet another example of how the storage industry takes advantage of its customers. First, the amount and the rate at which the monthly rent changes are absurd. The storage landlords claim its based on the "market" value. Yet they offer limited promotions with an expiration. Thought details are listed in the lease, GOOD customer service would either send tenant a notification (which has been done in the past) that the monthly rate will increase (to the market value) or explain it clearly upon move-in that the monthly rate will increase on a specific date to new (absurd) amount based on market value. These documents are cumbersome. They know it. We know it. It's just GOOD customer service to help each other out. This storage facility failed to do both. Yes, I signed the lease but if they can walk me to my unit and they can explain some of the fine print impacting cost. read more

My storage rent went up 50% after only a few months with no notice. It was a bait and switch because I was brought in on a good discount price. I checked my emails and there was NO NOTICE about a change in rental price. Jumping from $161 to $241 a month after 3 months is ridiculous!! I've never had a storage place raise the rent earlier than a year, and I have it on autopay to get a discount, so I didn't notice the first month. This is a really shady business practice. Be careful everyone as this place is shady. They threw my sister's personal security docs away which is pretty gross behavior. They don't care about people, only money. They auctioned off all her personal belongings 2 weeks early even though their rules say 30 day cushion. She had a missed payment because of auto pay issues. These so called people had a backup card they never used. I live minutes away and was listed as emergency contact...never reached out to me as I would have paid or picked up her stuff. Pictures, guitar, her sewing machine from a hard earned biz. Basically her whole life was tossed cuz they have no ethics. It's just a scam to make money. They had no right to keep the extra money they made well over the month she missed. Pretty disturbing behavior. How dare they do this to someone. Hidden in their agreement is that they can (and do) raise your rent at any time. 2. After ONE MONTH at the advertised rate that I signed up for ($167/mo) they raised it by 50%!!! 3. Without notice!!! 4. Only when I called them on this did they agree to a PARTIAL refund, and would not guarantee future increases would not happen. They will always use the same language: "From time to time customers may be subject to a rent increase due to the competitive blah blah blah." There's no "time to time" about it. They will IMMEDIATELY AND SUBSTANTIALLY GOUGE YOU after you sign up. This *IS* their business model. read more

Bed bugs, BED Bugs, BED BUGS!!! They don't even CARE! It's just busine$$ As usual... I've been with this Olympic Blvd location for over two years. (Just when Covid began). It was initially a good experience. So much has CHANGED since then including poor or no management, an extreme rate hike (doubled) and most importantly poor maintenance (extermination, BED BUGS etc...) !!! During my time here there would be unexplained "unforeseen circumstances" closures that you wouldn't be able to get you belongings for days. I'm now coming to realize this was possibly because it was infected by pest issues! I just hadn't been a victim yet! Every time I went in I'd see spiders everywhere in the office. They wouldn't even try to clean the webs in the corner but to get BED BUGS was a complete surprise. Another patron just told me about ANTS as well they experienced. I was told "I'm sorry" and given some bags to wrap my belongings in when relocating to another unit. A week goes by with no one (as I requested) addressing what occurred by management . A temporary Mgr named Ricky tries to assist after seeing him on the site, only to call and suggest I file a claim for my many lost belongings to then moments later "email" that with an unfortunate apology. He made a mistake... since I didn't have insurance I can't even file a claim! (See pic of email, etc...) So I'm at a complete loss and in another unit with potentially more loss since I don't know for certain my belongings are CLEAR and could still end up exposing other units in this facility if NOT! I can't risk transporting or donating etc... I can ONLY discard my items, 20 yrs of memorabilia from acting etc... so not to EXPOSE myself further or anyone else! Note : I had not brought anything new into my unit! I was not the cause. In fact, I was trying to minimize what I did have left but not like this! ***Did they find the SOURCE of the BED BUGS? Are they making other tenants aware? The unit I moved out of has a NEW tenant ALREADY! (See pic w/ new lock on it.) It's not even been a good week. WARNING: DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! If you need storage, do not store your belongings here. My unit was broken into multiple times. The Management did nothing to solve this ongoing problem and said they were not responsible. I had to secure my own doors so they couldn't just be pulled open. Instead, they just cut the units locking hasp off with a hacksaw or grinder. The many cameras they say they have don't work. They have many homeless people living in the units but do nothing about it and tell you they're not there. They had water intrusion into my unit and said nothing about it. I was almost attacked by the homeless man staying in the unit across from me. read more

