This was the second time we had the good sense to use Prodigy in moving our home in Los Angeles (the first time was via a referral), and what can I say? These guys are as good as it gets! We had a large move on our hands with a 2 bed 3 bath town home (1350 sq ft), with a 40 mile distance to an even larger property to boot. We had collected a lot more stuff since moving out of our initial one bedroom apartment the first time using Prodigy and only going 4 miles, Prodigy instantly came to mind because we had such a good experience with them but we were still quite nervous about this project and even wondered whether we should look around to make sure we were getting the best deal and most reliable service. Well, we did look around and I can say this: If you compare Prodigy with the other top rated companies and look at the major complaints (on Yelp for instance), Prodigy's negative reviews are entirely trivial. No instances of overbilling, breakages, slow workers, major incidents, etc. Also, Prodigy's rates were quite competitive to the other two companies that I meticulously shortlisted after extensive research. But in the end, it is all about getting efficiently from point A to Z with no incidents and as cost effective as possible - and you get what you pay for people! So once I had that all figured I was set on Prodigy and no one else, I called Abby (who helped us the first time) and she was fantastic as usual. Asked all the right questions, took time to listen and best advised on the amount of estimated time and labor we would need for the project. I am so glad I listened to her as she likely saved us much money and time in recommending four movers instead of my requested 3 (even though I was initially skeptical), but these guys really are the professionals not just out to sell you. Funny enough after the move it was quite apparent that she gave me excellent advice (sorry for ever doubting you Abby)! We had a window of 8:00am-10am arrival on the day of the move, I stressed the fact of getting the old house packed and on the freeway before noon due to LA traffic and the guys were there by 8:45am - the guys: Marcos (Foreman), Erik G, Rigo and Kevin were all very sensitive to my concerns and Marcos and I actually recognized each other, he had helped us move the first time! When they say they hire only long term professional employees (no temps or day workers) they mean it, it must have been close to 6 years ago. Well, once again we were quickly impressed, these guys were the epitome of professionalism - fast, effective, knowledgeable, innovative and careful. They all went above an beyond (including what was necessary) to ensure we had a great move and that everything was to my satisfaction before final sign off. The cost was right about what we had expected and Abby was great in letting us know our discount options including Yelp coupon. But more than that they set the right expectations, got the job done as efficiently as possible and delivered on their promises - no incidents and everything was better than I could have expected for such a large (semi-long distance when it comes to LA standards) move. And that is really the main thing, peace of mind during one of the most stressful times of your life. I was even sorry to see the guys go! Two days later like clockwork Abby called to follow up to make sure everything met my expectations, more than met my expectations I was still ecstatic that everything was done so well and made so easy for us. Thank you, Abby, Marcos 3 and the crew! In a nutshell: Abby = Quick to reply, informative, honest, professional and she provided great customer service. Marcos 3 & crew = extremely fast, efficient, professional, polite, great customer service, honest, and did I say fast?! Before this move we hadn't used professional movers, but at the last minute we decided to go for it. What a great decision!! Never again will I ever move my own stuff. What three guys did in 3 hours would've taken us 2 full days (and there would've been five of us!!). Based on the yelp reviews, and after a few phone calls to go over pricing and what was included, we went with Prodigy. It's the best money we have spent on the entire move. We have no regrets whatsoever. In fact, we even recommended a colleague to the company, who has hired them as well. I would recommend this moving company to anyone who asked; actually even if you didn't ask I'd still tell you about them. Abby was able to answer all of my questions via phone and email (and quickly). This company understands and values customer service and I wish there were more places like this. She even called a few days after the move to make sure the job was satisfactory. Day of, Marcos and his team arrived, and ready to work - no joke. As soon as they walked in, we worked out the paperwork with Marcos and while that was happening the other two guys already started moving things right away! They don't mess around. And the paperwork was quick and easy, and they're very up front about costs. Nothing's hidden. We moved out of a 1 bedroom apartment on a second floor and had SO much stuff, but not once did the guys ever throw anything around, drop things, complain about the stairs, or get judge-y and tell us we had too much sh*t. They're extremely hard