Spoke to Kevin originally long distance, very pleasant, very professional. Needed help unloading my mothers moving truck. He confirmed our dates and his rates. Talked a couple of times before the move, very responsive a to inquiries and requests. He and a helper showed up on the day of the move on time and with all the equipment my husband requested. They were professional and efficient. Most of all they were nice to my Mother, that was everything. HIGHLY recommend this company for any moving needs! read more

Extremely unprofessional business, poor experience attempting to coordinate a one item transport. Initially Tavares was responsive and had a competitive rate to transport a table for me. Went to great lengths and expense coordinating pickup with another party and Tavares. As the pickup/drop off date got closer I hadn't heard anything from Tavares. I began to send messages through yelp, via text, then finally called leaving multiple voicemails. I have not received a response after 3 days contacting them. On my first call, the phone rang like normal. After that every time I called it went straight to voicemail, I believe they blocked my number. If you changed your mind or something came up and you can no longer do a job, just let your customer know. Don't leave them in the dark and block their number. read more

Tavares Packing & Loading - My attempts to reach Tavares - Movers Near Me - Salinas, California

Great crew , handled with care . Used for a few pieces of furniture and local moving . Good value

Eddie and his team showed up right on time, were professional and quickly completed our unload. I would highly recommend. Thank you!

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a Tavares Packing & Loading service I booked through Moving Help. The movers failed to arrive at the scheduled time. When I called to inquire about their status, the representative was extremely rude, stated that they were overbooked, and hung up on me. read more

***THEY ARE NOT LICENSED OR INSURED*** even though license is listed on their web page; shame on us for not verifying. *WARNING* I scheduled Tavares Packing and Loading a month prior to scheduled move date. They confirmed the day prior to the date that they would be here. Come moving day they're NOWHERE to be found. I used this team to help me unload my moving truck and trailer. They quickly responded to my inquiry, were easy to work with to schedule an arrival, communicative, and showed up on time. The team was fast, efficient, and respectful. I needed a moving company with short notice and these guys came through. Would highly recommend them to anyone moving to the Monterey Peninsula. read more

Eddie is a very professional and honest business man. We called him about moving estimates for our home and he advised since we had a small amount to move going to another state that we use U-Boxes. We called U-Haul and set up U-Boxes to move our things. U-Haul was very organized and professional and our items were moved safely and on-time. Eddie could have taken our business charging a much higher fee but he advised us to try U-Haul. We appreciate his friendly help and honesty!!! read more

Trustworthy. Professional. Personable. Competitively priced. Will use them for all moving needs. HIGHLY recommend.

Tavares Packing & Loading - Moving truck - Movers Near Me - Salinas, California

This was our fourth move with 'Tavares Packing and Loading' over 8 years. Eddie squeezed us into the schedule on late notice. Bill and Fernando used great care moving our stuff to the central valley from the Peninsula. No one could have beat the price, no one would have shown more care for our collection of possessions. I can't say enough good about the service we experienced. Thank you again Eddie. And you were right, Bill. We're on the border.... You guys were great. Thank you. read more

I used Tavares Packing for a local, partial pack, move. It was great and I would hire them again, and will recommend them to anyone who asks. All of my belongings were well packed and made it with no damage. I moved from a five bedroom home which I was in for 11 years, to a two bedroom apartment. They maneuvered in my tiny stairwells with care and did no damage to walls. They returned to pick up all of the packing material at my request. They even found a hanging crystal from a lampshade and returned it to me. Being away from family, this felt like my dad and my brothers were moving me. Thank you! read more

Just did a full pack & move of our family of 4 (counting the dog) and we were on a deadline. Booked a few weeks in advance and I am glad I did. Every step of the way, Eddie, Fernando & team are always thinking 3 steps ahead, going above and beyond to make as smooth a process as possible. Change isn't always easy but I'm glad we went for the full service pack & move. We got out of there before the end of the month and deposit on our old rental covered the moving expenses. Definitely satisfied with the services and the price. Thankful to be in a new home as scheduled couldn't have done it with out you. Thank you so much!!! read more

