If you follow someone into the storage area without entering your gate code, you may not be able to get out. The area of town is ok. Storage is month to month and special pricing is for six months. The units I saw were not 'clean' but it was just a matter of sweeping them out and spraying insecticide. There was rodent poison in the unit. My unit is 9 ft tall. CONS: Even though prices seem to be better than other storage facilities, there's a catch and hidden fees. Insurance at $12 per month is mandatory and there's a $22.00 administration fee. So even though they sometimes run specials such as 'first month free', it actually isn't free. It cost $34 for the first month. ($22 admin + $12 insurance) Corporate advertising on the internet is not reliable. e.g. they advertised a 10 x 10 but what they really had was 2 five by tens side by side. This means you need 2 locks and some large items might not fit. Same thing with the 5 x 10. It was actually 2 five by fives side by side. They also listed some units as being 'Outside/Drive-up access''.When I got there, many of the advertised specials were outside but you couldn't drive up to them because they were inside and down a hallway. The excuse I was given was 'we have 500 storage facilities all over the US and can't keep track of what's available'. However there was a computer in the office. All they need is something called a 'database'. Also their website doesn't make it clear that you can't rent a unit unless you pay an additional $12 per month. This kind of reminds me of the bat and switch advertising that was extremely popular before we had internet. There is an asterisk beside prices but I couldn't find the disclaimer. The next day I found it in super tiny light grey lettering at the bottom of the page. It says, 'Other restrictions, taxes and fees may apply.' So when comparing prices always ask about hidden fees and costs. Penny could not guarantee some units were not leaking. I saw roof damage above my unit. All she could say was, 'the previous tenant never complained about it' and there were no water marks on the floor. She sold me a plastic cover. It was very difficult to impossible to work with a large piece of plastic in a 5 x 10 enclosure. I'm not sure if the plastic will make it better or worse in the event of monsoon rains entering the unit. Also a drainage trough runs along the edge of my unit which means water can and does enter the units. Even though there are 'regular prices' listed, it is unknown how much prices will go up after 6 months. Time will tell. I like the location of the unit Penny gave me. I covered my cardboard boxes as best as possible and hope they'll be ok.

Plus, it being late March I decided to finally take down the Christmas tree. What can I say? I like the "just right" glow it adds to our living room. I'm a romantic at heart. This facility is in a great location in Central PHX though it is a tad difficult to find as the address says Camelback but there is no signage visible from the street. This place is at the back of a huge mall, and can only be seen from 20th St E as you approach CB from the south. Being new to the city it took me a 1/2 hour to locate it and I had to ask a friendly Postal worker, though now that I think of it, one should be careful about approaching postal workers as they did inspire the phrase "Going Postal" and also this is the Guns-R-Fun state! I am a hold-out on the whole Smartphone craze and I have to admit it would've come in handy. I never pay more than $50 for a phone as I tend to lose/drop-in-toilet/forget in swimsuit pocket/smash in fit of anger- my mobile phones. I also didn't have their number with me, as I tend to be impetuous and rash, and rush off without planning, much to my annoyance of self. Though my "Wallet-Watch-Keys-Phone" pre-departure checklist is helping with this problem. Moving fwd I will add "Directions" and perhaps "Phone Number" to that list. There is a huge sign above the parking ramp down to the parking and office. It is an underground storage facility which adds security. It is climate controlled. Quite clean inside with new-ish walls/doors. I did notice that the place smells a bit like BO and typical a-million-different-stacks-of-peoples'-junk mixed with a soupcon of failed co-habitation and a dash of Broken Dreams. Not unpleasant but noteworthy. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and they offer the first month for $1. There is no minimum rental period you just pay it monthly and give 48hrs notice to vacate. I believe they pro-rate the days and refund unused monthly portions. Each tenant is issued a gate code which is entered into a touch pad that will open the doors and open the elevator. The hours are decent and if you didn't remember to buy a lock they will sell you one. I like this storage facility. So I'm off there now to visit the Tree!

Made offload (working alone) much more difficult than a level unit (like avail on other rows). Major hassle trying to brace dolley with lifting heavy stuff down to it. Then bending down to lift dolley over 2" high lip at entrance of unit. NOT DISCLOSED. 3. You could offer discounts on that row and plenty people will go for it. I would not as I'm working alone. 4. Their were avail units on level ground. Instead of renting them first then the units with a hill (and floodwater) the mgr told me the automated system picks the units to be rented. 5. After doing their survey they had mgr contact me and offer to ket me move. HOW DOES GOING THRU THE HASSLE OF OFFLOADING ON A HILL NOW INSTEAD OF WHEN I MOVE OUT HELP? INSTEAD I'D HAVE TO RENT A TRAILER, DO AN ADDITIONAL LOAD UP AND OFFLOAD. WHY NOT OFFER ME A FREE MONTH! TRUST ME I'D RATHER PAY AND HAVE BEEN PUT IN A LEVEL UNIT WITHOUT FLOOD WATER IN FRONT. 8. My storage in on the underground level and it SMELLS of BO BAD not to mention I can't access my OWN storage most of the time because THE HOMELESS people across from me just have all their stuff laying around. The WORST part is at night they WAIT for you to open the gate to leave so every time I leave they RUSH next to me it's scary I've almost called the police because they literally rushed to the gate as I was trying to leave one night.
