*PLEASE WATCH VIDEO AND PHOTOS* I can't believe this place gets high reviews maybe for a friendly front desk lady but that is absolutely it. I have had a unit here for about a year and a half and the price went up over 4 different times without any warning. Please believe all the other reviews similar to mine. On top of them taking all your money the unit isn't even worth it unless you want most of your prized possessions and irreplaceable pictures to be eaten and desecrated with rat piss and poop. I have pictures I found dead and live rats. My stuff smelled so bad that I almost puked. I had a lot of precious things of my late husband that are completely ruined and I am just devastated. Just after a few months their rate increased by $77.00. That is a HUGE increase just after a few months of decided to use this location. I had NO IDEA they ran their business practices like this. It's somewhat like a Bait & Switch tactic that shady companies use to get your business before finding out the truth. They kept raising the price. First after 3 months then again after another 3 months. Went from $150 to $170 to over $200. Plus depending on the unit you have, sometimes there are big trucks in the way. Overpriced unfortunately. Should have left sooner. read more

I have been a loyal customer and had my unit for over 1 1/2 years and out of nowhere during a pandemic when I am making less money and costs have increased so much they DOUBLED the cost of my unit. They said I am not eligible for online pricing as I am not a new customer. New customers beware they do not have a cap on increases and frequently do them without notifying you. They will double the price out of nowhere to take advantage of customers during one of the worst times in history. I should have stayed at my last location I highly regret moving my things in here. You can find online pricing at smaller companies that will not increase like this FYI. Do your research and don't make the same mistake I did. Apparently this location is notorious for rent increases out of nowhere and their customer service and management doesn't care. Run far away! read more

CROOKS!! DO NOT RENT HERE. I have endured 5 rate increases over the past 18 months (from $293 to $388 - 32%) without any notice!!! I see several others had the same complaint, should have read Yelp before renting there. To make matters worse, their customer service department does not seem to care, nor will they do anything to notify you of rent increases!!!!! I (like Dave L) went in because of advertised deals on the first months rent only to find out that all of the 'selected' spaces that the offer applied to were unavailable. I should have known then what crooks they are. FINALLY able to get my stuff out of there so I won't have to endure any more of their arbitrary rent increases. read more

My friend and I made a reservation of a 10'x10' unit at the Livermore facility via Extra Space Storage. We completed the reservation, #1001690295, and paid $10 as a deposit to guarantee the price and availability. My friend went to check out the place today (July 26, 2013) as the move is scheduled for tomorrow (July 27, 2013). However, she was told she would be getting two 5'x10' units (separated by hallway). When we inquired, the Assistant Manager said that these are what's available since we got the promotional price of $108/mo. I escalated the issue and spoke to the District Manager Adrian who quickly offered for $10 refund and said that in order to get a 10'x10' unit, it will be $132/mo. First, we went through the process to complete the reservation is to ensure we get a 10'x10'. If we want two 5'x10' units, we should have reserved it that way. Second, everyone we spoke with kept saying that we can always pay the full price of $132/mo to get a 10'x10'. That's what the reservation is made for exactly. It certainly feels like a bait-and-switch. Do not do business with Extra Space Storage. If we did not happen to check out the place today, we would be stuck with two units or end up paying more (because they wouldn't honor their own advertisement / pricing) when we get there on the date of move!!! read more

Public storage had units for $1 for the first mo, however I came back to Extra Space because of the customer service. The have two ppl there that do a very good job. TERRIBLE BUSINESS ETHICS !!!!! I went in here since it was near my home in Livermore that I was moving out of. I went here because they offered a bunch of deals on the firsts month rent. I have rented here before from the Pleasanton location and the experience was night and day different. I went in and prices have went up since my last visit which was to be expected as it was over 3 years ago. I felt the unit was pricey at $235 a month but the near by location really helped so I did it. Upon going to sign all the documents they jammed me up with having unit insurance ? for around $60 a month !!!! I assumed like last time I rented from them that it was optional as its my choice to have my belongings insured. Boy was I wrong, the lady said it was a mandatory requirement . I reluctantly did it and figured I would call my insurance company after I left. I called my insurance and they got me coverage for $12 a month, so figuring since I just left 30 minutes ago they could cancel the insurance and I had my insurance company fax them the coverage as well. I called and the same lady said there was nothing she could do about it, I was upset but being currently amidst of a divorce you get used to people bleeding you dry for money so this didn't feel any different. I told them to cancel the insurance moving forward and I was told it was done. They had called me today because my payment was a few days past due, So I figured I would pay them on the phone since they called. The same lady I spoke to before gave me my total and it was $330 !!!! for a small storage unit ! She said that they were charging me a $39 late few for being a few days late and also they were still charging me for that outrageous insurance plan from them !!!! Even though I had my own coverage !! Which was sent to them !!! The lady told me I would have to go in and cancel it as that's the only was they can do it !!! I explained to her that I work most days during the hours they are open and can't make it until after , and on top of that they had told me that they would cancel the plan last time I called. She said only in person works. I AM SOOOOO BEYOND DONE !!! if it was not for the hassle of moving I would take my things out and pay more to go somewhere else, thats how bad they are. I have paid $120 for double insurance coverage I DO NOT need and I seriously doubt it is required. Also a ridiculous $39 late fee. They stress on you for google reviews .... no worries I would be happy to leave them one just like this review. After being a steady renter at the Northfront Rd. facility for over 9 years, I can only say that if you rent here for even a short length of time, you can expect ongoing, unjustified rent increases about every 9-10 months! After the most recent rent increase (another $35 per month!), I finally decided enough was enough, and I moved my stuff over to Will-Store Super Storage nearby. Far-better rental rates (larger units for less money); far nicer people on their staff (they wave hello to me when we cross paths), and promises of no rent increases at least for the first couple of years... this all works for me! This is the WORST storage facility I have ever had. The assistant manager is RUDE!! Her name is shayna or something. She is the last straw on a long list of complaints. When we first started renting here, our 5x10 unit was 59.99 a month. That was about a year and a half ago. Now it is 89.99, and we were just informed it was going to go up to 100 a month. We get calls every month, 3 days before our rent is due so they can remind us our rent was not in early. We have not once been late on paying, plus we have tried to get on automatic payment with them, for some reason they couldn't make that happen They then threatened that they were going to auction our stuff off... We will be moving out in Monday. read more
