I rented a storage unit here and everything went surprisingly smoothly. The first month free promotion actually worked, and the final price was very low compared to what I expected. I was able to do the whole rental online, choose the unit, complete the payment, and get the information without needing to meet anyone in person. We arrived very late, almost at the last minute, and still had no problems getting in. The unit number was easy to find, the key was already inside as promised, and we were able to move our things in right away. The whole process was quick, simple, and convenient. Good price, easy online setup, and everything worked exactly the way it was supposed to. read more

Hi recently signed up for Acorn TV! I really enjoy British Telly. What I have learned in one day that it's a total scam for Americans! I have watched at least 4 shows on our local plus 4 PBS and 4 seasons of most shows. I assumed when I joined Acorn tv that not only would I get the "next" seasons of all of my shows!! WRONG! 90 % of the shows I enjoy are only from the first 2 seasons I have watched or start at season 5 when I haven't seen season 4! Silly me! I expected to get seasons I didn't see and be able to watch seasons. Good Bye Acorn! Just another scam!! SO HAPPY MY OFFER is for 99 cents for 2 days!! I just saved $1.00! God Bless America ! read more

I will NEVER use this place aga8n, after 3 mos. They raised our rent. WTF. On top of that they wanted to know about everything we were storing. I bought two sheds just to get out of there before another increase. My advise, find another place to rent. The only postives was that it was clean. read more

I needed storage quick after moving and I spoke with Arden @Extra Space Storage. She found me a unit on the spot and even delayed her lunch break to help me. Fast forward 10 days later and my storage needs grew to store a classic truck. Once again Arden came through and let me know of a recent vacancy and quickly accommodated me into a larger the very same day!! Saving me time and money! She offered to clean it on the spot but I said it was not a concern. This is a great business and Arden and her staff have top notch customer service skills. I will recommend ESS to all my friends and family. Easy access off 38th ave AND multiple moving carts available with large freight elevator. read more

If I could give this place a 0 star review I would. The staff is nice but their policies around price increases are predatory. My original payment almost tripled within 4 months of renting a unit. Their contract states they can increase the unit cost between 0-100% annually. Instead of emailing a notice of a price increase they say they "mail" a notice of price change. I've lived at the same residence for over a year and received no such notice. I highly recommend folks not to store your goods here unless you are okay with the original price doubling or tripling on an annual basis. read more

The storage units are easy to open up I rented the 5x8 size The ceiling is very tall There are people getting things from storage and putting things into storage I didn't see people hanging out" . I'm used to seeing that at Public Storages Units are clean Place is professional- safe I like the color schemes blue- grays 38th has a great wrap around design so you can pull in and then drive through No turn around Dollies - carts ARE NoT extra large, bulky and annoying. They are large and perfect- Easy access code Easy entry Elevator can be used w/ o code I'm very satisfied I'm glad glad that I moved out of Public Storage. PS was 3x the cost of Extra Space I paid for a year - this allowed me to get promo pricing locked in read more

Very clean, very secure for your favorites. I had my stuff for nearly 20 years stored here was just in as good shape . No weird smells no dampness or mold. Only problem, the price went up ever year read more

I had a 10x20 drive to the door unit at Extra Space Storage on 38th Ave for about a year. The unit was clean, had a ceiling light, the facility was very well lit, and gate access was available until 10 pm! A huge plus! My husband passed away suddenly last year. We had to clean out his machine shop. I needed a storage space asap. Extra Space was in the neighborhood. I pre-paid 4 months in advance. And got a great deal. As I sorted my husband's things out, I downsized to the point of no longer needing that much space. So I was able to move out. Arden and Michael were extremely personable, courteous and answered any questions I had. I would definitely recommend Extra Space Storage on 38th Ave. read more

I had a very pleasant experience today at the 38th street extra storage space. I spoke with a girl at the front desk, I believe her name was Arden. She gave me a full run down of the lease and showed me a 3x3 & 5x5, I was however looking for a larger space but will be back soon. Arden was very professional and polite. Thanks again. I'm moving houses soon due to my landlord selling his house. and this is the closet place that makes sense to store my things until I figure out where I'm moving next. The facility is clean and in a good area so I feel safe leaving my property here. read more

Wonderful management and staff. Clean facilities. Easy to use. And I like that the access hours begin early and end late.

Cyndi was so helpful! This places is the best as far as I'm concerned. I needed a storage unit for two months, this place is located right around the corner from where I live so they're very convenient for me. They usually have great specials if you reserve online ahead of time which is great. Moving is expensive enough already! Anyway, if you need a place to store your things safely in a convenient location, I highly recommend Extra Space Storage! read more

These people will steal from you and have no remorse. They stole 2 of my spare keys and either sold them to some thief or took what was in my storage for themselves. Cindy is the "mastermind" behind the whole operation. And whoever works there now promises to get me a refund and call me back but never does.... I am giving them until January and then I will begin the annoying process of civil charges against the company. read more

Cyndi was super helpful with getting me into my mothers storage unit when she was in the hospital. I could not have done it without her clear instructions and support. Much appreciated. read more

We have been a customer for three years, our needs have changed an wanted to down size our space. Arden was very helpful in finding several smaller spaces. We found one just down the hall from our space. We were able to move out of the old space and into the new one with in a few hours. Thank You Arden, Donn and JoAnne Meade read more

Convenient, good location. Friendly associate. A little pricy. Clean facility. Didn't get web rate at start.

