I rented my storage unit in 2015 from Self Storage 1 at this location. My storage unit at the time rented for $165 a month. I paid annually with a regular rent increase of about 3-4% per year. Cube Smart bought the storage facility in October of 2018 and all hell broke loose with significant and frequent rent increases. Now they will no longer allow you to pay more than 2 months in advance. Why? Because this way they will be able to increase your rent at will every 2 months. They just increased my monthly rent 10%!! I am now paying $550 a month for the same unit that I rented back in 2015 for $165 a month! They will lowball you to get you to rent a storage unit and then they aggressively raise your rent every few months. They know people are reluctant to move out to get a cheaper rate elsewhere. Calls to company managers are not returned. There are many storage companies to choose from. Unless you can tolerate hefty increases there are many other reputable storage companies out there with better terms. I am still here but not for too much longer. read more

This is the worst of the very worst places to even set your foot in, none the less store any of your belongings, that is if you ever want to see them again. Odd?! Several people have had their units ransacked. How does that happen? Since it's so secure from the outside. Maybe happens from the inside? It's incredible bad air in there, you get stuffed up and your throat closes in because there's NO ventilation or air circulation. The rent goes up astronomically. It was on one of the hottest days of the year but the office and facility was air conditioned and comfortable. Brendan helped me and was polite and professional. I was very impressed with CubeSmart Self Storage. The facility looks great, is clean & organized and seems to be run like a well-oiled machine. I had the pleasure of being welcomed and walked through the entire process (and multiple units) by the General Manager, Cyrus, whom I must say, was a gentleman and left no stone unturned as he walked me through everything from multiple units to parking/loading areas to paperwork and coverages. I own several storages myself in Texas and am very familiar with the business and the product. That being said, I am quite impressed with this facility and the management. This place leaves a positive first impression. And then, once you've gone through the significant effort to move your belongings, they jack the price of your rental BY ALMOST DOUBLE. Moreover, the gates and elevator BREAK DOWN. We were recently without any access to our unit for over a week. This was more than an inconvenience. Customer service is shaky at best. When we called to inquire about the inability to access our unit and our belongings, the front desk said only the regional manager, Greg, can help. "He won't answer, you must leave a voicemail, and he will call you back. Only once, so you'd better pick up." What kind of business is this?? read more

I just got off the phone to report a fraudulent use of my information, which was taken when my unit was robbed. Three cards were taken out thus far. Here is a scenario for the crime junkies out there; 1. a storage company has in-house insurance that only covers a robbery of a unit if there is a sign of forced entry. 2. They also only permit the use of locks sold in their office. 3. Entry does not appear forced to the robbed units. 4. Supposedly it is secure, but after a robbery, no way is provided to access a recording of the incident; nor does anyone seem to be able to look up who might have accessed that particular floor; when supposedly the access codes only open an particular floor. 5. Items that are left in robbed spaces are blatantly damaged, but again, no forced entry. 6. The unit was clearly professionally robbed because of the waya they slashed open the boxes AND left behind a bit of their own trash for a real kindness in an otherwise very organized unit. 7. The inhouse insurance askes for a valuation that the employees all can see. 8. They also use your card and therefore have access to your card number. 9. They have address and email and phone and ID... And again, for those not tracking it YET; the locks are theirs; the insurance is theirs; the security system is theirs; they know their way around all of the above; and the entry must not appear forced for a dime to be covered. Now they are not only responsible for the loss of my belongings and the supplies I had gathered with funding I had received to start a business, but they also now carry responsibility for my identity being stolen and for damage to my credit report. Branden told the cop who looked at my unit that he had theories about how "they" were getting in... From the reviews, I do not think anything is being done by anyone who works there - or by the cops for that matter - to actually stop "them". read more

I've only been at CubeSmart for a few months however, I'm quite pleased with the security, the price, the closeness of my storage to the elevator, the hours of operation and most importantly Ting the current manager! He's very kind, always keeping the grounds and unit levels tidy, and did me a HUGE favor in letting me use the moving truck! I appreciate that there is only a small usage charge and also appreciate that I got my entire deposit back after returning it. I ended up bringing it back a little later than expected (due to moving by myself) but kept in touch with him along the way. Ting actually waited for me to return it after they closed!! Talk about great customer service :) Needless to say, I was a happy camper. I haven't fully moved out of my storage unit yet but will be vacating soon (revised review to follow after I move out). For many years, my wife rented a large storage space with CubeSmart Self Storage of Los Angeles at 11820 W. Olympic Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90064. After my wife died in July 2023, my son and I visited her storage unit and discovered that it had been broken into, ransacked and anything worth reselling had been stolen. Her unit had supposedly been "protected" by a lock sold to us by CubeSmart. A CubeSmart employee told us that, three months earlier, someone had gained access to the code for entering the building and had picked the CubeSmart locks of several units. No one informed us that this had happened. It goes without saying that we removed everything that remained from my wife's storage unit and will never use CubeSmart again. Came to get my delivery in the holding area during their open posted hours at 3:30 PM on a Saturday only to be met with a "Be back" sign that says they'll be back at 4:00 PM. So aggravating when their hours are already limited and there's a lunch break during normal business hours. read more

