I'm not sure why there are such bad reviews of this location, I had a extremely good experience here. I needed to find a storage unit, and I found one here with an awesome promotion. I got the (5x10) unit, and it is only $62 a month. When I arrived, I was greeted by Marc & Jessica. These two were extremely professional, and helped me with all my needs. I had to pay around 50 out the door for the unit, due to insurance, a lock, and admin fee's. Honestly though, these two made me feel very welcome, they were nice, and basically made my day a lot easier. They give you a tour of the unit before you buy it, just to make sure that this is the unit you want. I will be a customer of theirs for a long time. Thanks again Marc & Jessica!!!! read more

Total SCAM !!!! I had units in two of their locations. The rent prices they offer are just a scam to get you in. Then 3 months later you get a big rent increase. At this location unit E014 and F013 both 10x20 both went from $262 to $353 within 3 months Don't fall for this scam like I did. Also they have a lot of fake reviews on Google. Most of their 5 star Google reviews are obviously fake as they have the same format. read more

Roy at this location was extremely helpful and this review is about the company as a whole - not this specific location. First, there was a massive price increase (not just the increase after the promotional offer) on March 1st. I am renting the smallest unit available and am now being charged $136/month!!!!! But it's on the website for $61/month - not sure if that's promotional, but I am fuming that I am being charged DOUBLE!!!!!!!!!! I tried for hours today to handle my account. I could not get into my account on the website, I tried to contact customer service with the 888 number, but you cannot get a live agent no matter what. I tried the chat option, and it kept telling me to write back during regular business hours. Mind you, I WAS!!!! I kept trying on the chat and finally reached an agent - they disconnected me!!! Which just infuriated me more. I spent another 20 mins trying to reach them again via chat before I reached someone. Even then, they were barely helpful. Absolute pitiful "customer service" I've spent most of my day dealing with this and am furious. This process was so ridiculous! I gave the extra star because Roy was great! She is super nice and very caring lady not rude, but they discriminate on pitbull, most public storages have a first months free promotion going on and when I went to go rent the storage unit I was never told about a promotion but then when I go onto the Internet, there is a promotion. so they do not at all appreciate customers spending their hard-working money, renting a storage units at their property. they do not allow their customers to be at their storage units for longer than an hour and if you do that can and will tell you that you are only able to access to your storage unit while office hours until further notice but last night lease, they do not allow at all their customers to use their power plugs if you need to charge your phone, anything radio, anything. I love the actual units, the ethics of the management is very customer relations defunct. I realize "Company Policy" might dictate charging top dollar per unit as the inventory dwindles, so I'm not speaking ill of the employees who do a good job. Some call this gouging ... leveraging supply & demand I know what I'm talking about, I currently rent 3 units. There is a $70 difference in price from my #1 unit and my #3 unit for the same size. I'm paying the inflated cost because I have very few options, when I complained, I was told their policy was similar to the airlines, as the flight fills up, the prices go up. I was hoping for the family plan, the one where after renting 2/3/4 ... units, you get a little price break as a sign of loyalty & appreciation, and frankly to encourage the clients not to be in a hurry to vacate. Regardless, I'm paying their rates every month, and the units are keeping my inventory protected, so it's a partial victory. read more

This was my first time using a rental facility so the entire experience from renting a space to accessing it, to working the locking mechanism, etc was a bit overwhelming...but then came Marshall. He could not have been better!!!! In this day and age when any customer service is rare, he reminded me of how it was a few decades ago when employees took the concerns of their customers to heart and did EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to make the situation great. Off site personal storage is a margin game and no one plays it better than Public Storage. So a few things to think about if you are looking to rent space here: 1) Sign up and reserve on-line. You can usually get an on-line rate/deal. Fill in everything so your account is ready when you actually go to the facility. 2) Go to the facility and complete your check in before you move in. It will be much more simple. 3) These guys are rabid about your "check in reservation time", it's ridiculous....as if you know when you moving fan is going to be full...exactly...on the spot. They say you can call and let them know if you are going to be late or early. That's completely dishonest, i called, let them know I was going to be 30 minutes early, I have the phone log and everything. When I got there, nope, "I don't know what you're talking about" you'll have to wait till 11. Sat there for another 30 minutes with my Uhaul waiting for 11 to roll around. 4) Get your renters insurance before you go. The don't tell you this when you reserve but they require it so....if you want the lease you have to sign on to their insurance, pay for the full month because you don't have a copy of your homeowners or other renters insurance with you. ITS A COMPLETE SCAM, most ALL Homeowners in the State of CA by the way cover off site storage. 5) You have to buy a lock from them.....they don't tell you that either. read more

