This is the second time I've rented a storage unit from Marina U-store self storage. Marie at the front office is simply wonderful. I've known her over a period of roughly 2 years. She is attentive to detail, upfront, and honest. She works hard to get you what you need on time. She is also a warm and friendly person who takes the time to make sure you're doing OK. She'll give you a heads up if there are upcoming changes. At the front desk you can buy supplies such as packing tape and cardboard boxes. They also sell locks for the storage units which are drill resistant. The prices are reasonable. There is a reasonable variety of supplies but it's a small space and they don't carry everything. I was looking for a smaller storage unit hopefully about 5' x 5' and it turns out this of the few places that actually offers such small units. Unfortunately, I was calling on short notice, and they're simply weren't very many units to select from. I recall there were about two units to choose from and both of them had a small leak in the roof. I did not have a lot of time to make a major adjustments like re-packing all my stuff with plastic to protect it from the rain. The best I could do was to put my plastic boxes on the floor of the unit and near the leak. The rest of the boxes just got piled up above the wet floor and I just had to cross my fingers and trust my insurance. It was over a year before I could actually take my stuff out of storage. It was clear the cardboard had gotten wet several times. The boxes were deformed and crushed, some of the boxes had toppled when the supporting boxes beneath them crumpled. Overall I was dismayed. I've managed to unpack about 90% of my stuff now. Dirt had worked its way inside the boxes. Imagine my surprise, when every one of my electronics worked right out of the boxes. The only major damage was a moldy book (it may have been moldy before it went into storage, not sure.) Except for the one book and the cardboard boxes there was no evidence of water damage on my papers or the rest of my books. My advice; use large plastic garbage bags to protect your stuff from water and dirt inside the cardboard boxes. Or buy a few plastic storage boxes which are good for permanent storage and are excellent as the base layer in your storage unit. Finally, you are required to show proof of insurance or purchase new insurance. Rental insurance from State Farm is respected, i've had good luck, dealing with the company as far as claims are concerned, and I find the rates for a rental insurance from State Farm are economical. Homeowners insurance will also work. Always check with your insurance agent but Marie probably knows too. I should mention in the two years I've rented there has never been any evidence of tampering, not even a scratched lock. I was using the locks sold at the front office and I would say thieves ignore them. The storage units are protected by a high fence. The gates are locked at night. I found the new hours are very convenient (but the old early Covid hours weren't quite as nice). Overall, I found the rental rates for Marina U- store to be excellent. It's been a couple of months but it was about $80 plus some change per month. They tend to raise the rates between 5-10% every year. The customer service is superb. The supplies they sell are totally up to the job. so I although I had one or two hair - raising moments I would rent again without hesitation. Five stars. Again. read more

It was the best of times and the worst of times... a tale of two cities. I lived across Reservation and arrived home with my belongings in a storage unit. Which made me look like a homeless person living out of hotels because that is what I had to do. Little did he know that I already knew the who, what, where, when and why. It was fascinating to observe him act/behave it out. As well as how much $$$ I spent. That will be confronted with a staff that doesn't stagger. It's nice to know that there are kind people in the world still. The state of California has eagerly observed this matter. We agree that predatory behavior and practices are in order. We agree that some people are going to be put on the stand and already have. I paid for the unit Lickety split before the lying, thieving scoundrel could assimilate a text message to me that he was not going to pay for it. (As if I asked him to) lol It took me 1second to ensure pmnt from 3,000 miles away for that chicken to cross the road. He definitely did. During my work day, a time zone away I and the Marina U-Store Self Storage processed my Payment in full, naturally. We are premium people and any stolen valor type obviously has no effect aside from... get out of our bay. No one belongs if deception and common UN decency is still in order. Unfortunately, my husband had a negative experience with Marie when we were both trying to seek help and clarification on a reservation we made online. We are first timers and had requested a pickup for a 15 ft U-Haul at this location and were unaware this location didn't offer these (if you book online don't pick this option for this location because Marie won't be happy about it and make it obvious). Marie left me a voice message to let me know she can't help me with my reservation and I needed to call central U-Haul. My husband went in person to receive clarification (again we are new to this experience) and immediate upon walking in Marie sighed and acted like my husband going in was an inconvenience. From the start it was clear my husband wasn't welcomed and he felt this energy. It also seemed like Marie did not want to be bothered on a Saturday. While my husband was there, he witnessed Marie completely switch up her tone to help a female customer which was frustrating as well. Honestly, I would not recommend this location & would not recommend picking this location when doing online orders just to be safe. read more

First off, LOVE MARIE! I walked in a year looking for storage units and she showed us all the appropriate units for the amount of stuff we had. We usually don't like storages so we will iffy but she definitely helped us get acquainted with the system and the storage unit. I've had the storage unit for about a year now, and it's been effortless. Sometimes I forget to pay the bills since I'm running around all over the place and Marie reminds me that it's due so it can get done, which I truly appreciate. She is so kind hearted and she helped me get situated in a time of panic with all the belongings before moving. This place is great it was one of the cheapest storage units when I called 5 other ones and the receptionist Marie was so kind and helpful. She was detailed with the paperwork and explained the different charges. She showed me the unit and when I told her my dad and friend were going to be the ones to load it she gave me the instructions for them how to get there and while they were there, she checked on them and checked to see if there's anything they needed. Very personable and friendly. Karla is the current manager and she is wonderful to work with. She is so kind and helpful and always has a smile on her face. After being a customer here for quite some time paying my usual monthly the storage was great. They even price matched another storage. With that said... Today I called and attempted to make my payment as usual but was surprised with an extra "insurance" charge (either that or provide my own insurance) out of nowhere... I told the the person on the phone I didn't need it and that I just wanted to make my usual payment. He said he couldn't take my payment unless I payed the insurance. So it came down to paying the extra money or pulling my stuff out the storage... I will be pulling my stuff out and never doing business with these people again! It's not even about the extra charge but more about the way they went about applying this charge. Guess the owner woke up one day and deciding to start charging insurance and not notify his customers. Good luck to him and his business ethic. read more
