Confessions: I'm not paying the bill personally, but by virtue of being associated with a local group that stores stuff here [in a crazy small 4x4 space, anyway], I find myself there more than I'd care to share. That said... note the gate hours of 7am-7pm; I realize a lot of places have 'em, so can't ding them for it, just a drag... after commuting to the office and back, odds of hitting a 7pm is slim on weekdays. But merely noted to note it. Back to the story... __________ Trip 1. On our first trip there, we got a prize of an extra lock. (We're in a "sub" unit, so one master for the outer space, the other for the individual inner door). Went to leave, and the key wouldn't come out of the lock. Really, like... really? I ate my Wheaties today, and couldn't get the dang thing out. Hit it with WD-40 and liquid wrench (since I'm a boy who has this stuff sitting around the car); no luck, but the key did turn better. Being the concerned tenant, we went to the office. No one home. Called the posted number, went to voicemail. Called the emergency number -- though I wouldn't consider an unlocked outer door an emergency by any stretch -- and also voicemail. Left messages. No callback. Slept well knowing we did what we could to notify someone. __________ Trip 2. Went by the office the next day to speak to someone in the office. No one home, just a troubling "We'll be back at..." sign in the window. Um, okay -- but rest assured, our day isn't going to be rescheduled around the office staff's errands. __________ Trip 3. This after the office woman called the account contact with all sorts of claims of lock theft and such rubbish, but did call back to apologize (apparently she realized she was being a bit harsh). Make a 2pm appointment to come by with the lock (note appointment is during business hours... she had grocery shopping to do). Stopped into the office, she looked at the lock and said it wasn't their key -- which are round -- and if we had to have keys made, we should have used the local locksmith (Security Locksmith, nice folks by the by). Apparently the stamped lettering in the key "Sec... Locksmith" wasn't a clue for the non-FBI types to identify. We left with the lock, still stuck with a key in it, as we were told it was our problem to deal with, since our choice of keys ruined the lock. __________ Trip to Security Locksmith. Nice guys (as noted), yup, that's our key, and they removed it. Oh, and the problem? One of the pins went out in the lock, so factory key or their professionally duplicated key would have gotten stuck equally well. The lock has since been returned to the office -- once we found a moment it was convenient for them to be in the office -- to deal with their defective lock. __________ Would I go there to store stuff? Nope. Any marginal cost savings are negated by the hassle if/when things go sideways. __________ Customer service review. See "Cons", "Trip 1," "Trip 2," and "Trip 3"

The last day they left, our SAFE that they put in the truck was not unloaded or missing. All my grandmother's wedding gift to me 90 years old was in the safe. The owner in san jose threatened that if we tell anyone it will be defamation. I filed police report and still waiting to see if they found video of the workers with the safe. The workers took the truck and were missing for 1.5 hours . The distance between the 2 houses was 20min. When asked where they were, they said they had gone to lunch but with all our valuables! All the workers denied taking the safe and said they put in garage. But when we said we dont' see the safe in the garage.... they said oh its not in the front of garage its in the back. During the move they would always ask where to put all our items, but they never asked where to put the safe! We moved everything out and the safe was no where to be found. This is quite a scam you give perfect strangers all your valuables they load into their truck and just don't unload. ... no need to beak in to your house as you are letting them in! I WISH I HAD PUT A TRACKER IN MY BELONGINGS AND CAUGHT THEM! whomever took my grandmother's jewels. :(

    DO NOT trust Instant Custom Boxes…read more Despite over a year of follow-ups, Instant Custom Boxes has failed to deliver on a refund they committed to after shipping us defective, unusable packaging that did not match the approved design. They acknowledged the error and agreed to a refund--first promising full repayment within 12-18 business days, then switching to monthly payments on the 23rd of each month. We've received only three partial payments after exhausting efforts. They ghosted us repeatedly, blocked our phone number, and ignored scheduled payments. On June 19, 2025, I informed David Albert via live chat that this would be our final request before filing formal complaints. He said either James Fletcher (Manager) or Paul Millers would follow up that day. They did not. This has been an outrageous waste of time and resources.     This could not have gone better! From the very first moment, the entire experience went so much…read morebetter than any other move I have ever done. First, upon contacting them, the person I spoke with was polite, professional, personable and knowledgeable. They clearly communicated everything I wanted to know and let me know how to use the links to upload photos and video for them to create their estimate. Once they did, they sent me the estimate, which was more reasonable than any others I had received. And they called to confirm I received it and ask if anything was not included in the inventory of the items to be moved. I added one thing I had forgotten and they adjusted it by a tiny amount. And they made sure I understood the minimum amount and that, should it take longer than expected, what the maximum would be, which was still very reasonable! Once I decided to choose them, their professional staff communicated with me at each step along the way, confirming dates and times were set, and making sure I knew what would be included and what to expect on the day of the move. They even called me, just to let me know that the employee who had done my original intake have moved to another job and introduce me to who would be handling my details going forward. As the move approached, I got a reminder message a week out, another as the deadline approached to add any last-minute items, and a phone call 3 days prior to make sure everything was all lined up and ready. On the morning of, I got another text letting me know that the movers were 45 minutes from arrival, which put them exactly on time...and that is precisely when they arrived! Paco and Jerry were our movers that day and were terrific - professional, helpful, careful and absolutely delightful people! Upon arrival, I met them both and we did a walk-through to make sure they knew exactly what needed to be moved and what was staying. Paco took me through and made sure if I had any questions as I signed the final paperwork. As I started that, Jerry immediately got to work...and he was FAST! By the time I walked in things were already getting securely and carefully wrapped and ready. Paco joined him and they completed it in record time, even making sure to organize things into the order they wanted to move them off at our destination. I headed to our delivery location for final preparation. And they were there before I knew it! They sent a text when they left the pick up location to give me their ETA, so I could be ready. When they arrived, once again, a brief walk through to confirm where things were to go. And then they started moving at light-speed again! They were fast...and STRONG. I couldn't believe how easily they moved some of the items. But they were incredibly careful and considerate as well. I had no concerns at all about any damage to items or my home. They finished right on time. After double checking, everything was in pristine condition, like it had never been touched! Clean and safe. As they finished on time, we did final signatures and they confirmed that there would not be any need for an increase over the minimum amount we agreed to. If you read this far, I am guessing I don't have to tell you, but I HIGHLY recommend this company and will most definitely be turning to them if I ever am moving anything anywhere again! And, as you can see in the photos, my cat, Ben Solo, approves as well!