I made my reservation online, entering in a credit card so I thought i was official and good to go. It was moving day, and when I showed up to Public Storage with my moving truck, I was told that my reservation was cancelled because I was 2 hours past the time I had estimated I'd be there when speaking to a rep a few days before. It's moving, of course I'm late! I thought it was just so they know roughly to expect me, the local rep never said that if late and unreachable for an hour or two, I'd lose my reservation. And why did the website have me enter a credit card if I could lose my reservation so easily. Obviously it's not binding if you don't show up on time, and they don't charge you and hold your space. Lucky for me, they had more spaces available, but the horrible thing about losing the reservation is that the new space wasn't eligible for the $1 first month promotion that I signed up for when making the reservation. I ended up paying full cost for the first month, instead of the deal I expected, thus costing me an extra $100+ that day. Moving is expensive and my funds were a bit tight, but I didn't have much choice so I paid it to get the space. Marc, who was the rep there at that time, though not really apologetic about this (just said that he had tried to reach me by phone), was very helpful in getting me a new space and getting me through the process quickly. He showed me a couple options, gave me the rundown, and was a nice guy. The location has a good layout, it's a well placed location (right off of Santa Rita), and Marc was very helpful. But 3 stars because no one told me to call ahead if I was likely to be a bit late, and therefore I spent a ton of money that I wasn't expecting to. I assumed that as long as I was there before closing, than all is good and they have a credit card on file to know that I'm serious. Call ahead if you want to keep your original deal! read more