working. They were as careful as they could be - they do stack a bunch of boxes when possible, move briskly and the boxes can bounce around when being wheeled down stairs; but hey, they're moving, that's what they do. So it's on you to make sure you pack your stuff really really well. And it goes quicker if you have everything ready to be moved, rather than having the guys pack things for you. I mean, they'll do it, if you don't mind that eating into your time. They were helpful with the random pieces we didn't know how to pack beforehand; shrink-wrap is a miracle. You can tell they've been doing this for quite some time and on top of that, they're good at it. They're so fast - in the time it took us to load the 5 or 6 wardrobe boxes (literally moving clothes from our closets and hanging them in a box), they were pretty much done moving almost all of the boxes into the truck; about 30-40 boxes (see, a lot of stuff). I didn't feel like they were trying to stall to charge us more, they cared about moving our stuff quickly and safely. Marco kept stressing safety to us, which we thought was so great. And they packed everything so nicely in their truck, true Tetris style. Also, we thought they loaded quickly - unloading was even faster and they placed boxes, furniture, and random items wherever we needed them, which was such a huge help. I've never before written a Yelp review (or any other online review, for that matter) but now feel compelled to do so after having had a wonderful experience with Prodigy Moving & Storage. I hired Prodigy to move me out of my former apartment in DTLA, transport and store my belongings in Canoga Park for over a week, and then move me into a new loft, also in DTLA. I decided to contact them after seeing all of the positive Yelp reviews and, after speaking with Emily over the phone for approx. 3 mins., I could already begin to see the reason for all the praise. Emily was patient and knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions. She even anticipated questions that I didn't know I should be asking! All of the terms of their services were laid out very clearly and the pricing is perfectly fair. I decided to book on the spot. I later received confirmation emails and follow-up status/confirmation calls from Prodigy's owner Ben/Barak (more on Ben later). Alex and his crew showed up on my move-out day and took over. Alex reiterated the same terms I'd discussed with Emily and the team was both professional and efficient. I don't necessarily own the nicest furniture but these guys took care to pad and shrink wrap all of it for protection during transportation and storage (tape and pads are free, by the way). There wasn't a doubt in my mind that it'd be returned to me in the same condition I left it before being stored--for free!--in Prodigy's facilities in Canoga Park. Michael and Pedro showed up to help me move into my new place and, indeed, my stuff showed up in perfect shape. Michael and Pedro were great: super-nice, courteous, and eager to help, in addition to being extremely efficient. They appeared to be perfectly aware that I was paying by the hour and they quickly made it apparent that I'd get my money's worth (which I certainly did). All of this great service aside, perhaps the best part of my experience working with Prodigy was communicating with its owner, Ben. Ben is as nice and helpful as can be and has a way of putting you at ease in the midst of your hectic move by instilling a sense of confidence in his operation. More specifically, I encountered an unanticipated issue with regard to the charge for the drive-time on my move-in day. Traffic was heavy that day and the drive from Canoga Park to my DTLA took much longer than expected. Even though I am not generally comfortable negotiating such matters, I gave Ben a call to see if he'd be willing to work with me on the unexpected charge. He didn't hesitate to very kindly agree to work something out and it made a HUGE difference. Every business owner should be more like Ben! To wrap this up: from top to bottom, this is a fantastic company and I can't imagine there's anyone else out there who does a better job. I hate moving. The last time that I moved I had a bunch of friends help me do it and it had taken upwards of 10 hours, and we weren't even blanketing/wrapping any of the furniture. This time, I wanted to hire movers in an effort to cut that time in half. Well, boy was I in for a surprise. My crew was Marcos (3), Juan (2), and Vlada, and they were AWESOME! I had a lot of stuff jam-packed into my apartment, and I was on the fourth floor with a tiny non-freight elevator to move stuff to the ground floor. But they were lightning fast and got everything packed up and moved down super quick. Normally, you get double-charged for the driving time between your pickup and your drop-off location, but since the drive between mine was only like 5 minutes, Marcos didn't charge me double for that time, which was pretty awesome. Then, when we got to my new apartment, the crew got all my furniture reassembled and unloaded, all in little more time than it took me to unpack my wardrobe from the wardrobe boxes. When Marcos told me they were done unloading, I was shocked. When I moved in, I had to disassemble my bed frame to get it out