I have been a Real Estate Broker for almost 25 years, and my clients would always ask me who I recommended for a Moving Co. I would ask past clients & colleagues in our office, but there was NEVER anyone that I could refer to my clients to use-all had horror stories..until now...I found Eddie Tavares and his team from Salinas, CA. on Yelp & Nextdoor Monterey-and I thank God I found him! He helped move my Seller clients from San Jose, CA to their new home in eastern Tennessee, & were absolutely fabulous in every way!! They even custom made a wood crate for a very expensive heavy beveled glass table on 2 heavy stone pedestals w/8 upholstered chairs! This company has been in business for decades, & uses mainly family employees who are experienced & reliable, not like your typical run of the mill corporation type moving co. with their high turnover of employees which makes your move hit or miss. From my first point of contact of my phone call to Eddie to inquire about the quality of his services, instructing him to contact my Seller clients direct, Eddie was very customer service oriented & professional, calling my clients that evening On A Weekend btw, to make an appointment to go give them a bid the next day, subsequently giving them a very reasonable bid they accepted. He & his team were conscientious, diligent, timely, w/excellent communication skills giving my clients text updates where they were periodically, on their way over to the clients waiting at their new home in TN. I would give Tavares & Co. Way Over 5 out of 5 that Yelp uses to rate businesses! They were AMAZING and I would highly recommend them! Sincerely, Mary Faria, Associate Broker, Corcoran Icon Properties, 2698 Berryessa Road, San Jose, CA. read more

Moving near or far, once or many, having careful hands and trustworthy movers is a must. After following some basic guidelines we found Tavares Packing and Loading. This team is prompt, efficient, careful, friendly, insured and eager to please. Eddie and his team moved us in a day (3 bed, 2 bath house plus shed), had packaging and protective blankets on hand. He's conscientious, affordable and professional. The company showed up prepared - with their newest truck and an extra truck, packaging materials, blankets, straps...and more. Tavares Packing and Loading is highly recommended and I share this with my friends and colleagues. Eddie and his crew were awesome! He was affordable, super fast, friendly, and flexible. My move got complicated at the last minute because the truck with the u-haul crates couldn't fit in the tiny driveway of my apartment complex. He adapted and loaded all my belongings on his smaller truck, took everything to uhaul and reloaded everything into the uhaul crates. I was so grateful for his ability to work with a last minute change like that when most would probably have given up and left me high and dry. Don't hesitate to hire them, you won't regret it! read more

I have used this company on multiple occasions and let me say they do live up to their five star rating. Yesterday my daughter was moving from her apartment in North Salinas to a house in East Garrison (Marina). I spoke to Eddie a couple months ago and asked him if this was an open day for him. Fortunately it was. I also asked him if he would show up at my house first, on the south side of Salinas, to pack up furniture we purchased for my daughters' family. He said no problem. They were supposed to be here at 8:30 but they showed up at 8:27 sharp. Eddie and three of his guys swept up the stuff at my house and then proceeded to my daughters house on the northside. She lives in an apartment that has at least 20 concrete stairs going up to the second floor. They arrived, set up, and had the whole two bedroom apartment loaded up before 10 o'clock. Once they arrived at her new place Eddie and his team had their doors open, their arms lifting and their legs walking. Nobody missed a beat. They were done and ready to leave by 1130. The most important thing is that they handled the move in with the same care as they did the move out. They laid down blankets, they covered furniture, televisions and bannisters. Precision and professionalism are their trademark. Eddie has assembled a team of men that not only enjoy working for him but they love him. This truly is a family ran business with an established legacy for the name Tavares that is respected not just in our community but also nation wide. Thanks Eddie, we won't waste our time looking through yelp reviews for anyone else. read more

Absolutely the WORST nightmare of a moving experience ever. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I saw the 4.5 star review and read the first several reviews and thought this would be a good company to hire. I sure wish I had dug much deeper into the 1-star reviews, but I was in a hurry, with this part of the move being only part 1 of a massive international move. Please read those reviews...they expose the real Eddie Tavares. He is a rude, bullying, disgusting misogynistic pig who doesn't give a crap about your belongings. He complained to me about his previous clients...the ones here on Yelp who wrote the bad reviews, laughing at how ridiculous he thought they were. We had gone over everything in a walk-through weeks prior to the move, and we talked about the delicate antiques that needed to be carefully handed, and we talked about the delicate dishes and how I trust professional movers to know how to pack those things correctly. He threw blankets only partially around the furniture, leaving the rest exposed. Didn't protect the legs or feet or even the sides of the antiques. They broke my antique mirror that was nearly 200 years old and part of my beloved dresser I've had since I was a kid. THEN, HE HAD THE GALL TO SAY MY SISTER DID IT! He complained the whole time about customers, about having to pack my delicate things, and he talked to me with his nose almost touching my nose in a super loud voice and I could smell his stinky breath on my face. He made inappropriate comments. Then, when I was totally exhausted and he knew it, he told me where to sign his contract as he was leaving and said I didn't need any "additional insurance" - which I thought meant I was fully covered by the standard insurance...like when you rent a car. But no, he knew he did a crap job and didn't want to be responsible for it, so he had checked the box valuing fine china and antiques at 60 cents per pound. Yes, they should have been sent away...but what can you do when you have your worldly possessions partially packed into a truck and you have to be out because the new renters are coming in? You can't do anything, you are just screwed. This guy should be behind bars. read more

Great guys ! On time, on budget and fun people ! Definitely will hire them again for my next move ..

