Came full circle -- and pleasantly surprised! The only reason this isn't a five-star review is because of my first visit about a year and a half ago. The person who helped me back then was rude and unhelpful, and I left thinking I'd never return. Fast-forward to now: I was in the middle of a move and needed boxes urgently, so I decided to give The Box Depot another try. I'm so glad I did! I was helped by Moises, who completely changed my impression of the store. He was friendly, funny, patient, and went above and beyond -- answering all my questions, helping me find exactly what I needed, and even offering to carry everything to the car. If it weren't for Moises, I never would've gone back -- but because of him, I absolutely will. He's a gem, and I hope he's there every time I visit. I went to Box Depot to buy some specific-sized boxes for some eBay items. After buying boxes I returned after I realized that I couldn't find my tape. Even though I had already printed my label from eBay, the guys offered to box and tape my item and hold it for USPS. I still bought the tape, but the offer and friendliness are appreciated. Was in the area looking around for boxes and shipping supplies since I ship stuff often and this place used to have good stock/unique sizes. One employee after finding out I wasn't looking for something specific yet was kind of rude, another employee preemptively said I couldn't go into the mailbox area while I was looking in the box section because it was employees only. Used to purchase here often, but that was a pretty BS experience. I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

This place is a rip off. I called and asked them how much to print and was told 25 cents per page, and then when I walked all the way there to have something printed they said it was $2 per BLACK AND WHITE page which costs 10 cents everywhere else. Just beware! read more

Who knew there were so many options and sizes for mailers. If you buy 6 or more (I think?), you can get a bulk price on the envelopes/mailers. I'm an indie author and this is where I've been getting my bubble envelopes to send out my poetry book. Friendly staff (depends on the person) and there's a parking lot attached. Welp, I'm def not coming here again. Just now, while waiting for the cashier (he was helpful) to calculate the shipping cost on my package, I started bubble wrapping the item to save time. This short Latinx dude comes up and starts scolding me about how I can't be parked here at the counter and I'm holding up the line etc etc. When I explained I was waiting for my shipping costs to be calculated and I'm not sure what he'd like me to do, he wandered off and continued to mean mug me from a distance. Literally a very straightforward experience to purchase and ship a box got so aggressive and rude for absolutely no reason. Zero stars. I should've gone to the mail store on Larchmont or even Staples or the UPS store-- they have a ton of different boxes and supplies. read more

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! We had 3 paintings that needed to be shipped and these guys had to measure each THREE times. 1st time because the guy wasn't listening to the other guy so he had to do it again, then one more time since he didn't write it down. Then they gave us the wrong sized box... even though they measured it 3 times... they were SLOW and it took them 10 min to read out an address to each once we gave it to them and they kept getting the zip code wrong as we kept repeating it over and over again. Then for the best part, my friend had to respell his name 3x for a 6 letter last name... all in all this took us 30 min to check out only for us to get home with the WRONG SIZED BOXES. They also can't pack sameday so you'll need to come back the next day. read more

They have an amazing selection of boxes, pretty much any size you could need for moving. Prices are mostly under $5/box even for larger size boxes which is nearly half the price you'd pay at the UPS store, etc. The worker was very helpful to me and not pushy. read more

My favorite is that they have kits ready for packing glasses and plates in a safe way and at a reasonable price given what it is. Things are easy to find, well organized, and labeled. Yes, I made a point to come online and write a review for a box store. Why? Because I can't stand how expensive UPS store, the post office are for boxes. I had no idea there were so many options and left up to me, I would've bought a huge one (extra expensive to ship!) and just stuffed it with tissue paper. Instead I told Tommy what was going inside and could we do the math to figure out dimensions? Tommy did the math, found the perfect box and it was like 3 bucks. Everyone was delightful and I was out of there in 2 minutes. I didn't ship with them, I'll probably just do usps (it's nothing fancy or breakable), but as far as selection and help - I was grateful! read more

