I have been using PG Self Storage since 2012 and have nothing but great reviews. They accommodated me with their largest unit, then we needed to down size and we needed to go to the smallest unit and they arranged it. Each time putting me on a short waiting list making the times between the changes were acceptable. Right now Pacific Grove High School Alumni Association has a unit there. We purposely picked PG Storage because the location was convenient and it was inside with controlled temperatures. We have year books and other important papers that go back to 1888 when the high school was built. The hours to go are 7 days a week. It is NOT 24 hours but we liked that too. No body around in the evenings. Thank you PG Storage and I highly recommend others to store their treasurers there. Pacific Grove High School Alumni. read more

I was selling my house and needed to reduce the clutter so I rented a storage unit at PG Self Storage. They were always kind, helpful, and keep the place in pristine clean condition. Everything went extremely well during my time there...until I sold my house and I wanted to pick up my stored possessions. They told me that I was responsible for paying each month in advance and if I vacated the unit before the end of the month they would try and re-rent it and give me back the pro rated amount, so I signed a document stating that. Then there was a wrinkle in the house sale so I kept the unit for another month, went back and vacated the unity and signed another form. What they did NOT tell me was that they have 2 forms: one gives you money back if you vacate early and they re-rent it, and another form that gives you no money back even if they do re-rent it. The second time they gave me the new no money back form without mentioning that was the case. So after being very happy for nearly a year...I left mad and totally disappointed with PG Self Storage. read more

If you want to store you possessions with filth, bugs, worms, and rat droppings Pacific Grove Self Storage is the place for you. As an added bonus, you will be able to deal with the extremely nasty manager, who, in my personal opinion, is a ripoff artist. When I rented my storage units, I was told that they were conditioned. Well, they may be conditioned, but I personally doubt that the conditioning has ever been turned on. I literally had thousands of dollars of possessions that were stored at PG Self Storage's allegedly conditioned units and that I had to discard because they were infested with bugs, worms, and rat droppings and/or because they were thoroughly rusted and damaged by the high humidity that should have been controlled if the units were really conditioned. I had three storage units at this facility. When I vacated the first unit, the manager told me I needed to give a 30 day notice. However, my contract only required a 7 day notice. Finally, the manager told me that I would receive a prorated refund for my unused rental fee, but he later refused to give me my prorated refund. Moreover, I was planning to vacate my other two units on the anniversary date of my rentals. However, the manager was not allowing access to the units for the week prior to my anniversary date. Despite the fact that the one week delay would have been caused solely by the manager closing access to the units for a week, he insisted that I would have to pay for the extra week. Consequently, I had to drop everything I had planned so I could move out a week earlier than I had to. It is my individual, personal, subjective belief that I was ripped off by this company.  Therefore, it is my individual, personal, subjective opinion and belief, that the company is incompetent, dishonest, and/or unethical.  The foregoing review solely provides my individual, personal, subjective opinions, beliefs, and interpretations. Pros: this is a clean, safe location, conveniently located just off 17 Mile drive. Cons: Management is difficult to work with, unfriendly and doesn't return calls or honor verbal agreements. It's surprising that despite PG Self Storage being independently operated, I received a much warmer welcome at the chain storage center in Monterey. read more

Employee who works in office(PATTY) is rude, unprofessional. The facility is clean, secure and conveniently located. I rented for over 8 years and when clearing out my unit was given such a difficult time by Patty (Lundquist) the woman who works in the office. I was never late with a payment, did not require any special needs. Over the years it was my main goal to try to get her to SMILE....I found it is almost impossible. To be treated so poorly when checking out is unacceptable. She obviously is an ANGRY person. I am now at a location in Monterey on Dela Vina--facility not as nice, but less expensive and the woman in the office is awesome!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES TO BE TREATED KINDLY!!!!! read more

For a nice place like Pacific Grove its too bad the Management for this place is extremely awful. Don't even bother trying to rent a unit. I was lied to every step of the way and they have a lot of BS rules and policies because the Manager doesn't want to do her job. They are in desperate need of some new young personal with Customer Service skills who can actually help the public and do the job of showing and renting the units and not discriminate. I do not rent anything site unseen and I was told I couldn't see it and shown a picture on a map. Your not going to get a tour of the facility here. Your put on a wait list forever and never called. I can honestly say this is by far the worst rental storage place experience I have ever encountered. I wanted to give 0 stars, unfortunately, the app makes you push at least one. By true rating is 0 stars. read more
