I initially chose a storage facility in the east bay, even though I live on the peninsula, because their rates were competitive. However, since opening my storage unit, my rates have gone up THREE times! I now pay $20 more than when I signed up. That's very unprofessional. The other thing is, is that this place is super creepy inside. I barely come here unless with a friend because the hallways of the storage facilities are really eerie and the lights are on a delayed sensor, so you walk into an dark abyss and then the lights turn on. I love this place. They recently renovated and have cameras in view of every unit. Its been over 2 years since I opened my unit and have never experienced any breakins or security issues. The property feels very safe. The on site manager, Jason, has a good attitude and has been very accommodating to my needs. Went with my brother while he was renting a storage space and their online system was not up to date with what was actually available. Honestly, if that were the case, we should have been told that by the person who called us to set it up. We proceeded to head down to the storage space and took much needed time to set everything up and were told the storage was not available but that there was another one of a lover size available. Our storage locker was broken into and half of our things were stolen. Management falsely claimed that they notified us when they did not, so we continued to pay monthly fees. The staff was completely unsympathetic and only interested in avoiding any financial liability. Filed a police report to file a claim with my insurance company and was told that this storage facility has more burglaries than any other in Hayward. Break-ins are routine, and the staff certainly acted as if this was the case. One staff member even told me to expect burglaries "in this area". Police told me that theft is easy. Criminals rent a locker online and get the codes to enter the gate and building. They are already in. Never need to see anyone or provide ID. No security cameras inside and nobody patrolling after 7 pm (overnight). Criminals go into the building before 7, have all night to break into other units, steal things, and put them in their storage unit. They then leave after 7 am, come back a day or two later, and take out "their things" from "their locker". Totally worthless security. Your things are highly likely to be stolen. Police also told me thieves love this place as they often net thousands in stolen property. It's close to the higher income section of Hayward with storage of high-value items common. Police cited thefts of business equipment, baseball card collections, and other high-value items. Thieves simply cut the sliding metal latch on our unit to gain access. The Master Lock was on the floor inside uncut. In other cases, police told us thieves smashed holes in the walls between units to gain access to neighboring units. Avoid storing anything here unless you don't care that it will likely be stolen. Also, homeless people are living in some of the units, making it easy to access other units. Never gain. I now refer to this place as Excess Stuff Stolen. read more

Please do not go here. After a few months I come back to my storage unit to see that the lock has been changed. When I asked the management they said they did not change my lock. Somebody cut my lock and stole my stuff and put a new lock on it. The management acted completely indifferent to my complaints. I had their monthly unit rental insurance and they said they will not pay me since there was no evidence of "forced entry" - meaning door was not broken. I suspect the management also is involved in such acts. I lost 2000$ worth of stuff. read more

Relative and I chose this place after moving out from our apt up the hill. It said and still does say "First month Free" on many signs around the building. I'm in sales so I knew it was the classic, bait'n'switch tactic. Obviously especially when multiple Yelpers experienced the same fuckry. Also, WARNING! Extremely unsafe units. I cut my arm open through the process flesh just by pressing lightly on the inner trim off the units door. It's basically made of very thin, extra sharp tin roofing. When I found a worker, he had no concern as if it's normal to happen. After telling him of the cut(which definitely needed stitches) caused by their unit structure, I was told To check at the front desk for a first aid kit. Would give zero stars if I could. Sad to see how many people also have the same review as me. Don't open a storage unit here unless you want to pay to get robbed. This is long overdue. I reserved a unit online last year around May and was able to complete paperwork and access it same day. I opened a small unit here to keep my belongings because I relocated but planned to return with a year and a half. Upon signing paperwork, they ask what kind of belongings you will store and the rough estimate of worth everything is. It's all part of routine right? Anyways, fast forward to a couple months later. I visit the bay every month to see friends since I only relocated to SoCal. I wanted to collect some things out of my unit. I don't know if all storage locks are the same everywhere, but here, you cannot remove the key unless you have turned and locked the door latch. So it's impossible to leave without locking your unit. I'm paranoid and the type to try to open a locked door millions of times just to ensure it is locked. I opened my unit to see someone has clearly been through it because I packed my boxes and belongings neatly when I moved in. I had about 8-10 large bags of clothing stolen, a few large and small brown boxes of miscellaneous belongings, cooking pots and utensils, small cabinets and plastic tubs full of documents and video games and consoles, and my tv stolen. Boxes contained electronics, some jewelry, makeup, etc. Total I had about 15-20 boxes/containers/bags full of my belongings stolen. It took me at least 2 hours to move everything in. Only things weren't stolen was my bed and bed frame, glass table, and junk like hangars and laundry baskets. I called front desk to report it and find out how to file a claim. Lady was so nonchalant like it happened all the time. She said there was no evidence of the lock being tampered so how else would anyone get in without a key? Nobody but me has a key and I had all copies on me. I paid my storage so it wasn't like my unit was open for auction and I wasn't notified they opened my unit to the public. This place is very fishy. Staff doesn't seem to care about their customers. They claimed they would review the tapes to see if anyone or a group of people somehow got in and they could pinpoint it. Despite how much stuff I had whoever stole my things had to carry, and the time it would have taken, and the people it would have required to move it all, nobody ever found any evidence. Funny how my things get stolen, the door has no tampers so someone had to have used a key to enter, and there's absolutely no evidence on camera of anyone stealing and carrying out a large amount of boxes and belongings during the short time frame I had moved in until I came back. Don't trust this place. I filed a claim and only received $2k back because unfortunately I thought the minimum policy was enough coverage not thinking with the security they appeared to have, it would suffice and I would have no worries. I even stopped paying months ago because nothing I have left in there is worth paying the fees since all my belongings are gone, I'm sure by now they auctioned off whatever junk I had left but I could care less. They won't be getting any more of my money just so I can claim the very little items that wasn't stolen and give my business to people that really don't care and probably are the perpetrators or turned a blind eye. No security, incompetent manager, just a bunch of crooks. read more

