Had them move a piano for us. Wasn't perfect, but this review isn't for the move. This is to the driver and the owner. Truck drove a bit reeklessly and came in too fast in front of my house. Truck body ramed into my sidewalk tree and broke two branches. Driver never apologized and just said the owner would reach out to me. They knew it happened, but were very nonchalant about it. D&L have done it again! We used them for the second time this weekend when we moved out of the one bedroom apartment they moved us into 5 years ago, to a 2 bedroom in the same complex. I had access to the new apartment ahead of time so I was able to get most of the kitchen stuff and contents of our closets over before they arrived. All the small personal items were done, leaving just the furniture and the chest freezer we have for our dog's food. D&L have a 2 hour minimum so my goal was to get it done in 2 hours so we didn't have to pay more. I might have gone a bit too hard with the preparations, because they finished everything in about 90 minutes. When I called for the quote they said they'd send a 3 man crew so when 2 guys showed up I was disappointed, thinking that it was going to make us go over the 2 hour minimum and therefore pay more. But it ended up being the best possible thing to happen, because these 2 guys got it all done in less than 2 hours, plus the hourly rate was much lower because there were only 2 guys! So it ended up saving us quite a bit of money which was very much appreciated as our new rent is $1000 more per month yikes. They were courteous and nice and dog friendly too! They were disappointed I'd dropped my pittie off at my sister's house before they arrived because they wanted to meet him. They didn't even get annoyed when I realized after they finished that we had forgotten to put all the rugs down under the furniture! They had to move all the furniture to place the rugs and they were so cool about it. I even asked them to rotate one of the rugs when I realized it was facing the wrong way and that didn't even faze them at all. Super cool guys! Great communication, they called me to let me know they were going to be a few mins late which I appreciated (better than the first time we used them when they unexpectedly showed up at 8am instead of 9am). He forgot to give me my receipt which I didn't even realize until he called me that afternoon to let me know, and he even offered to drop it off! Of course, I didn't want to make him go to that trouble so I asked him to just text me a photo of it instead. Wow! What a great company! D & L moved us from San Jose to San Diego last week. They arrived on time, had our 3000 sq ft home packed up on the trucks in a little under 5 hours and had all our belonging delivered and unloaded in our new house 500 miles away by 10 pm the next evening!!!!! So fantastic! The guys worked tirelessly. They were so polite and friendly. They didn't stop for a break until the job was done. Our family room TV unfortunately got scratched in the move but D & L took full responsibility and they bought us a brand new TV (actually the newer and slightly better model than before) which was in our new home within 24 hours. The crew was extremely efficient polite and courteous to the end. Finished faster than expected, but... We had agreed to doubling the travel time to cover trip back (move was 75 miles) Travel time was 90 minutes and so we had agreed to pay for an extra 90 minutes to cover return trip on top of elapsed time Lead tried to add DOUBLE the travel time (with a straight face). No dice. Then he claimed travel time was 2 hours. Also no dice, since i was 15 minutes behind them on the 90 min drive and would have passed them on the highway if they were really averaging less than 40mph. So, make sure you clearly understand the bid and watch the clock. But for the sour finish, they were excellent. read more

To people considering hiring these guys - if your furniture and artifacts make it to your destination safely the first time, you're all set. But if ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING needing remediation happens, don't hold your breath. In our case D&L did not take responsibility and put the blame on us using the escapist response of "I am not responsible for my employee not responding" and "you call us to discuss". It has been six months since my last post/message to the owner/operator - I still have not heard a peep. D&L still has my cabinet door, and I have a patch on my ceiling that is waiting for them to come paint it. This lack of communication underscores the fact that they suck at follow-up. D&L does not care about "implementing feedback" unless the feedback is 5 stars! The blurb in Drew's response to my first post is a typical canned sales pitch, with ZERO actions to back it up. The first time his reason was that "this was the first time" he was hearing of my grievances. He can't use his "I didn't know" excuse any more - he read my review in FEBRUARY, so I'd say he has enough time to address the deficiencies. *** TEN STARS FOR NIKKO, DARIUS & GARY! (the actual movers)*** The only reason I'm deducting a star is because D &L Movers only sent 3 guys (instead of the agreed 4 guys) to move a 4 bedroom house due to miscommunication on the office/admin side. Even