Horrible customer service. Helping a close friend move her household into a 3rd story unit with hired movers on a Sunday. My friend is super careful about making sure everything goes smoothly, so she had gone over all the codes and how to access buildings, elevators, etc. with the facility manager the week prior. When we arrived today the elevator on our end of the building had a large sign indicating it was out of order and to use the elevator at the other in the building. So $150 an hour the moving guys packed the truck back up and drove it to the other side of the building because it would've been faster than moving everything manually there. They loaded the elevator up and tried to proceed to the third floor but the elevator would not budge. We began calling the emergency line at at 2 PM. Are we got a recordings, and finally reached someone who gave us the number of the facilities manager. All the while these poor movers continued to drag furniture up three flights of stairs. My friend left an urgent message at the number she had been provided and 45 minutes later the facilities manager finally called her and was so rude it was appalling! She actually had the nerve to demand to know how she got her personal cell number and said that she was off the clock and no one should be calling her on a Sunday. I was boggled. We ended up agreeing for her to come down and turn the elevator on as "someone" Had failed to turn it back on on Friday apparently. I'm pretty sure someone was this idiot who calls herself a facilities manager. She told us that she would be here in five minutes, 32 minutes later my friend's cell phone rang and the woman barked at her to go back and use the elevator it was working now. Apparently she had snuck in to the facility on the other side of the building unlocked the elevator and then snuck back out instead of coming out to talk to us. All the while these professional movers are on the clock. I felt so bad for them I bought lunch for them out of my own pocket so between the additional three hours moving and the food we're out of pocket over $400. When my friend asked for a meeting with the woman so they can discuss the situation the facility manager actually had the nerve to snap at her on the phone and say there's nothing to discuss and reminded her again that she should've never called her personal cell number on her day off. My friend persevered and they're supposed to meet on Tuesday but if I were her I wouldn't bother with this idiot, their facility manager has no clue what decent customer service is like and I have a feeling from the feedback that we got from multiple people that came and went over the 4 1/2 hours we were here, this is standard operating procedure for this facility. Super bummed because the facility itself is absolutely immaculate but you do not treat customers this way. If I were my friend I would demand that they credit back 100% of the additional time she had to pay the movers in order to get the job done I waited for this clown pull her head out of her butt and come down and provide a little bit of service. And regardless, I will be reaching out to their corporate headquarters to let them know just how horrifically things were handled here. read more

Overall is clean, restrons are clean also, gate hours are great and i think the system they use to know who comes in and out is great staff super friendly and for the price is fair average, only thing that you need to get insurance read more