of my previous apartment, so I was worried about moving it into my new apartment as well. Marcos told me he thought he could do it without disassembling it, but he still appeased me and disassembled/reassembled it for me to ease my mind. True, I was mostly all packed and ready-to-go when they got there. And true, it was a pretty short local move. But man, I never expected to be all moved and done in under 3 hours! I was already planning on the moving consuming most of my day, but then I was done by lunchtime, and I had more than enough time to unpack all of my stuff, setup all my stuff, and even decorate my new apartment; things I never assumed that I would have time for on the same day of my physical move. The only slight annoyance was a miscommunication between the office and the crew on my pick-up time. I was originally scheduled for an 8-10am pickup, but emailed the office to change it to 9am, since that was the earliest time the loading dock at my apartment complex could be unlocked. They confirmed me for a 9am pickup time, but the crew still arrived at about 8:20am. Thankfully, Marcos called me about 15 minutes before they were set to arrive, which is good, otherwise I might have been unreachable by phone in the shower! It wasn't a huge deal though, and the team got everything efficiently packed and loaded even without the loading dock available for that earlier time. Excellent. First, setting up the appointment with Abby was easy and clear. Abby helped us decide which services best fitted our needs, the amount of time the move could take, and an approximate cost. Most importantly, we had to change the moving schedule a few days beforehand, but Abby was able to make it work. Abby sent emails that followed up on our conversation, which detailed the cost, what was to be expected, and how to best prepare for moving day. Abby also gave me the best hourly rate available - even after I found coupons online. Abby took excellent care of us through the entire process. Moreover, she called and emailed us after the move to see how everything went, and whether our expectations were met. We were happy to tell her that we couldn't be more pleased. As for the movers, Jesus Mendoza and the Crew were EXCELLENT! They were focused and had great attitudes, and they worked incredibly hard. Most importantly, they were polite, respectful, and courteous to my family. They arrived just after 0800 and got started right away with a walk-thru so that they can get the general idea of how they were going to organize. Jesus asked me if I had any questions or concerns, and then they got started with the move. During the move they worked efficiently and didn't waste any time. They boxed my loose items (lamps, bags, baskets, etc.) into large crates and loaded them onto the truck. They carefully, but quickly, wrapped all the furniture so that it fit neatly without stacking everything on top of it, and they took it apart and put it back together if needed. They were careful with fragile items, and I was impressed by their skilled service. After they finished loading, each team member and I walked through the house checking for anything left behind. At the new place, the guys were just as careful and efficient. They laid down a plastic "walkway" throughout the entire house, leading into each room so to not damage the wood floors or the carpet. Also, they were careful not to rub walls, counters, etc., which was so important to us. My family directed them as to where each box and piece of furniture went, and they worked in an efficient military manner putting everything in its rightful place. In the end, everything was in order and where it should be. Nothing was damaged - not even a scratch. We couldn't be more pleased. These guys worked incredibly hard. Compared to other movers in the past, they were beyond expectations, and we'll definitely use them again. I would recommend Prodigy Moving and Storage with certainty. Our family was moving locally within LA County, but we needed to store everything for few weeks in between moves. After seeing so many positive reviews for Prodigy, I called and spoke with Abby to get an estimate and learn more about the storage facility. Security was our top priority for storing our things and Abby answered all my questions, assuring me that our belongings would be in good hands. We were also thrilled for a free month of storage since we only needed a couple weeks. In the five days between that phone call and our move, Prodigy not only called to confirm, but they also sent a test truck to our home (on the weekend) to make sure it would fit down our narrow street and driveway. That was impressive and it gave a great indication of Prodigy's level of service. On the day of our move, Marcos and his crew arrived on time and got right to work. Although we had hoped to pack everything ahead of time, we hadn't finished and Marcos took care of it all. They came prepared to pack anything and handled even our most fragile items (computers, TVs, frames, etc.) with great care. The guys worked tirelessly all day in extreme heat (close to 100 degrees & no AC) and were professional and friendly the entire time. Their ability to maximize space as they loaded our things was incredible. The truck was packed solid when they left