We had a good experience with Central Coast Movers! They helped us move from Monterey all the way north to Humboldt for ~$4,750. They came over to look at our apartment and give us an exact estimate a few months ahead of time. The estimate was a one-line email with just one number and no breakdown of cost or details of any kind, which made me uneasy, but that number really did cover everything, including tax. Many people helped move us (7+ in total, I think) and the people that loaded were different from those who unloaded, so we should have tipped every person individually in cash instead of waiting until the end. Also to note: keep your checkbook or wads of cash handy, because there is a 3% fee to use credit card. That really adds up on a big move! I was not able to get all of my questions completely answered via email (some details were missing), but I was able to phone and get clarification on things easily. x25 large moving boxes were provided for free - I had to ask for them a few times, but we got them fine in the end, delivered right to our doorstep. Central Coast Movers also provides wardrobe boxes for all your hanging clothes, and they load all the clothing from your closets for you, which is so convenient. Our loading day was delayed 1 day due to extremely bad weather, but everything turned out well in the end. They kept me updated on arrival times and stayed in communication during the move. They protected our carpets with long cloths on the ground and nothing of ours was lost or damaged. I can recommend them! read more

2 change of delivery dates, one with a one day notice. Scheduling mistake and "I fell behind' cited as reasons. A delivery that could have been done after 9-7-24 was not completed until 9-23-24. I never did get an inventory that was promised, to verify that I got everything. Time will tell as we continue to unpack, but so far only hardware missing or misplaced. Some damage to furniture and fragile items due to insufficient care. Martin was unresponsive to calls, texts, and emails in a timely manner during the delivery period. A likeable enough of a guy while selling the deal, but he doesn't do what he says he will, after the pack up. read more

This company was contracted to deliver cabinets on behalf of our cabinet company. Without calling ahead of time to schedule, they attempted to deliver with less than 24 hour notice. There was no attempt to work with us on scheduling as it's difficult to get off work on short notice to receive a delivery. Instead the owner yelled at us on the phone claiming that she had called yesterday (when she did not in fact) and attempted to force us to accept a delivery when it would be impossible for us to be there in person. Scheduling and timing is so important in the moving business - why would you want to work with a company that can't take accountability for its mistakes and has the gall to yell at customers? I would recommend any moving company other than this one. read more

This was the worst move experience of my life. I called the company ave was quoted a very competitive price for 3 movers all inclusive. Only 2 movers showed up, almost 2 hours late. I called the boss who insisted that the quote was only for 2 movers and refused to send another guy out. Of course he was careful NOT to email me confirmation as I had repeatedly requested so I had no proof of this massive bait and switch. As if that was not bad enough he had scheduled these same 2 guys to do another move after mine even though he knew they had to move and pack my entire 2 bedroom apartment, a full day job for 3 people. Even the movers we're calling the boss begin him to send out another guy. That other personthey were supposed to help after me did not grey moved, but got their move rescheduled to another day. Cannot imagine how that must have screwed them over. So the move was supposed to be all inclusive, right? THEY RAN OUT OF BOXES. With 2 moves scheduled the boss only let them take a small amount of boxes and the literally ran out. I was stuffing my kids toys into trash bags as running them out to my car. We finally got done at 10 pm, over 12 hours for what would have been a 6-8 hour job with the proper supplies and amount of workers. And they damaged most items of furniture. No blankets or padding, just plastic wrap. Lots of banged corners as dents. And at the end of the day instead of settling in to unpack my bedroom I had to call the boss and argue about the cost, him still insisting it was a 2 man quote. I paid far more than I would have with an honest company that quoted a slightly higher 3 man price. Do not hire these people. Being on the receiving end of many deliveries using Central Coast Movers we are very lucky to have them as a partner. Their policies and procedures are dictated via the manufacture of the the product shipped. Veronica and her team is very dedicated to keeping not only the vendor but her customers happy. I can't tell you how many times thru this pandemic (last couple years) that Central Coast has gone out of their way and exceeded our expectations. Though I have to say it's a 2 way street, I follow up with her and she in turn follows up with me. Sometimes they are very busy and a delivery may have to wait a week but other times they can do a quick turn around. Again, as a consistent client , written communication works for us and there is rarely a hiccup. They do care and they are a good company. read more