Buy good locks and good luck!! Someone broke into my storage at this location God knows when and I was never notified about it, that goes to show how secure this place is. They don't go around checking, if not they would have noticed my lock had been cut. From what I can tell they stole my welders. After almost 7 years being with Self Storage 1 and 2 years of being with Cube Smart it is a difference of night and day. Self STORAGE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. Cube Smart is far from that. Let me make this short. I went in to make a payment with a cashiers check in August and the GM" who is not the sharpest knife in the drawer" had to call the main office to see if he should except it. Now, my personal items in storage was due to be sold on the 18th of this month. I email the GM 4 days prior to the sale asking if the sale could be cancelled due to I was in quarantine in chicago of 7 days. He did nothing but email me his district manager # on the day of the sale. Once I return to Los Angeles, I will pursue this legally. But if you must rent storage space, please find another facility to rent. read more

Quite shocked to see some of the other negative reviews. I have had my unit for over a year and have felt very taken care of as a customer, especially by Ting! All the staff are super nice, my unit is temp controlled, and they always make sure my deliveries are taken care of. As for the homeless people. I have seen someone one or two times near the bathroom, and when I saw the staff walk over I thought they were going to kick the person out, but instead they unlocked the bathroom for the person to use it. Two mins later the homeless person left with no incident. I thought it was really kind. Homeless people aren't animals..they need to use a bathroom too! I've never seen any loitering or hanging out and I've only ever seen maybe 2 people in the last year. It's not like they can get to any storage unit without a code for the elevator either. I thought because they charged more (maybe they most in the area) that you would get amazing service. Nope. Go somewhere cheaper it's all the same. On Christmas Day I came to storage facility and seen a sign that said they were closed because both elevators were broken at the same time. I called the place two times very early in the morning (7 or 8 am) within 2 hours to explain I had to get in there because I had Christmas presents in there and they were for my daughter. They had to have a staircase and understand their would be an emergency that some people would have to get smaller things out. It's been over a week and NO One has returned a call. I filed a complaint with the better business bureau as what am I paying for if I can't get in to get my stuff. read more

This is the first negative review we have ever written. We rented a unit at Cubesmart 11820 W. Olympic Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90064 since Feb 2018, storing my elderly parents' legacy and important belongings. We discovered on July 31, 2023 that our unit was broken into, vandalized, and boxes of specific items stolen. Per LAPD, the unit was probably used for on-going staging for other thefts. We found stranger's stolen items piled inside and drug paraphernalia suitcase and a ladder. The theives pulled apart boxes and re-stacked anything they didn't steal. Cubesmart stated they knew about illegal code access and break in's for at least 3 months and had video of tresspasser. They did not alert customers. They did not report tresspass event or video to the LAPD. We had the Cubesmart disc locks on our units that they sell for "security" reasons. It was picked professionally so that it still worked and was almost undetectable. Cubesmart in W. Los Angeles appears to be very clean, secure, well lit, location. The people are nice. They present what appears to be a sophisticated video system. But it is not secure. There are no cameras on the floors or halls, only at the elevators. They do not make security and safekeeping of belongings a priority. When we went to LAPD to file a report, they stated there was a long list of theft victims from this facility who filed reports, going back even to 2021. We were moving out anyway on July 31, but if ever needed, would not use them again. read more

When I was moving office locations, I knew I'd have a multi-month gap between rentals and needed a safe place to store my business property. Driving down Olympic Blvd., I saw CubeSmart, went in, was greeted, got a free coffee and a tour. I chose a unit on the 2nd floor, which I liked because the elevator ride is shorter, and it also has a cement floor. Upper levels have metal floors. The building is as high-security as you can get without armed guards. There's cameras all over, plus you have to use a code to enter, code to go up elevator, and code to exit. I rented a 10x15 storage, got the first month free (plus $20+ processing), then up to 6 months at a discounted rate. From there it would go up. A couple things to note is that the storage is not open overnight, and the bathrooms are only open during office hours, so plan accordingly. What I loved the most, is that the staff is very helpful, and Ting, the manager will go out of his way to make things smooth for you, including leaving you alone. That is my favorite part about this storage..you can be autonomous. Other renters are nice, and everyone just lets you be. When I needed to move in/out with a large truck that wouldn't fit inside, management showed me how to keep the back parking lot gate open to a secure loading area so that we could load/unload. Simply put, a very smooth experience, and they even provide loading carts and free 4 hour use of a small moving truck if you need it with some small fees attached. Like anything, if you get a quote from them, get it signed and dated in writing. A great experience and I would definitely rent there again. read more

Since Cube Smart has taken over from Self Storage 1 the customer service and billing has gone very bad. With Self Storage 1 i could move out at anytime and they would pro rate me the monthly bill. Now with Cube Smart i was just charged my total monthly rent for 1 day of storage after moving out. I tried speaking to a manager and they said they couldn't do anything about it. The customer service is crap now that cube smart has taken over. I never even received an email about cube smart taking over from Self Storage 1 and they don't even send you your monthly bill! Since then, the security system has been better and the employees are more cooperative than before. Especially I really appreciate Tim about his work.