I have had a mailbox at this place since they first started offering them 7+ years ago. They always get it right. My mail is sorted well and they let me know when new mail comes via text so that I don't waste a trip. They are kind and care about doing a great job for all their customers. I've seen big orders and small orders packed and they take that it's done correctly so that everything arrives safely. Alfredo is so terrific and so is the rest of the team there. Not sure why I keep giving these guys another chance... I guess it's because there's no other box store near me, but I always regret it every time I come here. Not only are they not helpful at all, but now it's gotten to the point where they are even too lazy to do their basic job. Went in to buy several different sized boxes and the same guy that had issue with before (Latin guy with glasses) was too lazy to ring in the boxes himself, and instead made me go through each box separately and read him the dimensions from the boxes (which are clearly marked right there on the boxes) and were placed on the counter, not even 2 feet from him! At first I figured "OK he just wants to expedite things and do it as quickly as possible" but then he made me stop several times to read the dimensions slower, and then again stopped me because he decided he needed to know the quantity of the box 1st, and then the dimensions. Had to laugh when I looked over and saw their poster begging customers to give positive yelp reviews in exchange for a discount...guysits so simple, you'll get WAY more positive reviews if you just have better customer service! read more

Anyone interested in learning where they can get boxes almost 1/2 the price of The Box Dept? The order department is open 24/7 and the delivery is next day! Spoke to the owner and he was " nice" enough however, he made 2 big mistakes in his dialogue with me. BIG MISTAKE #1 - He stated that he NEVER READS YELP REVIEWS. BIG MISTAKE #2 - He listened to my complaint about ALFREDO and then told me that just that day someone had told him/ the owner that Alfredo had done a great job. Do I care about that? NO, I do not, I care about how I was treated when I was at his establishment! When you tell someone that someone else experienced something the opposite, you're discounting the person's experience! NOTE: The owner was not there on the day that ALFREDO acted up, is it any surprise that his workers would be on their " best behavior " with customers when the owner is around? I've been using The Box Depot for the last 7 years for my mailbox service and shipping needs. Alfredo is one of my favorite employees there. Every time I come in for a package, he sees me and welcomes me to the store by name. If the store isn't too busy, he gets my package ready before I even get to the main counter. I love that they send a text message and email informing me of mail and packages arriving. The convenience of that added perk, saves me trouble of coming in when there's no mail. Overall the staff is very knowledgeable about proper shipping setup, especially artwork. They are also super helpful when I call in and need extra assistance. read more

This place grossly overprices shipping fees. I would say at least 3 times of the price you'd pay anywhere else. I had to ship a musical instrument to Hawaii for a repair. While communicating with the store on the island I asked if they knew how much it would cost me to ship it. They said about $40 USPS and $60 FedEx, both prices with insurance on the instrument for its full value. So it was a huge shock when The Box Depot quoted me $330 for UPS (and they said FedEx would be very close to this price as well) and $120 for USPS. And $120 for USPS didn't even include insurance, which they claimed was not an option. So I walked away and went to a postal service store near by, and I shipped my instrument via USPS, with insurance for about $39. Granted, I didn't go to a UPS or FedEx store to get their quotes, but I know The Box Depot would've have charged more than 3 times of the USPS price if I decided to ship through them. There is a reason why the place gets so many 1 star reviews. Go somewhere else. read more

This place would be great, except the older asian gentleman is incredibly rude every time I go in here. I come in here quite regularly to purchase boxes and mail things out. If you try to pack something in-store prepare to get an earful who will make you purchase a box, leave the store to pack it and come back in to mail it. Yes I understand you offer packing services and your money is from supplies and packing but sometimes people need to pack things up and mail them. Unfortunately that's the nature of your business so if you turn customers off by being rude and forcing them to pack things up on the sidewalk you're going to lose them. This has happened to several people I know there. The employees are fantastic...that one guy should just leave the custome service to them. read more

I sent them a list of boxes I needed to help my daughter move. Instead of emailing me back, they called me with the amount. I asked him to confirm via email and he said just reference the call. When my daughter showed up, the almost doubled the price and I sent her the email with boxes I sent The Box Depot. They appear to be con artists and not to be trusted. read more
