Poulos handled the truck loading and driving for our move across the country this summer. I'm in the military, so we've moved domestic to overseas and vice-versa many times, but this is the first time we've had two different companies for packing and driving. The packing company (a local company, not Poulos) did an "okay" job on the first day, but the guys from Poulos absolutely knocked it out of the park on the second day. Brian was at the house ready to go before I even arrived, right at the beginning of the "arrival window" at 0800. He and Cristian started off strong, and as the day went, Nathan and many more team members showed up and seamlessly integrated into the flow (Josh, Octavio, Chris, Emanuel, Luis, and both Davids -- apologies if i missed anyone!). The guys clearly understand the importance of being professional and personable, and everyone was courteous and respectful of our house and property. They worked quickly and efficiently as a team and had everything loaded and ready to ship by 1630. Moving with the military is always stressful, but Brian and his team went above and beyond to make this as easy for us as possible. This was the best interaction I've had with a moving company in 15 years of service. They have my highest recommendation, and will be my preferred TSP in the future. Great job guys! read more

Great moving experience! Immanuel, Carlos, and Ivan were wonderful. They were very professional and friendly and made the moving process as seamless as possible. Immanuel constantly asked if I was satisfied with the process, if I had any questions, and if there were any things I wanted to change/fix. Great team of movers. They're very efficient and very quick at responding. When something goes wrong, they're quick to help work with me on a resolution. They also go out of their way to accommodate my needs with scheduling. We were assigned Poulos Moving Systems for our military move and they were awesome! They packed everything quickly and carefully and I didn't have to worry about a thing, especially with my two toddlers running around. Packing up the truck went even quicker the next day and finished up quicker than was estimated. Moved from Monterey, CA to Tucson, AZ and they got there with great time. Josh and Chris were the only ones unloading the truck and they honestly did it faster than I expected 2 guys to do it. Only thing I would change - if someone has clothes/items in a pre packed plastic bin, don't dump it into a cardboard box or stuff lightbulbs/dusty lampshades in it. I had to rewash multiple boxes of baby clothes to get all the old dust off but it wasn't that big of a deal, just inconvenient and confusing for the unpacking process. I love these guys. They have moved a friend of mine twice and took care of his Fine Art and delicate furniture with care and expertise. They will even move some of the stuff that he has in storage 600 miles South when he's settled. When I needed to store some stuff before our move I looked at self-storage places and then called Pete and he priced one of their vaults for half the price. The crew is really helpful in pulling my vault out and helping me fill it whenever I have a load to add. When we do move the price quoted is extremely reasonable, and I know we'll be well taken care of. read more

Pete and his staff seemed very nice at the beginning, but things got ugly by the time everything was delivered. Initially Pete, the owner, underbid the move job. Other movers I contacted were well over Pete's quote. In hind site it appears that he may have underbid to get the job only to add a substantial cost later. My wife and I did a lot of packing before the movers came. The guys were very pleasant but it took two days to pack everything. They filled the van and we had to leave some things because there was no room. There was no offer to provide another moving vehicle. The disappointment came on delivery. Apparently the van radiator had troubles so the vans arrival was delayed about 4 hours. Unforeseen circumstances are understandable but because of this the crew rushed, taking items out of the van and rather placing them in the appropriate rooms, they scattered them everywhere in the house. In addition, we found that, in packing, they took furniture and other items apart and rather than attaching them screws and pieces to the specific item, they placed them in several generic boxes labeled parts, and scattered them into other unlabelled boxes. The owner originally assured me that the movers would put furniture and other item back together. They did with a few items but they left the majority to me and my wife, both of us over 70 years old. I e-mailed this to the owner over a week ago and have not heard from him: ..... "I'm very disappointed in the delivery service and packing. Many things that were taken apart and packed were not put back together and parts were not packed with the items they belonged to. The guys just gave up and left several parts, screws etc. on a counter. Examples: Our TV was packed in a box with pictures and other such items, but the TV stand and the cords haven't been found yet. The same with our Keurig coffee maker. The main unit was in a box by itself, the base for the coffee cup was in another box and we still haven't found the water reservoir. You may consider in the future you pack related items in the same box or attached to the item they belong to. I liked all your workers except for one who smoked most of the time and did nothing more than fold a few blankets. He was very rude when I ask that the refrigerator be connected. He stated that it wasn't his job. I thought when things were being packed that this was going to be a good move but it's turned out to be a very frustrating experience." We're still trying to find items while going through unmarked boxes as well as the parts that go with them. Beware! If the price is a lot lower than other companies, make sure there are no open ends in your contract that allow additional cost. And if your in the Salinas, CA area, you may want to use another company. read more