our house. Marcos and his crew did a fantastic job! About two weeks later, I called Abby to schedule the delivery, and I made sure to request Marcos and his crew again. Scheduling the dates (pick up and delivery) was easy. My preferred days were available, even without much advance notice. Again, Marcos arrived on time with a different crew, although they were equally professional and hard working. They worked quickly and were careful to ask where we wanted things to go. We were moving into a brand new house that was still being finished, so they also had to unload around a few other guys who were working around the house. I was a little concerned about scratching the new wood floors, but before they started, Marcos rolled out protective mats and asked his crew to carry things inside instead of using dollies. At the end of the day, there wasn't a single scratch, scuff or chip anywhere in the house! We couldn't be more satisfied with Marcos, his crews, Abby and the entire Prodigy team. They are far and away the best moving company I've ever used. They are professional, hard working, friendly and a complete pleasure to work with. Hello Prodigy I want to thank your company for helping to make a difficult moving process so easy. My family moved from Lynwood to Moreno Valley and your moving company helped in such an awesome way. Due to escrow situations we had to move our moving dates a few times but that was not an issue for your company. Your salesperson Iliya (estimator). Told me when he came out to view my home to just call and let you know if I had an change. Sad to say I had a few dates changes but each time I called or your company called me to verify my moving dates. When i would spoke to Veronica Romero, the follow up rep. she was very pleasant and friendly and made a hard process of changing easy. So when the date finally came to move on Dec 30th Friday for packing your company sent the best Team Leader, Marcos (foreman), and he and his team packed my whole house. I told Iliya that there were things in each knuck and cranny of my home, but that did not hinder Marcos team they came in and got things packed and ready to go for moving out on Saturday. We were so impressed by their professionalism and kindness and eagerness to work. They labeled everything so it was easy to locate. Then on Saturday moving date again Marcos team came right in and did their job of moving everything and I mean everything out. The house was so cleaned they wrapped things with care I really appreciated that. Then they didn't waste any time getting to the new home in Moreno Valley and they unpacked, put things in place and put things back together. All I can say was AWESOME truly AWESOME. it was raining both days but the team took great care to not bring the rain in with them. Prodigy Moving & Storage exceeded my expectations. I found them on Yelp and for the first time here in the LA area the reviewers have it right! The 5 star rating is well deserved! My wife and I were moving within the town, but needed help with the larger and heavier furniture. I found Prodigy on Yelp and decided to give them a try. I had some reservations about what to expect because we haven't had much luck matching our experiences with the reviews on Yelp here in SoCal (mostly with restaurants and car dealerships) but the Yelp came through for us. The service we had was 3 movers for the minimum 3 hours. Eddie, Enrique and Pedro arrived within the first hour of the 6 hour time window. The timing couldn't have been better because there was actually enough space for the big ass truck they were driving to park with no problems. I was greeted kindly and they quickly went to work after studying our place and asking which items were to be moved. The major reason I decided to use Prodigy was because they advertised that they would disassemble and reassemble furniture. I have an extra large executive desk from Thomasville and PITA eastern king sized platform bed frame that needed to be taken down from the 2nd floor of the apt we were moving from. Eddie was able to take apart these 2 furnitures faster than I could've figured out how to do it myself. And believe me the desk and the bed frame had ALOT of parts to it. While those 2 furnitures were being worked on, Enrique and Pedro wasted no time carefully padding and wrapping our sectional, dresser and entertainment consoles and loaded them in the truck wasting no time at all. We ended up going slightly over the 3 hour mark, but the assembly and reassembly of the desk and the bed frame needed the time. Those 2 items were the ones I was most stressed about moving, but those guys took care of them like they built and the designed it themselves. All in all it was a pleasure doing business with Prodigy. The service level definitely competes with other major moving companies but at a significantly lower price. They also offered 5% discount and cash which I was happy to use since I couldn't get my printer working to do the coupon discount. There were two major components to my recent move: Pre-move coordination and the move itself. Both were above-average -to-great. Everyone at Prodigy HQ went out of their way to accommodate my inflexible schedule and comply with the insurance requirements for the move-in building's