My experience was fine until I received an unauthorized increased charge on my credit card and they insisted I'd been mailed a rate increase letter. I never received anything or I would have cancelled my space immediately as it felt a bit over priced at $239/month for my needs and it was certainly way overpriced at $339/month. I was shocked they'd think a customer would be okay with a surprise increase of $1200/yr, especially when there are tons of local storage spots with competitive pricing. Apparently, this is common practice according to several other customers who mentioned it took them by surprise as well. The facility itself was fine for my storage needs, but it certainly is not somewhere I'd pay $1200/year more than I signed up for...especially without notice. I am still waiting on a $269 retroactive refund promised by Adrian the manager when I moved out over a week ago. I hope that actually happens as it's a total waste of money to be paying for space I no longer have access to (by choice) due to it being overpriced and a case of bait-and-switch. They'll hook you in with their "flash sales" which currently show on their website...and then let you know in a few months that they have to increase pricing in order to keep the facility up to standards. That is the response I got when I reached out to customer service for an explanation. No one cared at all about losing a customer who was easy and barely used the facility so just be sure to ask about pricing if/when you decide to be a customer here. read more

My biggest complaint is a drastic price increase 4 months in. I had my things in an Extra Space storage unit for 5 months and after my 5th billing cycle, I noticed that I was billed for $80 more than what I had signed up for. Since I had not received notice, I called customer service assuming there was a mistake and there was not. Apparently you can expect the price to increase every 4 months, which if it was by a more reasonable amount, fine I wouldn't complain, but my cost increased by almost 50%! I was told that a notice was sent, but I never received it; I asked if it was possible to get online notices in the future and was told no, because they need to come from corporate? Strange considering I get other emails from them and they have an online portal. The person I talked to was very nice and was able to adjust the price down a bit, but it was still $40 higher than the original rate and I did not get an adjustment l for the previous month paid with auto pay. This is my second bait and switch experience with a storage facility and it's disappointing. The facility itself is fairly nice, it has a digital code entry both to the parking area and to get into the building. It's a pretty long building and there is only one door and one elevator and my unit was one of the farthest from it, so it was a huge pain to bring things to and from. They do have wheeled carts which help a lot. There was no light in the unit and I had to buy my own lock. My unit was also an L shape, which I didn't know until I moved in. read more

I moved into the facility 3 months ago at a rate of $222. Today I get a notice that as of next month my new rate is $266. I can go online and change to another unit the same size in the same facility for $222. That is crazy! Bait and switch. How can this even be legal? How does this place have 5 stars? How many of these reviews have they paid for? My unit has never been broken into, and my stuff hasn't been damaged. Those are the bare minimum for a storage place, and these are the only two positive things about this facility. - I've literally never been able to use a cart here. I just threw my back out hauling 50 lb boxes to my unit bc there aren't enough carts, and they allow people to use as many as they want. - They raise the rent every time they can. I think it's $20 increase every 6 months. This is disgusting. They're not offering more or better services, so why are they raising the rent?? - There used to be people living in this facility. I had to ask management about the bottles of urine I would find everywhere. It seems that the problem has ceased, but I've been afraid for my safety here before. If things don't change I'm probably going to move storage places. They know what a pain it is to move storage spaces, and it seems that they count on that keeping their customers there despite the fact that being a customer with them is an awful experience from start to finish. read more

For a second time, our lock was removed and all of our possessions at this place were rifled. They have cameras that ought to reveal the thieves who have gone through our personal papers and possessions, but either the cameras are placebos or they do nothing about it. It's good and for us it was a temporary solution until we move into our new office. Good: -Clean -The elevator looks new -The staff are friendly -The units are sized correctly (when they say a unit is a certain size it is indeed that size-other storage unit places will say something is 5X10 and sometimes it can be 4X7 or another odd size). Bad: -The hallways are super narrow -There are never any carts (I am unsure where they are as I have walked through all the hallways looking for one and never have found one). -The parking lot is a mess (there are always car or vehicles with tarps over them). -I wish there was more than one person working in the office-If the employee is showing units and you have a question you have to wait outside until the person comes back...the times are always undetermined. -On the way out to open the gate you have to get out of your car-punch in the number then jump back in your car...you can't just drive up to the key pad...It is annoying. I wish they had offered me a unit closer to the elevator (mine is pretty far). I was only shown 1 unit and I did see other units available. It's Ok for a temporary solution. read more

Decent facility. Helpful, friendly staff. Two things to note about this particular location: 1. It is NOT temp controlled, meaning, no AC or ventilation. But the units indoors stay fairly cool on their own so you shouldn't have too much of an issue with storing temp sensitive items 2. There are no lights in the individual storage units. You need to bring your own, so be prepared for that if you have a large unit. It's pitch black inside and very hard to see when inside the unit The location is easy to get to, not much inside parking and can get congested when too many people are trying to get in/out at the same time, but very tolerable. There is a ramp up to the entrance door to the units so plan to load/unload at the end of the ramp if you can otherwise it's a bit of a hike Price was reasonable.