My low rate (so I thought) has climb almost 50% since I moved into just over a year ago. The first manager was great but any one since has made me regret I ever moved my things into this location. They make you buy insurance through them ( what a scam). My last storage unit did not raise the fees a penny in the 10 years I was with them. We were very disappointed. JOSE promised us a lower rate with a veterans discount. Marlene wouldn't honor it. There were 3 of us waiting at 0930 for the business to open. There was only one person to help all of us. We had to wait an hour with no compensation no apologies. After we finally got our keys we discovered homeless people changing clothes in the units. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! HORRIBLE!! This place was the alternative I was given when "SpareFoot" (the online booking company...who actually were pretty nice) reserved a "5x10' storage space" at the Construction Circle, Irvine location for me... but I found out by speaking directly to that site's manager that the location that I booked less than 24 hrs earlier was not designed for storing furniture, but only boxes and similar as she said the hallways there were extremely narrow & wouldn't be unable to navigate larger items, like furniture because it was built in the 70's and old. So, due to that problem, I booked a more costly location at their urging and went there the very next day to make sure there were no unforeseen problems before moving in. Well, after being shown the ~"5 x 10 ft"~ storage space, I wasn't convinced I would be able to move the dressers in because of their narrow hallways and ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEY DON'T ACTUALLY GIVE THE SIZE SPACE THEY TELL YOU AND ADVERTISE! This "5 x 10ft space" was actually 4'3" x 9'5" of usable space because they have METAL BEAMS and METAL FOOTINGS/FRAMING that impedes & reduces the usable space to considerably less storage then promised! I had to speak to Mayling, the manager of that site to come to a compromise, but this meant I would have to get rid of things I'd spent thousands on to store with a different company...wow! I will say at this point, at least she, Mayling the manager, conducted herself professionally and didn't scream, argue or humiliate me like these 2 office workers named "May" and "VK" did. Further more, both office employees (2) at this location who run the office have been unbelievably rude, mean and nasty people...one, the man who goes by the name of "VK" and a woman by the name of "May"...were absolutely horrid! When I came in only 3 minutes late, they actually REFUSED TO HELP ME BECAUSE they had "already signed off the computer" and "wouldn't be paid by the company if they helped me"...and "it takes 15 minutes to go over the contract" and so absolutely refused to do anything but bully me! When I asked them to call for the manager for help, Mayling, as required the previous day, they actually refused to call for me stating "we don't have to help you"...I WAS ABSOLUTELY FLOORED! They both started yelling and ordering me to leave the office saying I was "threatening" them when I had only promised to reveal their corrupt business practices in a review...all the time yelling at me and threatening and ACTUALLY calling the Irvine police! I've NEVER BEEN SO POORLY TREATED AND SO MISLEAD AND LIED TO BY ANY BUSINESS IN ORANGE COUNTY IN THE 35 YEARS I'VE LIVED HERE! When the police arrived, they declined my offer to show them my ID I offered them as clearly I was rational and reasonable and mentioned that Extra Space Storage has a reputation for doing poor business; yet of course the police couldn't force them to behave properly in this situation; I then went on to explain to the officer how they had treated me and how they misrepresented their business dealings..and the officer actually stated, "And that's why they don't have a very good reputation"......wait...what was that? Oh...so it ISN'T ME JUST ME HEY!?! HAH! I was surprised the police officer actually sided with me, as I had prepared myself for less then cordial treatment...but was pleasantly surprised by a very kind and calming officer. SO AFTER ALL WAS DONE TO ME...I HAVE TO ASK MYSELF...~"WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE LIE ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE GETTING FOR YOUR RENTAL PAYMENT, ARGUE AND EMBELLISH THE TRUTH? WHO WOULD REFUSE TO HELP SOMEONE WHO WAS HAVING A TRUCK FULL OF THEIR FURNITURE & OTHER BELONGINGS DELIVERED TO SITE WITHIN THE NEXT 30 MINUTES AFTER VACATING ANOTHER STORAGE UNIT AND HAD A CONFIRMED RESERVATION MADE FOR THAT DAY? WHY WOULD YOU REFUSE TO CONTACT SENIOR MANAGEMENT WHEN THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND ALL IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN FROM YOU IS A PHONE CALL? WHY WOULD YOU REFUSE TO COMPLETE THE CONTRACT WHEN ALL IT WOULD TAKE IS A SIGNATURE AND TO ANSWER A COUPLE SIMPLE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS?! WHY WOULD "PROFESSIONALS" RESORT TO YELLING, HUMILIATING A CUSTOMER IN A DIFFICULT SITUATION AND THEN FURTHER BULLY THAT PERSON BY CALLING THE LOCAL POLICE WITH NO VALID REASON OR CRIME? No security at this facility. Gates were wide open during the day. I returned after 6PM and the entrance gate was wide open! I guess having the exit gate closed meant it was secure. read more

My personal experience w/ExtraSpace has not been so great. Here is a brief summary of what I've experienced and if it helps you avoid an unexpected costly mistake I've experienced I will be happy I posted this review. MAR 2017: Rented a unit with intention it would be a long-term storage endeavor. Signed agreement and agreed to pay $190 per month JUL 2017: Received a postcard in the mail notifying me that unit rent would increase to $263 per month effective AUG 2017. Called office but staff offered only excuses as to why price was raised, citing market conditions. On-site team offered no compassion or sympathy for situation we were being put into as a result of $73 per month rate increase. OCT 2017: Intend to move out of ExtraSpace unit. read more

