Anjelica is amazing and attentive with a high sense of pride in her work and customer service orientation. She made sure to explain everything to me in detail and also got me a really great unit closest one available to the door. She really keeps things clean and orderly. We purchased a unit at the Herndon location to house some of my mother's belongings until she got well enough to move with me again. Unfortunately she grew more ill and we lost her in 2019. with the loss of my mother and a full on pandemic outside we were faced with many hard times these past two years. The kindness, genuine care, diligence and attention to detail that Angelica gave us during that time was truly unmatched by any other retailer really ever. This storage facility is super awesome. From customer service to location all of it has greatly exceeded my expectation. There have been customers who have been using this facility for 7+ years which shows the management knows how to treat their customers. Danny and his wife are very helpful, from setting up a new account, keeping the facility clean, friendly, answering silly questions. The location is accessible from 7100, 606 and is near the center of Herndon. Gated, secure I trust my belongings are safe at this location. Prices are competive/somewhat higher than others around the area. Use your own lock if you want to avoid paying $7-15 for a new one there. read more

We rented a small storage unit with AC for a little over a year. Within the timeframe, they raised the price twice, without notifying us. The first time they did, we went in to complain about it and they gave us a credit. The second time they did, (you would think they would have learned their lesson the first time), they did not notify us again. That's when we said enough is enough and moved everything out of the storage. Basically, they don't really care about improving customer service. They know how much of a pain in the butt it is to move things so they just keep increasing the price... If you have things to store, think twice, whether you really need them or not...Renting storage space is very expensive and the way they increase the price, it's not really worth it to store old items. Better get rid of things you don't need and just buy new ones :) Save your money! read more

Without a doubt the staff is 5 stars, customer service is 5 stars, cleanliness is 5 stars. But what is really annoying are price increases that occur about every 6 months. I read about the company habit on a different location review. But I moved my stuff there 18 months ago to save 50 bucks a month for same size unit I was renting from Public Storage. With price increases in 18 months, it is now just 25 dollars less. At rate increases like this, soon will need to move out from here. Am only renting a 5 x 10 unit so it seems unreasonable. read more

I am a first time storage unit renter, and I hate to admit it, but the reason I originally chose this facility because it had the best price value of the options I was considering. I feel very lucky to have chosen Extra Space Storage (ESS) in Herndon because the customer service is OUTSTANDING. On the day I went in to sign my contract, I actually ended up standing in there just chatting with the staff for a while after contract signing was finished. They are all very personable and knowledgeable. I had all of my questions answered and felt very confident that if i had any questions or concerns at anytime, someone would be available to answer them. I think these days, good customer service is hard to come by, and ESS in Herndon deserves a ton of praise. In regards to the facility itself, I don't have anything to really compare it to. I have the 5x10 unit, which perfectly fits the contents of my DC apartment. It is easy for me to just swing my the unit to add or remove items at any time, and moving everything into the unit was easy as well. Being a young woman, I also feel very safe coming and going to the facility at any time of day, which I also think is a very important thing. read more

The Jonathan at Extra Space Storage (ESS) was very helpful....I had reserved a space online to move my things in October 14. My movers called the 13th and said they were only available to move my things late morning the 13th. I called ESS and the Jon told me there would be no problem with my occupying the storage space a day early, as they had one available. I arrived at ESS about 3:30pm filled out the paperwork, and the movers unpacked the truck and we were out of there by 4pm. The facility is extremely clean and well kept. The prices are great, compared to other storage facilities in NOVA. I would recommend this storage facility over others in the area. read more

I decided to come back and update my review on the Storage company after having been there yesterday. The manager Danny saw me struggling to start my truck and offered to help me jump start it. The battery post apparently was corroded badly and prevented it from even being able to 'Jump". Danny said he thought he could quickly fix it with a battery tool brush he had. It took him about 5 minutes and we tried it again. The truck started and saved me from calling a tow or AAA. Danny goes out of his way to take care of his customers. I have heard that from other storage customers on the property. Except for price this place is 5 stars all the way. read more

We used to store our items with a different storage facility and the staff was rude and never helpful. We've been using this location for over 2 years now. We have two units, one personal and one for business storage. The entire facility is very clean and the staff is very polite. Angelica and Danny are great! The facility is clean and appears to be very secure. A little confusion on the insurance requirement but that was resolved fairly quick.

I can confirm the positive reviews of the recent customers. The rhetorical elements of customer service demonstrated by the staff of this facility are certainly top notch. The real measure of Extra Space Storage in Herndon, though, is the ongoing customer care. This is significantly less than the service that one experiences when they sign their agreement. Specifically, issues pertaining to Extra Space Storage's routine practice of increasing rent with only 30 days notice is disappointing. If you think the price is a little high on move in, just wait until your first increase at 9 months. That happened to us and we immediately complained. Thankfully, the management did not increase at that time. However, the company did increase our rent by about 10% three months later. Subsequently, the company is attempting to increase our rent again by about 12% (at the 1.5 year mark). I've complained about this practice to the office and let them know that I do not plan to remain with them if they go forward with this second rent increase. One further element to note is the fact that there are similarly-sized units that are vacant, therefore they are not increasing rent based on a supply/demand formula. This increase is based solely on their clients' longevity with them and is a practice that actually disincentives product loyalty. In sum, if you appreciate a positive customer interaction and an average level of product quality (the facilities are certainly adequate and I have no complaints about the unit itself) and you are willing to pay significantly more rent every 6-9 months, then you will have no problems with Extra Space Storage in Herndon. If, however, you appreciate a company which rewards customer loyalty (or doesn't punish it at least), you should look elsewhere. read more

Danny the manager was an excellent person to work with. He was very personable and honest, when I reserved a space he determined how much space I actually needed according to the load size. Dan also saved me a bunch money by recommended me an affordable but reasonable space by assuring me that my load would fit in a smaller space than what I had in mind.
