Don't get me wrong the staff is nothing short of great to work with. I just believe their pricing practice is absolutely ridiculous. They lure you in with a really decent rate as long as you prepay for 4 months. Ok great. Come renewal time guess what? They jack up the rate 50%. Can you prepay another four months at the current rate? no you can't. I went from a hair under $200 with insurance to about $300 - So you are either stuck paying 50% more (after introductory rate) especially if you have a bunch of junk or you move out. I chose the latter as I do have a truck and I was able to get a shed in my backyard. This may be the practice in the industry, but personally it feels pretty scummy to me. I'm only giving 2 stars as the staff were pleasant and easy to work with. As long as you know what you are getting into things should be fine. I just wasn't aware the rate would increase so drastically. Buyer (ahem renter) beware read more

I was very happy with the customer service however, they don't have the same service anymore! I spoke to an employee who said the manager can help, but they didn't wanna help putting it on the system. read more

Overall a 4.5 out of 5, had to dock them half a point since they have increased the rental fee for the storage unit already. While you can rent a storage unit in person, it's actually easier and cheaper to rent it online. And overall it's been a pretty satisfying ordeal concerning renting the unit and to me imo, and it's in walking distance of my house..it does feel a tad claustrophobic when you are trying to turn around and exit the place. Currently there are like usually 2-4 cars or vehicles parked in the parking areas between some of the units. Beyond that, it appears that they do checks fairly often since our unit and many others have stickers on them, guessing to verify that the lock or unit hasn't been broken into.. read more

I recently rented a space from this storage location based on the reviews. I haven't yet moved my items in yet, but so far my experience has been great. Jewel, the person overseeing the facility when I went there, was amazing and helpful with explaining how the process worked, answering my questions, and showing me the location I selected. I also started the process online, but didn't complete it, and she called me the next day to make sure I was set with my rental since the move-in day I selected was only a couple days away. Jewel has also been working there for over 10 years, and I could tell she enjoys her job, which makes me feel better about renting here because I know that I'm in good hands. read more

Excellent customer service , great hospitality by jewel . !!!!! Clean well maintained , nice lighting at night , great area

We used Extra Space storage to storage all our belongings when we were between homes and the crew here were just awesome to work with. Jules is super responsive and clear in her communications; move in and move out we're a breeze. Move in day we realized we needed a bigger storage unit and the help onsite was able to accommodate us and get it switched seamlessly in the system. Accessing the gate to the units through the mobile app was super easy and convenient. I wouldn't hesitate to rent a space from them again. read more

The service there is very nice and helpful. I appreciate the friendly people that work there.

The location is perfect. Always clean and safe. Staff are always friendly.Units are easy access to.

PROS Facility - the entire facility is new-ish/modern, very well maintained, clean, including the office. You see staff actively cleaning, sweeping, and taking care of the facility. Staff - I believe Jewel is the manager, and the one who I interacted with the most. She is genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. All around, a great person to work with during the whole process. CONS Dust - I needed the place to store my items for about 3 months, which isnt a terribly long time by any measure. When it came to move out, I was SHOCKED by the amount of dust/grit that was on everything. I was not expecting a science lab clean room, but if you see the photo, you can see the amount that accumulated on EVERYTHING in the few months I was there. Turns out there is a 1-2 inch gap (see photo) that runs along the sides where the walls meet the ceiling. I am guessing this allows for air flow to help keep the place cooler in hot months, but this gap also allows a ton of dust into your storage unit. Had I known this was going to happen, I could have easily put a painter's plastic tarp over my items, which would have taken a few minutes and a few dollars. Instead, I am now having to store all these items in my garage as a staging area, as I need to wipe down EVERY SINGLE ITEM of dust/grit before bringing them inside. This is going to take me days. Cardboard boxes which are taped up, can be wiped down, however, items that were uncovered, such as a vacuum which has endless nooks and crannies, it's going to be impossible to remove all the dust. And cloth/fabric furniture items that were uncovered ..... Stickers - They place a company branded sticker over your locks as some type of security or verification measure which is fine. However, it's impossible to remove cleanly without leaving sticky residue over your lock. read more

Love the location and that things are straight to the point. However, when I checked on my items I notice quickly that they have an ant and pests issue. Literally droppings on my baby's clothes, blankets, etc. Not sure I want to continue business for much longer as it adds another stressful situation. read more