though we were moving out of a rented house (no appliances, only furniture) and only moving 1/2 mile away, it still took longer than anticipated. There was no written contract (only a verbal agreement on the phone with Drew) which made me nervous. Also, Leo (one of the owners of D & L??) called me a few days before the move asking if the movers can come later. Even though I said no and wanted them to arrive at the agreed-upon time of 9am, they were late and didn't show up until 10am. I originally made arrangements with Drew on the phone 3 weeks before our move-out date and agreed on having 4 guys do the move. On the day of the move, I asked one of the movers (Nikko) why there were only 3 of them and he said Leo told him the move was for a 1-bedroom (and only 3 men are sent for 1 bdrm moves). Even though my husband was helping, it still took 7 hrs to complete the move (including having to disassemble/reassemble furniture). I think if we had the 4th mover, it would've gone faster since there would still be 3 movers being able to load/unload stuff into/out of the truck. About the moving crew: Nikko, Darius, & Gary -very careful with our furniture, completely wrapped everything and even put a blanket on the front door of the new house to protect it -laid out a red carpet in the hallway/walkway to protect the light beige carpet of the new house :) -they asked where to put furniture that wasn't labeled. since the new house is a 2-story, I appreciated this (so we wouldn't have to move furniture around & have to bring some upstairs) -very efficient, polite, friendly, fast and barely took a break. We practically had to force them to eat lunch (we got them some take-out and they finished lunch in less than 30 mins). TIPS: -pay cash; you get a discount! -tip each of your movers generously. Nikko, Darius & Gary were very efficient! -if you're handy, you may want to disassemble furniture to make the move go faster (if I knew, we would've done this to our 2 toddler beds) -LABEL EVERYTHING that goes into a particular area/bedroom and label which rooms are what - makes for a more efficient move read more

Don't use these guys! Bunch of unprofessional, ex-cons. Very rude to my friend who was helping with the move. Shouted expletives at her for no reason!! Inefficient too, took so long to load the truck and when unloaded the truck, found many broken items.. including lamps that were not properly wrapped, one mirror cracked, and one leg of sofa damaged. Don't waste your money with these guys... should have used Brothers movers (as I did previously, only went with these guys because of availability). Believe me, I'm not talking up or exaggerating this review. This review is strictly from my experience. The guys that D&L sent out to help me move were Miro, Jose, and Solomon. These men did an excellent job, were extremely hard working, and were very friendly. They got all my stuff moved from my old apartment to a new apartment in four hours flat. Unfortunately they forgot to lay out the red carpet/floor runners (which D&L advertises) to step indoor with shoes on during the move in, so I had to vacuum and mop up afterwards. Other points: Drew, one of the owners, provided me details on cost and logistics over email. An email also served as his work-order and schedule confirmation. My constructive criticism would be to have a more official documentation to serve as an order confirmation that has all the cost breakdown and terms&conditions listed in detail. This will give the customer better clarity. I would love the see D&L modernize their website and payment process. A modern website will give potential costumers greater confidence in the professionalism of the company, service & cost details, and FAQs. The payment process at the end was signed on a carbon copy receipt form, and I paid with a check (other payment options include cash w/ 4% discount, or card w/ 3% processing fee). This took a while for the movers to fill out and sign off on the completed work. This could be improved by having the payment processed on a tablet or mobile device equipped with a card reader. Receipt to be emailed. Another option would be to have an invoice sent to the customer via email, and payment processed via a third-party API. Overall, I would highly recommend D&L for your moving needs. read more

I had such a great experience with D&L, I was looking up their phone number on Yelp, and realized I spaced writing this review! Well, let me tell ya. No broken items. No mismanaging or wasting of time. They are throughly organized. Their workers are super professional and respectful. One of the best things the owner did was walk in, introduce the 8-10 guys and each one looked me in the eye and shook my hand. That put me at ease, because I was nervous about being a woman in my house alone with so many tough guys. These guys were total gentlemen and 100% professional. The came in, assessed the situation, organized the items into a logical format, some packed, others moved, but they worked together like a well oiled machine. They knew exactly how to move how and in what order so they didn't waste time. It was a really large move that I believe a smaller less experienced company would not have done as well on. We used D&L movers on July 16, 2020. We booked