I had an issue with the facility accidentally putting a lock on my unit but that has now been resolved. I like the hours that the gate is open and the facility is pretty clean. The units have lights on timers. Staff overall are friendly. The units are reasonably priced. read more

This facility is great! Very clean and well kept. The managers are all very nice and helpful as well. I don't need much space but was happy to tour the facility and learn about all the different sizes available should I ever need something bigger in the future. They also have boxes and bubble wrap and other moving supplies easily available to purchase in the office. I just want to thank the managers of this site for taking such good care of my belongings for the years I have needed storage. The prices made it so that I could comfortably leave my belongings and sort through my family stuff (pictures, books, trinkets, etc). My homes were not big enough and I wasn't willing to let stuff go that was important to me and my family. I finally have enough space, and was able to get everything in my home. Not recommended. This place is infested with mice. I let management know about the problem but they didn't do anything about it. Decided to move my property somewhere else and I had mice piss all over it. In the meantime rent kept going up and up twice a year. Customer service is okay until you have a problem, then it's nonexistent. Bathroom is duty and not well stocked. Your property will not be in safe and caring hands here. read more

Great process. Nicely tucked away and quiet. Both people in front office were great, very professional and nice. And best of all - to the point. I booked online at around 3-4am during my insomniac wake periods of overthinking and came in at 9am to sign papers for lease and pay associated fees. It was very easy, my unit not far from front (small unit) and it was clean and open. This was NOT the first place I had gone to. I'm a return customer but for some reason thought Extra Space was a good idea. I had gone through process at Extra Space and process was a bit long, Unit was a bit smelly and the unit they gave me was all the way to the back. They also asked me what I was storing there which is a bit suspicious since they've had multiple break ins. Here a Storage Security I was told what NOT to store, not asked for an itemized list. There were no hidden fees too. ExSp said $61 but required an EXTRA $14 per month for insurance, here the insurance fee is included in price which was $10 per month so another plus for this place. I shopped online, read multiple reviews and visited a few different facilities before finding Security Public Storage. Upon arrival, I truly felt like I found a good place. Richard was extremely helpful and friendly. It was obvious he took a great deal of pride in managing the property and taking care of customers. I felt confident in doing business with him and this storage facility and signed up on the spot. The property has many desirable security functions and the use of the onsite truck for the first month is an added bonus. There are also some appealing online specials for monthly rates. Security Public Storage - Awesome!!! - Self Storage Near Me - Hayward, California