Any questions or concerns I had he addressed them and he made my moving process very easy for me. He checked on me periodically to make sure I was doing fine, and even gave me water! :). My experience in similar to others who have posted about this place. My recommendation don't go there. You will be leaving normal reality and entering Public Storage Land, a place that is more like like the Twilight Zone and they make up the rules on the fly. My story is simple, I rented a space to park my large bread truck by the month. Two days later my father, who I used as contact information, is receiving panic phone messages about a document that was aparently unsigned. So I contact Public Storage and in reviewing my documentation I find my license plate had expired two days earlier. The manager then tells me I'm not allowed to bring it on the premises. So I replied no problem just give me a refund as I had never parked there one time. We don't give refunds. So let me get this straight you're not going to allow me to bring my vehicle into the compound and you refuse to give me my money back for the services that you refuse to deliver? Believe me this is the short version and I was dealing with a manager there who was treated me like I was some sort of kid in the second grade. After going rounds of almost incoherent conversation with her continually trying to demean and insult me in a degrading, unprofessional manner, I said forget it I'm just going to deal with your manager. To which she scoffed haughtily in disgust. I got a hold of the manager we agreed to refund my money for the days I hadn't used the space, even though it was used up just dealing with them. And the weird part is I actually had to pay them an additional half month to get my partial refund back because of the way their system works. Also, regarding any complaints I had about the customer service problems, that they seriously had, were just met with silence. Obviously trying to deny any accountability. I was just going to let this whole thing go but the final salt on the wound was after settling with them a month later I receive an envelope in the mail from a collection agency claiming I owed them 35 more dollars. A nice little final going away present from the degrading and pathetic manager. If I could write this place at minus 10 Stars I would. My advice is don't even go there. Customer service is the last thing they want to provide and you're dealing with people who I believe have mental illness problems. And that's the up side. So Shane asked my husband for a review on Yelp for the location... here's your review after my phone call with you this morning.. So the stay with public storage was fine... actually had a great experience setting up the unit... no issues throughout minus the huge jump of $49 per month a couple months back (we were not on a promotion, so we were baffled by the huge price difference). That was fine, we paid it... my husband and I got a rental home and closed out our unit on 12/7, after making a payment on the 1st like we were supposed to... little did we know, we would not receive ANY refund for the remainder of the month! Seriously?!? So you can rent out the unit to another customer and take all of my money even though we have removed everything?!? Sounds like double dipping public storage... thanks for making us aware of places we will never use again or recommend to ANYONE. So sorry that we pay our bills on time and now we are being penalized for it! This is such bs that you take my money (+insurance) for an entire month, only to possibly rent to a new customer that same month and make more money! Yesterday I went to get a 10x10 with the nice district manager who happened to be working that day. He had some difficulty with the lock when we first tried to open it and he forgot to slide the bar over. There is basically a 4 step process to open and lock the door I have discovered. My daughter and I went to place a few items inside and couldn't open it after several attempts. I even thought I had the wrong unit. So asked my daughter to see if she could find some one. A guy Shane the manager who lives there came over and told us you have to put it sideways and step on the door and slide it. It opened! Then we needed to lock it and couldn't get it to lock. We had the get him to help us again to lock it. He seemed short and irritated but helped us. We returned with a 2nd load of items and it was getting close to closing time. It was 8:50 and closing time was 9. I tried several times to open it using the sideways slide method and it wasn't working again. I asked my daughter to get him a 3rd time. He came out in a rage! He said we were disturbing his he and family and why couldn't we figure it out. He said "What are you, stupid?" And walked away without helping us open the door. Mind you my car was full and I'm panicking the gate won't open because it's almost 9. I said aren't you gonna help us? He said figure it out. He said if you're not out of here by 9, I will call the police! So I said something I normally would not say but he deserved it and I said fuck you, you fat ass and told him I was calling his boss! So he gets on the phone and calls his boss lying saying I was using obscene gestures. I didn't use any gestures as I was holding the lock and keys and there are cameras so he lied. My daughter and I are afraid of this man and of what he may falsely accuse me of. Why didn't he just show me one more time how to open and lock the door? This could have all been avoided. He shouldn't be living at the facility if he isn't willing to help out the customers. I was panicking as it was a little after 9 and worried he wouldn't let me out. They are willing to transfer me to another place but I just loaded 20 bins. Very disappointed in their customer service. read more

Lets not forget about them raising the rents for the units here every year. Alija in the office can seriously care less about you. Shane was able to accommodate me and quickly made out the paperwork even as he was helping another customer so I didn't have to keep my movers waiting. The unit I got is clean and the right size with the first month free. The manager, Judy, was extremely helpful and found me a space near my other unit at a great rate which I had reserved on-line. She was very knowledgeable, courteous and polite and a pleasure to work with! While I am not a fan of Public Storage's policy of not pro-rating rent when vacating a unit, Judy clearly explained their policies so that I now know that to avoid being charged a full-month's rent I need to be out of my unit and checked out by the office prior to the office closing time on the last day of the month or the full month's rent is due and payable on the first even if I'm only in the unit one day during the month. I don't like this policy but I'm clear on it now and I will plan accordingly when I need to vacate a unit. I've rented multiple units at this location and have not had any problems. Update: After they fixed the initial situation and asked that I write, for them, a nice review, they sent me a card thanking me for my patronage and stating their mission of the best customer experience possible... and that they were increasing my monthly rate... ............... 20%!!!! (There's a reason I suffer from limited trust.) PS - the original dilemma I skipped over was that they had cancelled my reservation. When I got there to pay up and move in, they'd (for no reason) cancelled my reservation and as the suggested remedy, open a new one at the current higher rates... and let corporate take up the matter about correcting the monthly rate...eventually. The local facility was powerless to correct their error and the extra amount I had to come up with, last minute was called a "minor inconvenience" by them. Original post: I am one of those people that suffers from a limited amount of trust towards anyone whose living depends on the contents of my wallet (cobwebs). A storage unit, seems like a straight forward, simple enough adventure. Like anything else that's simple, it can get complicated. It did for me at the Santa Rita PS facility. I won't get into those details because I'd rather focus on the response of the people involved. Melody and Bella remedied the complications with diligence and genuine customer service. For that, I tip my hat to them (by way of way of four stars). Do I now trust Public Storage's corporate advertising strategy, pricing policy, or their hot-line reps ability to read me back my fee break-down? No. But, I do trust both Melody and Bella to do what they can to rectify any situation and follow through as professionals, expeditiously and genuinely. read more