Wow! Where to start?! Max is highly knowledgeable and sold me within minutes. He even helped me understand what I needed. What great customer service he provides. I'm usually methodical about making these sorts of decisions, but he had me leaning in to make a very fast and confident decision. We toured the facility in the golf cart and, to my surprise, a 60' long 18-wheeler can do a U-turn at the back of this property! Perfect as I'm moving an entire home in. This place checked all the boxes AND the prices were better than comparable facilities ... and even better than lesser facilities. I decided to purchase insurance based on Max's recommendation. Daneen walked in and her presence and knowledge furthered my confidence that I had chosen the best facility. I found the service exceptional and the personal friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

I truly love this storage. First, it is new and clean, so you should not worry about any pest issues. The building is secured and you can only enter the gate and the building by using an assigned code number. I would not like to go to a different company after renting here at extra space storage of El Camino, Irvine. Recently, I was not happy with the rate of my storage unit. Luckily when I called, Deneen was the person who picked up the phone. She listened to me and showed me how valuable I was to her company. She listened to my concerns and did a few things right away. Then, knowing that I was not satisfied, she asked to give me a call back, so she can review my case closely. A few hours later, she called me with great news. I know she had to contact a manager or a supervisor to get approval. The point is she went to that individual and fought for me. She wanted to make sure I was heard. This is what you call empathy and ensuring customer satisfaction. I feel like she has my best interest. I am so grateful that she is the person who picked u the phone when I called. This facility happens to be my 6th storage facility since my journey with storage began and you would have to really twist my arm to make me want to leave. This is a brand new concrete facility with a leader in the storage world running it and it shows. From the time you reserve a unit online until the time you rent your 8th unit, (kidding.... kinda... )the staff are all equipped with the tools and training to keep the ball rolling smoothly. I have never run into an employee informing me of something another was unaware of or understood differently. Let me tell you, when you have 8 units like a friend of mine has,() all opened and consequently billed on different days, there is definetly opportunity for miscommunication. This company knows what it takes to save everyone any headaches! Once you add the cleanliness, the easy freeway access, the security, and the accessibility for those of us who appreciate extra modifications to the wheelchair accessible units, Extra Space has a solid winner in my book! I have only my one small gripe as they do not have a dumpster on site. I guess I couldn't expect them to be as good of storage people if they had to be garbage people too! I can live with that! I am a current long term tenant and just received another rent increase. They give me one every 6 months. When I called the site to question the increase I found out the real reason behind there motives. They are currently evicting over 400 tenants because they plan to do construction at the site to bulid more units. These tenants have to move out because there are no more empty units to put them at the current facility. My unit was not affected by the construction so here comes my rent increase because my unit is now very valuable to them. When I called to question why I was getting another increase I was told that I could pay the increase or just move out. You see they have plenty of people that would love to rent my unit at a higher price, you know people that where told by them to move out, and it would be no problem filling my unit once I am gone. Wow! It is not bad enough to piss off 400 tenants by telling them they have to move out let's piss off the tenant's that get to stay by raising their rents. I would advise to stay away from here. read more

What a rip-off!!!!We have been here for over a year and a half and we started out paying $109 and now we pay $158.00. The unit is not even climate controlled and when it rained last year water came into our unit and the moisture caused all of our boxes to get soft and cave in on each other. Staff basically just said file an insurance claim. The reason you have things in storage is because they are items that you can't replace and mean something to you...so just to say "file a claim" basically means they don't care. We live in Serrano apartment complex and they told us they have good rates, so we fell for it...So far hasn't been the case. :-( I would suggest 1-5 Storage close by...They have all climate controlled spaces and cost less for spaces that are larger. read more