I feel bad for not writing a review sooner since Poulos Moving Systems helped me with a local move a few months ago, but better late than never. This was really my first time making a move, and I had Poulos MS recommended. I talked to the owner and he put me at ease about the whole processes and helped me find a time that worked great for my schedule. This is our first PCS as a military family! I was a nervous wreck since I always heard horror stories about the moving and packing. I heard they break things and they never do a good job in packing. I also heard that being reimburse for broken things is like a slap on the face because the price they give you back are peanuts! We met Rene and Josh. They came in our apartment. They were so friendly and helpful. It amazes us how they pack, so fast and making sure everything is wrapped up!! They even kindly asked me, if it is okay for them to pack this or that. There were two incidents that my hubby needed things in the box. Rene had no problem opening it for us. We get it. It is a hassle. Even our neighbor, she was seeing how closely you guys packed and store it in your moving truck. I notice they work hard and take pride in their job. I mean for us, some people need to understand these guys work hard and probably do not make much. But at least, try to be kind makes it easier on them. These guys are criminals. The military contracted these guys for our PCS. They did $4000 worth of damage to BRAND NEW furniture & offered us $465 for it. One of the guys sliced open my couch taking tape off of it & they offered me $12 for an upholstery repair kit to fix it myself. One of them tried to pick a fight with my husband while 5 other guys impatiently called out numbers at me trying to rush me to not verify box numbers. They also did damage to the walls in housing slamming our wood bedroom furniture up the stairs uncovered on a METAL dolly. These clowns are idiots & should be black listed! I needed a small space to store some household items, and found Poulos online. I was confused how that type of storage worked (in vaults), but actually liked it much more than the more common type of self-storage. It's cleaner, and we don't need any locks to secure the vault. As far as accessibility goes, once we need to get to it, we can let them now ahead, and they'll get the vault ready for you. I was very impressed, not only with this system, but most importantly with the friendliness of the staff (Pete & Sergio). I highly recommend this place if you don't need to have 24-hr access to your stuff, since they're open during regular office hours only (7-4:30), and close on weekends. Great place! Nice people! Don't bother. And if you don't have a choice because you're military, write a bad review on move.mil. They helped deliver our stuff and were pretty darn good. They claimed to be glad to come pick up our old boxes. Sweet deal! Not so sweet. We scheduled a date and they never showed despite the receptionist telling us that workers were on their way. Pretty much blatantly lied to. Next day, never showed at all. Left message with owner, never heard a word. Called same receptionist from a day earlier. She claimed to have never heard of us, that we never had an appointment, and that she had no idea when they might be able to pick up the boxes. Is it me or is that just weird? I've used them atleast 8 times for various things. A very dependable company which translates into: 1). On Time 2). Careful with the items 3). Fair with their pricing 4). Exactly the number of crew needed for the job 5). Any questions they can't answer they will get back to you ASAP 6). The workers are always happy to accommodate any little request to help make the job go exactly how you might envision. It's been over 4 years and this review is long over due. Update: The business owner commented on this review to claim he attempted to explain the claims process to me. To date I have still had zero contact of any kind from Paulos. You can lie all you want but the truth will come out, Mr. Paulos. In addition, I can prove my claims with documentation. If anyone doubts my statements below feel free to contact me and I would be happy to do so. If I can keep this company from destroying anyone else's belongings I will be happy. If there is any other way you can have your things moved, use it. The only way you should ever use this company is if they are the last company in the world and you don't have arms to move your things on your own. They packed up my belongings last year and damaged nearly every piece of furniture, broke my TV, and caused nearly $2000 in damage to my motorcycle. Since December of 2016 myself, my spouse, and our legal representative have been trying to contact this company in order to file a claim and they have ignored dozens of emails and phone calls. Yesterday we finally got Pete Poulos on the phone after over 6 months only for him to complain that we contacted him on the phone number he provided to us because it was "after hours." Considering he doesn't answer his phone, return phone calls, or respond to emails how are we supposed to know what his hours are? They can treat me however they want because it was a military move and I am not allowed to sue them, and they know it. I have never dealt with a more disrespectful person than Pete Poulos. I have never had a worse experience with ANY company than Poulos Moving Systems. Here is the conversation with Pete Poulos. Keep in mind we originally contacted him about this issue in mid December of 2016 and this phone call was on 27 June 2017. My spouse's name is Erica: Erica: "Hi my name is Erica S., I've been trying to contact your company to file a claim due to damages." Pete Poulos: "Oh in regards to the claim from Josh S.?" Erica: "Yes that's my husband." Pete Poulos: "That's on my to do list." Erica: "I've been trying to reach you since December of last year." Pete Poulos: "Uh huh. Please know that I am a busy person and it is peak season I only have so many hours in a day, I work 14 hours a day and I appreciate you calling me after hours on my personal phone." Erica: "Well you know I have a deadline by when this can be settled.." Pete Poulos: "No I am fully aware this needs to be accomplished. Again thank you for calling me after hours on my personal phone, I will make sure this is taken care of." Erica: "I am not sure why you sound angry with me, I was given this number by the paralegal who has sent you multiple emails and phone calls regarding this." Pete Poulos: "Well I will move your file closer to the top of the things i need to have accomplished.. you have a great evening." Do you really want to use a company when the owner treats people this way, refuses to return contact or even acknowledge contact? A company that has had a history of poor customer service and damaging the things they are moving? Do not even consider this company, use any other option available. read more