Recently, I rented a storage unit from Security Public Storage in Hayward. I had two major issues I want people to watch out for: 1) Communication among staff is poor, so empty promises are made, and 2) the manager of the Hayward branch, Richard "Rich" Espinoza made the experience nothing short of a nightmare. Originally I reached out to various public storage businesses via Yelp. Security Public Storage got back to me, and the folks were great. I wanted to secure the rate, but Redwood City (where I initially planned on renting) ran out of the space I needed (and the next comparable sizes jumped in price). To secure the $59 rate quoted, I agreed to rent in Hayward. As I was looking to secure a unit I was told they just rented out the last unit of that size. Then the phone rep did a 180, and said they actually did have a unit available, but it was $69. The representative explained despite it being the exact same size, this was a special unit. The rep explained this unit was special because it was on the ground floor, so I did not have to use elevators. As such, I agreed, and paid. The next day I called and explained I didn't have a printer and the documents I needed to sign were not coming up properly on my phone. In response the guy told me it was not a problem, to drive to the Hayward branch and they'll have the paperwork printed out for me. The next day I drove to the Hayward branch and I notice all of the units are ground level, so I am confused why I was charged extra. I call the number, and the representative explained the unit must have been worth more because it might actually be a drive-up unit. Not all units are drive-up, so that would explain the increased fee. Afterwards I called the Hayward number, hoping to speak to the guy who promised me the printed out papers. Instead I get the manager, Rich Espinoza. When I asked for the papers he flipped and said he was not seeing anyone today, and that he was not going to print the papers. He seemed to have a major issue with the situation, and it felt like he wanted me to problem solve it for him. I explained that I called previously, and that the rep promised the papers were going to be printed. After 10-15 minutes he calls back and says he will drop the papers and a pen outside his door. He then threatened I'd be taken to court if I did not read the paperwork carefully. It was not what he said, but his tone. It felt combative, which is confusing because we were not in combat. Subsequently I combed through the contracts carefully. At one point I started editing it, and I crossed out that I waive my right to a jury (and a class action suit) and would be forced to do ADR/mediation. There is nothing wrong with ADR/mediation, but being forced to waive my right is unsettling. In law school I learned companies use such tactics (forced ADR/mediation clauses) to avoid accountability and strip consumers of their rights. I finished signing everything (with that edit) and gave him the paperwork back. Although I already paid, I needed to fill out the paperwork, so I could get the entrance code. A few minutes later Mr. Espinoza calls me in an absolute fury, telling me I can go somewhere else if I do not sign the waiver. Instead of giving me a chance to respond, he lost whatever little restraint he possessed and began endlessly ripping my head off. By this point we've been there for over an hour, it's 90+ degrees, I am exhausted, and worried about my 83 year old grandmother and a friend. I told Mr. Espinoza I was willing to sign the paperwork in its original state. Mr. Espinoza then says he cannot print the contract again because his printer stopped working (he ran out of ink or paper). My friend told me I could try signing on his phone, so Mr. Espinoza agreed to email me a new link with all the paperwork. Literally, within a minute I started signing the four documents. The signed paperwork immediately got back to Mr. Espinoza. After that 10 or so minutes passed, but Mr. Espinoza still did not send the entrance code. My grandmother is begging me to call him and ask what is taking so long. I eventually call him to ask, and Mr. Espinoza said it is because he now needed to sign it. I explained I had my 83 year old grandmother in the car. He begins shouting again, and explaining if I had a medical emergency then I should go to the hospital (while in the middle of Covid). Mr. Espinoza repeats it over, and over, and over. Eventually we get into the facility, and Mr. Espinoza calls me to request I move my U-Haul (which I did immediately). He was sweet, and gentle, it surprised me. Then I realized, he was sweet and gentle when he needed something from me, but when I needed help he was annoyed and contentious. My friend and I unloaded the truck in maybe 10 minutes. Oh, and the unit was not a drive-up. According to Mr. Espinoza, no 5x10 units are a drive-up. I paid a few extra bucks for a perk, but there was no perk. Instead there was hostility and humiliation. read more

He lives in the premises and you pretty much get to know him as you rent from this storage unit. As far as the facility, I don't really have anything to compare it to so it looks good to me. One disclosure is that you should be wary of his assistant because he can be a bit off at times. Nice person but John is a much better person to deal with. read more

George and Paul were both great, super friendly and very helpful in helping us assess our storage needs and finding the appropriate unit. The facilities are nice as the units are all on the street level and you can pretty much drive up to all of them even if they are in a little hallway, which is nothing compared to some storage places where you have to walk around a maze to find your unit. There is tons of security cameras, alarms and the manager lives on site. There is a coded gate and I feel like our stuff is safe! In terms of price they are the best price per sq. foot I could find for equal facilities and ease. It's super easy to find and is pretty much right off the 880. This is our first storage unit and I have to say, I can't imagine a better one! read more

We moved cross country and needed a good place to store our stuff for a two months while we bought a house. I researched several places online and Security Public Storage in Hayward was price competitive with several other places in the area. After speaking with the office staff I decided to store our stuff here. Fast forward two months and when we came to pack everything up to move out our stuff was covered in mouse droppings. Mice had peed on our bedding and chewed up a few picture frames. As we were unpacking our boxes we found a little surprise inside (see pics). A nest with two baby mice inside. We carefully put them outside but without their mom I don't think they made it. When I called Security Public Storage to let them know about the mice they seemed very uninterested. They promised to call me back. A week went by and no one called. I called again and again they said they would call me back. And no call came. Do not use this place. Spend a few more dollars and choose a higher quality location and isn't pest infested. read more
