Only had this unit for 2 months. I tried going jnto the office more than a handful of times, all during different times of day, and no one was ever there! When I was charged a late fee, I went in to explain I would be paying it (and the late fee), and asked if I could just walk in to grab one thing out for an out of town trip I was going on, and she wouldn't even let me do that. The only time I got communication is when they were blowing up my phone, and threatening on the app that my things would go for auction. I honestly didn't trust this place whatsoever, and worried everyday if my things would be stolen. I decided to just go back to Extra Space Storage (their facilities are much cleaner, service is impeccable and with people always in the office during posted office hours). The cherry on top was leaving 45 mins past the 9pm curfew and getting locked in. The lady at the front desk who KNEW I was a paying customer yelled down for me to call customer service, which I did, and took me 20 mins to get out! Not to mention, a bunch of bugs in my unit. Horrible place, and I highly do NOT recommend! read more

The best part of this business is the people who work there. Shivan in particular, and Kimani and another gal, all friendly, helpful, efficient, professional, courteous, and they remember you--that personal touch of feeling like a person, which I think helps make a business thrive. The place also has better access hours than many, 6am-9pm, which comes in handy when you work til early eve, and have just an extra hour or 2, but some other storage places are already closed. (One place in SF beats that, 24 hr access, BUT it's next to an industry with open piles of sand which blow through cracks under storage door all over your stuff, so...always trade-offs. Pub Stor has NO big sand piles next door.) On that note, Pub Stor DOES have guys come around with blowers to clean leaves out of driveways, so if you rent an outdoor drive-up access unit, be aware they blow leaves and grit under the door into first few feet of your unit. Place plastic dropcloth over things right by the door so you don't have to keep wiping em clean.) The main lesson for me with this & most ANY storage biz is try to not keep renting for years, because with all of em rent will go up every year. You move in at great rate, leave stuff there, next yr they increase it some, but not a lot, still worth keeping, gets bumped up a bit more next yr, but a hassle to move, & it IS useful to have that space... Then after 4 years finally raised another $50/month. Over time it can become not affordable as it once was. If like me you have multiple clients & income that varies & once in awhile you need to pay a couple weeks late, that fee can be high too. I finally had to move, not able to afford increased rent & high late fee, due to decreased income from my Covid-sheltered clients. But I will miss the great, friendly staff here, whom I had many great chats with and always left with a smile after seeing them. So, I would give 10 stars for the staff if they let me (but Yelp just goes up to 5). From the 5 I had to deduct 1 star for the blowers regularly blowing grit under unit door onto my stuff. And I needed to deduct 1 star for yearly rate increases & high late fee, which eventually forced me to move. So: 5-1-1 = 3 stars total. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I've had this storage for over 2 years now and I have discovered that it is a complete waste of money more so because it is a complete rip off. In the time that I've had this storage my unit has been broken into multiple times and they've done nothing to secure my unit. Despite the sh*ty service of keeping my unit and its contents secure these people had the audacity to increase the rent only for my unit to continue to be burglarized and I've come to not understand what it is that I'm paying for. It took several months before they actually attempted to do anything to secure my unit after it was broken into the first time. The most recent frustration, after it was recently broken into, again, they changed the lock on my unit and did not have the courtesy to request and/or inform me that they were going to change my lock. This has been the worst experience that I have had with a storage facility. The sooner I close this storage the better. I will never do business with Public Storage again. I would never recommend this company to anybody, especially the location at 15984 E. 14th St. in San Leandro. read more

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT OBTAIN STORAGE HERE! Our storage unit was burglarized and robbed and the employees did nothing about it! We filed a police report and came back at a later time to evaluate the remaining items only to see the very items stolen from us in another unit belonging to someone else! The person that owned the unit claimed he didn't own the unit or items in it and acted very suspicious. This definitely could have been an inside job DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE! read more

Recently helped my friend move and she needed a smallish storage space to store some of her stuff. Didn't really know what she needed but with the help of the front desk lady ( Shivawn, beautiful name!) she asked us some standard questions and helped us tremendously with what size would work for her. We got to see the storage sizes before we even made a decision :) spectacular customer service throughout the whole process and she was very professional to us, no complaints what so ever. Scharneyse is the Woman!! She is the replacement for the old guy who served 25 years at the same location and I hope Scharneyse has the same longevity! I've had my storage space here for about a year and other than the prices which can be high everything has been great. I decided to save some money and move my things to a smaller space. Great idea and My girl Scharneyse made it easy. They worked with me on timing and finding the right space. Then they prorated my current space and applied the difference to the new space...Awesome!!! Horrible place! No alarms on the buildings, only the front gate. Buildings don't lock. No cameras inside the buildings, either. I lost most of my tools to a burglary when they came over the fence, went inside the building and cut my lock off my unit, (A Special round lock I was forced to buy so it couldn't be cut off.) Last November the website didn't work several different days when I tried to pay my rent, so they charged me a late fee. In December it didn't work for 11 full days while I was trying to pay my rent. I went there in person once to try to pay my rent and the office was locked up during business hours. I waited 10 minutes for someone and no one showed up. I decided to go to my unit while waiting, but the gate didn't work either. It opened about 1 foot and stopped. I gave up and went home. I tried getting my money back and was not receiving any acceptable answer, even from corporate. They flat-out ignored a complaint to the BBB. It took me months of hassle to get my late fee back. I was called a bully to my face for expecting it. I was told us "White guys need to loosen up a bit like her and her friends." Then, after losing $ thousands tools I filed a claim with their insurance, which is trying to lowball me. After I refused and offered to take them to court over it, I received a notice my rent was going up to over $200 month on a small unit. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, BECAUSE ENOUGH IS TOO MUCH! I moved to Saf-Keep out on W. Winton and get the same size unit with Alarms on my unit door and much cheaper rent. I will NEVER rent with Public Storage again! read more

I've had several storage places over the years and never as many problems...The manager at this location has been the worst..forced me to buy covers and things I didn't need...also refused to let my parents in to our storage even thou they were authorized users....safe your self time and rent somewhere else...or atleast avoid place... read more

It's only been a couple of months, but so far we are very happy with this place. It is right next to our house and we got a really good deal on the unit. Plus the girls that work at this location are AWESOME and so helpful! Shivawn is so good to her customers - I truly felt as though she had my best interests in mind and not just her company's. The day I came in to sign the paperwork for our unit Donna was dealing with a difficult customer with such poise and calmness.