Melody whom I signed up with was polite and helpful. When I signed up there was a promotion for the 1st month of a unit. But in the end there are $22 of fees. With mandatory insurance ($9) and a lock ($18) all of it added up to a bit over $50 for a month for the smallest unit possible (around 5x5 ft), which is fair. The unit was in good condition and clean, so far nothing to complain. Make sure you write down details about the auto-renewal policy, if you miss the cancellation date you'll have to pay for another full month. read more

I tried to contact corporate before writing this review but I had no luck, so here goes. I paid a lot for this unit, the rent went up during the year and a half I had the unit. I paid about $20 a month is insurance. Then, upon move out, my unit was infested with cockroaches. Insurance was extremely hard to get a hold of and I ended up making a claim with the wrong company even though I used information on my contracts. I had to throw out more than half the contents in my unit and pay for an exterminator. This means the size of the unit I had been paying for was pointless... Had I known I had to throw so many things away, I would not have needed this size and could have saved money monthly. After losing out on hundreds of dollars, insurance awarded me $84 when I could have received a max of $150. Their insurance provider sucks. The people who work there are rude, and one employee even charged me for a new mattress bag when I discovered the roaches. I am not pleased with how difficult the entire process was, the lack of help from staff, and how impossible it is to reach corporate. Do not rent a unit from this company. I wasted my money and my time. read more

She won't waste your time, she will get you exactly what you need and will help in every way possible to ensure you are a happy customer. I am a repeat-customer, and it is mainly because of Melody's professionalism. The venue is situated near both 580 and 680 freeways in Pleasanton CA. The venue is clean and well-kept. The property fronts onto a main street but the back of the property lies against a footpath/stream which, in the dusk of the evening, could be construed as a bit creepy, but the place is well lit and has security cameras. I have used public storage many different times in my life and at many different locations and always had a good experience until 3 days ago when I rented a storage unit here. They forced me to use their insurance until I proved that my AAA homeowners insurance covers it. I asked them if I could send my boyfriend in to change it the next day to give them the proof and get the insurance money back and they said yes. The next day my boyfriend went in as agreed upon to make the change. Not only did they tell him that he could not come in and that I had to be there but that now he no longer needed proof he could just tell them it was covered and that if I came in the next day I could get the full refund of the insurance. So today, day 3 of this I went in to sign the papers and get my refund of the insurance money and the same guy who has been there for all the three interactions tells me that I will no longer get the full amount of insurance money refunded to me, only a prorated amount! Not only will they not put it back on my card, but they will mail it to me in a check. What a disaster! My hope in posting this is that someone from management sees it and encourages better training in the knowledge of their policies so that the employees actually know how the place of business they are employed in operates and they do not mislead customers in such an agregious manner. I also hope that future customers read this and arm themselves with the knowledge that they might also be so completely mislead. At the next opportunity I have to move my belongings to a different storage facility I will be doing so immediately. read more

I rented storage units from this location more than two years. The move-in process was all made very simple, but the move-out was a bait and switch operation. Was originally told I could move out at any time, per the month to month contract, and settle up a pro-rated amount once everything was removed from the unit. On move-out, was informed this was a "courtesy" offered to renters in the past and now rescinded. Pay up please! What I call it is breach of a verbal contract. Local manager (Shane) and district manager were nice, but offered no help. Call to corporate was answered by a very rude and condescending individual who didn't take me seriously. Public Storage has normalized this fraud and incorporates it into their business practice. My advice, stay away! read more
