    Do Not Store Anything Of Value at Public Storage, Or It will Get Stolen! This is An Open Letter to Public Storage on Grove and the Castro Valley/Hayward Area Sometime between Monday Feb 28th and Wednesday March 9th, everything of value was stolen from my locked and allegedly "secure" storage space at the Public Storage facility at 2445 Grove in Castro Valley. The manager Kevin called me to report that my storage unit was "unsecured" and that he had placed a new lock on the unit. When I arrived, Kevin pretended to be shocked and surprised when we opened my clearly ransacked storage unit. It was a disarray of empty boxes and broken glass. How could he be shocked? As I try to compile a list of the stolen items, I realize it's impossible to remember everything I've kept for the last 30 years of my life. I lost family heirlooms and items commemorating the armed forces service of my Father as well as my own. The thieves took a file cabinet of personal financial information including college transcripts, credit card statements, and other sensitive financial information. They took everything that mattered. I have repeatedly asked for a review of the front gate video to potentially identify suspicious behavior and report it to police. I have been told that "there wasn't anything to see" but I haven't been allowed to look for myself. I have asked what is being done to improve security. No response. It is clear that management does not care about security at their facility. Is this the way Public Storage treats all their customers who have been robbed? The lack of communication and the egregious lack of accountability is a slap in the face after being a customer for the past three years. I am embarrassed that I believed their signs on their front gate that read, "Rest assured, you're at the right place" and "Just so you know, This property is protected by 24 hours video surveillance."     I give PS four stars for one reason, and one reason only. Kyle…read more Kyle came on board as the manager, about a month or so after I became a customer in April 2017. Without going into detail, the previous manager had a very aggressive interactive style. I felt helicoptered under this person's management style. I will make this positive declaration: I appreciate that the precious manager had a small, drive up space available in a very desirable location on the premises. When Kyle came, he was like a drink of wonderfully cold, refreshing, and calming water on a sweltering, hot summer day. Kyle is the only reason, I enjoyed my stay at PS. I could take my time to organize and deal with my belongings. No helicoptering. Kyle has a gentle spirit. He is also very diligent about doing his tasks and ensuring that things are safe and in order. I had promised to give a good review, but failed to do so until now. Today, I went in to see Kyle, and apologize for not writing the review, but discovered that he is on vacation. The lady who is filling in for Kyle is also very gracious. The minute I walked in, she spoke with kindness and professionalism. Her name is Michele. So, now there are TWO reasons to rent from PS: Kyle AND Michelle! I decided to put off my review no longer! So here it is! Keep up the good work, Kyle and Michele! You make PS look REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD! They are SUPER fortunate to have you!

    Be careful when moving in here. For the last week elevators have been shut down and from what i was…read moretold its over nonpayment to keep up to date permits. What a great time to not have access to an elevator right as its time to bring all the Christmas decorations home for the holidays. What would happen if the CUSTOMER didnt pay a bill on time? But lets be serious, the state inspectors do not come out right away to shut down service so i dont want to hear "i forgot"

The biggest reason for 3 stars is the kiosk that never works. What was the point of the company spending money on a kiosk out side, that you can't actually use after business hours??? Of course I can always call and make payment or do online, but that's extra time having to type out your CC number and everything else. The point of a kiosk like this is to simply tap your card quickly, and go. The card reader says "Ready" but when I go to make actual payment, I always get this error message in the picture. They need to fix it once and for all. Has been like this for months. Maybe because not many people use it, but for those of us that do us it, we want it to work! Sometimes in the middle of the night on my way home, I just want to stop by and pay the bill right quick without having to go online or stop and pay over the phone. The elevator in one of the buildings was malfunctioning at one point but they did seem to get that fixed thankfully.