While I would like to rate these folks highly, they were rude. First, they called and said they would deliver my product between 7-11, and they did not ask me to call them back in their message. So I got up at 7 and waited. When I called them at 10:40, I was told that because I had not called them back, they went to Fremont, and they did not bother to tell me. Remember they had not asked for a confirmation call from me. When they finally got here, it was after 4, which meant that I had waited for them for 9 hours. The delivery took less than 2 minutes, and the rude driver Martin shoved the paperwork at me and left. Needlessly rude. It would have been nice to get a phone call telling me they needed to reschedule, or to be told that if I did not call to confirm, they would skip my deliver. Not good anymore. Don't use them. BEFORE: I've used them before few years back and they were great: they made the work fun for themselves, wrapping was professional, move was fast and efficient. NOW: I used again few days ago based on past experience even if they're not the most cost friendly = they are expensive compare to other movers. This time they contracted out our move bc ppl showed up we're all different and the owner didn't even show up, and I had to cut two checks. This team weren't as efficient. They did not wrap every furnitures. Our TV's have fingerprints all over it due to it. Other items now have scratches. They just dumped the boxes not thinking we can't walk around the house - when asked to relocate them they showed attitude. Forgot to place platform under our washer.... just cutting corners here and there. We started the move at 8am, ended after 9pm... 13hrs to move a single family home. When I expressed these concerns to the owner, he offered to stop by the next business day to correct some items. NEVER SHOWED UP! I followed up and NO RESPONSE. This company changed and no longer professional. They don't deserve even your penny. 2 star just for the effort the movers put in for 13 long hours. read more

I hired Central Coast movers because they quoted the best price, fit my schedule and responded quickly to my request for quote. I needed 2 pinball games moved from downstairs to upstairs. The games are extremely heavy and awkward and also easily damaged. I've had them moved before in other houses, so I've seen other companies handle them. Central Coast did an excellent job; I think the best ever. They removed the legs and wrapped the games in blankets and plastic wrap to ensure the glass didn't get scratched. The guys were extremely careful going up the stairs and around the corners of the landing. They reassembled the legs carefully. None of my floors or walls were damaged. They kept me informed of their arrival time, arrived on time and finished the job quickly and efficiently. I was completely satisfied. read more

Fantastic movers! Martin called within 10 min after I requested a bid; was very professional, friendly & clear. He was able to accomodate a move with very little notice; confirmed the day before; called and checked to make sure his truck would be able to fit into our driveway...he had looked Google earth and could see it was on a blind curve & steep incline. Incredibly proactive & great planning. He arrived exactly on time; he & both guys helping were polite, cleanly dressed, very quick, and communicated clearly. They showed great care with all items being moved...wrapped furniture carefully, moved boxes without any breakage or dropping; nothing was broken or damaged in any way. The unpacking was quick; carpets were covered very well; all platic wrap removed & picked up; they clarified where furniture & boxes should be placed. I ordered cabinets from Thomasville through Home Depot, and they hired Central Coast Movers as a middleman service to deliver the cabinets the "last mile" to my home. First, the owner, Veronica, and I got off to a pretty bad start. She pre-scheduled delivery of my cabinets for 10/14, so I worked hard to line up all the contractors for installation, since the cabinets were step one in a complex 5-part renovation. On 10/13, I proactively called to confirm they would be delivering the cabinets next day, and she said, "Oh, yeah, those were delayed 10 days." I was obvious very upset that I didn't get a warning, and had to scramble since all of the contractors were planning to arrive the next day. She rescheduled delivery for two weeks in the future. So I rescheduled all my contractors, losing one in the process because he couldn't just wait around, so he took another job. A few days later I checked the Thomasville website, and it showed they had already delivered the cabinets to Central Coast movers on 10/14. Meanwhile, they scheduled delivery to my home on 10/27, so the cabinets were going to sit in their warehouse 30 miles from my home for two weeks. I called to ask to have them delivered sooner, and essentially got laughed at. I heard a lot of excuses - logistics are difficult, they're booked out for weeks, etc. She said that we were already prescheduled for 10/27 so I couldn't change it, and was very dismissive that I was upset. I called Thomasville and Home Depot to see if anything could be done. A rep from Home Depot took on the cause, and called and got things back on track, and the cabinets were then delivered the next day. I think if I hadn't had the weight of Home Depot behind me, this would have ended much worse. So in the end, it worked out okay, and they were delivered only a week later than planned, rather than two, and they were very apologetic. But it was extremely stressful and demoralizing to spend so much time getting things ironed out. read more

