Unfortunately we had a bad experience with this place. We went in and reserved a unit abt 2-3 weeks before we needed it. There was a manager present at the time and she was very helpful in holding a storage for us at the current promotion price. We booked and left. Then I needed to move my date back about a week, so I called and spoke to a male working here. I told him I needed it for 5/25. He was able to look up our booking and changed it.We showed up today, Mon 5/25 with our uhaul since we were moving out of our apartment and it was closed bc of holiday. What I don't understand is why this guy changed the booking and did not realize they were closed on holidays. Most places that have a scheduling system will have the day blocked off if it is closed. We had to scramble and find another storage and ended up paying $100 more a mo. Initial customer service was good, but apparently their staff is not aware of such things. Most businesses will tell you if they're open or closed on holidays. read more

Not sure when new management was put in place at SPS Hayward, but they have extremely poor management skills. You consistently get different information from different managers you speak to. I've been a loyal customer at SPS for years and due to the poor customer service I've experienced lately, I'm moving my stuff out as soon as possible. read more

The key to great service is not just how you deliver it, but what you do when something goes wrong. While I had initially posted a critical review of Security Public Storage because of what went wrong, I've revised my opinion of the management of the facility. They take reviews seriously, which is very positive thing, and reached out to me to expressed their sincere desire to address my concerns. In fact, a big part of my concern was with the result of this being an outdoor entrance unit and I wasn't familiar with this type of storage facility as previously I had an indoor space with another Security Public Storage location. Based on my conversation with the current management of this location, I have no doubt they make all of their customers aware of how to protect their goods from the elements that naturally come with an outdoor entrance to the space when you leave your things there for 3 years. So, at the end of the day, I'd recommend this location, but highly recommend you speak to the management when renting a storage facility here and heed their advice on how to keep all of your things safe and sound for the long term. read more

Not only are their rates very competitive but John the manager and his assistant Paul have gone out of their way to accommodate every need and request we've made regarding our storage space. As you well know, you can rent storage space anywhere, but in the long run, the staff is what will make the experience good or bad. My Husband has been using the Security Public Storage for more than 20 years with no problem with all the staff that work there. Today was a bad day my husband went to pay, PAUL gave my husband a hard time. He was late in paying for the month of February so he was paying the right amount plus the late charge and for the month of March. Paul was charging him late fee for the month for March which is not right because the due date of paying it was on every28th of the month and this is the first of the month so for me it was wrong for him to charge my husband a late fee for march because it is only the first of march. I thing he should be a little bit more professional in dealing with the customer. read more

We rented a storage unit less than a month ago. Sherry is great but the manager, George, is a jerk. At first he was friendly, but today he exhibited extremely unprofessional and inexcusable behavior . It was totally uncalled for and when we decided we were going to take our business elsewhere, he said he would be glad to accept a notice to vacate and then locked my husband out of the office so he couldn't sign the appropriate paperwork. We're leaving and going to Allsafe Storage in San Leandro. They have a very clean facility and are friendly and professional. When it comes to securing your personal property, it's important to deal with people who are trustworthy - and it's nice when they appreciate your business too - not this guy. read more

Oh my goodness, nothing but good things to say about the Managers Sue & John! I already have a storage at this facility and I was calling because I needed to store some more things, I called and reached someone in training; I was inquiring about getting a bigger storage and emptying my other one. Basically, I wanted to know how long the process would take to get another unit. The new person in training was helpful, but I received a call the next day on my cell phone from Sue (I was surprised) and she wanted to know if my questions were answered and asked about the service I received. Now that's customer service, following up to make sure I was satisfied and that my questions were answered. Both Sue & John are very personable. I hope they stay at this facility. read more
