Very disappointed with this place. In the communication they send you after reserving a unit it says to "Show up at your facility, DURING OFFICE HOURS [before 6:00pm], on or before your move-in date to obtain a gate code from the manager." What they don't tell you, after planning your afternoon and much effort, showing up about a half our before the office is closed, and they tell you quite unapologetically and coldly and inflexibly and repeatedly "WE DON'T RENT AFTER 5:00pm." They couldn't care less the trouble I went to, and how important it was to me to have the unit accessible (gate open until 7:45pm which is fine). What about basic decency to communicate such a policy and not state misleading info. Maybe I'm crazy, but I just refuse to give them business as much for their lousy attitude as their lousy communication. I'll gladly pay a little more elsewhere, and deal with earlier gate hours, but at least the office staff in Prunedale self storage is terrific. read more

The storage unit grounds are well-kept and feel safe. I would not have had any complaints except, after renting from them for *3 years*, during which time there was a rent increase, I missed one payment and they sent a nasty pre-lien notice. Not only that, they demanded payment *in cash*, forcing me to drive 3 hours each way to come pay them. I'm moving out after that experience, so there should be a new space available in March. I have never needed to rent out a storage unit and so recently when I really needed to I got referenced to come here and so I called and went in and boy did this place make me feel proud to have called them. They were so friendly and welcoming I could not turn down this special offer they had. They gave me a tour and the place was so secure, clean, and organized. Check out was a complete scam. I came in and gave the proper 7 day notice. On the day I moved out I came by at 1:30pm to talk about the check out. The office was closed for lunch. The soonest I could return was after 6pm and they man in the office said I had to check out before 5pm. When I called a few days later I left a message (again no one in the office) stating I have a job and I could not come back before 5pm anytime soon. I never heard a reply but then received a bill for a month that I didn't use the storage! When I complained to the better business bureau they lied and told the BBB that the complaint was resolved. Now they have opened a lien on the space...that they know is completely empty! Wow, shady business - go anywhere else. read more

Whatever you do- I HIGHLY recommend you DO NOT do business with Salinas Self Storage. I bought a lock and key from them upon entering a contract for my storage unit- and the first time I went to use it the KEY BROKE OFF IN THE LOCK. I spoke with a highly un- accommodating and unprofessional woman named Jessica who informed me I would have to pay lock cutting fee and sign a bunch of forms to have the lock taken off- AND purchase a new lock. There isn't even anything in my unit yet. When I informed her this was an unacceptable way to treat a paying customer she said, "well that's the way it is. I don't make the keys." I said I wanted to cancel my unit immediately due to the complete and total unprofessional way they conduct business, I was told I have to wait until Monday and then go through a 10 day waiting period. THERE IS NOTHING IN MY UNIT and THEY SOLD ME THE FAULTY LOCK AND KEY!! Unapologetic, rude, unprofessional, unacceptable place of business!! STAY AWAY!!! read more