Hi I'm Jared and I never give reviews because I feel that living in a society where we review one another is inherently a bad idea. but... my experience at Extra Space Storage on Alcosta in San Ramon was nothing short of phenomenal!! Both Jewel and Marco are total professionals with a human touch. I never would have expected that I would look forward to going to any storage facility because it is always a pain but I truly did. the facility is always kept clean and tidy and the staff is always helpful and attentive. they are open 7days a week from 6-10 so you'll always have reasonable access to your things. 5 star experience, all the way around. read more

Great facility! This is a storage facility that has modern capabilities, ease of use, and no hassle. The facility was very clean and well-maintained. The entire set up was very easy to do. I did everything online and when I went to my storage unit, there was brand new lock and keys for my unit. The lock and keys can be provided by the storage facility given you pay online first. Entering the facility is so easy! Just download the Extra Space mobile app and you can do mobile entry when you're near the gate. I loved doing this because I hated entering the long code each time. Move out was extremely seamless as well. I selected my move out date via the app, moved all my things out, and was given a confirmation. Overall, very seamless process and no confusion. Highly recommend this storage facility! read more

I am so grateful to Jewel at the San Ramon location on Alcosta Blvd in San Ramon! She was consistently friendly and extremely helpful for the two years I relied on that facility. I had already planned to move out of my place and notified my landlord right before the pandemic hit. Bad timing as I could not look for a new place for a while. Fortunately, I had rented a unit at Extra Space Storage so I had a place to keep my things while I waited for things to get better. I had chosen this storage facility because it was close to my home at the time, but I was so lucky that was the case. The staff works really hard to make everything run smoothly. The rental process was super easy. I was signed up within a matter of minutes. The unit was really clean when I first opened it up and it was well maintained throughout my time renting there. Of course, staff do not enter your unit to clean it out to respect your privacy so over time you will see some dust, but they keep the grounds super clean. I never worried about getting a bunch of bugs or rodents in there destroying my belongings. One time I did not properly close the door and they actually noticed and called me to let me know. They even have an app you can use to unlock the gate so you don't have to memorize the code. If I ever need temporary storage again, I will definitely come back here. read more

Such a great place- it's "just storage" but they really listen to your needs and match your needs with their availability and services. Incredibly responsive and easy to use. Very responsive and friendly, I really appreciate all the care and time they took and even stayed after hours. over and above what i expected. read more

Staff and location were great. The sole reason they do not give 5 stars is because they raised my rent over a $100 within 6 months of being at the location. That's absurd! This is also the only that I left the location to a different company. I have been renting for several years to decades with storage companies and I have NEVER seen that type of increase within 5 - 6 months. read more

Marcos and Jul were extremely responsive, knowledgeable and friendly! After calling the customer service as the business owner directed, someone from the district reached out, basically just repeated what we've already known and didn't offer any help on the case. It's extremely frustrating and makes me think customers are worthless to them. read more

I recently lost my husband and I moved from Sonoma county to San Ramon, I needed to downsize my storage unit and had no one to help me, I went into the office at the ExtraSpace on Alcosta Blvd and was helped by Justine, I can't thank her enough for helping me to get a smaller storage unit that would fit the remaining things I have, she was absolutely wonderful and just a big help!! I can't say enough good things about her she was awesome!! read more

Uncommunicative, Non-responsive, Misleading, & Fraudulent Company! We called multiple storage company's & decided to rent Units 145, 439 & 494 from Extra Space in San Ramon for what seemed to be a fair monthly rate. After only two months we received notice that our monthly rate would be drastically increasing. Looking into their reviews, this seems to be an ongoing issue with many other unsatisfied customers that were also unaware of this company's intentions for rate increases in such a short period of time. If we had been made aware of the potential for increases, we wouldn't have used them in the first place. It took numerous trips and additional costs to move all our belongings to another storage facility. Upon moving our items, we noticed the abnormally large number of spiders everywhere and the Interior units smell very strongly of urine! As soon as Extra Space management saw that our units were empty, they took it upon themselves to rent them to other people weeks before our move out date. I have contacted Kpillai@extraspace.com, fac1535@extraspace.com attention to the District Manager and Jewel since 09/18/24 numerous times via email and phone to give them the opportunity to remedy this issue NOT once have they responded to any of my messages. read more
