[I am cleaning out my yelp review drafts and did not realize it never posted. Posting now but keep…read morein mind this happened a few years ago] If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My husband rented a second-floor storage unit here for the past three years. While we initially had no issues, that changed in mid-2020 when we began hearing about break-ins--specifically targeting second-floor units due to the open wire ceiling panels. Tenants were reportedly sleeping inside units and accessing others by dropping in from above. Although our unit wasn't hit at the time, it raised serious concerns. Fast forward to this year: we stopped by the unit to grab some tools, only to find the roof had been cut open and several of my husband's tools stolen. He reported it to management and secured the damaged ceiling with a cable. The following weekend, we returned to check on the unit again--and found our lock hanging, unlocked. Now, my husband is meticulous with locking things, and this particular lock cannot be removed without locking it first. It had clearly been picked. Inside, our unit had been completely ransacked. Everything was gone. While I stayed by the unit, my husband spoke with the on-duty manager, who came to assess the situation and casually mentioned that police were already en route for another incident. We waited over an hour before realizing she had never called. My husband ended up placing the call himself, and we waited several hours in the heat for police to arrive and file a report. We later found out that our unit had been accessed at 12:55 a.m. on Monday--days before we returned--during a time when the facility was supposed to be locked. This means the thieves were inside the building overnight, hiding until staff left. U-Haul is supposed to have systems that alert owners to unauthorized access. No alert was ever sent. No check-in from management. Our unit was robbed and left unsecured for days. We also learned that one of their trucks had been stolen that same night--very likely used to haul away our belongings. These trucks have GPS tracking. It took them until the weekend to even realize one was missing. That's gross negligence. This facility claims to have security measures in place: coded entry, camera surveillance, and alarms on unit doors--but it's all smoke and mirrors. None of it protected our property, and none of it helped identify or prevent what happened. Worst of all, they never warned tenants that this was a recurring issue. If you're considering storing your belongings here, be extremely cautious. We lost everything.