HOA. Abby, in particular, was a delight. She stayed in contact throughout the entire pre-move process and was always very pleasant on the phone. On the day of the move, Sagi and his crew arrived promptly, greeted me cordially and enthusiastically and got right to work. Now, I don't own a lot of big stuff, so I'm an easy move, but there were a couple obstacles at the move-in building. Obstacle the first: I was moving Downtown, and maneuvering a 26-foot truck around some of those streets is difficult at best. No problem; the driver guided it right in. Obstacle the second: I had no idea how to get into the building, except through the front door, which seemed like a bad idea. After some head-scratching and a few fruitless phone calls to the HOA's answering service, Sagi and I embarked on a mission to find a proper access point. Where I was hesitant, Sagi was bold and determined. He suggested we prop open a door near the underground garage entrance, and soon there were couches and boxes making their way into the building. Victory! He even used some packing tape to connect a door handle to a nearby pole, keeping the door from closing and prompting me to dub him the "MacGuyver of Moving". My only bit of criticism was that Sagi's English wasn't great, and his crew didn't seem to be any more fluent. I often wondered if they understood my instructions as I intended them. But the proof is in the pudding, and everything got done the way it needed to get done, so I can't possibly justify deducting a star for the slight language barrier. I would certainly recommend Prodigy to anyone in the Los Angeles area. And if you end up with Sagi as your foreman, count yourself lucky. He's the kind of easy-going-yet-hard-working guy you could imagine inviting you to play "futbol" on the beach, beer in hand--which, surprisingly, is exactly the right disposition for someone guiding you through a stressful move. Prodigy is a first class moving company. My brother and I were helping our mother move from a large home to a one bedroom apartment in a senior community and we were looking for a mover that would work with us to meet herneeds. We had spoken with another mover that had pushed a high level of senior oriented services that were more costly than the actual move. In our case, we didn't believe this wasn't really necessary; we just wanted an efficient and careful move. I then called Abbey after seeing the Yelp reviews and she was extremely helpful in explaining their regular moving services, the costs involved, and the timing. Because our mom was moving to a 3rd floor apt we agreed to a slightly larger crew based on her recommendation that it would go smoother if an elevator wasn't available. We subsequently found that an elevator was available and she reduced the crew size and hourly cost. We prepped for the move by identifying the furniture we wanted to move and boxing up most of the smaller items. On the day of the move, Ricardo and his crew of two arrived on time nearly to the minute, quickly got organized, went over the costs and paperwork, and started wrapping the furniture, paintings, mirrors, clocks, etc. that we had marked to move. We had segregated boxes we wanted them to take and boxes that we would take and they took the correct ones with no further direction. Clothes were transferred to wardrobe boxes, some unboxed fragile items were boxed and carefully packed, everything was loaded efficiently, and they cleaned up afterwards leaving the house in good shape. They followed us to the apartment about 10 minutes away and all was unloaded, unpacked, and placed per our direction. Not one item was broken or missing. They took back nearly all the packing materials that they unpacked. Start to finish in a little more than 5 hours--we expected it to take most of the day. The price was very fair, cheaper than just the moving price quoted by the other company that we talked with, and the service was great. Highly recommend them. My one concern is that Prodigy should put in place a recycling program that recycles all the materials it uses including the shrinkwrap film that they use. I'd give them a bonus star if they start doing that. read more

If I could give Prodigy more than 5 stars I would! This will be a long review to give due credit to all. Abby took my call and thoroughly explained the costs and services and followed up with emails to confirm. Sean came out to the house we were moving from and patiently answered all of my questions to give me an incredible estimate for the job. At one point, we thought we would have to do a temporary storage and he assured me how easy it would be, plus the first month would have been free! As it is, we were only able to give about a week's notice of our move date, and it was no problem. Between Sean and Abby, I felt assured I had chosen the right company. Moving day went beyond my hopes and expectations! We were moving from a large two story house to a smaller two story house, with an extra stop to deliver our piano to our friend's home. Two 26' trucks and 6 men right were right on time after navigating a steep street to our house. Eddie, the foreman, introduced himself and his crew, David, Francisco, Jesus, Lalo and Ricardo. Eddie surveyed the house with us, explained their proposed course of