Eddie and his crew were AWESOME!! We were loaded and on the road in less than 2 hours! I was a bit last minute, only a week out, but Eddie was wonderful to accommodate me. I moved 3 hours away and into a second floor unit with only stairs, in 90 degree weather. Not once did they complain and I could only wish I could move that quickly up stairs while carrying heavy items lol. It only took them 2 hours to unload and that included a little bit of a breather for a break. Nothing broken, damaged, or missing. It was the best money I've ever spent and would call on them again if I were in their area (still). Thank you Eddie and crew!!! read more

Hired Taveres to do a move and storage of fine furniture during construction based on a contractors recommendation and 5 star reviews. The disrespect, damage and loss that was caused goes beyond words. Both owner and his son have a laissez-faire attitude about customer service and are not responsive to any communication. Go visit their facility before you engage them in a move or storage, you will definitely reconsider. It appears that their five star reviews are based on them shutting down their G-suite account every few months because of one star reviews that they are worthy of and starting again. These are really bad actors in the moving and storage business, there are much better choices out there. read more

I couldn't t be happier with a moving company. I grew up a military brat that moved every 2 years. I don't remember ever being impressed with the movers and I had heard horror stories about reckless movers that either lost or damaged many items. The Tavares Guys will not disappoint you! I own a barbershop and needed to move our heavy barber chairs and equipment from our second story location. Our elevator was broken and they had to maneuver around a flight of stairs with our antique chairs. These guys showed up on time, ready to get working. They had us set up in our new location in just a few hours! I know it was hard work but they worked hard and never complained. The opener Manny and his son, Kevin, we hilarious and professional. They made moving our heavy stuff look easy. I could t have been happier. Thanks and if you are looking for a professional and reliable moving company these are your guys! read more

Booked this company for help moving about two weeks in advance of a move. Less than 24 hours before moving day, the company cancelled, leaving us scrambling to find an alternative, which of course was much more expensive since it was last minute. Would not recommend Tavares Packing & Loading. read more

The good news? they showed up and moved me back to Monterey from the Olympic Peninsula. The bad news?, undoubtedly the worst mover I've ever used. The load-in was okay; the load-out was a complete nightmare. Owner, Eddie Tavares, was rude, bullying and misogynistic in his inappropriate comments to me about me and my belongings. The only person who was professional and courteous was his son, who was actually pretty great. Eddie also wouldn't listen to me and ended up making extra work for his crew. The worst part?, he hired too many young kids who had no respect or care for my belongings. I ended up with many dings, nicks and scratches on irreplaceable, antique furniture. My advice?, if you just need crappy stuff moved this company is fine. If, however, you own anything of value I would not recommend them. Not only don't they care about your belongings?, you get attitude along the way. read more

terrific Experience. I needed the move in a week and they were able to accommodate. The 2 gentlemen met me a few minutes and were very diligent and careful with the loading of items. I used Tavares Packing & Loading to move some heavy exercise equipment from upstairs to downstairs. My experience was awesome from the minute I called and spoke with Eddie the owner. Very pleasant and easy to work with. The guys called an hour before they said they would be here and said they were on their way. They showed up right on time and were amazing. Some of the equipment needed to be dis-assembled to move down my switch-back stairs. They brought it all down without touching a wall and even re-assembled the equipment and checked to make sure it was working properly. They were super nice, polite and very careful of my house. I would recommend them to anyone. They are AWESOME and were a joy to work with!!! Oh and like Eddie said.... They were handsome. read more

This company is incredible. They arrived on time. Very reasonably priced compared to others. I was told up front what my cost would be. No hidden charges. I have a lot of stairs and they never complained or charged extra for them. Kevin and Eddie where on site and made sure everything was in order. They treated my property like it was their own. Nothing broke or scratched. I would recommend using Tavares moving to all my friends. read more