Pete helped me move my 3 bedroom house. I just did a simple load, ship and unload. I was moving only about 5 miles but still, I needed the help. I called Pete and the next day he came and did his estimate. The day of the move he arrived early with an assistant and was ready to go. These guys were great. Bottom line is they were extremely helpful, courteous and efficient. Even though I didn't pay them, technically speaking, to pack and unpack, they still offered to help with a lot of things bigger companies would've left up to me. Pete and his assistant literally were running at points in and out of their truck. Pete actually finished the job -early-, saving me a WHOLE HOUR of work! Avoid! I rented a U-Haul trailer to move accross country. I thought I rented a trailer that was properly maintained. I was wrong. It had bald inner tires which later blew out on the highway in the middle of no where. The trailer stunk of mildew after a rain. Uhaul had the trailer in their system as 2004 model, but the VIN plate showed it as a 1981. It also had the wrong license plate and wrong size tires and rims on the trailer. Poults should properly inspect before they rent out a trailer. I went through credit card dispute to reverse the charges. Avoid!!! read more

Poulos Moving did a fantastic job for me. I moved from Salinas to Arizona and had a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home to pack up and get down there. The price they quoted me was about the same as than another national company that would have kept my things for up to 2 weeks. Poulos loaded my things on a Wednesday, drove to Arizona, and unloaded on Saturday morning. The move was dedicated solely for my items versus the other company which takes as many clients as they can fit on the truck. Poulos was very careful, wrapping couches and bedding, taking legs off tables, and not one thing was broken. They were fast, polite, and very easy to work with. They even moved a large sectional twice when it didn't look good in the first spot. I asked if they would consider moving me again, even if I was in Arizona, and they said yes! Poulos Moving System did a local cross town move in Monterey for me. Pete (the owner) came to my house for a walk through and provided the most competetive price amongst 2 other moving companies with a "not to exceed" price on the contract. You pay for what you get in life, but Pete provided a trust and personable factor that I felt comfortable with hiring his company. Before the move, Wells Fargo was not going to be able to close on time and Pete was willing to be completely flexible and said "not to worry that he would be the one thing that I could count on". Pete has a great crew that have been friends for years and went to high school in Monterey. My move was not the easiest with size of furniture and layout of the house but Poulos Moving System was awesome from beginning to end. You will not find a better group professional, hard-working guys dedicated to do things right. They are great people and were a pleasure to get to know throughout the move. I would not hesitate to hire or recommend Poulos Moving Systems. There are too many unreputable moving companies and movers that are unpleasant to risk finding a better experience. We used this company for our recent move from San Diego back up to the Monterey area. The problem we encountered was that they damaged many of our pieces of furniture because of carelessness with loading and transporting our load. Specifically we had holes and scrapes in our leather furniture and rust stains on our upholstered couch from lawn furniture being laid on top, and a shattered glass table top. Although they were punctual and honored time frames, and seemed competitive price wise, and we like supporting small business, I would recommend not using this company. If you do, buy the insurance, you will probably need it. read more