action, and they went to work immediately. We were blown away by everyone's professionalism and expertise as they moved heavy furniture downstairs and into the trucks up the driveway, along with appliances, couches, more boxes than you could count, as well as patio furniture and large potted plants, including two potted trees. The teamwork was amazing! The Guys never stopped until both trucks were packed with absolutely no damage to the house or our belongings. And by the way, the temperature that day was about 100 or so. So onto the new house where Eddie, David, Francisco, Jesus, Lalo and Ricardo never let up. Heavy furniture was moved upstairs, appliances were hooked up, doors were taken off and replaced to maneuver large items into rooms. Everyone made sure things were put in the correct places, and they even changed placements to accommodate me deciding to change my mind where to put things! By the end of the day, when the job was completed, we could not have been happier with our move. Our sincere thanks go out to an amazing crew and the company they work with. I am pretty lazy when it comes to doing lots of research about companies that I want/need to employ, so usually I just come to yelp and see which companies have the highest reviews from customers. Prodigy was at the top of the list, so after making another call to a recommended moving company and seeing that Prodigy was a little bit cheaper, I went ahead and booked them. I was absolutely thrilled with the service. The guy in charge of the move was Joshua, and Jose (Dos) and Leonardo were the other members of the team. They arrived on time, worked extremely hard, and were incredibly respectful of all our belongings. When we arrived to the new home to start unloading the truck, Joshua saw that we had just gotten new floors installed, so he made sure to put down carpet runners in all the rooms and helped us put cardboard and scratch pads underneath the legs of all our furniture before they unwrapped them and set them down. One of our pieces of furniture (a wooden chest), was slightly damaged from regular wear and tear and started to fall apart as it was being moved, so Leonardo took a few minutes at the new house to fix the bottom for us and now it's as good as new! In our old rental we never had time to set up our guest bedroom so the mattress, box spring and bed frame were still wrapped in their original packaging. Joshua offered to put the bed together for us, and we were (and are!) so thankful! It just gave us one less thing to do to get our new home set up which makes the process a little easier. We really had a great experience with the entire team, and, although I hope we do not have to move again for a VERY long time, I would absolutely hire them again, and of course I would recommend them to our friends. Valeria was the woman I was in touch with over the phone to get the move set up, and she was also an invaluable part of our experience, giving me time to figure out our move date since we were in the middle of escrow when I initially called Prodigy and our closing date kept changing. She kept in touch, called before and after the move, and was just generally pleasant and attentive in the middle of all our moving craziness. What a great company! Called them around February to have a move done around April. They sent an estimator to my home on the following day to assess what need to be done. Uri was wonderful, he took his time an toured the house and explained how our nice furniture will be wrapped and protected in extreme detail. He recommended going with a 5 professional movers (they always repeat it, to make sure you know they are sending you pros). My wife emphasizes some art work that needs to be protected and are of a great value. Uri kept reassuring us that his guys know what they are doing and it will be all handled with care, he also promised to stop by on the packing day. Fast forward a month, countless times of rescheduling and an escrow company that I will later yelp... Prodigy office was great in accommodating our special needs, they sent some boxes for us to pack some of the personal items prior to the arrival our the guys and I was dealing mostly with Sean & Ben at the office end. Uri gave me a call a week before the move to see if I got any questions and ben called me a day before just to check in if we need anything special. 3 men showed up at 8am, Martin, Jose and Francisco. They started with laying protection on the floors and started to get the boxes in. After 8 hours of hard work, meticulous packing work and many jokes they guys were done. Uri did come to check how things are and we appreciated allot that he did, it was great to see that he was there to get the business and also that he follow up with what he said he would do. Following day... 5 movers 2 orange trucks parked at 7:30 am and to the first day crew Ivan & Lalo joined. Wrapped all furniture, load all boxes and fast, but not too fast, stack it very nicely in the truck and off to the new home. the first 15 minutes at the new home were dedicated to protecting the floors and walls. 3 hours gone and trucks are empty, trash hauled and the only things left are to assemble some items. Uri stopped by to make sure we are satisfied and the price was exactly what we quoted.