I have been renting here for 12 months. In 2014 they had a major renovation for security. I use to worry because you could tell where they re-drilled latches because someone took a pry bar to it. Now they have all new metal panelling and locks that look indestructible. I don't worry at all anymore. The staff is great check google reviews of this place 4.8 out of 5 with hundreds of reviews. This place has changed for the better. I mean it's still Hayward so you can't guarantee anything around here, but I feel comfortable to have my stuff here. Paying my bills is easy and communicating with the staff is as well. There's nothing more you need out of a self storage. read more

All employees working here are always more than happy to help me with anything. They always say hi and talk to me while they drive/walk past me and I'm at my unit. I wish I did not store my stuff in this place yet I do not want to move it out at right now very poor customer service lift is broken for 5 days now complain about it several times only answer you get there is two lift in each building which is really hard because it's too far from your unit and you have big stuff. On line it says 24 hours access but really they close at 10 pm so if you get out 10:03pm you get warning..... You have been told that there is dolly in each lift but never found one ask the office and if the young lady that works there answer you she would say they are everywhere you have to look for it no customer service skills whatsoever don't know how to talk to customer. I have/had 3 RV spaces and 2 walk up 10' x 20' spaces at this location for 2 years. During these last 2 years, my trucks that I kept in the RV spaces have been damaged by people that stole my tools from the trucks after breaking all of the locks on the exterior doors to access the interiors of the trucks. All tools were stolen, so I quit keeping tools in them. Then on 2 other occasions, I found a person sleeping inside my 5' x 8' utility trailer . He actually used a tarp to cover the top of the trailer and moved into it. I reported this and the break ins to the management, but nothing was done. No extra cameras were ever added to make this place secure, even though a year ago they said they were looking into adding more cameras. Only 2 cameras 500 feet apart cover the RV section. Not nearly enough. NOW, a week ago, my 10,000 pound Bucket Truck was stolen from this facility at night, and they are doing very little to help. I had the Hayward Police come to the facility and write up a police report , and check out the video of the break in and stealing of my truck. Even though the video has a clear picture of a person that appears to be involved with the theft of my truck, the managers at this location will not give info to the police without a warrant. SO, if you are looking for a storage facility to store anything that you care about, I personally suggest that you look elsewhere. read more

This place is full of shit. My unit was robbed of all my valuables and it was an inside job. 11 units in one section was robbed. The stupid ass management called me on Monday afternoon at 1pm and said "as she was doing her walk-thru which was Sunday, she notice my unit had the lock missing. That was bullshit. The lock was cut off and unit robbed. They knew exactly what to take. I payed $150 a month plus insurance and my things were valuable. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY!!!!. They will robbed u...I also ask to see the video tape and was told that I couldn't because of an ongoing investigation. That's bullshit yo.
