Don't get me wrong the staff is nothing short of great to work with. I just believe their pricing practice is absolutely ridiculous. They lure you in with a really decent rate as long as you prepay for 4 months. Ok great. Come renewal time guess what? They jack up the rate 50%. Can you prepay another four months at the current rate? no you can't. I went from a hair under $200 with insurance to about $300 - So you are either stuck paying 50% more (after introductory rate) especially if you have a bunch of junk or you move out. I chose the latter as I do have a truck and I was able to get a shed in my backyard. This may be the practice in the industry, but personally it feels pretty scummy to me. I'm only giving 2 stars as the staff were pleasant and easy to work with. As long as you know what you are getting into things should be fine. Overall a 4.5 out of 5, had to dock them half a point since they have increased the rental fee for the storage unit already. While you can rent a storage unit in person, it's actually easier and cheaper to rent it online. And overall it's been a pretty satisfying ordeal concerning renting the unit and to me imo, and it's in walking distance of my house..it does feel a tad claustrophobic when you are trying to turn around and exit the place. Currently there are like usually 2-4 cars or vehicles parked in the parking areas between some of the units. I recently rented a space from this storage location based on the reviews. I haven't yet moved my items in yet, but so far my experience has been great. Jewel, the person overseeing the facility when I went there, was amazing and helpful with explaining how the process worked, answering my questions, and showing me the location I selected. I also started the process online, but didn't complete it, and she called me the next day to make sure I was set with my rental since the move-in day I selected was only a couple days away. Great facility! This is a storage facility that has modern capabilities, ease of use, and no hassle. The facility was very clean and well-maintained. The entire set up was very easy to do. I did everything online and when I went to my storage unit, there was brand new lock and keys for my unit. The lock and keys can be provided by the storage facility given you pay online first. Entering the facility is so easy! Just download the Extra Space mobile app and you can do mobile entry when you're near the gate. I loved doing this because I hated entering the long code each time. Move out was extremely seamless as well. I selected my move out date via the app, moved all my things out, and was given a confirmation. Overall, very seamless process and no confusion. PROS Facility - the entire facility is new-ish/modern, very well maintained, clean, including the office. You see staff actively cleaning, sweeping, and taking care of the facility. Staff - I believe Jewel is the manager, and the one who I interacted with the most. She is genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. All around, a great person to work with during the whole process. CONS Dust - I needed the place to store my items for about 3 months, which isnt a terribly long time by any measure. When it came to move out, I was SHOCKED by the amount of dust/grit that was on everything. I was not expecting a science lab clean room, but if you see the photo, you can see the amount that accumulated on EVERYTHING in the few months I was there. Turns out there is a 1-2 inch gap (see photo) that runs along the sides where the walls meet the ceiling. I am guessing this allows for air flow to help keep the place cooler in hot months, but this gap also allows a ton of dust into your storage unit. Had I known this was going to happen, I could have easily put a painter's plastic tarp over my items, which would have taken a few minutes and a few dollars. Instead, I am now having to store all these items in my garage as a staging area, as I need to wipe down EVERY SINGLE ITEM of dust/grit before bringing them inside. This is going to take me days. Cardboard boxes which are taped up, can be wiped down, however, items that were uncovered, such as a vacuum which has endless nooks and crannies, it's going to be impossible to remove all the dust. And cloth/fabric furniture items that were uncovered ..... Stickers - They place a company branded sticker over your locks as some type of security or verification measure which is fine. However, it's impossible to remove cleanly without leaving sticky residue over your lock. read more

Fortunately, I had rented a unit at Extra Space Storage so I had a place to keep my things while I waited for things to get better. I had chosen this storage facility because it was close to my home at the time, but I was so lucky that was the case. The staff works really hard to make everything run smoothly. The rental process was super easy. I was signed up within a matter of minutes. The unit was really clean when I first opened it up and it was well maintained throughout my time renting there. Of course, staff do not enter your unit to clean it out to respect your privacy so over time you will see some dust, but they keep the grounds super clean. I never worried about getting a bunch of bugs or rodents in there destroying my belongings. One time I did not properly close the door and they actually noticed and called me to let me know. They even have an app you can use to unlock the gate so you don't have to memorize the code. If I ever need temporary storage again, I will definitely come back here. read more

Uncommunicative, Non-responsive, Misleading, & Fraudulent Company! We called multiple storage company's & decided to rent Units 145, 439 & 494 from Extra Space in San Ramon for what seemed to be a fair monthly rate. After only two months we received notice that our monthly rate would be drastically increasing. Looking into their reviews, this seems to be an ongoing issue with many other unsatisfied customers that were also unaware of this company's intentions for rate increases in such a short period of time. If we had been made aware of the potential for increases, we wouldn't have used them in the first place. It took numerous trips and additional costs to move all our belongings to another storage facility. Upon moving our items, we noticed the abnormally large number of spiders everywhere and the Interior units smell very strongly of urine! As soon as Extra Space management saw that our units were empty, they took it upon themselves to rent them to other people weeks before our move out date. I have contacted Kpillai@extraspace.com, fac1535@extraspace.com attention to the District Manager and Jewel since 09/18/24 numerous times via email and phone to give them the opportunity to remedy this issue NOT once have they responded to any of my messages. read more

Hi, my name is Rodrigo Diaz. I was more than thrilled at the ease of moving in. Smoothness if paperwork, clean, everyone and everything was hunky dory. After moving in it was still unorganized. I Bagan to resort my belongings. Property manager comes and tells me why am I hiding and that I could not be in the unit hiding...then rushed to look inside the unit only to find nothing. She advised me nit to hang anything in the unit so I took it down. Then I piled up some boxes and out a tarp over them she said I could not cover my belongings. The second time I was in the storage sorting items and she barges in, opens the gate super hard and says what are you doing, hiding over there behind those boxes. What did she find nothing again. now, I know there are privacy laws in place for the people who rent storage but Gewl, just wants to be inspector Gadget. Shes very nosy and has a serios problem thinking everyone is hiding in the unit living in it. I felt super insulted when she said people might think thing about what I'm doing. She's insecure and needs a lesson on customer service and not just steroids typing or thinking certain folks are up to no hood without justification. I really think shes un professional and treats people with no dignity or respect. Now, the office signage, gate sign and website all state we have access from 6-10pm. I'm there 1 1/2 hrs everyither day or so and im living there..insane! The guy in the office Marcos or something like that is very nice and helpful. My storage unit is still a mess cause I'm walking on eggshells with Gewls. Ugh.​ I just want to rent the space in peace...not this crap. read more