We contracted with Tavares Packing and Loading to move us from Pebble Beach to Seattle. And we were glad we did. They were professional, efficient and friendly. Most importantly, they are very reliable. Eddie and his crew arrived on time to pack us up, and arrived on time at our new house in Seattle to unload. Eddie and Kevin gave us a great price, they took good care of our stuff, and and they made the whole process as painless as possible. I recommend Tavares Packing and Loading and would definitely hire them again. read more

One star is too much for my experience with Tavares. I booked them for a small move across town, and on the morning of the move, they didn't show up. I texted, called and left messages, but received zero response. I would expect that if a company had a scheduling error that they would respond to let me know that, but I got nothing. Consequently, I didn't know how long to wait before trying to find another company or just leaving and trying to do it myself (which is what I ended up having to do). When I reached out to other companies to see if they had availability to help, they were equally shocked at the lack of professional etiquette, and two did everything they could to try to find someone for me, but ultimately didn't have the manpower. I would not trust this company with your move, especially if you are on a time deadline. If they no-show on you, you might be stuck renting a U-Haul and doing it yourself. read more

Eddie and his son were awesome! Not just great, but awesome! A full 5 stasWe had a lot of stuff, and they packed our moving truck to the brim. I can't imagine how they were able to pack so much stuff in our 26' truck. They were fun, funny, careful and efficient. I've hired this company for two previous moves, and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Thanks guys! We used Tavares moving again, this time for a long distance move to Washington state. Eddie and his team were awesome as usual, and Eddie always has a joke or two for every occasion. Our stuff arrived safely and efficiently in Washington thanks to Eddie's son, Kevin. Unfortunately for Kevin, a couple of movers he had scheduled to help him unload in Washington didn't show. However, Kevin managed the entire load by himself, and he did it quickly and safely. Tavares moving made what could've been a really stressful and arduous move fun and easy. I will miss you guys! And Eddie, keep up the good humor and energy, buddy! read more

Our daughter had to leave CSUMB under very short notice to due to the COVID 19 issues. We don't live in the area and weren't sure how we were going to get all her stuff moved out. We are incredibly grateful to them for taking care of this, when all we had were phone calls to arrange the whole thing. Outstanding service. read more

This is an amazing family owned and worked moving/loading company and more importantly fun and caring individuals. In my mid 40s, this is the first time in my many, many moves that I have contracted with professionals to help load up the moving truck. No going back now. Eddie, Kevin & the rest of the crew were light-hearted, joked around with us, empathetic with our current difficulties, and felt like long-lost cousins. They were amazingly fast while being careful and packed our truck to the last square inch securely like a 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle without a piece missing. That is the introduction. Thank you Eddie and gang for bailing us out. Despite reserving a truck with U-haul one month in advance for the two days before the lease ran out on our apartment, 3:00 the day before we were moving, I got a nonchalant call from U-haul saying that there were no trucks of any size within 150 miles. After searching all truck rental companies, I located one truck with a diff company and reserved it for the next morning (the only one available for 150 miles); Kevin Tavares and crew showed up at the appointed time ready to go to it....but, when I showed up to p/u the 2nd truck from the 2nd company...no truck. When I spoke with Eddie, instead of being like, "too bad, not our fault, give me the money and see ya" he was understanding and agreed to come out the next day if I could get a truck. With a miracle and help from family, we got a truck from the area were moving to (300+ miles). Tavares came out on Sunday, something that Eddies sons told me he very, very rarely does. Although contracted for two workers, a crew of 5 came out at no extra charge. When I asked Eddie why he made an exception for us, he said, "I believe in God and God told me to." Well, I also believe in God, and I believe in Tavares Packing and Loading. Don't think twice about contracting with this awesome, family owned and worked business. read more

I had scheduled them to come, but when they arrived they did not have packing material to pack my stuff up. They were not willing to go get packing supplies and come back to move me out same day. At this point they left, basically ditching me. So now i had to reschedule everything related to moving after thinking it was going to be done today. Note: they did not respond to my texts asking them to get packing supplies and come back. Wish i could give zero stars and left me very disappointed Edit: in response to their response, they basically left and were trying to get me to go with someone else. All i told them was that i need someone to move my shit, and they showed up without clarifying weither or not they were going to need packing supplies. No response when i asked when they could reschedule me. I know they get good reviews which is why i chose them but they screwed me pretty good by coming unprepared and not clarifying the packing material situation...lesson to be learned for the both of us. read more