them after my mom had used them the year before for a huge house move and had an amazing experience with them. We moved from a 1 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor with no elevator. We had LOTS of inherited very heavy furniture. When I booked the movers, they had very helpful advice on how to make things go smoothly and save money. They were clear on pricing and estimated amount of time it would take. We did a lot of work to prepare, and it definitely paid off! Our movers Micha, Miro, and Luis arrived 10 minutes early on moving day. They were fantastic about wearing masks, very polite/personable, and extremely efficient. All of our furniture was well protected, and I don't think we had a single item break or scratch!! They made sure everything was in place in our new house and exactly where we wanted it. They also broke down and reassembled our moveable base for our bed. They were exceptionally quick and precise - no trying to delay or extend the amount of hours for the move in order to make more money (a problem I had experienced with a different company in a previous move). D&L did a great job with our big move from San Jose to Nevada. Moving is very stressful but Drew came out and made us feel good as he explained the process and gave us a good flat rate for the move. On moving day the team was very friendly and professional. They really care about customer service and everything went smooth with no problems. Some things in life are too good to be true. D & L movers are one of them. These guys are absolutely phenomenal. Moved our 3 bed 2 1/2 bath E2E to a two story home in 7 hours! They disassembled and assembled two beds, two couches, one computer table, one dining table and assembled it all back - as is! None of the items broke or got damaged. Packed some of the remaining stuff around the home themselves. Covered the floors and stairs in both the homes to make sure nothing gets soiled. The guys are very professional and courteous. Every interaction I had with D&L leading up to and during our move from the San Jose to Sacramento area in August was extremely positive. From the initial quote to adding last minute packing services to dealing with a wrench in our plans at the 11th hour, Drew and Leo were extremely communicative, respectful, helpful and professional. Being pregnant and having a toddler I realized I needed last minute help packing up our house -- no problem! With just 2 days notice, Drew arranged for a team of 4 women to come to my house. They were all very courteous and asked good questions and got the job done in 4 hours! Drew and Leo were also very transparent -- we considered a logistically complicated path involving picking up a grand piano along the way, and Drew said that due to the logistics and resources required he would prefer we kept that a separate process to ensure it could be done right. I appreciated that. The day before moving day there was a slight schedule and team change on their end, and I got a polite call from Leo explaining that while his team could arrive early at the original time if desired, he would prefer to be there at the same time to ensure everything ran smoothly and if I could be flexible, he could arrive an hour later. No problem. While moving furniture down our stairs, one of the workers slipped and the furniture scraped off a chunk of paint in the stairwell. Leo immediately pointed it out to me and offered to come back the next day and paint / repair it himself, which he did. This made me feel good since we had just sold our house to very nice buyers for a handsome price! The review is long overdue because D&L moved us in May, but with organizing the new house, I just found the receipt and thought it was better late than never to write a review. We had Nikko, Mike, and Rob move us from our apartment in Sunnyvale to our new home in Santa Clara. I have moved several times in the past 10 years so I know a good move from a bad move, and this has been our best move yet. The guys showed up on a time, worked hard, and got me out of my old place and into my new one a lot faster than I had expected. They were also friendly and got all the right furniture and boxes into the right rooms, so there was no additional moving on my part once they left. They also took good care of my home - not scratching floors or scraping walls or doorways. A 500 star review would be more accurate! As the controller of a mid-sized law firm in the Bay Area, I was solely responsible for all aspects of moving our firm to a new location. I am so grateful that my commercial realtor referred me to D&L Movers as they turned what I thought would be the most daunting part of our relocating, into the smoothest, most worry-free and actually, yes, enjoyable, of all my tasks. From the initial introduction to Drew Sanchez (one of the two owners) via e-mail from my realtor, Drew was quick to respond to the e-mail and then placed a follow-up phone call to schedule a walk-through to provide an initial estimate. The in-person meeting with Drew I will describe him as extremely professional, personable, knowledgeable and accommodating to the needs of our firm and the fact that I did not have all the answers at that time as to what we would or would not be taking with us versus tossing.