I'm surprised with all the 5 star ratings. When we booked them I spoke to Martin. He seemed nice. We spoke briefly about what needed to be moved and got a reasonable quote. On the day of the move, 3 people showed up (not Martin) and they show up without the proper equipment so we had to wait around for Them to come back. Apparently there's was miscommunication and Martin didn't inform his team that we also had our stuff in boxes to be moved as well. They were under the impression that it was just furniture and appliances. And I guess boxes are extra cost. I argued that and they didn't charge me. Now as far as the loading and unloading that's where I had the most problem! We have a VERY expensive bed and they managed to break off 2 pieces that are vital to our bed AND he wanted to say that it was already lose to begin with. Which it might've been but he held onto those 2 pieces like it was there for them to hold onto. My husband was the one that was with them and I was waiting at the new location. Once they get to the new location they start unloading all the boxes. Granted we did have a lot of boxes but they seemed irritated at the fact that they had to unload them. So I had them just load ALL of them into the garage (they didn't stack nicely) and they can bring the furniture to it's right place. Well I asked them to put a certain dresser into our closet and he said he couldn't because the bed was in the way! WELL THEY WERE THE ONES THAT JUST PLACED THE BED INTO THE ROOM! At this point I was already irritated. Now the refrigerator was another ordeal, they didn't know how to get it into the house. They unscrewed our door and the fridge door and STILL couldn't get it in and I WAS DONE! They spent too much time to figure it out and I was getting charged by the hour! I told them to just leave everything in the garage and we will figure it out on our own! As soon as the left, my husband and brother got our fridge inside the house in 15mins. The door that they "had" to remove broke after they put it back. So we had to go to Home Depot to buy new parts! And after the next few days as I'm unpacking I noticed EVERY SINGLE PIECE of our furniture had scratches or broken pieces to them! DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM! read more

He came by the day before the move to check out some art sculptures to see if they needed to be crated and just get an idea of what else was to be moved. The art work did not need to be crated and arrived at final destination without a scratch and in perfect shape, as with everything else they moved. Firstly, I used Martin for a move six months ago and things went smoothly and I was impressed by his help. When it came time to move again, I contacted him and he reserved the date for me. Days before the move I emailed to confirm and ask for an estimate (small local move). I didn't hear back until the day before our move was scheduled, and he said the price was higher that my first move - even though the distance was much shorter (less than a mile) and we'd moved half our possessions ourselves. With only a day to go I had no choice to go with Martin, but asked if we could go for an hourly rate because it would be such a short move. I never heard back. He didn't participate on the day of the move, but his crew did a fine job. They said they had to collect $650 cash once the move was complete. I tried to call Martin and of course he didn't answer my call so I had no choice but to pay cash. The move only took ONE HOUR (and he had said his rate was $150/hour). He has since never returned my calls and messages. Rip off and unprofessional. I would have appreciated a call back at least, if not a negotiated price, once he saw what a small and easy move it was. read more

Martin and his team were amazing. They got to our storage unit in Gilroy right on time at 7am. Our whole house was basically in a 15x10 unit while we were house hunting in a new area. It took them 1 hour to load the whole unit into their truck which included beds, appliances, large pieces of furniture, boxes, etc. Once they go to our new home, it took them about 1.5 hours to unload and place it all in whatever rooms I told them. My husband and I have done our fair share of moving or helping others move and I can tell you, this sure does beat renting a Uhaul, finding people to help you load/unload, borrow trucks, etc!