Cyndi was AWESOME! Had to service the elevators and she was very helpful. Made my time there easy breezy. In and out. Thanks Cyn.

DO NOT STORE YOUR BELONGINGS AT THIS PLACE! My daughter and a friend selected this place to store their items while away for the summer. They thought this place was safer since not as many homeless around the area. Little did they know that the person they needed to watch out for was THE MANAGER Cyndi Sweeten who works at another one of their locations also. This manager took advantage of two young unsuspecting girls and ROBBED THEM blind! I'm positive she's done this many times before. They bought two locks from them that came with two sets of keys but were only given one set. They go back two months later and 99% of their strings are gone. I'm sure the MANAGER sold the keys to some tweakers while turning a blind eye while they make off with all their things. My daughter reports the missing items to them and is told to file a police report and file an insurance claims. Insurance is required so no sweat off their backs. They were so nonchalant because I'm sure it happens all the time especially when it's an inside job. The locks weren't broken, no signs of forced entry, and all kinds of excuses on how people gain access to the units. Who knows how long it will take for the insurance claim to be paid out and that's if they pay it out. This is not how they wanted to start off the school year. We are beyond frustrated! Paid over $800 for a service that was never provided. I'm sure the moment my daughter locked up her stuff and walked out, the manager had a "buyer "for all her stuff. Do not trust this place! You are better off leaving your belongings on the street corner. read more

There are many things I love about this storage facility. Reserving and setting up the lease is super simple, and you can accomplish everything online. It is clean, and there are carts available. The person who works there Cindy is super friendly and very helpful. They do a good job of communicating via email and even texts that are helpful. But after my first 3 months my rate was raised 36% with no warning that I was aware of. Although the agreement says it is month to month and they CAN raise the rate at any time, I was shocked to see that after my third month my rate was increased by $64 - a 36% increase in one month. When I talked to Cindy she said that this was fairly standard rate increase, and that it is typical to raise rates during the first 4 to 6 months, and every 9 months or so after that. And they only notify you via a postcard in the mail, which I do not remember receiving (it is quite possible I did and threw it away not knowing what it was). I understand that a business will need to raise rates. But $70 a month extra But a 36% increase during the first 5 months seems over the top. This company is great about communication - Cindy called me after my move-in, I get monthly emails and texts when my automatic payment is received. But when it came time to raise my rate by 36% - nothing other than a postcard sent in the mail. So I will be moving out by the end of the month (and after confirming that I received both an email and a text from Extra Space immediately). Cindy is amazing, and this is a great facility overall. But these kind of rate increases won't work for me. Maybe they will for you. read more

This was one of the best facilities that I've rented in. Very clean, well lit and accessible. There were ample carts available on ever visit. I loved the pop music when it was piped in. Easy onboarding and good experience checking out. Cindy and Fernando (?) were awesome. I forgot to give notice of moving out and my auto pay already went thru. Cindy credited it for me. Very much appreciated. Great experience! read more

Amazing Service every time! - upfront and honest onions/options provided regardless of the question or situation. Signing up was a breeze, the prices were very competitive with other storage units. The facility is always clean, non-smelly or sketch like some of the West-side storage places can be. I highly recommend this place if you need a storage unit. read more

Like with every storage place in Santa Cruz they bait you with a low price then they raise after two months.

It was okay i was new to entering the code forgot to add the "*" at the end didn't realize it until later. I pressed that button for help no one answered just assumed no one was there at the time. I did feel uncomfortable when this white truck kept pulling near me and my friend and watched us load all my furniture. Even when we came a second time to haul more stuff the same truck came to watch us again. Didn't identify themselves wasn't sure if it was a worker or someone seeing all of belongings that i stored. The unit was clean and bright though which i liked because we did it after sun down. read more

I rented a 5x12 unit for $130 and the monthly rent increased multiple times over the next 9 months to $190, at which point I ended my relationship with ES. I was never notified that a rent increase would be a possibility, let alone multiple rent increases in such a short period of time. I called the facility asking to see where the contract stated that the rent would be periodically raised and the woman could not specify where it was stated. I was also not notified of the increases via email (the method of communication for every other related notice) and only realized that they had occurred when looking through the payment confirmation messages. I have since moved my belongings to State Wide Self Storage on the Westside. Their rates and customer service have been far superior. On a somewhat related note, the ES location on 38th is very damp inside and required the use and frequent replacement of moisture-absorbing products. State Wide's location is approximately as close to the ocean as the 38th one, but it is much drier and I've had no issues with moisture there. read more

Fast, easy and safe process for renting storage. Front desk last was rally great!! A++++

I rented a 5x5 unit in September 2013 for $46. I was notified that there would be a rental increase in 6 months and I would be provided 30-days notice of that increase. I was required to provide a credit card for automatic withdrawal of the monthly rent. I was NOT informed that a rental increase would occur AUTOMATICALLY every 9 months (until 3 days ago) and range from 15% to 24% as it has during the past 3.5 years. My rent on this 5x5 storage unit has DOUBLED during the past 3.5 years. Its square footage rental rate is now equivalent to the average square footage rental rate for HOUSING in Seattle and Boston. The district team leader (Medeiros) informed me 2 days ago that there is no limit to how much or often Extra Space Storage raises the rate on loyal tenants to match the current "street" rate, that is is entirely computer-generated according to supply and demand. read more

Just say no to this place... they treated me like gold & my son like dirt... not to mention their failure to recognize or acknowledge that my son had left the unit empty & ready for someone else caused an extra month of fees which we didn't find out about until being sent to collections!
